His thoughts were interrupted when Levi started tapping frantically on his phone.
“Do you always hurry off to leave movie reviews when the credits start to play?” Inigo asked.
Levi’s smile was wicked and hungry. He shook his head, but instead of answering the question, he said, “Dax, let’s go pack you a bag. Linda invited you over for a slumber party. How’s that sound?”
Daxter ran to his room to get ready, moving even faster than Levi.
A thrill ran through Inigo’s body as he realized what was happening.
They would be alone in the house after having had an amazing day at the zoo and watching a romantic and thrilling movie.
Inigo hurried after them to see if there was anything he could do to help speed things along.

Levi
When Levi returned from dropping off Daxter at Linda’s, Inigo wasn’t waiting for him in the living room. He wasn’t in the kitchen either. He couldn’t help but wonder if something had overwhelmed Inigo and chased him off. The day had been amazing, but maybe when Inigo finally had a minute alone, he had realized just how close they had been all day. Levi checked his phone for a message, trying to tell himself that he would be calm and understanding if Inigo had fled to get a little privacy.
Just as the disappointment struck him from not seeing a message, Inigo called out from down the hallway. “Hey, aren’t you going to join me?”
Levi closed his eyes and said a silent thank you to whoever might be listening. Inigo hadn’t gone anywhere. In fact, he realized, Inigo was waiting for him in the master bedroom.
He wanted to sprint down the hallway and join him in his bed, but he wasn’t sure his legs would support him after the emotional whiplash he had experienced.
“I’ll be there in a second,” he said. “I just need to lock the doors to make sure no one wanders in.”
Levi turned the lock on the back door and slowly made his way to the front door. He wanted to make the night special. Sex with Inigo was always amazing. The man fucked with a passion that matched his own.
As he turned the corner to enter his bedroom, though, he still had no idea how to commemorate the day that he hoped was the beginning of something more between them. When he saw Inigo standing in front of the bed, completely naked and slowly stroking his very erect dick, any worries of plans evaporated. He would be perfectly fine winging it with Inigo and his carefree spirit.
“What the hell are you doing, man?” Levi asked with a laugh. “Starting without me? That’s gotta be a party foul.”
“My name is Inigo Triggs. You killed my…umm, crap. I should have come up with something while you were gone. Prepare to fuck!”
Inigo waved his dick back and forth and took a couple sliding steps toward Levi before shuffling back to the side of the bed.
“Okay. I’m not sure what’s going on here.” Levi pulled his shirt over his head and tossed it out into the hallway. “But I’ll assume this is a good time for me to get naked.”
“You make me watch that movie again and then expect me to not want to sword fight?
“Oh my God. You’re insane.” It didn’t stop Levi from sliding out of his pants and underwear, though. “You’ll need to give me a second, though, to…umm, prepare my sword. God, I can’t believe I just said that.” As dorky as the conversation was, it was not slowing the blood flow to his dick, which quickly hardened as he worked his hand slowly along the shaft while staring at Inigo’s stunning body. He smiled at the light sunburn on his neck and arms from their time out in the sun at the zoo.
Inigo hadn’t stopped looking up and down Levi’s body since he’d taken off his clothes. Levi was trying not to rush things, but the hunger in Inigo’s eyes was driving him mad. He needed more.
“Okay, I guess I’m ready,” Levi said. “But I swear to God, you better not hurt my dick.”
“That’s a good point.” With a laugh, Inigo quickly added, “What you said makes sense, too. A couple big swords like ours are bound to cause injuries in the heat of battle. God, this is horrible foreplay talk, isn’t it?”
Levi shook his head. “It’s cute. Besides, anything with you is good foreplay.”
Inigo sat on the bed and crooked his finger at Levi. “Come here.”
As Levi approached the bed, Inigo reached out to grab his hands and pull him between his legs. Inigo’s lips lightly kissed his ribs. Between kisses, he said, “I had fun today. Thanks for letting me be a part of your life.”
Levi ran his hands along the smooth skin on each side of Inigo’s mohawk. “I should be thanking you. I know hanging out with a kid and some lame old dad isn’t exactly a dream day for a punk rocker like you.”
With his lips still pressed against his stomach, Inigo looked up and caught Levi’s eyes. There was something to the look that Levi hadn’t seen before. Like he was more open or vulnerable. It was almost too much to handle. He wanted to push Inigo down onto the bed and ravage him.
“I almost had Ezra cut it off, you know. I think my mohawk days might be behind me.”
“No way. I would have killed him. You don’t need to give up that scene entirely just because of me. I’ll make you a deal. Next date, we can go to a concert. Your pick.”
Inigo ran his fingers down Levi’s belly, making the muscles twitch as they got closer and closer to where Levi needed them most. “Let’s plan our next date later. Right now, I just want to be with you.”
Instead of waiting for a reply, Inigo took Levi into his mouth.
Levi forced himself to focus on the moment. Worrying about what their future held was a distraction from enjoying the magic they were currently making.
The firm pressure from Inigo’s warm lips and the light teasing from his soft tongue was too much for Levi. He needed to slow things down.
“Can you imagine if we’d never met that night at the hotel?” Levi asked, keeping his eyes shut because watching Inigo sucking on his dick was not helping him calm down at all.
Inigo mercifully pulled away and asked, “What do you mean?”
“Nothing, I guess. Just, I can’t imagine not knowing you now. Things would be so different without you.”
Inigo scooted farther up the bed and cocked his head to the side. “Okay. I guess we can talk if that’s what you really want. Are we really almost to the faking headaches stage?”
Levi laughed. “No, don’t start thinking that. I just needed a second to catch my breath. You’re too good at what you do.”
Inigo rolled onto his belly so he could reach the bedside stand and grab the lube. While talking, he reached back between his legs and slowly prepared himself by sliding his fingers in and out, forcing Levi to really focus in order to follow what Inigo was saying. “I probably would have been a dumbass and gone back to Riley. It wouldn’t have been the first time I’d been a pussy and let him back into my life. What about you, since you brought it up?”
Levi started to answer, but watching Inigo’s fingers working his ass made him clear his throat and search for his words. “Damn, that’s sexy.”
“Feels good, too. But not as good as you feel.”
Levi’s dick was so ready, it took every ounce of control to keep himself from climbing atop Inigo and fucking him silly.
There’s plenty of time for that.
“Well,” he paused to clear his throat. “I’d be lonely. You’ve been so amazing with being flexible and making sure we get time together.”
“I am very flexible.” Inigo raised up onto his elbows and knees and let his back curve down so his stomach was pressed flat against the mattress.
The angles were perfect for fucking. Levi closed his eyes again and lay down next to Inigo. Inigo sighed and slid up on his side against Levi’s body.
“You’re very warm,” Inigo said.
“It helps protect me from the fires.” Levi cringed at his stupid reply.
“Do you get scared when you have to go into the burning buildings?” Inigo hummed in his ear while inch
ing the condom over Levi’s erection.
“Of course. When we aren’t is when we get hurt.” Levi went silent as Inigo rolled onto his other side, facing away from him.
Am I boring him?
“Spoon me and let me feel your strong body against mine, Levi.”
Moving languidly as Inigo was talking, Levi curled against Inigo and ran his hands up his chest until he reached his chin. He pulled Inigo’s face to twist him far enough to steal a kiss.
Neither man hurried. Levi lost track of time. It didn’t matter anymore. With Inigo, there was only now and it would last forever.
Sometime later—a minute, a day, a year, Levi didn’t know—Inigo turned his head away and said, “I want you in me, Levi. I want to be filled with you.”
Levi aimed himself and nudged his way into Inigo’s opening, moving as slowly as possible to savor the moment. “God, you’re amazing.”
“We are, baby. Alone, we’re just two dudes with baggage. The magic happens when we’re together.”
“Who knew you were such a sweet talker? I would have never guessed a party animal like you had this side, too.”
Wiggling his hips, Inigo said, “You knew I had this side. You’ve been in there before.”
“You know what I meant,” Levi said, realizing that he hadn’t moved since penetrating Inigo. The urge to start fucking coursed through every fiber of his being.
“Of course I do, hon, but sometimes I need fucked just a little bit to keep my mouth in line.”
“Just a little bit?” Levi asked, holding back a groan.
“I imagine that when you first start walking through a burning building, you move super slow, just feeling out the terrain.”
Levi blinked at the curveball. “No, not really. We have to move—”
Inigo cut Levi off. “I imagine that you move super slow and feel out the terrain.” Inigo tilted his hips to drive home the point.
“Oh, right. Of course. Slow and steady.” Levi slid back as far as he dared without risking falling out, and then, at the same measured pace, pushed back in.
Inigo gasped, so Levi did it again.
Inigo rewarded him by reaching back to stroke his cheek. “Yeah, just like that. I bet if the fire were big enough, you could keep up that pace all night.”
Levi wasn’t about to explain why that would be a horrible idea. He understood what Inigo was really asking for, and that was an amazing idea.
After a few minutes of silence, and nearly a dozen times where Levi considered grabbing Inigo’s hips and putting an end to it once and for all, Inigo started back in with his storytelling.
“And then after you slowly explore so thoroughly, I imagine that you hear a shout at the end of the hall, so you start marching steadily forward. Not running, of course, because the hall is so long and you have to conserve your energy.”
Inigo was talking a little faster. Levi matched him. Sweat started covering his body from the exertion. “The hallways are the worst. I have to move quickly, but you never know what might come crashing out of one of the bedrooms or fall from overhead.”
Levi wanted to go wild, but let Inigo drive the pace with his words.
“And with each step you take, it seems like you’re one step farther away,” Inigo said. “So you just keep marching forward. One step at a time. Fuck. And then you speed up a little bit, yeah, just like that, because you need to get to that door. There you go. And the door is getting closer now. So close. But when you reach it, it’s locked.”
Levi squeezed Inigo’s bicep, mad at the fucking locked door. “What should I do?”
“You’re a fireman, Levi. Bash that fucking door down and run in and be the goddamned hero.”
Levi didn’t need to be told twice. As Levi gave himself over to his lust, he was pretty sure he rolled Inigo onto his stomach and took him doggy-style. He was also pretty sure the fire got him on his back once, and then Inigo was sitting on top of him, and then the bed was too hot and they’d both rolled off onto the floor, which was also on fire.
The only safe place had been up against the dresser where he’d used his hose with great vigor to fight the fire and bit Inigo’s neck to keep from screaming so loud the entire neighborhood would hear.
“Levi, harder.”
Levi hadn’t known he could fuck Inigo any harder, but together they found a way. Their bodies slapped together. Inigo’s legs were wrapped around Levi’s hips. Levi barely felt Inigo’s weight as he held him up off the ground, all thoughts of their story tossed to the side until they both reached their orgasm and fell into a pile of sweaty, exhausted, smiling men on the floor.
Inigo was the first to speak. “Shit. Fighting fires is sexy as hell.”
“Wanna do it again?” Levi asked.
“Definitely. But we should get drinks first to stay hydrated.”
Levi didn’t bother finishing his beer, though. Still in the kitchen, they’d been talking about nothing and staring at each other’s bodies. Inigo’s dick twitched first.
Levi poured what was left of his beer down Inigo’s chest. “Oops. It looks like I spilled on your dick. I should clean that up.”
He dropped to his knees and got round two started.

Inigo
Even if I chop off the last zero, I can’t afford that. I barely have the money if they chopped off the last two zeros.
Inigo tried to push the quote for resurfacing the rink out of his mind so he could focus on his derby team’s practice, but even as he smiled while the guys tried to show Levi how to skate, he couldn’t shake the threatening doom that hung over everything.
Washington sounded like a decent escape.
What is wrong with me? Stop it. I’ll figure something out.
“Okay. This is gonna be our last practice before the bout. I think you all know Levi, but if you don’t, catch up after practice. We don’t have a lot of time to discuss some changes in strategy that we’ll need to make now that Levi is taking over for Riley.”
The guys cheered. Riley had always been a tough fit for the team, and Levi was definitely a step up… except for on the hardwood.
Inigo blew his whistle and let it fall back to his chest. “Come on, guys. We only have an hour.”
“And then we can go out for drinks, right?” Ezra asked.
“Not me,” Levi said. “The neighbor has plans later, so I have to get back home to pick up Dax as soon as we’re done.”
“How’s that all going?” Quinn asked. “We need to schedule a playdate with him and Brian still.”
“Does he like Frisbee?” Levi asked.
Inigo blew the whistle again. He forced his fists to unclench. “We’re here for practice. Levi is—let’s just be blunt—a bad skater, but he was nice enough to join us at the last second so that we at least don’t have to forfeit. I’m not sure how we’re going to game plan around a guy who can barely stay on his feet. Any ideas?”
Maxwell blew a bubble with his gum, and after it snapped, said, “When the whistle blows, we all brace with our back feet, and give Levi a big shove so he gets out in the lead.”
“I don’t see how that would help. He’ll just…” Inigo pinwheeled his hands to show how precarious Levi was on his skates.
“Exactly,” Maxwell agreed. “He’ll wipe out and that giant body sprawled out on the floor will trip up the entire other team, and we’ll skate around them. Easy money.”
“That’s a stupid idea,” Inigo said. “First of all, he’s not big enough to block the entire lane, and second of all, he’d take us all out, too. We need a real plan.”
“Damn,” Levi said. “You really do take this seriously. I didn’t expect to show up and get shit on. I could have just stayed home and watched TV, you know.”
Ezra clucked his tongue and pointed his finger at Inigo. “Stop being a dick. We’re just out here to have some fun.”
Inigo looked down at the floor, pressed his fingers to his temple, and shook his head while counting to ten. When he reach
ed three, he looked back up.
I don’t have time for this nonsense.
“And that’s why we always lose. You guys are always fucking around. We’ve been so close in a couple of these bouts.”
Ezra didn’t back down. “Listen here, mister. I’m not the kind to bring up past failures amongst friends, but that last loss was all you. Did you see any of us bitching over it, though? No, because we’re friends, and friends don’t do that.”
“Yeah, man, that’s not cool,” Peter agreed.
Quinn put his hand on Inigo’s shoulder. It was everything Inigo could do to not shrug it off. “Why don’t you go take five to cool down? We’ll practice for real when you get back.”
Inigo looked at Levi, uncertain if he wanted support or if he should apologize to the team. He hadn’t meant to start yelling at everyone, especially Levi, who really was just trying to help them out. The pained look on Levi’s face told Inigo that he should go splash some water on his face and settle down.
He nodded at Quinn and rolled away from the team, feeling their eyes burning a hole in his back.
I can’t believe I’m screwing this up.
He meant the derby practice, but it felt like he was talking about his relationship.
I’ll screw that up soon enough. Why can’t I ever be happy? Levi’s such a great guy. Why am I such a dick? I swear to God, I’m moving to Washington once Levi realizes what a mess I am and dumps my ass.
He wasn’t sure what was wrong with him. He’d been in a horrible mood all day. Seeing the quote for the repairs had been rough, but it couldn’t account for everything he was feeling.
As he passed the man Levi had introduced as his brother, he nodded at—shit, why can’t I remember his name? He’d missed meeting the brother the other day because the flight had arrived earlier than expected. The guy certainly didn’t fall far from the family tree. Tall and huge like Levi, Inigo had no trouble imagining him fighting fires in the military.
