“Hello, I think your name is Todd? You’re one of Jay’s son-in-law’s, right?”
“Yes, sir, that’s correct Mr. Governor, how can I help you?”
“I need to get in touch with Jay right away, it’s very urgent.”
“I can handle that, lift the red handset to your left, it will connect you to Jay anywhere he is.”
“Thanks.”
He lifts the red handset, a moment later he hears Jay.
“Todd, what’s up?”
“Jay, this is the governor, not Todd. We received news the President is sending DHS hit teams after us. We’re moving the announcement up. We’re going to make it in twenty minutes, can you react that quickly?”
Jay laughs, “Mr. Governor, we can react in seconds, just sit there and watch. Have you notified the militia and Army?”
“No yet. They were my next call.”
“Todd can handle it. Sit back and enjoy the show. Please hand the phone to Todd.”
“Todd, Jay wants to talk to you.”
“Dad?”
“Todd, alert one now, I repeat, alert one, now, no drill, Send to the Army and militia.”
“Yes, sir. Alert one, no drill, now.”
Todd reaches over to the large red button on the panel in front of him. He presses the button saying, “NO DRILL, repeating, NO DRILL. The clock is ticking, ALERT ONE, ALERT ONE, NO DRILL!”
The governor sits next to Todd watching the monitors. He’s surprised by the very quick reaction of everyone.
“Shit, it looks like you kicked over a hornet’s nest. Everyone is dropping whatever they were doing.”
“Sir, you’ll see people come running out of their homes, everyone will be armed and wearing body armor. I have a few tasks to take care of to secure the shelter. He presses the blinking red button. The governor jumps in his chair when he hears the three front doors slam shut. He notices red lights in the ceiling being blinking. He looks at Todd.
“Sorry, I put the shelter on alert. Our active and passive defensives are now online. In a minute or two, the ill and young kids will arrive. I’ll open the doors; they’ll take up their positions inside the shelter.”
“You use young children?”
“Sir, here, everyone works, every able body has a task. Under a red alert even the young pitch in. Many load magazines, some assist the doctors.”
“Is this a warship or a shelter?” Asked a smiling governor.
“You might say, it’s a little of both. We practice alerts all the time. We’ve been attacked a few times. Our quick response time is what’s saved our lives. We’ll be ready for whatever the President is planning.”
“I hope so, all of our lives are depending on it.”
Ten minutes later Todd says,
“Sir, I’ve set up your call. I’ve had a speaker and mic placed in the conference room, your images will be on the main monitor. There’s a few bottles of water and a clean laptop. Do you need anything else?”
“What about my staff?”
“They are being escorted to the shelter, expect them to arrive in four minutes. Sir, I suggest you make yourself comfortable in the conference room. I’ll arrange to have your staff delivered to you there.”
“Thank you.”
Minutes later the monitor on the wall in the conference room comes alive with the images of the Southern governors except for Virginia’s. None of the others trusted the Democrat, who is a close friend of the Clintons. The Texas Governor looks at his co-conspirators asking,
“Are we ready?”
All nod yes.
“Then let's do this. I’ve hired a hacking organization to enable us to break into the four networks broadcasts. If no one has any objections, I’ll be the spokesperson. We can’t all talk at the same time. We have to look like we’re serious and we have our shit together. This isn’t the time to play political games.”
The other twelve governors agree.
“On the count of five, four, three, two and one… Hello, America. We’re sorry to interrupt your programs. We promise to be brief and to the point. You’re seeing on your screens thirteen governors of our Southern States. We’ve come together on behalf of our people. I’m the Governor of the great state of Texas, we’ve come together today to make a special announcement. If you’d allow me a couple of minutes to read our declaration, I promise you’ll quickly understand why we’re here today. In 1776, thirteen states issued their Declaration of Independence to the British King, King George, they made public their case for the independent United States. We’re making our Declaration for the Independent Confederate States of America. We have taken the original words of the Declaration of Independence, we’ve altered some of the words to fit our current situation, as such, I will hereby read our Declaration;
The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen United Southern States of the Confederated States of America,
When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown, that mankind are more disposed to suffer while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.--Such has been the patient sufferance of these States; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present President of the United States is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let these facts be submitted to a candid world.
He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
He has forbidden the States to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
He has refused our people’s right to free speech and the right to bear arms as provided for in our Constitution.
He has forced our people to set aside their freedom of religion.
He has destroyed the nation’s healthcare system.
He has incurred debt to such an extent the people won’t be able to repay it for generations.
He has forsaken his primary obligation of protecting the people by weakening the military.
He has ruled by Executive Order, just like King George did in 1776.
He has ordered his DHS to force the States to follow his illegal orders. He has ordered the arrest of some state Governors.
He has destroyed our monetary system.
He has refused to listen to the petitions of the people he represents.
He has endeavored to allow mass illegal immigration to our states so he can legalize them, thus ensuring his party will rule forever, directly going against the wishes
and desires of our Founding Fathers. He has ordered our borders opened and has refused to protect the people who live in the border states. Said illegal immigrants are committing mass crimes against our people.
He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing to abide by the wishes of the people and Congress.
He has created an organization of Tsars, which he has given authority over Congress. He has allowed these Tsars to rule via regulation when the Constitution states all laws originate in Congress.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices and Czars and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.
He has kept among us, in times of peace, armed forces of every department in the Federal Government. He has given these armed forces power over the people without the Consent of our legislatures.
He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.
For blocking our states from trading with others in the world.
For imposing Taxes on us without the consent of Congress.
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us and has endeavored to bring on both a race and class war.
In every stage of these Oppressions, We have petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. He has set himself up as a king whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
We, therefore, the Representatives of the United Confederate States of America, in General, Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these thirteen states, solemnly publish and declare, That these United Confederate States are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the American Federal Government, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do. And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor.
We believe the best course of action is for us to secede from the United States of America and form our own nation: The Confederated States of America. We pledge to rule for the betterment of our people. We promise our people our new government will have term limits for every office. We will not have many of the agencies the Federal Government has, leaving those decisions, such as education and school lunches, to the local communities where they belong. Our new Constitution will contain the same Bill of Rights as the American Constitution has, to prove our good will, we agree that the second Amendment shall not be infringed, all of the states of the Confederacy will adopt open carry and free to carry concealed.
Our currency will be backed by gold and silver, we will not have a Fed or anyone between the mint and our banks and people. Our borders will be closed and sealed. Anyone desiring entry will need a visa. All illegal immigrants will be deported within ninety days of the establishment of the Confederacy.
We will not allow our elections to be bought and sold by those with the most money, all of our campaigns will be funded with public funds, no private funds will be allowed to be used for campaigns. We wish to return to the simplicity of the first presidential election, where a good man took the position, without the desire to rule and grow his personal wealth, an individual who desires honest greatness for our country, not personal gain. Our citizens will have the freedom to cross our state lines without requiring a permit or license, fishing and hunting will be free to all citizens of the Confederacy. We will work with our citizens to return the Confederacy to the ideals of the country’s founders.
To prove the point that our people are the most important asset in our land, we’re going to hold a special election to make sure our people support our plans. The thirteen of us have agreed to hold the special election next Tuesday. We want to have the election as quickly as possible to block outside influences from trying to sway our people. We believe the majority of our people want increased freedom, less dependence on the government. We believe our people want the government out of their bedrooms, their bathrooms, their churches and their wallets. We’re going to rescind all the federal government rules on toilets, lightbulbs, and requiring an FFL to sell a firearm to friends and family. We’re starting over, we pledge to our people we won’t have a ruling, political class. Our term limit laws will ensure no one can spend their entire lives in our Congress.
We invite all members of the US military to resign and join us. We can assure you, you will go from being some of the poorest to being some of the best paid in our country, along with our teachers who will be well trained in constitutional areas and will be valued for their contributions to our future; our children. No member of our military will ever be homeless or hungry. Every member of a fallen member of our military will be taken care for the remainder of their life. We won’t have a VA; go to any doctor you want to. You’ll have a military insurance card which will cover your medical and medication costs. You won’t have to pay for your uniforms. Your lives will not be wasted in country building or ROEs, which place your lives in danger. You have our word and a written contract to guarantee our promises to you.
Thank you. And God bless the Confederated States of America.”
Their hack into every national and local television broadcast comes to an end. Most people in the North and West are shocked. Many in the South are cheering, many rush into the streets cheering. The mainstream media doesn’t waste a second before condemning the Confederacy.
Chapter 11
Jay and his key staff watch the speech in the castle’s conference room. Tony’s eyes grow wider with each comment the Texan Governor says. When he reads the modified Declaration of Independence, Tony smiled thinking how wise a move that was.
“I think he nailed it. I know which way I’m voting.”
Fred smiles,
“Tony, everyone knew how you were going to vote before he began his speech. We all know they offered you and many of your friend’s immunity from any crimes you might have committed in the USA. A blind man could see which way you’re going to vote.”
“Do you blame me?”
“No, I too think he hit a home run. I hope the media doesn’t rake them over the coals too badly. One advantage they have is the quick time for the election, they may be able to get it in before the media can burn them.”
Jay smiles, “I bet the media has already started turning up the heat, I’ve got a gold coin, who wants to bet with me?”
Tony smiles,
“I don’t take sucker bets; of course, they’ve already started, they can’t allow real freedom to get a foothold in the country, they’ll lose their control.”
“Let's see, before I turn on the television, any takers for my bet?”
Everyone smiles shaking their head no.
“Okay, I’ll turn on the twenty-four-hour news program.”
As soon as the screen comes on they hear the screaming coming from the anchor.
“The President has to send the Army to arrest these governors before they can get their election off the ground! This has to be stopped before the movement gains momentum.”
Another anchor looks into the camera shaking his head,
“This issue was settled a long time ago, why is it coming back? This has to be stopped before the people are misled and get themselves into trouble. People of the South, remember the Civil War, remember the horrors your ancestors suffered through, vote NO in the election. Don’t make the same mistake your great grandparents did. Remember, the US military can destroy countries in a week, consider the damage they can do to your homes.”
Another station, one well known to be conservative was confused, they have a program on every day wher
e five anchors argue with each other, the panel is split over the secession. While on the Communist News Network their anchors called on the President to arrest the governors and use the military to force the south to stay in the Union.
Jay looks around the table,
“I think the media is going to push him into trying to force the governors to stay in the Union. If the President starts another civil war, it’s going to cause irreparable damage to the nation. Let’s get Franco on the line and figure out how much time he needs to finish the new shelter and what we can do to speed him up. Let’s also send out some away teams looking for supplies to the north, let’s send teams into Kentucky.
The others nod their agreement. Fred looks at his close friends,
