The six women walked tiredly around the copter and stopped cold. Standing in front of them was a crowd of men, women and children stretching all the way across the deck. The passengers and crew of the Grand Adventure.
They were all cheering.
Aleesha blinked, stunned. Damned if those weren’t tears welling up in her eyes! She felt Vanessa’s arm go around her shoulder, and she did the same to Misty on her right. They didn’t usually go for group hugs or big displays of affection, but today the Medusas walked arm in arm toward the waiting crowd.
“Not a bad day’s work,” Vanessa murmured.
Misty added jauntily, “I’d hate to be the security officers who have to make all these people swear never to mention our existence, though.”
The Medusas laughed. And the grateful crowd closed in around them, congratulating and hugging them. It was a mad scene that took them a good half hour to wend their way through. But finally they were ushered away from the crowd and into a relatively quiet passageway. They all took deep breaths and grinned at each other.
A good day’s work, indeed.
