Acknowledgments
First and foremost, I want to thank Mary and Angela for all the hard work they did with the editing of this book. They are both awesome and there no words that can properly express my gratitude. This series wouldn’t be nearly as successful without the help both of them have given me since the beginning. For Mary, thanks especially for that final read-through. I know how exhausting that must have been.
I’d like to thank my family next for their support. They’ve had to constantly listen to my ideas and brainstorming even though many of them don’t read my books (not very many fantasy/romance lovers amongst the men, if you can believe it). I especially appreciate my grandfather for keeping a straight face as I discuss ways to hurt/kill my characters with him. He always contributes his own thoughts even when the look in his eyes says he can’t believe he has a granddaughter as crazy as me. Oddly, he didn’t have a problem with me jumping from planes in the military, but he was in the Air Force during WWII so that might explain it.
My father is awesome for always being willing to look something over in my work if I need a quick opinion or spell check. There are probably some things a father is better off not reading that his daughter wrote, but he does it and never complains. Thanks Dad!
Salam, my husband, gets a big shout out as well. He doesn’t read my work, but he does make sure I’m well-fed while I’m in those last weeks before publishing when all I’m doing is working on my book. If he grumbles because I forgot to eat while he was away, I know he only does it because he cares. He was also kind enough (after a few threats, anyway) to let me practice some of the fight moves I used in this book on him. The man wouldn’t actually let me hurt him—he’s no fun—but I was allowed to bring his elbow to the breaking point. It was for a good cause so I could make sure I was describing it properly. Knowing how to do a fight move and describing it to readers are two entirely different things and not easy to do.
A big thanks to my cover design team. Claudia at Phat Puppy art always does an amazing job at making my covers look beautiful with the help of Ashley at Bookish Brunette who handles the typography. Teresa Yeh did a fantastic job with her photography for the model. Thanks also to Steve for portraying the look of Lucas so well. Without all of these people, the cover for Chained by Darkness wouldn’t have turned out nearly so great!
There are so many more people who have helped along the way with promoting the series, listening to my brainstorming ideas, and other types of support authors have to have. It’s impossible to name them all, but know that I do appreciate everyone who contributes in a big or small way.
A huge shout out to my Facebook fans. I started out with almost no one coming by my page at the beginning of 2013. Now I have an amazing group of readers who are quick to comment and show their support. Thanks ladies!
