Ethan started moving faster, his ass gripping Beau’s dick.

“Take over,” Ethan commanded roughly. “Fuck me like you need me.”

“Baby, I always need you. More than you’ll ever know.” Beau proved it by pushing Ethan off him. He guided him down into the water and toward the opposite side. “Lean over and grip the edge.”

Ethan bent over, pushing his ass back toward Beau. He easily guided himself home, then pushed in deep. He leaned over Ethan, his chest to Ethan’s back, as he rocked his hips. The water sloshed with his movements, despite the powerful jets circulating it.

Beau started slow, trying not to cause a tidal wave, but quickly grew bored with the pace. He could tell Ethan wanted more, so he began thrusting faster, driving in hard. “Fuck, E. You fucking drive me crazy. If you only knew how hard I get for you. How fucking bad I want to hear you beg for more.”

“I’ll beg,” Ethan stated confidently, his voice deep and rough with arousal. “I have no shame when it comes to you. Fuck, I’ll beg, Beau. Don’t stop.”

“Not stopping.” Beau slammed home again and again. He finally stood and gripped Ethan’s hips to hold him still. He fucked him harder and harder, deeper, faster, his fingers digging into Ethan’s flesh as he held him still while Ethan locked his elbows to keep from being pushed forward.

The air was crisp and cold, but it did nothing to cool the heat that consumed him. Beau would never get enough of Ethan. Not even if they lived to be a hundred and did this every single day. The man made him burn, made him want, made him ache.

“Beau… Oh, fuck… That’s good.” Ethan pushed back, taking Beau deeper. “So fucking good. Don’t stop… Gonna make me come… Oh, yeah… Just like that.”

Ethan wasn’t touching himself, which only made it hotter. Beau loved knowing that he could send him over the edge like this. His dick pulsed and throbbed, his balls drawing up to his body as his climax built stronger by the second.

“I’m gonna fill your ass, E. And when I do, I want you to come with me, baby. I need you to come with me.”

Even as he said the words, Beau lost it. He couldn’t hold back any longer, his release barreling down on him like a tsunami, waves and waves of sensation slamming into him over and over.

Nothing in the world felt as good as this.

  Nothing.

AFTER THEY CLEANED up and tossed some chemicals into the hot tub per the cabin owner’s instructions, Ethan made them a quick dinner of spaghetti and a homemade sauce he’d long ago perfected. He even tossed a few pieces of bread into the oven and made garlic bread. When it was finished, they ate in the living room in front of the fire Beau had started when they’d come in.

“Not a bad start to this vacation, huh?” Beau said when he set his plate—his second serving—on the coffee table and retrieved his beer.

Ethan did the same, then leaned deeper into the couch’s arm cushion, sliding his legs against Beau’s, who was on the other end of the couch, feet out in front of him, facing Ethan. “Not too bad. I’m only wonderin’ how we’re gonna be able to keep up this pace, though.”

Thanks to the events of the last few days, plus all the traveling, Ethan was worn out. Now that his belly was full and his body sated from Beau’s ministrations earlier, he was ready to sleep for a month.

“Did I wear you out already?” Beau teased. “I mean, you did turn thirty this year.”

“Fuck you,” Ethan said with a grin. “I only get better with age.”

  “Ain’t that the damn truth.”

Ethan watched Beau for a moment, their eyes locked together. He had a feeling that he knew what Beau was thinking. Probably the same thing Ethan was.

Ethan wasn’t getting any younger, and although thirty wasn’t geriatric, neither of them wanted to be too old to care for a baby when they finally got to that point. Beau was probably wondering whether or not Ethan had changed his mind yet. The last time they’d talked about it, a good six months ago, Ethan had told Beau he wasn’t ready. He still had some demons to deal with, and he definitely didn’t want to bring a kid into the mix until he felt he was mentally strong enough to handle anything that came his way.

If it hadn’t been for Beau … Ethan didn’t know where he’d be today. He had settled on being single forever, never having a family of his own. He’d been willing to be the world’s greatest uncle and let his brothers have the kids. He hadn’t even known he’d wanted more than that until Beau.

  “I love you, E.”

Ethan focused on Beau’s face. “I love you, too.”

“Thank you for doin’ this.” Beau waved his hand as though encompassing the room. “I think we both needed it.”

Ethan agreed. It’d been a long year. It’d started with his mother’s life-threatening illness back at the beginning. Then they’d made it through the hot summer months, which in their line of work was never easy. Of course, the entire family had been in a state of chaos since September when more Walker babies had started popping out left and right. Then they had the family reunion—a week spent at a dude ranch—back in October. It seemed there hadn’t been much downtime.

In recent months, Ethan had found himself needing some time with Beau. Without anyone else around. Some quiet time where they could regroup, relax, and gear up for the coming year. Although he tried his best to hide it from Beau, he knew his husband saw right through him. It hadn’t been easy watching all the babies being born and knowing that when the time came, and Ethan did want to have kids, they wouldn’t simply be able to impregnate someone to make it happen.

Nope, in order for them to have a family, they had to decide on a path to take. There would be forms to fill out, agencies to talk to, income to prove. In order for them to become parents, they would have to prove they were capable, that they were deserving. Quite frankly, the idea of it was daunting.

There were so many options, and at this point, he and Beau hadn’t really talked about any of them. Adoption, a surrogate… It was true, they had choices, but they were limited. And again, they had to prove they were worthy. That was the part Ethan wasn’t looking forward to. He didn’t want to be under a microscope. Didn’t want people looking at him and deciding whether or not he was good enough. He had a feeling, when they finally did get down to that, he was going to buckle under the pressure. Fortunately for him, Beau was strong enough for the both of them.

Only, they had to get to that point first.

It boiled down to the fact that they needed to discuss it soon because Ethan knew they were moving in that direction. He knew how Beau felt about kids. The man would be an incredible dad, and Ethan wanted that for him. He wanted that for them both.

Ethan smiled at Beau. Hopefully, by the end of this trip, they could go back to Coyote Ridge knowing what their next steps would be.

After all, this trip was only part of the surprise he had in store for the man he loved.

  Chapter Seven

BEAU WOKE UP the following morning to sun streaming in through the window and the scent of coffee drifting in the air. He knew Ethan was awake because they slept practically curled up together and the lack of body heat was proof that he was alone. He glanced at the clock to see… Holy shit. It was almost eleven.

Well, that explained the rumbling in his stomach.

  Time to start the day.

Fifteen minutes later, after taking care of business in the bathroom, which included brushing his teeth and a quick shower, he emerged from the bedroom to find Ethan sitting at the breakfast bar, his iPad in his hand.

  “Mornin’,” he greeted.

Ethan’s head jerked up quickly and the screen on the iPad went dark. “Mornin’. You want coffee?”

Before Beau could close the distance between them, Ethan was on his feet and heading for the coffeepot. Beau stopped him halfway, pulling Ethan up against him and planting a kiss on his mouth. Within seconds, Ethan’s tension seemed to drain, and he wrapped his arms around Beau, hugging him.

  “Coffee sounds g
reat.”

  “How ’bout food?”

Beau’s stomach rumbled his answer for him.

Ethan grinned. “Now that it’s eleven, do you want breakfast or lunch? I could make breakfast tacos—sausage and egg or bacon and egg or…”

“That sounds perfect,” Beau told him, studying the man. Why was Ethan jumpy?

Ethan laughed, but it sounded a little forced. “What sounds perfect? Which kind?”

“Both?” Beau answered, still watching Ethan before glancing down at the iPad.

Hmm. Ethan’s sudden nervousness had to be related to something he was doing or something he was reading. Knowing Ethan would tell him in his own time, Beau brushed it off and took the mug of coffee Ethan handed him before heading over to the windows and peering outside.

“It’s snowing.” Beau wasn’t sure he’d ever seen anything like this.

When they’d arrived yesterday, he’d noticed snow covering the ground. It simply hadn’t been coming from the sky. It was easy to deduce that it had at some point been snowing, but Beau had hoped he’d get the chance to see it. Now he had.

“Been doin’ it all mornin’,” Ethan said from somewhere behind him.

Beau heard the clank of pots and pans as Ethan set to work making brunch. Because he didn’t get the chance to watch him cook often, Beau opted to take Ethan’s seat at the bar and admire the man as he effortlessly moved about the kitchen. The space wasn’t quite as high-tech as their kitchen back home, but it was nice. He figured Ethan had checked it out prior to selecting this particular rental unit because he loved being in the kitchen.

“How long’ve you been up?” Beau asked, taking a sip from his cup.

“Since eight.” Ethan glanced over. “I might’ve dozed on the couch when I was watching the news.”

Beau knew that meant he’d probably crashed for another hour. The man was always in constant motion. He didn’t usually sleep past seven, even on the weekends. However, he was known to take a combat nap at times in order to catch up on his sleep.

  “Why didn’t you wake me?”

“You were snoring so good,” Ethan teased. “Figured you needed the rest.”

Beau glanced down at the iPad. “Please tell me you weren’t checking into work.”

Ethan’s blue-gray gaze slid over to the tablet, then back to the eggs he was currently cracking. “Of course not. I’m leaving that to Reese. Nothing we can do to help out right now anyway.”

It took a second for Ethan’s words to register. But then Beau remembered that Reese Tavoularis had been appointed into Jared’s role now that Ethan’s cousin was officially moving to Embers Ridge to be with Hope. Jared and Hope were in the midst of planning their wedding, along with counting down the weeks until their baby was born. Ethan had told Beau that Hope had thought she couldn’t have children because of something doctors had detected when she was a teenager. Of course, having sex with Jared without a condom had disproved that theory. Since the couple was overly excited about it, Beau figured it wasn’t a bad thing.

Of course, Reese had been a little surprised to find out that he was now in charge of running the day-to-day operations of Walker Demolition. But the guy was quickly learning the ropes. Beau didn’t doubt he’d be fine. Not to mention, this was probably the best time of the year for them to take time off. Being the holidays and all, they were rather slow.

“So, what’s on the agenda for today?”

Ethan poured the eggs into the skillet. “I got the impression you didn’t want an agenda.”

Beau smiled. He hadn’t said anything, because he was willing to do whatever Ethan wanted, but he liked the fact that Ethan had picked up on it. “It’s up to you what we do.”

Ethan’s dark eyebrows lifted when he met Beau’s gaze. A sinful smirk tugged at his mouth, and Beau knew what his husband was thinking. By the time they made it back to Texas, neither of them was going to be able to walk. Not at this rate.

“I thought maybe we’d go out in the snow for a bit,” Ethan said, as though he hadn’t been thinking of the two of them naked the same way Beau had been.

“Yeah?” Beau sipped more coffee. “You wanna make snow angels or somethin’?”

  “Or somethin’,” Ethan echoed.

“Well, I say we eat, maybe take another nap … you know, the naked kind … then we can go freeze our nuts off out there and let you roll around in the white stuff. Cool?”

Ethan nodded. “I like where your head’s at.”

“If you’re not careful, my head’s gonna be inside you…”

Ethan’s eyes flared with heat and Beau knew he’d hit his mark. “Promises, promises.”

  “Damn straight.”

TWO HOURS LATER, after their food had settled and after Beau had made good on his promise, Ethan was holding his husband’s hand as they walked through the dense trees that backed up to their cabin. The snow was at least a foot and a half deep, maybe more, Ethan wasn’t really good at gauging that sort of stuff. Regardless, because they weren’t familiar with the area, they agreed they wouldn’t go far, but Ethan wanted to check it out.

Seriously, this didn’t happen where they lived; he wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity. He’d never experienced this back home in Texas. At most, they might’ve received a couple of inches of snow at one point in his life, but even then he wasn’t sure. If it had happened, it would’ve been when he was a kid. His mother probably had pictures of him and his brothers doing something crazy with white stuff on the ground, but those pictures weren’t the ones she was quick to show everyone. She preferred the ridiculously embarrassing ones, of course.

As they trudged along, Ethan quickly realized he wasn’t a huge fan of this type of cold. The snow looked nice, but now that his bones were threatening to freeze, he accepted that checking it out from in front of the fire was a much better way to go. Did that make him a pussy? If so, so what?

Beau pulled away from Ethan, releasing his hand as he wandered a few steps away in the direction of another group of trees. He seemed to be looking at something, so Ethan kept his eye on him. Only Beau kept going, a few more steps, then a few more.

  “Where’re you goin’?”

Ethan remained where he was, eyeing his husband, waiting to see what Beau could possibly be doing. Neither of them had packed outdoor gear, so Beau was in a pair of Wranglers, with the legs tucked into his boots and his socks up to his calves. He’d gone full-on redneck today, and oddly enough, Ethan found it sexy.

Ethan’s Carhartt jacket was plenty warm in Texas but didn’t offer nearly enough protection out here. As it was, he’d thrust his hands into his pockets because he didn’t even have gloves.

While he continued to watch, Beau bent over, moving something on the ground.

“Beau? What are—?” Oh, crap. Before the words were out of his mouth, Ethan’s brain processed what was happening as soon as Beau stood up straight, his hands molding something. Something white. Something frozen.

“Hey!” Ethan took a step back, jerking his hand out of his pocket and reaching blindly for a tree behind him. “Don’t you dare, Beau Bennett. Don’t you fucking dare.”

  “Beau Bennett Walker,” Beau corrected.

That was so not the point.

As he tried to find cover, Ethan watched his husband stare back at him with a gleeful grin, a ball of snow in his hand. It seemed to be getting bigger and more compact the longer Ethan watched.

“I wanna give you the full effect of the snow,” Beau said, his tone dripping with innocence.

“I will pay you back,” Ethan threatened, leaning down and scooping up a handful of snow.

“You’ll have to catch me first.”

“Babe, I can outrun you any day of the week.” That wasn’t exactly true. Beau was a beast, but the man could run. He said it was from years of playing football. His father was always a mean ass, insisting that Beau be better than everyone else. Although his size gave him a significant advantage on defense, Mr. Bennett hadn’t bee
n convinced that was the right place for Beau, forcing him to do drills that would make him a prospect for several different positions.

In the end, an unrelated injury he’d received in high school had ruined Beau’s ability to play ball and, in turn, ruined Ben Bennett’s dream for his son. According to Beau, it was the best thing that’d ever happened.

Beau’s arm pulled back and Ethan braced for the snowball that was likely going to hit him square in the face.

“Don’t do it,” he warned again, hoping Beau would change his mind. “Fuck.”

He tried to turn at the last second but ended up with an earful of frozen white powder. He instantly retaliated, nailing Beau in the back with a snowball of his own. And then it was on. They chased one another through the trees, slipping out to launch another snowball every now and again. They probably spent more time on their asses thanks to the boots they wore, but that was okay, too.

By the time they were out of breath and agreed on a truce—in which Ethan managed to get in one more—Ethan’s fingers were numb, his nose was frozen, and his stomach hurt from laughing so damned much.

“Let’s take a hot shower,” Beau said, taking Ethan’s hand and dragging him back toward the cabin.

“We have to warm up first.”

  “That’s what the water’s for.”

“You ever dipped frozen fingers in water? That shit hurts like a motherfucker. I damn sure don’t want my nuts to endure that.”

Beau chuckled. “Fine. I’ll warm you and your nuts up first, then we’ll take a shower.”

Ethan gave him a crooked grin. “Sounds like a plan to me.” No way was he going to say no to that.

  Chapter Eight

BEAU RELAXED ON the floor beside Ethan.

After warming up from their trek in the snow, Beau had convinced Ethan to take a nap. This time, he’d been a complete gentleman, keeping his hands—mostly—to himself. They’d slept for three hours. When he’d woken up, he wasn’t alone in bed, but Ethan was already awake, simply watching him.

Because Ethan knew him so well, as soon as Beau’s eyes were open, Ethan was out of bed and on his way to the kitchen. This time, his husband had prepared grilled cheese and even pulled a bag of Doritos out of the cabinet. The man was too good to him. After they ate, Beau had convinced Ethan to lie down by the fire so they could watch the snowfall from the windows. Although he could sense Ethan was a little antsy, Beau had relented.
