Naughty Holidays 2016 Page 19

by Nicole Edwards

I remember the time when Braydon wouldn’t give me something that I wanted. We were like six at the time. I kept pulling him around by his arm until I pulled it right out of the socket. Of course, I felt bad at the time, but the funny part came when he couldn’t walk because of it. His injury had nothing to do with his legs, but for some reason he thought he couldn’t walk. Luckily, the doctor got that sucker right back where it belonged and his legs worked again. Ha!

Or, what about the time when I carved Braydon’s name into the bathroom counter? Remember that? I wanted him to get in trouble. Wait, now that I think about it, maybe you didn’t know that was me. Never mind. That was really Braydon.

Regardless of all the crap we put you through, I hope you know how much we love you. Me especially. I love you the most.

  Love, Brendon

  Letter from Kaleb Walker

  Dear Mom & Pop,

Let’s just say that I hope Mason and Kellan don’t figure out a fraction of what we did as kids. I have to give you guys props for managing to keep us in line as much as you did. I can remember so many times when Pop was ready to string us up by our shoelaces. Fun times!

I think the time I remember most was shortly after Pop had finished painting the kitchen. I remember wanting to help, but he told me I’d have to wait until I was a little bit older. He said the paintbrush was too big for me. So, rather than argue, I fished out Mom’s fingernail polish and proceeded to paint the wall in my bedroom. And the carpet. And my leg. I then invited you both to come check out the masterpiece.

Something I might’ve left out of that story was the fact that Sawyer showed me where the fingernail polish was. He even helped me to pick out which colors to use.

Sometimes I wonder how y’all made it.

  Love, Kaleb

  Letter from Sawyer Walker

  Dear Mom & Pop,

I wish I could say that all of the stunts I pulled happened as a kid, but we’d all know that wasn’t true. I’m sure you remember the signs because... Well, because those moments are definitely unforgettable.

However, when I think back to my childhood, there are a couple of moments that definitely require some reminiscing. Like the time I shot my BB gun in the house and I actually shot a hole through the refrigerator. You have to give me credit because you didn’t actually find that one until months later. That magnet, combined with Travis’s report card worked quite well at covering up the crime scene.

Or how about the time when I decided I was going to go live with Grandma? I packed my bag, hopped on my tricycle and y’all let me get at least a mile away before Pops came and picked me up, set me and my tricycle in the bed of the truck and brought me back home. The best part was when he got me out, put me on the ground and I took off again. Thought I’d teach him. Funny how I was the only one of us that was out of breath.

Lots of fond memories, Mom & Pop. I thank you for every one of them. Love you both!

  Love, Sawyer

  Letter from Travis Walker

  Dear Mom & Pop,

While I sit here trying to think of all the crazy stunts we pulled as kids, I think of so many things. I’ve shared these stories with Kylie and Gage a few times as well and I always get the same looks. The one that says, “I don’t doubt that at all.” You’d think we were rowdy or something.

The one thing I remember most is back when Sawyer was in kindergarten (maybe first grade) and we both had to stay home from school because we were sick. I convinced him that the police were going to come get us because we were skipping school and since it was illegal to skip school, we needed to hide. Well, technically, I told him that he needed to hide. You were quite upset with me at the time because he fell asleep in the dryer and I forgot about him. Now that I think about it, I guess it was a good thing I hadn’t turned it on.

And yes, I know we caused you to pull your hair out from all the crap we pulled, and now that I’ve got a rambunctious rugrat of my own, I feel your pain. I also love you for it.

  Love, Travis

  Acknowledgments

I have to thank my family first, for putting up with my craziness. From my sudden outbursts when I think of something that needs to be added or when I question why one of the characters did what they did, to the strange hours that I keep and the days on end when I’m MIA because I’m under deadline or just engrossed in a story… Y’all are incredibly tolerant of me and for that, I am forever grateful. I love you with all that I am.

My street team – The Naughty (but nice) Girls. Ladies, your daily pimping and support fills my heart with so much love. You are a blessing to me, each and every one of you.

My beta readers, Chancy and Amber I had fun with these books, and you made it all the more entertaining. Thank you for your input, I’m not sure how I could do this without you.

My copyeditor, Amy. Punctuation and grammar… well, that’s not my strong suit. But it is yours and you are truly remarkable at what you do. You simply amaze me and I am so glad that I found you.

Nicole Nation 2.0 for the constant support and love. This group of ladies has kept me going for so long, I’m not sure I’d know what to do without them.

And, of course, YOU, the reader. Your emails, messages, posts, comments, tweets… they mean more to me than you can imagine. I thrive on hearing from you, knowing that my characters and my stories have touched you in some way keeps me going. I’ve been known to shed a tear or two when reading an email because you simply bring so much joy to my life with your support. I thank you for that.
