“I got to try.”
“Okay.”
Trance took a nap, but still, his dreams eluded him.
“Well, Trance?”
“Nope, nada. No dream. Well, at least I have an idea who it is.”
“Are you sure about that? I want to be supportive of course since I care about you. But are you really sure about who the mastermind is?”
“Well, not really, but I know he’s a cop.”
“Wait a minute! So if the person in your dream is a cop, does that mean that the mastermind is a cop that we talked to yesterday?”
Trance was clearly surprised and stumped at the same time.
“Well, aren’t you the clever one. Of course! We only talked to two cops yesterday, the captain and the lieutenant. So that means… well, I don’t want to believe it, but it could be one of them.”
“Unbelievable.”
“For now, let me think first as to what we can do. Let’s just rest for the meantime.”
“Okay.”
Chapter X: All For Love
The following day, Trance was still wondering why he still hasn’t dreamed about the lady on the ledge. However, he finds out that Bridgette is missing. He tried to call Bridgette’s phone, but it was unreachable. He calls up Eva.
“Hello, Eva.”
“Hi, Trance. What’s up?”
“I’m so sorry to bother you. Bridgette left the place where we were staying and I kind of wondered if you have heard anything as to her whereabouts.”
“Is that so? Sorry, Trance. I have no clue as to where she is right now. Have you tried calling her?”
“Yes, I did, but her phone seems to have been turned off. I can’t reach her.”
“Hmmm… that’s weird. Hey, Trance. Do you have a minute?”
“Sure. What’s up?”
“I got a call early this morning telling me that he has information as to who kidnapped the deputy mayor.”
“Really? Did he tell you who he was?”
“No. But get this, he knows both you and Bridgette are alive.”
Trance was shocked to know that someone else knows that they are still alive.
“What!? We’ve only told very few people about our whereabouts. Did he tell you who he thinks the kidnapper is? Oh, by the way, I need to leave this place now. We might have been followed and I’m sure people would recognize Bridgette. What was she thinking?”
“It doesn’t matter. He didn’t tell me who it is and that I should wait for his call again. If it’s not too much, I think I can help you out. Can you come over the station? We’ll protect you here.”
“I guess that’s okay. I need to confirm who I think it is. I’ll be there in an hour.”
“Okay. See you at the station. Take care.”
“Yes. Thanks, you too.
Trance went to the police station. On his way, he saw Lieutenant Mulroney running toward the West Gold Tower. It seemed as if she was running from someone or possibly chasing someone.
He sneaked quickly behind the lieutenant. But then, it was evident. This seems to be the dream that he was having. He saw Eva run up the stairs exactly in the same fashion as the lady was in Trance’s dream.
He realized that since Eva was running up the stairs, she is the lady on the ledge and that she will be shot and will all down the building. He was so scared of this and ran after Eva.
As he was running up the stairs, there were so many things that came to his mind, if the lady on the ledge is Eva, then who is the shooter? At first, he thought that it was Eva who’s the shooter, but now, he’s clueless and anxious as to what will happen next. Will it be exactly like his dream or not?
“Eva! No! Don’t!”
Eva wasn’t able to hear Trance so she continued up the stairs. While this was happening in real life, the dream kept on playing back in his mind. However, he had no choice but to follow Eva up the stairs.
He was able to catch up to Eva considerably and at the roof deck, he saw Eva run toward the ledge in his dream. However…
“Bridgette!? No!! Stay away from the ledge! Wait for me!”
It was Bridgette who was on the ledge. On the other hand, Eva smiled and pointed a gun toward Bridgette and shot her.
“No, Bridgette!”
Trance tried to run toward Bridgette, but it was too late. She fell of the ledge. He looked toward Eva and she turned her attention toward Trance. He then evaded Eva’s shot narrowly. He pulled a gun off his pants and shot Eva in the chest.
Eva lied bloody on the floor. Trance was terribly disappointed that it was his close friend who was the shooter after all.
“Eva, why you?”
“Of course, Trance. I knew we’re friends, but I’ve always considered you as more than a friend. You’re too hung up on Bridgette that you’re neglecting me.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know.”
“I knew you didn’t that’s why I wanted to get revenge on Bridgette. I was responsible for everything that has to do with someone from the precinct, even the shooter, Cody Jameson. I even took things to the next level but kidnapping the deputy mayor and by blasting you to pieces, but it seems your dreams prevented me from doing so.
I hired all those cops, but they all failed. Again, thanks to your dreams. Sorry, about Bridgette. Every time I see her, my blood boils. And now, it’s done. I’ll be paying for what I did soon too. I’m afraid I’m not gonna last long.”
“She’s not coming back because of you!”
“I’ve loved you and I don’t want anybody to get in our way. But I guess… that’s already out of the… question.”
“I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you.”
“It doesn’t matter. You’re here now.”
Lieutenant Mulroney died in Trance’s arms. And then, the captain and rest of the police officers arrived at the scene.
“Trance, what happened here? What happened to the lieutenant?”
“Captain, it was Eva who kidnapped the deputy mayor and hired the shooter that took a shot at Bridgette.”
“Where’s Ms. Heart?”
“She was the lady on the ledge, Captain. Eva was the shooter and this is the West Gold Tower.”
“Sorry to hear about that Trance. I wish I could do something. All I could offer you is for me just to be here for you if you need a friend.”
“Thank you, captain.”
“I can’t imagine what you were feeling when you realized that you’re already experiencing the dream that you’ve been having.”
“It was inexplicable. The anxiety and worry were too much. I knew something bad would happen and I didn’t know that it was both Eva and Bridgette.”
“At least now it’s over. Sorry for your loss. Bridgette was…”
“Traaance!”
“Huh!? Bridgette!”
Bridgette walks over to Trance and slaps him.
“You dummy! You didn’t even bother looking at me.”
“Hey, sorry. Eva was dying and… Wait a minute. How come you’re here? Didn’t Eva shot you and you feel off the ledge?”
“There’s a balcony on the floor below. It broke my fall. As for Eva shooting me, she missed. I leapt off to throw her off guard.”
It was a sigh of relief from Trance. He was happy that Bridgette was still alive and well.
“I’m glad you’re safe. I tried to run after you, but…”
“I know Trance. Thanks. I remembered that in your dream, the shooter pointed the gun toward you. And true enough, she did. I’m also glad that you’re safe and this is all over now.”
“Yes, indeed.”
“Okay. We’ll take it from here. You two move on along now. Go.”
“Thanks, captain.”
“Thank you.”
The couple walked away from the scene. It was finally over. Trance’s dream has been fully realized. It was a shock to everyone and they are still mourning for the loss of a friend.
As they walked toward the sunset…
“Hey, Bridgette. I h
ad another day dream.”
“Oh, don’t start again, Trance.”
“I dreamt that we’re going to have a wonderful family. We’ll kids and they’ll be both healthy and happy, and so are we.”
“I’d love that, Trance.”
“Me too, Bridgette. That’s the best dream I have ever had.”
The End
