  About the Author

Nancy Jonker, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and impassioned psychotherapist and coach. Her professional career spans twenty-eight years and includes teaching psychology, supervising and conducting groups for therapists, and presenting at conferences held by local, state, and national organizations. Nancy’s long-standing passions include body/mind integration, physical/emotional health, and personal power for women.

Nancy grew up as the middle child of six, with two older sisters, two younger sisters, and a younger brother. Growing up with so many girls sensitized her to the multiple challenges females face.

Never satisfied with the status quo, Nancy searched for ways to break out of the mold of her small town. After finishing college, she set off to graduate school in Bowling Green, Ohio where she earned a PhD in clinical psychology. She completed her internship at Michigan State University where she first began her empowerment work with women.

Additional training in neo-Reichian bodywork allowed Nancy to hone her skills in working with the whole person, body and mind, to effect change. Her work is now more efficient and fun as women learn to use their eyes, hands and feet to increase their personal power.

In 2008, Nancy Jonker moved out of a sole proprietorship practice and founded Integrative Healing Centre, LLC where she has offered body-centered, holistic therapy to individuals, couples, and groups.

Nancy has personally used every strategy in this book—not only to write this book—but to build a business, raise two children, recover from marital setbacks, and transform from a “wanna be” powerful woman to a woman exuding competence and strength.

Nancy currently offers retreats and workshops for women executives, professionals, and entrepreneurs interested in growing their personal power, becoming more effective leaders, improving their relationships, or up-leveling their businesses.   Nancy’s Story of this Book

Writing a book reminds me a little bit of what it’s like raising a child. In the beginning, there is a sense of wonder and great possibility. Accompanying this wonder is a fair amount of apprehension about whether you’re up to the task.

Then there’s the nurturing phase where you pour everything you have into the development of this living thing. It is truly a labor of love.

Then comes the editing stage, while the creative process is still dominant, but there’s a little pushback. In the final stages of editing, it’s tempting to tweak and refine well into maturity, but the realization dawns that you’ve done as much as you realistically can and it’s time to let go. The book needs to leave the desk and launch into the world. A process to truly celebrate!

This process was brought to life for me by the Self-Publishing School and community. If you harbor a desire to write a book, tell your story, make use of your free time, or have a bigger impact, I invite you to checkout this resource. It may be your pivotal move!
