Allen Wier and Michael Knight: Thank you for not laughing me out of the Creative Writing department. I know my entertainment fiction was a lot to put up with, but you gave me a solid foundation and I’ll be forever grateful.

“Auntie” Liz Gilbert: Thank you for your smile and encouragement, in the classroom and long after it. You are still an inspiration to me. On the days when I’d rather wash a load of laundry, fold it, put it away, and wash it all over again instead of write a single word, I think of you and plow on.

Suzie Townsend: Your patience and willingness to help me dig deep into these characters and this story truly helped shape it into something wonderful. I learned so much from your insight. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

  For my family:

Uncle Gary: Your quiet support and generous nature made it possible for me to follow my dreams. You have always been the best example of what it means to serve and uplift others in a completely selfless manner.

FayFay: Thank you for being my friend, for teaching me so much, and for taking the time to walk and talk with me. Thank you for letting me read my words to you, and for encouraging me to always do my best no matter what path I’m on.

Mama Carolyn: Thank you for your love and support. Thank you for enjoying the endless hours of grandkid time so that I could sneak away and chase my dreams. Thank you for taking such good care of all of us. None of this would have been possible without you, and I will be forever grateful.

Rachel Hicks and Emily Blair: Being able to share my love of books and writing with you makes me happier than I could ever express. You both inspire me everyday with your strength and fortitude as women and mothers.

Charlie Blair: Thank you for always being there to geek out with me. I’m so thankful you’re my big brother.

Paul Blair: Thanks for your love and support. And thanks for never letting me win at Pickle. I hated you for it at the time, but now that I’ve gained perspective, I see you were only teaching me how to never give up on my dreams.
