Chapter 6
Tessa avoided deep conversation with Luke for a couple days. Not as much kissing, and no alone time. She had only been with him for a few days, she needed to make sure she wasn’t lucky number thirteen anytime soon and the way he made her feel when she was alone with him well, she wasn’t going to chance it. On Friday they went straight to the gym. Their first game was next week. Tonight was a game under the lights, so she would take the kids, assuring no intimate moments. They would stay tonight and Mom would get them Saturday around one in the afternoon.

The game was great, Luke’s passes perfect and Alex and Tommy didn’t miss one. Jade and Tessa decided that it would be fun to go to a movie and dinner on a double date tomorrow, that way they would get to see each other outside of their crazy busy schedules. Jade thought it was also a good idea so they could see how the other one’s new guy treated them so they could give any advice to the other. They were going to ask them at the end of the game.
“What was the score” Jake asked as they walked towards Alex and Luke, who were surrounded by a slew of female fans.
“Thirty four to fourteen, good guys,” Tessa said smiling at them.
“Alex, Luke” Jake said pushing through the crowd towards them, “Awesome game, 34-14 good guys!” he gave them high fives.
“They are good guys,” a crowd of girls said smiling seductively at Luke.
“I know personally that the quarterback is,” Sadi said gazing at Luke.
Tessa watched him look at her and shake his head from side to side.
“Oh here come the prosti tots,” Sadi said.
Tessa stood stewing as she stared at the ground concentrating on how not to kick Sadi’s ass all over the field.
“Tessa baby they were all for you!” Luke yelled so that she could hear him, she smirked and looked at Sadi who looked even more pissed off than usual. He walked over to her and kissed her, “My good luck charm!” and he picked her up and twirled her in a circle.
They waited as the guys showered. Sadi walked out with a crew of implants towards Tessa’s truck. “You think he likes you Tessa?” she asked.
“Well ya I do,” Tessa said smirking and shaking her head, very glad that Alex had just taken the kids.
“You’re flavor of the week, I am the only one that lasted more than a month with him, he’s going to get sick of you farm girl,” Sadi said smirking at her.
“For the record he and I have already discussed his past, um how shall I say it, mistakes, ya that’s a good word for it. He is done with you; you should try to let that sink in. I am not the reason you two broke up so maybe you should get off my case,” Tessa said sarcastically.
“It’s never over between him and I, he’ll be back,” Sadi said “and you’ll be on your ass like the rest of them.”
“Girl maybe you should get a bit of self-respect, seriously why the hell do I need to know you have been a revolving door for him, you’re pathetic, you’ve done that to yourself,” Tessa said disgusted.
“Don’t look at me like that bitch,” she said and swung at Tessa.
Tessa ducked and laughed “That all you got Sadi?”
Sadi ran and grabbed her hair, and Tessa punched her in the eye, Sadi fell to the ground and Luke and Tommy came running towards them. Jade had grabbed Tessa and pulled her back trying to stop her from kicking Sadi’s ass.
Sadi saw Luke and started crying, “Did you see what your little whore did to me,” she said as she stood up.
“Yes I did and I saw how it started,” he grabbed her arm and dragged her to her car, “Go home Sadi, we aren’t doing this again,” he said.
He watched her as she drove away and he looked wounded.

Tessa got in her truck and drove home; he followed her into the driveway. “Tessa wait,” he said as he ran to get to her before she got to the door. “Why are you angry with me?”
“Luke, I saw how you looked at her, I am not stupid. You care about her. So go be with her, and leave me alone,” she yelled at him, as she tried to get away from him.
“Tessa come with me,” he said forcing her back towards the barn.
She wanted to scream but didn’t want to alarm her family, “Get your hands off me I can walk.”
He sat on a hay bale and asked her to sit, “I will stand,” she said with a snooty tone.
“Ok listen, Sadi and I dated for about a month before we had sex, she played head games and it drove me crazy. I told her I loved her, at the time I thought I did, we had been together four months and she got pregnant. I wanted her to keep it and she wouldn’t. She had an abortion behind my back and I broke things off. I hooked up with a girl and we dated for about a month. Sadi threatened suicide, we got back together. We broke up she started seeing someone else; I was hurt which was her intention, we got back together. She was a complete bitch and I broke things off again, and started sleeping around. I guess I do care Tessa, I don’t love her, I pity her. I am sorry if that hurt you,” he explained.
Tessa sat down, and they sat quietly for a long time, “That’s a lot to absorb, a lot to go through, I’m sorry.”
“I’m sorry baby, how’s your head feeling, did you lose any of that gorgeous hair,” he asked and smiled at her.
“No but I hit her in the face, that was a first for me,” she said disappointed in herself.
“She attacked you, it’s called self-defense,” he smiled and pulled her into him.
They sat there for a long time looking out the open sliding doors out to the road. They saw a car slow down and almost stop in front of the house. “I think that was Sadi’s car,” he said.
“She is crazy isn’t she?” Tessa asked.
“Ya I think so,” he said.
He walked her to the door and kissed her, not the normal tongue action she so enjoyed but the sweet I’m sorry type, she thought. “Text me when you get home please,” she said “oh and by the way, I was never a very big football fan, but that quarterback is awesome, and superhot in those tight pants,” Tessa winked and she went inside and watched him pull out the driveway.
Tessa washed her face and brushed her teeth and climbed into bed. She put on his sweatshirt and grabbed the bear and snuggled it. Her phone chimed
-made it home baby…Luke
-thanks for letting me know your safely there….Tessa
-of course… Luke

-please trust me… Luke
-always be honest with me and I will…Tessa
-you make my head spin just thinking about you; I am falling Tessa, hard and fast… Luke
She reread the text a hundred times smiling and daydreaming about him,
-awkward silence, we ok… Luke
- Of course, goodnight…Tessa
-ok then… goodnight… Luke
-BTW…me too…Tessa
-phew, that was weird for a moment, goodnight baby… Luke

Jade came over at four to get ready, both their father’s said they could go but only because it was a double date. Jade hugged Tessa, “I have missed you so much!”
“I have missed you too, which is weird since we see each other most of the day at school, at practice and after practice when we ride home with our boys” Tessa said and laughed. “So I want to know everything, the behind the scene stuff about you and Tommy.”
“I want to know about you guys too, tell me everything.” She said laughing.
“We can make this easy, swap phones and read texts,” Tessa said smiling and they did.
Tessa read the texts, Tommy was so sweet, and they talked about music and books. He goes to church with his family every week and he has two sisters, one older, one younger. He works on the weekends at one of his parents many convenient stores. His parents have been married for twenty years and are very happy. He has not had sex yet but wants to with Jade when she is ready and he is sure she’s the one, the forever one. He writes cute silly little p
oems and sends them to her throughout the day and sometimes in the middle of the night. Tessa smiled when she finished reading them. “Jade he is amazing, I am so happy for you.”
“Wow Tessa, intense. So you never told me about Wednesday morning, do tell.” She insisted.
“He picked me up from my mom’s and brought me to school,” she said.
“Ya, so what happened for almost an hour Tessa,” Jade persisted.
“We played a game” she said smiling.
“Really like a board game, or computer?” Jade asked.
“Naked twister and he won, you should see the rules for what the loser has to give up at the end,” Tessa said laughing.
“Tessa, seriously tell me,” Jade said.
“Ok I told him that I liked the kissing thing but really wanted to get to know him, we compromised, each question answered got a kiss, it was very enlightening,” Tessa said smiling.
“You are so bad Tessa,” Jade said, “and the texts, he is falling fast and hard, that was so cute, too bad he has baggage hu? And IT followed him here, that’s a downer.”
“She is nuts,” Tessa said “I am not worried about it, we will be fine or we won’t, we shall see,” Tessa said. “What are you wearing tonight?”
“Not sure. What are you thinking?” Jade asked as she fixed her hair.
“Something that shows off the goods I’ve been hiding all summer, I have boobs now Jade,” she said laughing, “and I have you tonight so I am safe!”
“I think you should wear that long black skirt with that hot pink v neck top and your black cropped jacket with your black cowgirl boots, hair down and straight and I will put some makeup on you,” Jade smiled.
“Okay but very light makeup, Jade,” Tessa insisted. She never wore anything that fit, she was very self-conscious of her body and make up was taboo for her, the less attention the better, but not tonight. “What are you wearing Miss Jade?” she asked.
“I am wearing this,” Jade pulled out a red knee length halter dress, and a black denim jacket “with black heals,” Jade smiled.
They got busy getting ready and both of them looked great. They walked out in the kitchen and John and Jack were sitting at the table, they could not believe what their daughters looked like, and they were not happy about it. The boys picked them up and promised to have them home by midnight.

They walked out and Jade and Tessa got in the back seat and the boys in the front, their fathers watched with relief.
They pulled into a restaurant in downtown Ithaca and helped the girls out. Neither girl had ever been there. They walked in and the hostess knew Tommy, “Good evening Tom, a table for four tonight,” she asked smiling.
“Yes mama,” he said and smiled back, “Could we sit by the outdoor fireplace on the deck please?” he asked.
She led them out to the deck. The restaurant was on Cayuga Lake and they sat next to the huge fire pit. Luke and Tommy pulled the chairs out for them and they sat down, the hostess handed them all menus and excused herself.
“You look so different tonight,” Luke said as he looked at her, “You look great everyday but wow Tessa, you are looking, wow that’s all I can say.”
“Pretty girl look at you,” Tommy said, “You turned into pretty woman tonight,” Jade choked on her water, Tessa leaned over and patted her back, “You okay?” he asked.
Jade leaned over and whispered in his ear, “You do know that Pretty Woman is a movie about a hooker don’t you?” she asked her eyes widening.
“Um no, wow, you know I didn’t mean that right?” Tommy asked clearly embarrassed. “I didn’t know. Jade you watch porn?” he asked shocked.
“No!” She said loudly.
“Everything okay?” Tessa said concerned.
“Can we go to the bathroom please?” Jade said standing and taking Tessa’s hand.
Jade told her what he had said and Tessa laughed out loud, Jade looked awfully serious and then started laughing too. They went to the bathroom and washed their hands and laughed some more. They went back to the table and Tessa saw Luke trying not to laugh and Tommy looking uncomfortable. Luke and Tommy both stood and pulled out their chairs for them again.
“Funny right?” Luke whispered in Tessa’s ear as he pushed her chair in, she smirked at him.
They ordered dinner and the waitress brought a bottle of wine to the table. They all looked at each other and avoided the bottle. Luke and Tommy went to the bathroom. Tessa noticed a woman who looked like her mother sitting in the dark corner of the deck with a man. It couldn’t be she thought. It was and he was rubbing her hand. Tessa was pissed off, she couldn’t stand it. She grabbed the bottle and poured herself a glass. She drank it down before Jade could say anything and poured another.
“Tessa,” Jade whispered, “What are you doing?”
Tessa didn’t answer but continued staring in the corner and slammed another glass of wine. Jade reached for the bottle and Tessa snagged it out of her hand and poured a third glass and slammed it.
This was not like Tessa at all, Jade thought “What the hell are you doing?” she asked again.
“I am being naughty and liking it,” Tessa said and poured another glass. Jade tried to take it, “If you do I will scream and we will all get in trouble, leave it alone,” she said glaring and she drank the fourth, the bottle was almost gone when the boys returned. Luke noticed the glass in front of Tessa and looked at her. Her eyes where glassy and she was clearly tipsy. Tessa poured yet another class of wine staring in the same direction; she drank it in two gulps. Jade followed her eyes and say her aunt sitting in the corner holding hands with some man.
“Tessa, let’s go to the bathroom,” Jade said, “Now,” they stood and Tessa stumbled, after she gained her footing they walked to the bathroom. “Oh Tessa I am sorry,” Jade said and hugged her.
“Fuck that,” Tessa said loudly.
Tommy’s phone chimed
-if the food is there can you get it to go, sorry just don’t think we should stay, can you send Luke out to the car to unlock it so I can get Tessa out of here….J
-Luke is on his way I will wait for the meals…T
Tessa and Jade were standing by the car when Luke walked out. “Hey ladies,” he said as he pushed the button unlocking the door.
Tessa started to laugh, and jumped on him wrapping her legs around him; she grabbed his head and kissed him wildly. He pulled away, “Easy tiger,” he laughed, “Jade what the hell is going on,” he asked.
“Well obviously my cousin is drunk, and just so you know this is a first for her,” Jade said as she pulled Tessa down from him. Music started playing in the background and Tessa started dancing by herself in an empty parking space beside Luke’s car.
“Luke come dance with me and I will tell you all about it,” Tessa said laughing. “Jade here’s my purse get the money out and pay for my first bottle of wine and grab me another.”
Luke handed Jade his credit card, “I got dinner, skip the bottle to go and help Tommy out of this jam, if there’s any problem text me, oh and leave a good tip that might help,” he was watching Tessa dance and was very amused.
Jade walked quickly into the restaurant, and Luke walked to Tessa. “Hey baby what’s going on?” he asked.
“I am dancing and I want you,” she smiled and pulled him by the waist and smiled looking down, “to dance, or something with me,” she laughed.
“How about we talk over here for a minute first,” he said leading her to a bench in the garden area.
“I don’t want to talk,” she said as she wrapped her legs around him and sat on his lap, “I want to dance or kiss your incredibly sexy face,” she began kissing him, he kissed her back this time, she pulled away slowly taking his bottom lip with her.
“Tessa I love this, but you’re drunk,” Luke said his voice deeper than usual.
“Yes I am, but I know what I want and I am sitting on it, do you know what you want Luke?” she grabbed his hand and placed it on her
ass, “This right?”
He shook his head slowly up and down, “But not when you’re loaded and your cousin and Tommy will be out here any minute.”
“Then how about these?” she said taking his hands and putting them on her chest.
“Tessa,” Luke said pulling his hands away, “Stop please your killing me.”
“Ya know I think I will be good in bed,” she said holding his hand to her chest, “Or right here on the bench,” she said and laughed, she looked at him and tilted her head, “Why so serious Luke, this is supposed to be fun right? And just think you got to second base on our first date,” she laughed and he stood up with her wrapped around him and carried her to the car, he opened the door and sat her in the seat. Tessa was laughing, Luke was not.
Tommy and Jade came out and got in the backseat. Luke pulled out of the driveway and headed north. “I have to pee, can you pull over,” Tessa said trying to open the door.
“In a minute we will pull into the park up here alright?” Luke asked holding her back.
“Sure, I would love to pee in the park,” Tessa laughed, “Pee in the park!”
They pulled into the parking area and she jumped out and threw her coat in the car, “I hear music, after I pee I am going to dance with you Luke, dirty dance,” she laughed and ran towards the restroom. Jade ran after her.
“She okay?” Tommy asked.
“Apparently not but I have no idea what brought this on, but drunk Tessa could get me in a whole lot of trouble,” Luke said laughing.
“Her Mom was there having dinner with some man, in the corner on the deck holding hands. Jade made sure she saw us. Pretty damn uncomfortable situation. She must be hurting pretty bad, be careful. We have to keep her out till she sobers up a bit,” Tommy said shaking his head as he nodded towards the bathrooms.
Luke reached in the glove box and grabbed a couple ibuprofen, popped the trunk and grabbed a few waters. “Why don’t you grab the food we need to get something into her, or she’ll be in a lot more trouble.”
They were walking towards the restroom when Jade and Tessa came out, “So, I squatted and peed because public toilets carry germs and diseases. By the way Luke do you have any STD’s?” Tessa asked and he shook his head no. “Good to know, so I wiped and washed my hands and now I am ready to find that music and dance, let’s go,” she said and started skipping towards the sound.
