Chaos looked down at his bare feet then up at MacKenzie. "You'll fuse me to this stone floor?"
"When you're ready," she agreed with a nod.
"Make it a strong bond," he growled then closed his eyes again and rested his cheek on Torrie's head.
MacKenzie gave the petite blond a nod and Torrie disengaged herself from Chaos, stepping away from him. The look on her face told us it was the last thing in the world she wanted to do.
"Nay," Chaos snarled, his head hanging as he glared out at her from beneath his lowered brow, a line of sweat trickling down the side of his face. "Not yet. Stay with me until I make the change."
The tiny lass straightened her shoulders as she looked up at him. Then she took a step back in his direction and boldly pressed her lips against his.
Chaos strained toward her, his tortured gaze angled down on her face, his lips shaping against her mouth as he turned to stone.
And as my cousin made the change, I shared a brief look with Victor and Reason. In their expressions I saw stark, unrelenting determination. We'd need that kind of resolve if we were going to keep Chaos safe. We couldn't let the harpy find him and we couldn't let him break free. We couldn't afford to lose him, not now. The stakes had never been higher. Because tomorrow was the vernal equinox—the first day of spring.

About the Author
Hi! I'm Taylor Longford and I live with my family in Colorado. I don't have red hair like MacKenzie Campbell but I do drive an old Jeep Cherokee with 290,000 miles on it. I've rolled it once and it looks like crap but it still goes fast! If I can make a living as a writer, I’ll buy something a bit nicer and write some more stories.
