The Cartel 7--Illuminati--Roundtable of Bosses Page 22

“Give me my money, nigga!” Joey gloated, his boyish charm oozing out as he gave a mischievous smirk.

Mo went into his glove box and sourly pulled out three thick rubber-banded knots of green bills before tossing them out the window. “Yeah, yeah. You got lucky,” Mo stated. “You know you got to give me a chance to win that back.” He had just lost twenty grand in seconds, but it was worth the high of the race.

“Your ass would gamble on two ants on the sidewalk, my G,” Joey cracked as he climbed back into his car.

Mo chuckled but didn’t respond because he knew it was true. He lived a high-stakes lifestyle at all times. Everything was a gamble.

“Yo you still got the hookup on that fight in a few months? You putting bread on that?” Joey asked.

  Mo nodded. “Absolutely.”

Mo hadn’t seen C.J. in thirteen years but as soon as he saw the billboards around the city he recognized him. The fight was a big deal and Mo would be ringside. They had a lot of catching up to do. Family was scarce in Mo’s world these days and he couldn’t wait to surprise C.J. at the fight.

Life had taken them down two different paths. Mo was getting his in the dirt and Miami was his playground. Running the streets was as natural to him as water to a fish and he took to the underworld as soon as they released him from lockup. His name rang strong and true on these streets and Mo was getting a lot of money, just as the Diamond men before him had done. He had no idea where C.J. had been all these years but he was about to welcome him back home. He hoped that C.J. wanted in because together they could take over and claim the throne that was rightfully theirs.

Mo revved up the engine and looked up at the billboard at his cousin’s face before speeding off.

A new era was about to bring heat to the Miami streets and Mo was going to prove to the entire city that his family hadn’t fallen off. A smirk spread across his lips because he knew what was to come and he couldn’t wait to take his piece of the pie. He gripped the steering wheel tightly with one hand and rested his other on the pretty girl’s thigh beside him as he thought, Niggas thought we were done. We just getting started. Diamonds are forever.
