“I see where you made that connection, but every master is different and there’s no set rules that all masters follow. It’s really down to both of us to decide how we have a relationship. I will always take your views on board, although I reserve the right to disregard them; particularly at times when I know best. Once you’ve become a more confident reader, and started writing, I’ll set you assignments to research all this. I would expect you to use a combination of reference books and your own thoughts and feelings to identify and explain your point of view on a range of things just like the monogamy question.”
“There’s references about that?” Laila lost herself in his sparkling pink eyes again.
“Of course. On Minos Kerala, there’s an entire university devoted to growth and research within BDSM,” he said. “The library there is unparalleled. Right now though, you have a decision to make. Would you like some time to think it over? You need to be certain it’s what you want.”
The idea of delaying this was unthinkable, when they could be blasted to smithereens at any moment by Gar-Kon’s henchmen. Laila never wanted to lose Flin again.
“No, I am sure. I have a lot of questions about how things will work, what I need to do, all that, but I want this. I want you. I want to be your slave,” Laila said, trying the words out to see how they sounded. It felt delicious to speak those words.
“Do you want me to answer any of those questions right now?” Flin asked.
Laila shook her head.
“In that case, I own you,” Flin said. “Your pussy, your ripe lips, and your thoughts and feelings; they’re all mine. So my first act as your master is to order you to forgive yourself for nearly getting me killed on Parathos. I’d tell you to forgive yourself for causing Basil so much distress, too, but that’s not down to me, and he intends to punish you separately.”
Laila had a moment of confusion where she realized how she felt about what had nearly happened to Flin. She was mad at herself for causing him to be in danger to rescue her, because she felt loyal to him and wanted to never harm him. Now he’d told her to forgive herself, though, her own free agency didn’t matter. It didn’t matter that her self-anger stemmed from loyalty to him; he had told her to forgive herself, so she had no choice. A feeling of lightness in her neck and shoulders accompanied this line of thought. She couldn’t choose to hold herself accountable when he’d told her not to. He’d given her permission to stop worrying about it.
“I promise that I will try my best to forgive myself, since you’ve just punished me and all,” Laila conceded. Flin smiled again.
“Good. All I ask is that you try your best. I’ll hold you accountable from now on.”
“So… do I need to call you master all the time, now?” It was her next most pressing question.
“No. I like the sound of my name on your lips too much. I’ll tell you when I want you to address me as master.”
“I have one request,” Laila said, feeling slightly nervous about bringing it up. “Since you’ve stretched me so much today with that humongous butt plug, can you fuck me in the ass, please?”
Flin’s smile broadened.
“Of course I can claim your delightful virgin ass,” he said. “Get up on all fours.”
Laila disentangled herself from the hug and got up onto her hands and knees on the bed, with her legs slightly apart to allow him easier access. She was slightly nervous in case this didn’t work, but so excited to try it all the same.
She felt pressure, like the butt plug but warmer, and the texture was not the same; Flin’s cock even felt totally different pressing at the entrance of her ass to how it felt when he entered her pussy.
“Press back against me, please; this is just like putting the butt plug inside you,” Flin coached her. Laila pressed back, and her ass, stretched from the butt plug earlier, yielded gradually. She sighed in delight at the wonderful new full feeling in her ass. His cock just kept on going until the whole length was inside her, and she moaned in ecstasy. There was a glowing, buzzing feeling with a slight edge to it as he began to move in and out of her with gentle strokes. The feeling made her lust for him to take her hard. It took under a minute before she was poised on the edge of another orgasm—and this one felt totally different to the ones she’d felt in her clit and pussy.
“Flin, please, can I come?”
Flin continued fucking her for a moment, and she supposed he was considering her request.
“You’re not close enough,” he replied a few seconds later.
Laila continued to get ever closer, digging the heels of her hands into the bed to get some purchase so she could push back against him for more friction.
He spanked her ass again.
“Stop moving.”
“Sorry. I just really want to come,” Laila said.
Flin leaned forward so close she could feel his hot breath on her ear as he breathed the words, “Yes, but you’re mine now, which means your orgasms aren’t yours to take anymore. They’re mine to give. So you will not come, or I will spank that red bottom of yours with the paddle again.”
His tone gave her chills and her clit started pulsing. The idea of getting paddled again after so much punishment made her pussy twitch, and she started to worry that she was going to come. That only seemed to make it closer, as Flin continued to fuck her ass.
“Are you desperate yet?” he murmured in her ear.
“Yes!” Laila practically yelled.
“Too bad; I’m not feeling generous right now.” Flin fucked her harder and Laila thought maybe she could come without him noticing. She tensed her legs, ready to let go but a sharp spank on her ass stopped her.
“Bad,” he said, still fucking her hard. “I’m going to count down from three. When I reach one, you can come.”
Laila nodded, hoping he would count quickly.
“Three.”
Her senses narrowed in focus, until all she was paying attention to was her ass being pounded by Flin’s enormous cock.
“Two.”
The nerves inside her entrance were glowing brightly, ready to make the connections and pull her into an orgasm.
“One. Come for me, Laila; come on my cock.”
He slammed into her ass and Laila hurtled into an intense, searing orgasm that filled her with waves of the strongest pleasure she’d ever experienced. She threw her head back as her spine arched, and she screamed as she came. She felt her ass pulsing around Flin’s huge cock, and she felt him drive into her, the hot come spurting into her ass and filling her with its warmth when he came too.
When they had finished, they both fell sideways and lay on the bed, too stunned to even get under the covers. Laila felt exhausted, like she’d given Flin everything from inside herself—for now, anyway.
Her thoughts had receded back to a quiet simmering of partial ideas, the circular carousel of anxiety had left her, and she had nothing to say. Flin didn’t speak either, whether he was too tired or contented, Laila neither knew nor had the energy to ask, but she was glad he was beside her. After a while, Laila felt herself drifting into some much-needed sleep, and she was powerless to fight it.

When Laila awoke, something felt strange. She could feel the air on her skin, proving she was naked, but she felt like she was wearing clothing. As she moved to look down at her body, she could feel something against her neck. She touched it. It was a soft fabric collar, perhaps even the same one she’d been wearing yesterday with the leash.
“It’s a training collar.” Flin was awake and sitting next to her. “It proves you’re owned but still being trained, so for example on Minos Kerala, where collared slaves are commonplace, nobody will expect you to know protocol or how to do anything, but they will know they can’t collar you themselves—and that, for example, you would need your master’s permission if you made a new friend and were invited out by them. Your obedience training starts right now. I will expect you to obey me instantly, completely, and wholeheartedly—as in,
actually want to do it—in all things, but it will take time to get to that point. For now, go and clean yourself up in the bathroom. Don’t worry, the collar’s waterproof,” he said.
Laila got down from the bed and headed toward the bathroom. From the moment she’d left Flin’s cabin until she looked in the mirror above the toothbrushes, she’d been oblivious of the fact that she was naked, but now she remembered.
She stared at her reflection in the mirror, astounded that such a small thing as a little fabric collar could make such a big difference to her feelings and mood. He was her master now! She felt elated, curious, maybe even slightly proud that Flin had seen fit to collar her, even with a training collar, and more than anything, underscoring all the other emotions, she felt something she’d never experienced in her life: a sense of belonging.
Chapter Seventeen
Basil wondered whether Gar-Kon was really this fussy about the quorak egg or if it was all just an act to scare them. For the last two hours, he and Flin had stood in Gar-Kon’s tasteless throne room, while Gar-Kon had gone through the rigmarole of putting the egg through a test to prove it was genuine. Basil was fairly certain the infrared scanner had given Gar-Kon his results hours ago—that, or the machine was incapable of proving one way or the other—but still, they were waiting.
“The results say the egg is genuine,” Gar-Kon said, picking up the egg. “So I’m close to calling off the search for Laila. You just need to do one more thing for me.”
“We’ve brought you the egg; that was the deal!” Flin growled.
“After you’se two clowns have delivered the egg to the buyer, Laila will never hear from me again,” Gar-Kon said.
“That wasn’t part of our arrangement,” Basil stated.
“My best delivery boys exploded their ship’s engine two days ago, they both died or somethin’, so I need this delivery makin’, and you’se two are delivery boys.” Gar-Kon pulled out a flick knife and started cleaning out his nails.
“We’re not doing it,” Flin said flatly.
“You will want to reconsider, when you hear that I have Laila’s mother, Bertha, in a secure location. If you’se don’t do what I tell ya… well, I’d hate for something to happen to poor Bertha. She got a lot of money in exchange for Laila, so when Laila split, I arranged a refund. Turns out she’d spent a lot of it already, but I always get my money back. Anyways, Laila would never forgive you’se if you’se caused her mother to come to some harm. Sensitive girl such as her, it might even drive her mad with guilt, after the way she left her own mother destitute like that. Hur hur hur.”
Basil had never hated anyone as much as he hated Gar-Kon at that moment. The gangster wannabe had Basil and Flin over a barrel, and Basil knew it. He tried not to glare at the awful man.
“Fine. We’ll deliver the egg. But then we’re through. No more games,” he said.
“That is the right choice. You’se have got twenty-four hours to make the delivery and return here to report that it is done.”
“Where are we supposed to take this egg in twenty-four hours?” Flin interjected. “It’s barely enough time to reach the next system.”
“It’s a rendezvous on Tefan. I’ll put the navigation coordinates into your tablet.” Gar-Kon held out his hand.
“No, thanks; you’d steal my watch. Speak them to me and I’ll note them down myself,” Flin said. Basil wished Flin would kick it down a notch; his confrontational attitude might well get them killed. Flin took the location from Gar-Kon and the two men left.

Basil stared out into space from his seat in the cockpit. This was all getting too big. He liked clean jobs with neat beginnings and endings, not sprawling messy spaghetti monsters that were all tangled around one another. If it weren’t for Laila, he’d have walked away from this long ago. Basil hated feeling penned in, controlled, beholden to someone who had no right to it. The feeling permeated his thoughts with the sharp scent of peroxide, fading everything it touched, until he could concentrate on nothing but how much he hated feeling like this. The idea of letting Gar-Kon get his claws back into Laila, leaving her to feel every day like Basil did right now, was unthinkable.
“So, d’you think our buyer is a biologist trying to avoid red tape or a terrorist wanting to unleash a quorak on some unsuspecting population?” Flin asked, breaking the long silence.
“Neither. Maybe he’s a breeder in exotic animals. Some planets have a high-end market for quorak meat, quorak skin jackets, and quorak oil’s probably good for something too. Even if it’s useless, someone out there’ll sell it as a cure for impotence. There’s always someone stupid enough to buy snake oil. Maybe the buyer wants a wild stud quorak to liven up the gene pool a bit, so his quorak hides look greener?” Basil suggested. Flin laughed, but Basil simply shrugged.
Basil knew the buyer was probably a criminal element of some description. If he had half a mind to it, he was sure he could open the most successful private investigator firm in the allied galaxies. He had so many contacts, and so much insider information into the criminal underworlds, both across Andromeda and beyond, that he’d make a fortune. Sooner or later, though, he’d end up dead, same as all the other honest detectives. The Interplanetary Alliance law enforcement didn’t like independent and honest detectives poking their noses around the galaxy. Basil had spent his life in the half-hearted pursuit of not ending up dead, and wasn’t about to change his mind at his age.
“Our buyer’s clearly up to no good. Usually I’d say, ‘who are we to judge?’ but in this case, I just want to make Gar-Kon look really stupid. I wish we had time to get a fake egg made,” Basil said.
“Are you kidding me? I’m an artist in more than just the bedroom, my friend!” Flin declared. “What would you do with a fake egg?”
“I’d give the buyer the fake, then go back to Gar-Kon and force him to call off the search before handing back the real thing, leaving him to do the explaining to his buyer.”
“How would that stop him from doing the same thing to Laila in the future? Advertising a reward for her return to Pombos, that is?” Flin asked.
“We could just sever Pombos’s internet connection as we leave. They’re still on the ancient satellite service. I guess it’s probably only intended for diplomats, visiting mining tycoons from off-world, and the assorted Pombos governments. Gar-Kon must be hijacking it to get online at all, because your average Pombossian has no internet access. They’re still in the age of steam on the surface, remember?” Basil wondered whether they could get away with it.
“That’s not a bad idea, Basil. How can we sever it?”
“A few well-placed shots to any of the satellites between Pombos and Tefan oughta do it,” Basil said. “After Tefan, all the information’s sent direct by hyperwaves.”
“Why not just wreck it all now, forget the egg, and leave?”
“Because we need Gar-Kon to remove his advert before we remove his internet access. Don’t worry, once he’s done it, I’ll fix it so he shouldn’t be back online for months, or longer. You know it’s impossible to get the Prime planets to fix the communications systems on the outer planets when they get the smallest problem. Picture how long it’d take for them to fix a half dozen satellites and realign them to receive the signals.”
“I’d be surprised if they even looked at repairing it this decade. After all, it’s not like anyone on the Prime planets gives a fuck about Pombos. I’ll go copy the egg.” Flin got up and left Basil to his thoughts. Not long after, Laila came to see him.
“Daddy?” She was holding Mr. Unicorn. Things hadn’t been squared between them yet, and since Flin had unofficially collared her recently, Basil was feeling like the third wheel. It was a shitty move, for Flin to collar her before Basil could punish her for what went down on Parathos, and despite Basil’s feelings for her, his need to protect her, he was distancing himself from Laila whenever he could. He didn’t want to come between them if they were happier with each other.
“Wh
at do you want, Laila?” he asked testily.
She sat down in the empty copilot’s seat and stared out into space, then took a deep breath and spoke.
“Can you punish me soon, please? I can’t stand all this uncertainty and guilt. It’s worse than just getting spanked. I don’t know how to make everything okay between us, but I want to so bad that my heart hurts every time I think about what I did. I know you’re still mad at me because you’re barely talking to me. And it’s not Flin’s fault, either. It’s mine. So please punish me.” Laila hid her face behind her unicorn, and Basil’s heart wrenched.
“I will, just as soon as we’ve gotten rid of the quorak egg—and gotten Gar-Kon out of our lives. I want to take my time over punishing you, and right now I just don’t have any,” Basil said. “You want to know if I’m still upset with you, don’t you?”
Laila nodded, staring at him with those big, round brown eyes of hers, lined with the thick, long dark lashes, making her look like a gazelle.
“Of course I am, Laila, I’m heartbroken. Until I can punish you, I’m not going to feel like things are square either. You broke my trust, and I don’t know how you can earn it back at this point.” He started to feel everything rising to the surface, so he stopped talking.
Every night, he went to bed and closed his eyes, and saw Laila at the top of that huge tree, a reptile snapping at her. Every single night, he couldn’t get the heart-shattering image out of his mind. How could she expect things to be okay again? He nearly lost his little girl, so soon after he found her. Didn’t she understand that? Didn’t she understand what she meant to him, how cherished she was? No daddy ever wanted to see their little girl like that, in mortal danger while they were unable to do anything but watch. And Flin rescued her; the half-elf, instead of Basil. It should have been him, Basil thought. How could she even think of him as her daddy when he’d not kept her safe?
