I grabbed something alcoholic from the mini bar. The hotel was nice enough, but their selection wasn’t exactly top shelf. Whatever. It would take the edge off. That’s all I needed. Bottle in hand, I crossed to the living room, threw myself down and grabbed the remote. The back of my jeans buzzed and I set my drink down, ready to tell whoever was on the other line to ‘fuck off’.
“What the hell do you want?” I growled into the phone. I secretly hoped it was a reporter so I could tear them a new asshole. It’d feel good.
“Trey?”
The soft voice froze my anger, trapping it in a ball, and I immediately felt like the world’s biggest asshole. “Josie?” I asked, dropping my voice.
“Yeah, it’s me. I hope it’s okay that I called…”
I shook my head, stunned by her words. “Of course it is. Where are you?”
“Home.”
I pushed up from the couch and started pacing again, my mini-drink abandoned on the end table beside the couch. “I’m sure you saw the whole fuckin’ mess on TV.”
She hesitated. “Well, at work, actually.”
I winced. “Even better. Damn it. Josie, I—”
“Hey, Trey, I didn’t call to get news or anything. I just wanted to see if you’re okay.”
I stopped walking. Who was this woman? She just witnessed a very nasty scene of me and another woman and yet, instead of asking me a million questions, she just wanted to know how I was holding up?
“Trey? Are you still there?”
“Uhm…yeah…” I paused and rubbed at the back of my neck, unsure of how to answer her question. It was in my nature to want to gloss over it, like every other so-called scandal I’d been messed up in. But there was something nagging at me. Something telling me that she could handle the truth. She could handle the real me.
“Oh, okay. Good. Sometimes my phone is sketchy.”
I chuckled. “Nah, I’m here. I’m all right… I mean… as well as I can be, I guess.”
“You wanna talk? Or do you need some time?”
“You know what I actually need?”
“What?”
“I need to get the hell out of town. You remember when we first met, that day on the tarmac?”
“Sure…”
“I kinda gave you a hard time and asked if you’d give me riding lessons,” I added, not mentioning that I’d been more interested in her riding me.
Josie laughed. “Yeah. I remember. I thought you were a super-douche!”
I laughed, dropping my head down. “To be fair, you were right.”
Josie’s giggle petered off. “It turns out you’re not so bad.”
My heart went still in my chest. Damn, I’d never wanted a woman so bad in my life. And this time, it wasn’t just any damn woman. It was her. Josie. Everything about her. I needed her in my arms. In my bed. I wanted her voice to drown out the ones screaming inside my head. “Any chance you’d be willing to give me those lessons after all? A little country air might be just what I need.”
Josie paused, long enough that I thought she’d hung up. That I’d scared her off. She had every right to turn and run. Hell, most people did after long enough with me. I was a lot to handle.
“I was actually thinking of going to my daddy’s ranch…I’m working on a story and need a few days away from the noise myself.”
My heart kicked back to life and I released a pent up breath I didn’t even realize I was holding. “That sounds fuckin’ amazing.”
She laughed again and I pictured that sweet smile on her beautiful face. Every muscle went taunt. “All right, but don’t be surprised if my daddy comes out to meet you with a damn shotgun.”
“Bring it on, baby.”
Chapter Twenty-Four
Josie
After a whirlwind of twenty-four hours, I found myself tucked into a posh, leather chair beside Trey on a private plane from Oklahoma City to Dallas. The world disappeared below us and I’d never felt so free. Apparently, telling a room full of co-workers off and escaping on a private jet with one of the world’s hottest bachelors was the right medication for all my troubles.
Well, almost.
There was still the pesky problem in that I had no idea what I wanted with Trey. Besides the obvious booty call.
“Damn, it feels good to be on my own plane,” he said, relaxing back as we stabilized in the air. “Not a bad view, either,” he said, not taking his eyes off of me. My cheeks warmed and he chuckled. “I think it’s funny how you still get all flustered around me.”
I rolled my eyes and slapped him lightly on the forearm. He captured my fingers and brought them up to his lips, pressing a soft kiss against the tips in a slow, seductive way that had me clenching my thighs. Damn him. He knew just how to rile me up and then bring me back down again. It was exhilarating and exhausting all at once. “Don’t flatter yourself,” I said, tugging my fingers free of his grip.
He shrugged, still giving me that cocky, self-satisfied smile. “Come on, you gotta admit—this is pretty damn sweet.”
I glanced to the right and watched the sea of clouds that we were cutting through. “It is. It’ll be nice to get home for a while.”
“When was the last time you brought a guy home with you?”
I whipped back around. “Is that what you think this is?”
He grinned. “Isn’t it?”
I sighed. “No. It’s not. I’m not going to call you my boyfriend or anything, if that’s what you’re thinking. And we sure as hell will be sleeping in separate bedrooms.”
“Pity,” he said, walking his fingers up my bare leg.
Why had I worn shorts? I should have known he wouldn’t be able to keep his hands to himself. “Trey…” I said, my words more of a whispered plea than a real protest.
He stilled his hand, right at the hem of my denim cut offs. “What?” He rolled his eyes up the side of my body, taking in every inch, before locking them on mine.
“We’re just friends, remember?”
“If you say so, baby girl.”
I scoffed and pushed his hand away. “I’m being serious, Trey. I don’t need you going down to Texas and getting my parents all excited.”
He pushed up so he was sitting a little taller in his chair. “Trust me, angel. No parent would be excited to know their daughter was with me.”
“You’d be surprised…”
“They want you to get married that badly? They don’t care if he’s some cocky, asshole baseball player with a bad reputation and an alleged baby mama?”
I shrugged and then turned away to watch out the window. As I considered his question, I chewed nervously at my lip. I wasn’t sure what they were going to think. They didn’t even know I was coming. I figured if they didn’t know—I could buy myself a little more time to figure out whether I’d even go see them. It wasn’t like there weren’t other things Trey and I could do in Texas. We could go to another ranch. Someplace anonymous. Well, at least as anonymous as I could be with Trey by my side. All Trey wanted was to escape Oklahoma City and all the media drama. And all I wanted was to see if I could get close to Michael Arlington and see what the hell he was up to.
“Hey,” Trey said, his soft tone calling me back. I glanced over at him again and found his eyes soft. “What’s going on in that pretty head of yours? You know I was just teasin’ ya, right?”
“Oh, I know. I was just thinking that maybe we should stay somewhere else. I mean…wouldn’t that be easier?”
Trey considered it for a moment and then hitched one of his broad shoulders. “I guess so. It’s up to you. They’re your parents.”
The sadness that I’d seen for the first time in Trey’s hotel room came creeping back. Something about the lined edges around his eyes. Like he’d been carrying something incredibly heavy for a long time. I set my hand on his knee and he met my eyes. “It’ll be fine. We’ll go see them.”
He brightened. “All right. So, for our next order of business, how serious are you about the separ
ate room thing?”
I laughed and shook my head, marveling at his one track mind. “You’re impossible!”
“I think you’ve told me that a time or two.”
“Not surprising.” I dropped my attention to my hand that was still resting against his knee. It had inched up his thigh of its own accord and was now mid-thigh. What the hell is wrong with me?
Trey smirked at me. His signature, half-cocked grin made the sweet spot between my thighs ache and throb. It really wasn’t fair. What chance did I stand against that smile? That body? The haunting memories of pleasure he’d given to me in the past.
“Trey…”
He stopped my words with a kiss and it was like waking up after a long sleep. The kiss deepened and I got lost in the moment, suspended in time. It was just Trey and me. The rest of it didn’t matter anymore. His hand slipped up my thigh again, and I squirmed, wishing he’d inch up a little higher and bring me some relief. His other hand got tangled in my long, loose strands of hair. I’d flat ironed my waves into a stick-straight do, but I knew that by the time Trey got done with me, I’d be a hot mess all over again. Hell, I didn’t care. The way his tongue swept over my lips took my breath away and I didn’t care much about anything.
With impatient hands, he tugged my hips over toward him, and I crawled over the console between us. Trey flipped a switch and reclined his seat back and I tumbled into his lap. I giggled as I rested against his chest and looked into his eyes. “It’s a good thing we didn’t fly commercial. I’m pretty sure they would have separated us by now,” I teased.
“You ever join the mile high club?” Trey asked, grinning up at me, his fingers getting tangled back in my hair.
“No…should I even bother asking if you’re a member?” I asked with a laugh.
Trey shrugged. “Not with anyone I actually gave a shit about.”
“Oh, you give a shit about me? That’s sweet. You should put that on a Hallmark card or something.”
Trey laughed but smacked my ass as a playful punishment. My eyes went wide at the slap and his darkened, seeing my excitement. “You’re pure trouble, baby. You know that?”
I smiled. “That’s kinda your thing though, huh?”
He kissed me again and I had my answer. I was definitely Trey’s kinda thing. My hips rolled over his, rubbing myself against the hardness in his pants. Trey moaned into my mouth and tugged my head back with a gentle pull at my hair. “Damn it, Jo.”
I grinned down at him and rocked over him once again, even slower. He hissed out an impatient breath and muttered a string of curses. The private jet wasn’t exactly private. Besides the pilot, there was a co-pilot, who was also in the cockpit. And the stewardess, who might appear at any moment to see if we needed anything. Neither of us wanted to be bare ass naked going at it, but it was getting harder to resist the urge to tear off Trey’s clothes and let him have his way with me right there in the reclining leather seat.
He walked his fingers up my stomach and cupped my breast in his hand. His thumb ran along my nipple and I sucked in a quick breath. “Two can play at that game…”
“How long is this damn flight again?” I asked, my eyes sliding closed.
Trey kissed the side of my neck and continued teasing my nipple until I moaned softly. “Two more hours…”
“Fuck.”
He laughed softly and nibbled at my ear. “Uh-huh…clearly I should have reserved a plane with a bedroom.”
“They have those?” I asked, my eyes popping open again. My father was wealthy, and had probably flown in his fair share of chartered jets for business purposes, but that hadn’t trickled down to my childhood. When we flew as a family, we were in coach, just like everyone else, and while we stayed at nice hotels when we went on vacation, we never had the penthouse. Trey’s wealth—his world—was on an entirely different level.
“Yeah. Makes a red eye a helluva lot more comfortable.”
“Damn. I guess so.”
Trey laughed. “We don’t have a bed on this flight, but you know, the bathrooms on these things are like three times the size of a commercial plane.”
My eyes went wide. “Oh?”
“Uh-huh…” Trey kissed me again, his tongue hot and searching, in a hurry to get me worked up. Not that it took much. Our kiss broke apart all too suddenly when he flipped us back to an upright position. I wrapped my arms around his neck to keep from being thrown to the floor by his quick motion. He stood, effortlessly sweeping me into his arms, and I tightened my arms around him.
Seconds later, we were crashing through the bathroom door, tangled together, and frantically pulling at one another to get our clothing out of the way. Trey flipped the lock and then stripped my tee shirt over my head. My bra hit the floor next and I lunged to work on his belt and the fly on his jeans. When my own jeans were down around my ankles, Trey lifted me up and set me on the edge of the large, marble counter. I took a beat, only just realizing the magnitude of the space we were in.
“Damn! You weren’t kidding. This thing is bigger than my guest bathroom back home!”
Trey laughed and pulled the fitted jeans from my ankles, leaving my wedge sandals on. His eyes cut to the throbbing place between my thighs and he sucked in a sharp breath at the large wet spot on my navy blue panties. “Damn girl. I need to get a taste of that.”
I met his eyes and then slowly spread my thighs open, inviting him to do whatever he damn well pleased. I tugged at his shirt, wanting to watch his muscles pulse and roll as he knelt between my legs. Trey ripped my panties off in one fluid motion and they quickly joined the pile of discarded clothes on the tiled floor. He grabbed my hips and pulled me towards him so that I was barely perched on the edge of the counter.
Next, he pulled off his shirt and tossed it in the pile. He knelt down and instinctively, my hands reached out and got lost in his hair. It had grown out since the last time we’d been together and I loved being able to bury my fingers in his thick, dark waves. His back muscles flexed and I was mesmerized watching them move. His tongue teased my pussy lips, lapping slowly and then with a little more pressure, taunting me. “Trey…God…that’s good.”
He teased me a little while longer, getting me close, and then backing off. He’d go licking down my thighs, then back to my aching cunt. I begged for him to finish me. My nails scratched his head, then his back…pleading with him, my voice low and thick. “Trey…please…”
He flashed a dangerous smile up at me but did as I asked. He knew exactly what to do and after the anticipation—the waiting—he slid his fingers inside and my orgasm ripped right through me and in his face like a full blown tsunami.
I melted off the counter and into Trey’s arms. He wiped his face with his shoulder and kissed me fiercely. The taste of me on his delicious lips. Damn. He was it. Heaven in a pair of old blue jeans.
My hand slipped into the waistband of his jeans and gripped his cock. He groaned as I stroked down the shaft and I smiled lazily. I loved the power that pleasuring him gave me—but I was still coming down from a tsunami-driven outer space.
Impatiently, he spun me around and met my eyes in the mirror. I looked like a hot mess. He smiled, causing me to smile, silently sharing the memory of the first time we’d done this—in his hotel room—watching our reflection in the windows. So much had changed since that night. But Trey still felt the same—strong, powerful, gentle and attentive all at the same time. He entered me and I moaned his name. The sound of it echoed through the small bathroom, reverberating through my ears in a seductive way, as though it weren’t even my voice.
“Damn, baby, I love how you say my name,” Trey growled, his hands gripping my hips and pulling me back against him.
I bit my lip and pressed my eyes closed tight against the bursts of pleasure that filled me as he moved deeper.
“I missed you,” he said, his next confession raw and ragged. “I missed this sweet ass and that damn perfect pussy.”
I smiled up at him in the mirror but my mou
th dropped open a beat later as he slammed into me. “Oh fuck…”
“Yeah, baby. You like it hard, huh?”
I nodded, unashamed. Being with Trey not only made me feel free—but sexy and wild as well. I didn’t worry about what he thought, how I looked, or what I should do next. I mean—I’d just squirted all over his face and all it did was turn him on even more. Everything was natural and easy. There wasn’t thoughts or judgments. What we shared was pure and unfiltered. The opposite of any man I’d ever had before him.
I had no idea what was happening between us, but I knew each time we were together, it was harder to walk away and pretend I didn’t want more. And I was no longer able to say that it was just because of the hot monkey sex. Trey continued to surprise me, and now, I had four days with him in Texas to discover what else he was hiding.
Chapter Twenty-Five
Josie
“You all right over there?”
I glanced over at Trey and forced a smile. “Yeah.” I was all right, considering my pussy was still throbbing, I was wet, boneless, and spent.
He arched an eyebrow at me but returned his eyes to the road without another question. Which was a good thing. At least, at the moment. I wasn’t sure what I was feeling and I sure didn’t want him asking questions. If I couldn’t explain it to myself, there was no way in hell I could try and make him understand. He was a man after all.
After my initiation into the mile-high club, we landed at the Dallas Fort-Worth Airport and then rented a car and hit the road. My parents’ ranch was outside the city, about an hour away, and I was glad for the extra time.
At the airport, I’d left Trey to use the restroom and called my parents. I didn’t want my—our—arrival to be a complete surprise. I’d mentioned I was bringing a guest, but had chickened out when it came to actually telling them the full story. How was I supposed to explain that I was bringing home the infamous Trey Delgado? If Daddy had seen the news—and I was sure he had—he’d know all about Trey’s indiscretions, and I wasn’t about to explain in the corner of a crowded ladies room. It wasn’t the right time—or place.
