Gabby seemed a bit put off by the question. She cleared her throat. “Yeah. I’m fine. Why?”
“Well, I just noticed you don’t seem quite yourself today. I just want you to know that if anything is bothering you or if there is anything you want to talk about—anything at all—that I’m here for you. You can tell me.”
Gabby took a deep breath. She seemed to be busting at the seams but she just smiled and said,” I’m fine.”
Logan groaned silently. “I’m fine” in woman speak usually meant “I’m anything but fine”.
“Ok,” Logan said. He did not want to follow up, but he could not restrain himself. “Baby, please tell me. I might be able to help.”
Gabby tried to keep a straight face but her lip began to quiver as a teardrop fell from her left eye. She wiped it away furiously.
“What is it?” Logan asked again handing her a tissue.
“I am really scared,” she said.
“What are you scared of? Us?” Logan hoped it wasn’t us. He had started to feel more for Gabby every day and he hoped that they were on the same page.
“No. You remember Adam? I told you about him, the guy that I grew up with. We were high school sweethearts. I broke up with him right before I moved here.”
“Yeah,” Logan said. She had mentioned him once or twice in conversation. “What about him?”
“He’s been harassing me,” Gabby said. Logan clenched his fist as he felt the familiar anger slowly course through his veins.
“What do you mean? What did he do?”
“He has been calling me nonstop, he is always drunk, he says there is no way that I am not going to be his and that we belong together. Last night he came to my dad’s house. He was there in the dark on the porch when you dropped me off. I was so scared; I had no idea what he was going to do, or what he might do still.”
Logan was getting angry.
“Did he do anything to you? Did he lay a finger on you?”
“No, no. He just said a lot of crazy stuff about how we will be together and I don’t have a choice in the matter. He has taken a flying leap. He has completely lost his mind.”
“Did you call the police?”
“No, they won’t do anything. He hasn’t really broken any laws and he has not directly threatened me. Everything he is saying is abstract.”
Logan felt his blood boiling and his teeth beginning to grind. He wanted to snap this little worm in half. The idea that some guy was terrorizing Gabby conjured up the anger that he had not felt since he and Gabby first started working together. He was going to fix this.
No matter what.
Logan walked over to Gabby and stood her up. He wrapped her in his comforting arms and kissed her on the forehead while stroking her hair.
“It’s ok. Nothing is going to happen to you as long as I’m around.”
That was a promise. And Logan always kept his promises.
Chapter 12
Gabby
Gabby was already feeling better after just talking things over with Logan. It was silly for her to try to bottle everything up because she didn’t want to bother him with her issues. She had this image of him telling her to get lost or just pulling away from her because he didn’t want to deal with her baggage. Logan Brower did not strike her as the kind of man who cared for weakness of any sort. He was a take charge kind of guy and even though she’d seen sweetness in him since they started seeing each other she still had the feeling that he hated to ever get emotional about anything.
This both perplexed her and turned her on. It was nice that he was so strong and sure of himself; it helped her feel the same way knowing that he would always be there to take care of her, but at the same time she did hate to show weakness herself. She did not like to be taken care of or to feel that she needed anyone. Gabby had always got by just dealing with things herself. Her father had raised her that way and her mother had basically just been more of a friend than a mother. Growing up the way she did where she always felt completely out of place made her strong beyond her years and deep down she was proud of this.
She felt a bit ashamed to break down the way she did in Logan’s office, but when he cuddled her and told her it was all going to be alright she loved it. The tenderness he was showing her proved that he cared and that maybe for the first time in her life she was not alone. There was someone who cared.
And this turned her on both emotionally and physically.
Logan recommended that she take the evening and get some rest. He knew what the hours were doing to her. She wanted to say no and have another wonderful night like they’d been having every night the past week, but she knew he was right. She needed a good, restful night’s sleep without going out. It was unbelievable how much stamina Logan had. He could keep going nonstop and smile about it. She wished she could tap into that level of energy.
Logan offered to drive her straight home from the office. She typically took the subway downtown to work because it was easier and kind of a nice way to destress early in the morning so her car was safe and sound at home. She’d just assumed they were going out again that night and did not worry about transportation. The subway was still there even if it was way more crowded that time of day.
B the time they were in the car the steam was already heating up between the two of them. It seemed that Logan was really going to miss their hot activities that night. The moment they were in the limo he was already kissing her, grabbing her and pulling her close to him, massaging her large chest.
His very touch turned her on like a light switch instantly hot and bothered. She could feel her innermost orifice getting wetter by the second, priming itself, getting ready, preparing for battle. She had been turned on ever since their conversation earlier in the day. If Logan had not been about to enter an important conference call then they might have had one of their midday romps right then and there in the office.
Gabby loved getting it on in the office. There was something so naughty, so dangerous about the fact that Kris and Jessica were right on the other side of the door in their work area. They could probably hear a moan or two here and there, even when Logan turned the music on his stereo up higher. Gabby never knew that she had any fetishes or exhibitionistic tendencies but Logan brought it out of her. She would never come right out and tell anyone about their private lives but a part of her wanted to rub it all right in their faces. She wanted other women to envy her a bit, the fact that she was where they all wanted to be and Logan had chosen her. She had never considered herself vain or self-centered but she was enjoying this. Being with Logan and living the lifestyle brought out qualities in her she never knew were there before.
She moaned loudly as Logan’s fingers entered her wetness. She was dripping down his fingers, glistening in the dim light of the limo. Logan proceeded to push deeper and deeper using three fingers now and stretching her to capacity. His hands were so thick… long fingers… just like his cock… she could not wait to get on to it.
Gabby did not waste time letting Logan set the pace this time. She was overcome with an animal lust that was impossible to deny. Her hands fumbled momentarily with his belt and then unzipped his pants and pulling the front down to spring his thick, succulent member free.
It stood up high and proud, stretching and quivering at the touch from her delicate hands. She began to squeeze it slightly and moved her hand up and down. Logan’s moans were exhilarating to her, music to her ears cranking up her own desires far past eleven into new heights.
The two of them leaned back eyes locked on each other’s, their hands manually stimulating each other enjoying the mutual exchange of total pleasure. It was a test to see who could hold out the longest before they exploded with total blissful pleasure. Logan was biting his lip, his eyes rolling up in his head as he tried to maintain her gaze and continued to finger her tight wetness. She was getting close, but oh so was he. She wondered who would finish first.
He was so good. His fingers so strong, so deeply
inside of her all of them plucking different strings to bring forth her finale. Her arms were getting tired as she moved up and down at a furious pace now paying special attention to the head at the top of each stroke. She wanted him to explode all over. The sight of his eruption would be more than enough to trigger her own epic climax.
The car stopped suddenly. They heard the driver get out of the front seat and start towards the back.
Logan quickly locked the doors manually from the back just before the familiar click of the handle being tried. A second later the knock came from the driver.
“Sir? We are at the destination. Did you want me to keep driving?”
Gabby was laughing hysterically now. The sight of the two of them working each other while the driver waited outside was too much to handle. Logan looked at her and burst out laughing too. The mood was now too funny to be sexy any longer.
“Ugh. Denied!” Logan hissed with a smile.
“Guess we are taking care of ourselves tonight,” Gabby teased. “You can just think of that later.”
She pulled her panties up and straightened her dress while Logan put back on his pants, zipped and fastened and then, tucked his shirt in. He looked like a million bucks once again.
Logan unlocked the door and got out of the car. He came around and got Gabby leading her by the hand as she stepped out onto her steps. Gabby had to wonder what the neighbors thought with this limo stopping at the house. Usually late at night Logan dropped her off in one of his sports cars, which was strange enough but now a limo was there. Her father lived in a nice middle class neighborhood, but nothing at all ritzy.
Logan escorted Gabby up the walkway to her porch.
That was when they saw him.
Adam was sitting on the porch swing just out of view behind the big bush on the corner of the house. But there he was swigging a bottle of whiskey and looking like a total mess. He was snarling angry, total disgust in his eyes.
“Well, well…” Adam said. “Look who it is?”
Gabby could feel Logan tense up as he let go of her hand. His body language changed from one of escort to bodyguard in the blink of an eye.
What was going to happen here?
“What are you doing here?” Gabby asked.
“Well, aren’t you going to introduce me to your friend?” Adam asked. He was now stepping down off the porch and getting closer to them.
“Who is this?” Logan asked.
“Adam, I told you that it was over. How many times do I have to say it!” Gabby pleaded.
“This is Adam?” Logan asked. He didn’t wait for an answer as he strode toward Adam aggressively. Logan was about four inches taller and thirty pounds heavier—all of it muscle. Adam did not seem to register any of this as he got in Logan’s face.
“In the flesh…” Adam purred sarcastically.
“Adam just go!” Gabby yelled.
“You have one chance,” Logan said. His voice was low and menacing. “Get lost and stay lost, or suffer the consequences.”
“Fuck you!” Adam yelled.
He pushed Logan.
“Logan!” Gabby yelled, terrified of what was about to happen. She didn’t even recognize her own screams.
What she saw next would haunt her dreams for some time to come.
Logan punched Adam square in the face dropping him to the sidewalk. Adam was hurt. He was bleeding profusely from the nose now as he tried to make sense of what had just hit him.
“That’s enough!” Gabby pleaded with Logan.
But Logan was in a rage. She’d never seen him like this. It was as if a rabid dog had just been awakened inside of him or a demon with no identifiable name. Logan pounced on Adam planting his knee on his chest. Then he began to rain hard right handed fists on Adam’s face over and over again.
“Logan! No! What are you doing?” Gabby pleaded. She grabbed Logan’s arm and tried to pull him back but he ignored her as if she were not there. He was punching both rights and lefts now turning Adam’s face into hamburger.
He was going to kill him. Logan was going to beat Adam to death.
“Logan! Stop! You are killing him!” She pleaded, squealing.
Joanne came running out on the porch.
“Oh, my God!” Joanne yelled.
Gabby had to do something. She ran up to Logan and slapped him as hard as she could across the face.
Logan instantly stopped and looked up at her. His arm was still raised back to hit Adam again.
He was moving as if in slow motion like he’d just awakened from some dark dream. His eyes fixated on Gabby asking “What did I do? What is going on?”
Then he looked down at the bloody face of Adam. Gabby saw the realization hit him just then.
He stood up and tried to explain himself but Gabby couldn’t listen. She had to get Adam some help.
She crouched over Adam to see if he was still conscious. She couldn’t tell; there was just too much blood.
“Call an ambulance!” She yelled at Joanne who was already doing so.
“Gabby! I’m sorry. I had no choice… let me explain…” Logan stammered as he staggered back.
Gabby had never seen him scared before until that moment.
And she couldn’t have cared less.
“Go leave!” Gabby screamed. “Just go away!”
Logan paused a moment and then ordered his driver to drive as he got in the back of the limo. It sped off a moment later.
Gabby did not watch the tail lights leave this time.
Chapter 13
Logan
“This is Gabby. I’m off on some epic adventure no doubt. Leave a message at the beep.”
The voice mail beeped and Logan began to speak. “Gabby, It’s me again. Look I really need to talk to you. Just a few minutes on the phone. That’s all I’m asking. Please call me back. My calendar is clear the rest of the day. Please… hope to hear from you.” Logan paused then added, “I love you.”
He ended the call and thought over what had to be the tenth voicemail he’d left Gabby in the past three days. She had not come in to work, refused to speak to him, and refused to answer the door when he went by her house. She had cut him out of her life.
And the pain was unreal.
Logan was not able to get any work done, he couldn’t concentrate or think about anything but her and how much pain he’d caused her, he couldn’t sleep—practically everything in the world now felt empty and dark.
He’d never known a love like this and he’d never known a pain like this either. He thought he’d been devastated when Rachel betrayed him, but this hurt ten times worse. He truly loved Gabby and this was his fault. He messed up.
What was he thinking? What kind of wild rage had come over him? Where had it come from? It was like some sort of dormant but long awaited evil had just risen within him and unleashed itself on that poor guy.
Logan was just trying to protect Gabby, that’s all. That was where it had come from and that was all it was supposed to be. But somehow, he didn’t know how, it all got so warped. He just wanted to know how to fix it. He had to speak to her. He had to tell her how sorry he was.
But she refused to see him.
Logan kept expecting cops to come to his door, but so far, no charges had been pressed. Yesterday he’d called the hospital to find out information about Adam. He didn’t even know the guy’s last name but he told them it was an assault and they instantly knew what happened.
Luckily Adam was not seriously injured. He had several cuts, lost a few teeth, and a dislocated jaw they were able to reset. He would be in pain for a while but he would be ok.
Logan was sure the only reason the beating was not more severe is because the lighting was bad. The sun had started going down and the porch light was off as usual. Several of the punches were glancing blows and not direct hits because of this. That’s the only explanation he could come up with; there was nothing else remotely plausible. Plus, Gabby had been trying to pull him away, thankfully. It could ha
ve been so much worse.
Gabby had been terrified. He knew that she still was. And she had every right to be. He’d never lost control like that with someone and it was only because he cared about her so much that it had happened. Of course, that sounded insane to explain to her. It almost sounded like it was her fault.
He just wanted her to contact him back. He had to hear her sweet voice, see her once again, and hold her in his arms.
Logan was not sure he could go on without her. There had to be a way to make it right…
There just had to be a way.
Chapter 14
Gabby
“Thanks, sweetie.”
Gabby handed her dad the water and watched him take his pills for his high blood pressure. She made sure that it was all gone and then took the water glass back from him.
Her dad had been remarkably better the past few days. He hadn’t experienced any lapses in memory or any other issues lately. She didn’t want to get her hopes up though; she knew this was normal. Alzheimer’s was a terrible progressive disease. It would only get worse, even if he had his good days and his bad days. She just had to hold onto the good days as often as she could and embrace them, locking them away in her memories of better times when she had her real dad back.
She was starting to make him a sandwich when the doorbell rang. Gabby stopped what she was doing and stared at the door. She knew who it was. Logan had been calling her nonstop since the night of the fight and he had stopped by a few times to try to talk with her. But she wasn’t ready.
Seeing him that way… murder in his eyes… he was like someone she didn’t know and didn’t want to know. How did he let himself just lose control that way? It was the scariest thing she’d ever seen. She really thought Adam was going to be killed. It was a miracle he suffered only minor injuries.
And surprisingly Adam did not want to press charges. He appreciated her being at the hospital with her but once he sobered up he apologized and they talked. He finally agreed to leave her alone and to get the help he needed with his drinking and his depression over her. They parted ways and Gabby hoped that one day he would find the right girl for him.
