“Wow,” Kyle said in amazement. He was starting to see why he’d been chosen to attend spy school and promoted at a young age. He was absolutely amazing!
“Wait until you see the final product” Paul said grinning, but his hands didn’t stop what they were doing. In twenty minutes exactly, Paul was finished with all three watches. Jenny frowned.
“These look like…. well regular watches.” Kyle said nothing though. These watches were just like Paul was; more than what meets the eye.
“Are you sure?” Paul said and slapped his watch around his wrist. “Can a regular watch shoot lasers?” Paul said and balled up a piece of paper and put it down on a table where both Jenny and Kyle could see. He aimed his watch at it and it shot out a red beam which eliminated the piece of paper instantly. Kyle gasped.
“Wicked!” he shouted and smiled. Jenny’s eyes went bigger then.
“Can a regular watch make you hover in the air?” Paul asked and pointed his watch at the ground. He pushed a button and flames shot out of his watch and pushed his feet into the air where he remained for a full minute. “Can regular watches shrink stuff?” Paul asked again with his signature smile. He pointed the watch at a broken chair in the corner and it shrunk as soon as he pushed the button.
“Give me mine!” Jenny said hopping up and down. Paul wrapped her watch around her wrist and she stared at it lovingly. “Thank you so much!” Jenny said and hugged Paul. Paul laughed and looked at Kyle.
“Here’s yours leader.” Paul said and handed Kyle his watch. Kyle took it and looked at it for a long time. This had to be the coolest thing that he’s ever seen. He couldn’t believe that Paul was able to make this. He wrapped the watch around his wrist still looking at it with amazement. When he snapped the clasp in place he thought, ‘With this, I’ll become the greatest spy’.

“They’re here!!” someone yelled from down the hall. The students’ stopped what they were doing and looked outside the building. It seemed like hundreds of girls got off of the buses. Each of them looked very serious wearing pink and white with their hair in buns.
“Wow, they look like the real deal,” Jenny whispered. Even Paul appeared a little disheveled by how serious and professional they looked. Kyle looked down at the watch that Paul made for them a little while ago. It was exactly noon.
“We can do this,” Kyle said confidently. Jenny’s plan seemed plausible and doable. She told them not to speak on friendly terms with the Lola girls and not to get too close to them because they didn’t know what they were capable of. She told them to never let the girls talk them into anything and not to help them if they appeared to be hurt because it would more than likely be a trap!
“Yes,” Paul agreed. The students of Montgomery watched as the students from Lola stopped and they watched each other intently. Kyle made it his mission to look each and every girl straight in their eyes to show that he wasn’t afraid of them. Mr. Dove pushed through the crowd of students and made his way outside where a tall and serious looking woman walked over to him.
“She looks scary,” Layla said as Robyn and she made their way over to Jenny.
“Tell me about it,” Jenny nodded in agreement.
“Keep focused!” Kyle said to Jenny and she squeaked.
“Yes… Yes sir!” she said and her attention turned back to the students outside. Mr. Dove shared a few words with the woman and motioned with his hand for the students to come outside.
“Montgomery Junior Spy Students,” Mr. Dove’s voice was loud and full of authority. “Meet the students’ from Lola Spy Junior High,” neither party said anything to each other, not wanting to be distracted for a single moment. Mr. Dove cleared his throat and began speaking again. “Since we were the ones who were challenged, we have the choice of choosing what we want to do.” This caught the students’ attention so all eyes went to Mr. Dove.
“In a few moments our campus will turn into a forest filled with any creature that you can imagine. You will be able to feel pain, but you will never be in true danger. Let’s see which school will do better in this environment.” Mr. Dove pushed a button and in a matter of seconds, their school had transformed into a massive forest and the teachers were nowhere to be found.
“Let’s go ladies,” A girl from Lola said and the girls took off running into the forest.
“Let’s go,” Kyle turned and looked towards Paul and Jenny. They nodded their heads and they too ran. Tree branches and spider webs hit them in the face as they ran throughout the forest.
“What exactly are we supposed to be doing?” Jenny asked trying desperately to control her breathing.
“We’re just seeing who can survive better in this forest,” Paul said equally as winded as Jenny.
“We should climb up a tree or something to make sure we’re not heading towards danger,” Kyle suggested and they stopped running then. They heard movement all around them, but oddly enough they could see nobody else.
“We should look around in different spots,” Jenny suggested. “That way we’ll have more options.”
“Good thinking,” Paul said. “I’ll go this way!” Paul pointed and took off running. After a few seconds, they could not see Paul through the large grass.
“Be careful Kyle,” Jenny said and went in the opposite direction.
“You too,” Kyle said and looked up into the sky. He’ll take this tree. Kyle held his watch down facing the ground and pushed the button. Soon he was flying higher and higher into the air until he had made it to the tallest part. While he was hovering in the air, he couldn’t help to imagine how cool he must have looked at that moment.
He sat down on the thickest part of the tree branch and looked around. He could see the Lola girls and students from his class running around frantically. He saw a few students fall onto the ground where larger tigers quickly cornered them. He had to keep telling himself that they were not in any real danger, but actually seeing this made him a little uneasy. Just as he was about to fly back to the ground, he heard a gentle voice.
“Um… can you help me please?” he turned and saw a red haired girl with a pink and white uniform.
Chapter Six
Kyle didn’t know what to do at that moment. The girl was small and she looked frightened. Was she being serious? Kyle kept asking himself.
“Excuse me?” the girl said again and Kyle flinched.
“Oh yes, I heard you. What’s wrong?” the girl blushed then.
“I climbed up this tree to get away from all of this commotion.” She moved a red strand of hair out of her face. “I really don’t want to do this; I’m not even interested in being a spy. My mom made me go to Lola, but I think the whole thing is stupid.” The girl placed her hands over her eyes and began whimpering.
“Please don’t cry,” Kyle said and began scooting over to her. He felt bad for the girl; she was clearly in a situation that she didn’t want to be in. He thought about what Jenny said and he shook his head. He had nothing to worry about when it came to this girl. “Get on my back, I’ll carry you down.” Kyle turned around so that his back was facing the girl. The red haired girl took her hands from her eyes and sniffed.
“Thank you,” she said and moved closer to him. “For being so naïve” she said and laughed. Just when Kyle was about to turn around, her small hand clasped around Kyle’s wrist and pulled off his watch. “So long!” she said and kicked him off of the tree. Kyle couldn’t believe how quickly he had been deceived. His body fell fast and he knew that his landing would hurt a great deal. When he landed, all of the wind was knocked out of his body.
“Ow!” Kyle groaned and lifted his body off of the ground. The fall was terrible, but he was able to stand in a few seconds. “I’ve been fooled!” Kyle yelled and punched the tree. He was told that the girls would probably be deceptive, but he still fell for it. He was mentally beating himself up when a movement caught his eye.
“Help me, Kyle!” Jenny screamed as she emerged from the grass followe
d by a rhino. Paul emerged from the grass as well.
“Jenny!” Paul yelled and aimed his watch at the rhino and shot out his lasers, he missed. Kyle reached for his watch and after realizing the girl had taken it, he ran over to the rhino and jumped on its horn. It tried to shake him off, but Kyle kept his grip and eventually ripped off the horn. He landed on the ground with a thud and noticed that the environment around them had disappeared and they were at the school again.
“Time’s up!” Mr. Dove shouted. The students’ looked around in confusion, “Lola Spy Junior High School has been disqualified, and Montgomery wins this challenge.”
“What happened?” Paul asked, looking around. Mr. Dove looked at Kyle then.
“Miss Red over there hurt a student, which was against the rules,” Kyle looked away then and blushed. He only got hurt by her because Kyle didn’t follow the plan. “And this…” Mr. Dove pointed to a student that nobody recognized.
“That’s my watch!” Paul said, as he noticed the young boy holding it in his hand. The boy handed it to Mr. Dove.
“This watch was used by Miss Red to change George into a kid.”
“George!” Everyone shouted. George was the spy that had helped them train earlier.
“Yes, I’m George.” The boy said with a deep voice not fit for a child.
“I’m sorry,” Kyle said. “That girl over there took my watch before she kicked me out of the tree.” Jenny turned to Kyle quickly.
“You shouldn’t have been that close to her!” Jenny said angrily and Mr. Dove walked over to Kyle.
“Even though this unfortunate event happened to George, your team did a great job.” Kyle, Jenny, and Paul grinned. “Unfortunately, because of this slip up, you’ll not receive the prize of getting promoted to a more advanced class.” Kyle’s face fell then and he looked over to George’s new body and shivered. He was happy that he was praised by Mr. Dove and that their team had won, but he still knew that he had let everyone down.
Kyle couldn’t look anyone in the eyes. He was ashamed that he was the weakest in the group when he was supposed to have been their leader. He had to make it up to them. He had to turn George back into an adult and he had to get Jenny’s, Paul’s, and his promotion. In order to do that though, Kyle needed to train harder. First he had some explaining to do with his team, which would be the most difficult thing that he had ever done.
