Yeah, it said a lot.
He gestured her to the crystalline chairs that made her feel like she was sitting on water when she lowered to them, and the king rolled the cart before her. With a mischievous grin, he waved a hand over the dishes as he lifted the lids of their containers, setting two, large shell-like plates before them.
When he'd filled her plate with the ambrosial varieties she'd pointed to, as well as his own, he took a seat across from her, settling into the meal before even attempting conversation. It seemed he very much wanted to keep from scaring her away.
But by the second course of the delectable breakfast, the previous night's conversation became inevitable.
“I overwhelmed you. I am sorry for that.”
A king secure enough in his manhood that he apologized? Huh.
“It's okay. I'm still not sure what to make of it all. But I believe you're being sincere about what you believe. I'm sure it wasn't easy dropping that particular bomb. I've never met any family member with violet eyes or opalescent skin, though. My family couldn't be more ordinary. I can't help but think you're mistaken.”
Biting into a large, bulbous fruit with sweet pink inner fibers, the king listened to her intently as she spoke.
“I just don't want us to get caught up in the wrong ideas, you know?”
Chewing as she spoke, the king finally swallowed the lush fruit.
“There is no mistaking the heart, Genie. It knows what it knows. My heart aches for you."
“But, we barely...”
The look in his eyes haunted her, the sadness she saw there somehow filling her with knowing that he firmly believed what he was telling her. That it meant a great deal to him.
Switching gears, she attempted to rephrase.
“You barely know me. What if you're making a mistake?”
“There is no mistaking the heart,” Sesh reaffirmed.
Genie sighed at that, shaken by the intensity of his gaze and the feelings it stirred in her. There was no denying how attracted she was to him. He was beyond gorgeous, and when he'd taken her hand the previous night, her body had reacted instantly.
The pragmatist in her was struggling for a life raft, but the unwavering focus in the king's eyes told her to at least give him a chance to make his case. Maybe there were papers, or there was some sort of traceable trail that would help her learn which ancestor the king believed was Tentai.
Nipping her lip and averting her eyes, she wrung her hands in her lap before she dredged up the courage to give him even the smallest inch.
“Help me understand.”
A warmth filling the king's gaze, a soft smile crossed his mouth, and he claimed a juicy strawberry-hybrid from the large bowl of fruits on his cart.
His eyes beckoned her to lean closer and claim it.
Genie knew she was playing with fire in the instant. What exactly had she just given consent to... hell, requested? And did she really want him to stop feeding her hybrid-fruits?
If she was being truthful she was already wrapped up in the otherwordly chemistry magnetizing them closer, and she was losing her usually restrained reaction to these sorts of situations. Rapidly spinning out of her usual sense of control.
Live a little, indeed.
Eyes flicking from her favorite berry ever, hesitantly, she lowered her head to claim it with her teeth. It felt sexy and daring, not at all like how she typically handled things. Life as a worker bee isn't always... sexy. But this? This was... Like something out of one of her favorite romance apps. Something she'd read voraciously, on the edge of her seat to see if the heroine would indeed give into the king.
But this wasn't a romance app she was reading. This was real life. And she was the heroine... being pursued by a frigging king.
The hunger in this particular king's eyes burned through her. She'd employed restraint on many occasions, but not with sexy of this magnitude. A flare of warmth surged through her as he took her hand and pressed a kiss to her fingers. And then he released her fingers and rose up to stand before her.
Answering the unspoken call of passion she spied in him, Genie rose up, too, her nerves washing over with a resolve she didn't have the strength to talk herself out of now. The passion, and familiarity she saw in his eyes as she gazed into those dark, fanciful pools made it all too clear: this wasn't lust. This was something deeper than her conscious mind could travel with understanding.
She felt it in her cells now as the unmistakable feeling of home coursed through her. Her mind attempted to interfere, sure, telling her that he was hypnotizing her with his ether tricks, but that wasn't it.
In Genie's heart, she knew that wasn't it. She knew her own heart, and the way it was reacting to him right now was unlike anything she'd ever felt. Even to the point that she was pretty sure she was going to break her 'never on the first date' rule.
Because, as strange as it sounded, she knew now that it wouldn't just be for one night. She could admit it to herself with a strange, intuited certainty now.
And when their lips touched, the kiss they shared was slow and gentle, something they both savored with the softest brush of tongues. There was a knowing innocence in it that made it clear they had plenty of time to give into the inferno of desire building up between them.
It wasn't until the king released her flushed lips from his that she was met with a full-on decision.
“I hope this isn't moving too quickly for you. I only meant to show you that-”
Proceed or no, in other words.
Proceed.
Silencing him with her kiss, Genie swallowed his words before he could finish his thought. Yes, this was too fast. Yes, it was crazy. No, she wasn't sure she was part alien. But this, this thing between them? It was real.
Pulling away once more with a formidable darkening in his eyes, the king looked her over as if searching her to be sure. Then he took her hand and led her down from the first deck, through a winding hall to a palatial chamber. A rounded space with a round bed and the most lushly dark curtains hanging down from the ceiling, draping everything in the promise of sex.
Genie wondered how many women he'd bedded there.
“None.”
“I thought you weren't reading my thoughts, anymore.”
“It is difficult to block them out when I am this... vital.”
He meant, aroused. But he was too classy to say it.
“Oh.”
He claimed her lips then, just under the towering threshold as the hovercraft doors slid closed. Kissing him more hungrily now, Genie's hands sought the inky soft of his hair as his hands wrapped around her, and he pulled down the door curtain before lifting her up.
Almost gasping into the kiss, high fire flared at Genie's core as her legs wrapped around him and he backed them both onto the round bed that waited in all its luxurious wrappings.
His eyes meeting hers with an almost desperate vulnerability, he released her lips and trailed soft kisses down her neck, nipping her skin, inhaling her scent. When his hands closed around her breasts through the flower-like robe dress she'd put on before agreeing to breakfast with him, Genie's breath caught in her throat.
Eyes darkening, Sesh opened her robe to him patiently.
Looking over her nakedness, the king shuddered with desire as the flower tie-on fell around her hips. Heat wet her sex as Genie stared into his eyes, feeling him, really feeling him with a foreign sense that scared the shit out of her – thought not enough to make her stop looking.
Was this really her man? Was he... meant to her husband? Her life mate? Everything about the way he looked at her said: Yes.
Taking his lips again, their tongues dancing more wildly now, and Genie shifted on his lap, wholly unable to control her reaction to him. Panting softly, her hips made circles against him that grew less and less shy as she felt him harden. When he groaned, her core flared with a deepening of arousal, and she released his mouth to nip and kiss and gently bite his ears and neck.
Then she pulled
back and met his eyes boldly, her hands undoing the knots in his Tenta robe until she utterly freed his nakedness, too. Stars, he was glorious. Muscular, but lithe, the ripple and cut of him further enflamed her. Pulling him into a wild kiss, her hands closed around the wondrous girth of him where veins corded him like live, climbing ivy.
Pulsing with arousal, her hand ascended and descended his length, marveling as his eyes took on the color of ink and stars, like a Kalion's, brought out by his arousal or excitement.
He watched her stroke him with interest, and her grip tightened as she tugged his skin up and down in a rhythm that told him she was ready to know him, deeply, intimately. More than ready.
Feeling his hands around the generous globes of her backside, Genie nipped his lips, stroking him with more intensity. But he wanted more now. She could see that. Relate to that. They both wanted more.
Claiming his lips once more, she raised herself over him, her heart thudding in her chest as he gestured her down, hissing as the swelled head of his shaft penetrated her, stretching her with the impossible thickness of him. Bravely, she inched down further, accepting the unavoidable pinch of skin as he stretched her sex to capacity and filled her completely.
His eyes narrowed to half-crescents as he drove himself deeper, and Genie circled her hips wildly against him, awash in ecstasy chemicals no other man had ever released in her.
It was when his pace quickened that she felt something wake in her, in direct response to him. Something that knew him... understood him. Gushing and wild with arousal as he claimed her with formidable thrusts, binding them fast and deep in a voracious rhythm that threatened to consume them both if they weren't careful, Genie shuddered against him.
The king claimed her lips feverishly in response. It was a kiss that whispered forever as his pace slowed, drawing out his claim of her. Genie answered it with intensified welcome, her heart pounding in her kiss. The part of her that was waking offered another message: Yes. To whatever this was. Yes. To forever. Exclusively.
Licking her pouty lips, the king nipped them as their bodies crashed against one another. In perfect sync. Perfect understanding.
Their kiss subdued, gentle, more careful as their arousal tightened into a surging, climbing burst of ecstasy threatening imminent explosion. The king doubled the force of her electric burst when he lowered his lips to claim an aureole and sucked it onto the velvet wet of his tongue.
Genie couldn't hold on a second more then, and she rocked against the king, tightening around him as ecstastic electricity surged through her, pulsing through her sex. Shivering slightly, the king answered her with a release of his own, his eyes communicating without need for words that he intended to fill her with his essence. Finding no argument or even pause, his hips banged against her under-thighs until he crashed into her with a tidal force, bursting inside of her with a surge that overflowed her in a pouring, milky stardust glittering.
“You're beautiful,” he whispered as his lips claimed her tongue again.
Genie returned his kiss, awash in euphoria, certain in a way she never expected to be upon arriving to the planet's surface.
This was home. And not just in part. The depths of her told her she belonged there with him. It would call for an adjustment in plans, but she couldn't deny her heart. Not now. Not now that she'd opened it to him, and he'd feverishly staked his claim.

Genie's eyes fluttered open, and she realized where they were with an aching pulse of remembrance. Stars, she'd done it. She'd bonded in the most irrevocable way with an alien king. One who claimed they shared similar genetics, at least in part.
Brow creasing at the sound of flowing water, she slid from the sheets of the king's bed, cocked her head with curiosity and boldly headed toward the sound without bothering to dress.
Just as curvy and fabulous as she pleased.
Live a little, indeed.
A smile touching her lips, she followed the sound of flowing water to a mini lagoon. Shit. A mini lagoon on a hovercraft. The Tentai did this thing big, didn't they? She looked over the steaming water that poured down from the metallic, vine shoots poised over it with unbridled admiration.
It was the attraction at its center, where lilies and orchids floated around him in entire blooms, petal-by-petal on the water's surface. A wisp of shyness curled in her gut, but she answered the intent in his eyes, sauntering her steps until she met the water's edge and slowly slipped in.
His eyes searched hers as she wafted over to him, and she tilted her head with curiosity.
“What?”
“Have you awoken?”
He asked the question with a seriousness that made her a bit more self-conscious than she'd been before he'd posed it. Awaken? What did he mean exactly?
“We are joined now, Genie. I'm wondering if... you remember anything. If you sense the part of you that is Tentai.”
“Oh.” She smiled. Yes. She was feeling things. And something had roused within when he was inside of her.
“Yes.”
His eyes brightened.
“What are you feeling?”
“Everything is more... vivid. And I can feel things, like intentions when you talk to me. Like I understand you far better than before.”
His eyes darkening, Sesh leaned in closer, his body language encouraging her to go on.
“And I'm seeing trails of color just at the outlines of things. I'm not sure what that is.”
The king smiled.
“You're seeing auric bodies. That's a very good sign.”
“Is it?”
“It means... you're not disconnected from your Tentai roots, only... unpracticed.”
“Oh.”
A kind of soft disappointment touching his eyes, the king averted his gaze to the surface of the water.
“What's wrong?”
His eyes blinking back up, Sesh manufactured a calm smile.
“Let's get you dressed and fed, so you can return to your work.”
Genie's brow creased.
“Just like that?”
She watched the king draw a breath, feeling his unspoken disappointment, the irony that she was reading minds now not at all lost on her.
“A deal is a deal. You'll be expected.”
“You're right,” Genie answered, appearing to play into his bluff. “Let's get a start now, so I can leave all of this luxury for the translation room.”
The king quirked a grin.
Grin deepening, he leaned into her.
“You do not have to reside there, you know. You can come and stay with me.”
A flash of mischief crossed Genie's eyes.
“It's about time you spoke up.”
A brow rising in surprise, the king titled his head, observing her.
“Who's reading minds, now?”
“Indeed. Who caused it?”
Gentle laughter touched the air as they gazed into one another's eyes, and their lips locked into a kiss to end all kisses. Falling into one another again, dangerous heat flared their skins.
When they finally released each other, panting and already burning with a scorching desire to return to bed, the king took her chin in the cradle of his fingers, his eyes probing hers as deeply as he intended to elsewhere.
“You are mine, Genie. And I am yours.”
His words rang truer than anything anyone had ever said to her.
“Well, I'm not blind,” she joked in a bad attempt at lightening the mood.
“No,” the king said with a dewy-eyed smile. “You certainly are not.”
His gaze lingered.
“I want more than a few nights. I am not casual like humans can be in their affairs. We are not like that.”
Mist-dewing Genie's eyes before she could blink her emotions away, she nipped her lip until they flushed red-red.
“Claim all the nights you want, Sesh. This is where I belong.”
