“You’ve seen it before.” He was pretty proud of the way he was built and took delight that she admired him that way.
“Seeing and touching are two different things.” Her hand dipped lower, running over his abs and sending a thrill through his body. His cock reacted by moving in his briefs. He would have to wiggle out of her grasp to remove the rest of his clothing.
Nevaeh took the decision away from him. “Allow me.” She slowly moved the pants down his waist and thighs until they puddled at his feet.
Hayden stepped out of the legs of the pants and kicked them aside.
Nevaeh stared a moment at his black briefs and then slid them down. His phallus continued to harden. “Ooh, nice,” she said, reaching for it like a child discovering a prize. She wrapped the fingers of her right hand around it, and his knees buckled. “Do you like the way this feels?” she asked as she slowly pleasured him.
Hayden closed his eyes, enjoying the feel as she tugged gently. “You have magical fingers.”
Nevaeh continued to work on him a few minutes before moving off the bed and dropping to her knees before him.
Hayden opened his eyes. “What are you doing?”
She looked up at him with those smoky brown eyes. “I’m about to taste you.” She raised her head a little higher and slipped the crown of his jock between her lips. The soft suction she applied nearly brought him to his knees.
Hayden gasped. “Your lips are so soft.” He liked the way they felt as she slid her mouth up and down the shaft while working the balls with her hands. Sister had skills and was in control. He wondered why that surprised him. He was learning that she excelled at everything she did.
The urge to come worried the pit of his stomach, but Hayden didn’t want to, fearing that he would not recuperate fast enough to be of any use to her. He lowered his hand to her head to stop the fellatio. “I won’t last long if you keep that up.”
Nevaeh smiled triumphantly at him, nodded and then rose. “Would you like me on my knees or on my back?”
Hayden raised an eyebrow. “Are you trying to torture me? You’re one of those women who look good coming and going.”
“Then I’ll make the decision for you.” Nevaeh crawled further onto the bed, propped one pillow under her buttocks and another one behind her head.
“Are you on the pill?” he asked as removed the briefs from his ankles and crawled on the bed.
“Why?”
“Because I don’t think the chief packed any condoms for me to use while I’m recuperating.”
She smiled at his joke. “Yes, I’m on the pill.”
“Good. You’d look pretty funny running down criminals in a maternity outfit.”
“Very funny, Agent Mercier.”
Hayden inched his way up between her legs, spreading them apart for his pleasure. Her pubic hair color matched the hair on her head, a striking jet black. There was nothing fake about this woman.
Hayden lowered his finger and pushed it inside her, riding on the moisture. She was ready for him, but he wanted to savor the feel of her. He pushed the finger deeper inside.
“Ooh,” Nevaeh gasped. She tightened a little and used her vaginal muscles to suck at his finger.
“I thought you’d like that.”
Her body opened to him as he introduced a second finger. He met no resistance. She wasn’t a virgin. Good. That could ruin the mood. He would have to withdraw to be all caring until the pain subsided. He didn’t have time for that beginner’s stuff.
Hayden withdrew his fingers, took his member into his hand and pushed it slowly inside of her. She was tight and warm. “Oh God. “ The only thing he could do was moan as he slipped deeper.
“Hayden,” Nevaeh uttered once their pelvic areas made contact.
He moved his hips, pulling out of her and then sinking back inside. The deeper he went the wetter she got.
Nevaeh’s hips took on a life of their own as she wrapped her legs tighter around his waist.
“You’re so warm and wet,” Hayden replied as he moved from his knees and lay on top of her. He raised her left leg and sank in deeper.
Nevaeh lifted her head and kissed him.
“You don’t have to strain, darling.”
Nevaeh lowered her head back onto the pillow and Hayden followed her down, capturing her soft lips and slipping his tongue inside her mouth. She tasted like honey and mint. He made love to her like he knew she needed to be loved. Their bodies fit together perfectly since she was nearly as tall as him.
Hayden rolled over on his back until Nevaeh sat atop him. He entered her again while she straddled his thighs, and then she sank down on him, taking him inside of her inch by inch until their bodies touched again.
Nevaeh took control, moving her body up and down, sliding him in and out of her.
Hayden pulled her down for another of her sweet kisses and then shoved her back up gently so she could continue to ride him.
“I never imagined it could be like this between us,” she said as sweat beaded on her forehead.
Hayden noticed that she didn’t appear nervous anymore, and she was in complete control of the situation. He reached up and grabbed her hips to help her. “You have a phenomenal behind.” It wasn’t a lie. No flab, just solid muscle.
“Oh!” Nevaeh tensed and then began grinding her pelvis into him.
Hayden looked up at her determined face. She tried to keep the orgasm at bay. “Just let go, honey. We have the entire night ahead of us.”
Nevaeh let loose, shaking over him with the sexiest moan he’d ever heard. Primal. It got to him, touched his heart, and turned him on to the point that all he could do was erupt with her.
“Oh baby,” he said huskily as he came in a stomach-clenching eruption.
Nevaeh fell against him, sweaty and tired. “Hayden.” No other words, just his name.
Hayden wrapped his arms around her, holding her tightly until both their bodies settled down.
Nevaeh rolled off him onto the pillow and mattress and began to snore softly at his side.
Hayden put one of his arms behind his head, too excited to sleep. Too many things were running around in his mind, like who was after Nevaeh, and how could he keep her safe until help arrived?
He eased off the bed and went into the bathroom to shower. The pain in his arm had lessened, and he was able to move it around better. He bent his head over and let the water soak his hair. He applied some shampoo, rinsed and followed it up with a deep conditioner. The water blocked out the outside world. Once he finished he completed his shower, dried off and returned to his room. Nevaeh was gone.
Chapter Seven
At least they had the common decency to allow her to dress before taking her out of the cabin. Two of them had gotten in and surprised her while Hayden showered, dragged her from the bed and taken her out of the room without making much noise. She prayed Hayden would just assume she went back to her room without coming to look for her. She didn’t want him hurt.
“Get in,” one of the masked men said to her once they’d walked to a car partially hidden by a clump of trees. He pushed her into the backseat of the black sedan and crawled in beside her while the other one got into the driver’s seat. They had just pulled off when a bullet sailed through the window, exploding the glass to shreds.
Nevaeh yelped and slid down in the seat. A moment later the car careened out of control, left the roadway and sailed into a tree. The driver hit his head on the steering wheel. The impact knocked him out cold. The one next to her fell against the door and was rendered unconscious.
Nevaeh tried to open the door, but the child-proofed lock was in place. She pressed the button for the back window, and it slid down. It was her only chance to escape. She moved quickly through the open window headfirst, and then her shoulders cleared easily, but she had to do a bit of maneuvering to get her hips and butt through. She landed on her hands. “Ouch.”
The man in the backseat awakened and tried to grab her.
&n
bsp; Nevaeh hopped to her feet and ran for the woods, hoping the fool who shot out the window wouldn’t catch up with her. Her eyes adjusted to the darkness, allowing her to move swiftly past the trees. Her bare feet barely gripped the wet ground. “Don’t fall,” she cautioned herself.
She heard footsteps coming up quickly behind her. To lead him back to the cabin would be foolish. Her only option was to lead him to the water and hope he couldn’t swim.
A gunshot rang out, and a bullet flew past her head. “Shit.” His aim sucked, but she couldn’t depend on him missing again. She needed to hide somewhere until he passed her.
Nevaeh looked up…a tree. She used to be pretty good at climbing as a child. She bounded toward the next one and climbed. The bark bit into her feet, messing up her pedicure. The hell with it. She could take care of it later if she survived. Up and up she climbed until she made it safely to a thick limb that could hold her weight. Nevaeh sat perfectly still, holding her breath and looking down. The man ran past the tree just as she’d hoped. She’d be safe there for a while.
Another man appeared. Hayden. Shit, what’s he doing here? He followed the man. Damn, this isn’t good. Why did men have to pretend to be so macho? The chrome from the barrel of a gun gleamed in his hand. Well, at least he had sense enough to grab one before leaving the house. Another man appeared. It was the one from the front seat. She couldn’t call to Hayden without alerting both men to their presence. There had to be another way, and there wasn’t very much time. One thing was for sure, if the man wanted Hayden dead, he would have shot him in the back of the head by now. Which meant he wanted Hayden to lead him to her? She smirked. Hayden would rather die first. That much she did know about him.
There were still a couple of hours until daybreak, and she couldn’t be sure what time the other agents were going to arrive. That left her with two choices…wait it out or save her partner’s ass. “Shit.” Hayden was going to be pissed about being rescued by a girl again.
Nevaeh dropped down from the tree and landed on her feet like a cat and followed silently behind them, using the trees to shield her from their view. She called upon all her training and everything her people taught her about surviving. One sentence entered her mind. Get them before they get you.
The man in the rear finally caught up to Hayden and whacked him on the back of the head with the butt of a gun.
“Ow.” Hayden landed facedown.
Ouch. Hayden was going to have one hell of a headache when he woke up.
“Jack, you fool. Come here. You were being followed.”
The one who pushed her into the backseat turned and ran back to his partner in crime. He stared down at Hayden’s unconscious form.
“Where’s the chick?” the driver asked Jack.
Nevaeh rolled her eyes at the word.
“Bitch got away. I lost her somewhere in the woods.”
“Mr. Epson is going to be pissed. He specifically said to kill her.”
Jack spat on the ground. “He should do his own dirty work.”
Epson, Epson, why was that name so familiar to her? Shit. He was one of the President’s perspective running mates during the election. He was a former Secret Service agent and one of the trainers at the academy. No wonder he knew where to find her. Now it was clear. He wanted the President dead because he wasn’t chosen to be Vice President, and he wanted her dead because she could possibly identify him. How stupid. Killing the President wouldn’t give him the job. The man was nuts. She had a name now, and a why.
Nevaeh looked around the dark ground for a weapon. Nothing. Her only option was to use her wits. She moved stealthily from behind the tree and into the dark woods. She had a plan, but first she needed to get back to the cabin.
* * * *
The pain in his head throbbed unmercifully as he woke to the sound of two male voices. What happened? The last thing he remembered was following the man who’d taken Nevaeh after he blew out the back window of the car. And where was she? Hopefully still alive. He listened, opting to appear unconscious. He lay perfectly still. Americans. Puppets of Bob Epson, an ex-political candidate, and a man who once attended the academy with him. Great. There was a traitor in their ranks. The pieces started to fit. Epson sought retaliation because of a political slight. How childish.
Someone was watching them. He didn’t need his eyes to see that. He felt the other person, in the woods. Shit. Three against one wasn’t great odds. Hayden decided the best thing to do was to just lie there and pretend to still be unconscious while giving himself time to recover.
“What are we going to do, Phil?” Jack asked.
“There’s nothing much we can do at this point except take him back with us. He’s her partner. She’ll come for him.”
“What makes you think she cares enough about him to do that?”
“Because they’re Secret Service agents. It is part of what they are. It’s kind of like Marines never leaving a fellow Marine behind.”
Jack chuckled. “I thought you were going to say something stupid like she loves him.”
Hayden heard one of them move.
“Their relationship is stronger than love. They’re partners. Come on. Let’s take him back to the car.”
“It’s broke and in the trunk of a tree,” Jack replied.
“I checked on it before I came after you. It’s drivable.”
Someone lifted him from the ground and tossed him over a shoulder like a sack of potatoes. He weighed two hundred pounds. It had to be the one named Phil. Jack wasn’t big enough to handle the weight. Hayden sighed. He’d never live this down.
Phil never broke a stride the entire walk back through the woods, and then he unceremoniously dropped him to the ground.
“What happened to the car?” Phil asked. “I left it right here.”
“I drove it into the lake,” a feminine voice replied.
Hayden opened his eyes and sat up. Nevaeh? What is she doing here?
“You—you crazy bitch,” Phil spat at Nevaeh.
A loud gunshot startled Hayden.
“I told you I’m not a bitch. Don’t think I don’t recognize you. You’re the jackass who shot up the cabin. Do you have any idea how much it’s going to cost to repair that wall? The federal government is not made of money.”
Hayden’s head spun as he tried to focus on the situation. He looked over at Nevaeh. She stood a little way off, brandishing a sawed-off shotgun and looking much like a female Rambo. Fetching.
Jack stepped toward her, but she cocked the gun again. “Don’t make me use this.”
Jack stopped in his tracks.
“Are you okay, partner?” she asked.
Hayden struggled to his feet. “I’ll live, Pocahontas. Where’d you get the weapon?”
“From the cabin. The chief made sure I had everything I needed to take care of you.” She paused. “But no condoms.”
Hayden chuckled, which made his head hurt. “You’re one crazy woman.”
“So I’ve been told.”
Hayden noticed movement out the corner of his eye. Jack was trying to make a move on her while she was distracted. He bolted toward her.
Nevaeh fired.
“Oh!” Jack howled. “She shot me.” He fell to the ground.
Phil stepped toward her.
“Do it and die,” she warned.
Phil stopped.
Hayden walked over to check on Jack. “He has a serious shoulder wound, but he’s still alive.” He smirked. “You’re one lucky man. She could have killed you if she wanted to.”
A convoy of white cars drove onto the clearing just as day broke.
“The cavalry has arrived,” Nevaeh announced, not taking her eyes off of Phil.
“Shit,” Phil replied. “Mr. Epson is going to kill us.”
“No he’s not,” Nevaeh assured him. “I’ve already notified the White House about his part in this little adventure. He’s probably pleading his case to the feds right about now.” She walked toward him, and P
hil lifted his hands above his head and gave up.
Hayden’s best friend and fellow agent Sergio Alvarado and some of his other agent buddies got out of the cars and took control of the scene. Nevaeh relinquished the shotgun to one of them before rushing over to Hayden.
“I thought you were dead,” he said, gathering her into his arms. “Where were you?”
“Hiding in the woods. I got away from Jack by climbing a tree. Then I saw you, but before I could let you know I was okay Phil showed up. I tried to think of a sane way to rescue you, but I decided to call for backup and get a weapon.”
“So why did you drive the car into the lake?”
“Because I knew it was their only way out of the woods. If I got rid of it they couldn’t transport us away from here.”
“You could have been killed.”
“You too. What were you thinking coming behind me in your condition?” Nevaeh asked.
“I wasn’t really thinking. All I know was that I had to find you. My injuries never played a part in the equation. I’d die before I let anything happen to you.”
“You almost did. They could have killed you as you lay unconscious on that ground.”
Hayden kissed her on the head.
Nevaeh broke into tears in his arms. And for the first time, his courageous partner fell apart.
Hayden scooped her up into his arms, ignoring the pain, and carried her back toward the cabin. The rest of the agents had everything pretty well under control. It was time for him to take care of the woman he loved.
Chapter Eight
“Don’t cry, darling,” Hayden told Nevaeh once he had her safely inside the cabin, away from the hustle and bustle of activity down the road. An ambulance had come and gone, and he didn’t care if an army showed up, he wasn’t leaving her side until she felt better.
“I can’t help it,” she sobbed. “This is just too much.” She cried for another couple of moments and then stopped, drying her eyes with her hands. “You must think I’m a big baby.”
“No I don’t. Big babies don’t handle sawed-off shotguns like you do. Hell, I can’t do that.”
