Heat flared in her cheeks. “Thank you.”

He wrapped an arm around her shoulders and squeezed. “Any time.”

“What ended up happening with Mark and Miranda?”

Hunt pulled a chair out from the table where Savannah was sitting and gestured for Gia to sit. As soon as she did, he pushed her chair in and sat next to her. “They turned on each other almost immediately. You don’t have to worry about them ever getting out. Turns out, the gun Mark was holding on you is the same one that was used to kill your ex.”

Gia shivered at the thought of how close she’d come to joining him. “Oh, did you ever find Caleb Fontaine?”

“Yes. I questioned him for hours, but it seems he had no involvement in Remington’s murder. Everyone knew Remington couldn’t pull off his schemes by himself, so Fontaine had been keeping an eye on him, watching to see who he met up with. When he started hanging around the café and Fontaine realized it belonged to his ex, he wanted to meet you for himself, see if he thought you had any involvement. Apparently, he was pretty hellbent on bringing everyone involved to justice.”

Understandable, considering the enormous amounts of money Bradley stole from people. “I can’t really blame him.”

“Still, he had no business stalking you.”

“So, what’s going to happen to him?”

“Nothing right now. He’s headed back to New York with a stern warning to stay away from you.”

Warmth rushed through her. “Thank you.”

  “Any time.”

Willow carried a tray of coffee cups to the table and set five of them out with a tray of muffins, then squeezed Gia’s shoulder and leaned close. “I hope I’m a plus too.” She laughed as she sat down alongside Hunt, Gia, and Savannah.

Heat flared in Gia’s cheeks. Apparently, Savannah had shared her mental to-do list with everyone. “You are definitely a plus.”

Earl joined them a moment later.

“So…” Savannah blew on her coffee and took a sip. “Have you got more checks on the plus side yet?”

  “I suppose maybe I do.”

“So, what now? You still going home?”

Gia studied her four friends. Though she hadn’t known three of them for long, they’d already proved more loyal and supportive than people she’d known most of her life. Maybe Boggy Creek wasn’t such a bad place to start over after all. “Like you said the day I got here…” She smiled. “I’m home now.”
