Seductive in Stilettos 4: BWWM New Adult Romance Page 4

by Nana Malone

Her gasping breaths drove him so close to the edge, but he needed her to go first. Needed her to come for him. To show him that she was his. He increased the pace and drew her head up so she'd meet his gaze. "Come, Tris. Now."

As if she'd been waiting for permission, she quickened her pace. "Shane. Oh—" When she fell apart, the walls of her tight pussy clamped around him like a vise.

His balls tightened in response, and he dug his hands into her flesh. With his final thrust and her body milking him, he followed her into oblivion.

The walls around him shattered, he whispered, "I love you."

As the blood pounded through his skull, muting out all other sounds but her breathing, she smoothed her hands into his hair.

  “I love you too, Shane.”

  Chapter 7

Tris touched her lips again. Even hours after leaving War's place, they still tingled. Maybe it should weird her out that his friend gave them use of his place for the night, but it didn't. Every moment with Shane had far exceeded her wildest dreams. Every time he'd taken her, even if he'd been on the precipice of control, he'd been gentle with her. This is what she'd been missing out on all this time. But clearly, she'd been waiting for Shane.

"Hello, Earth to Tristia." Sydney snapped her fingers in front of Tris's face and brought her out of her reverie.

  "Sorry, I was daydreaming."

"I'll bet you were. Must have been some night. I'm surprised you can even walk today." Syd smirked.

"Actually, I'm a bit surprised myself." And so was Shane when she'd woken up extra perky. He'd told her he needed to do a better job of knocking her out next time.

Next time. There would be a next time. She loved that. He was hers. "But speaking of the reason I should be walking funny. Are you around tonight? He thought getting to know you guys was a great idea."

Xia grinned but rolled her eyes. "Oh, boy, meet the friends, I know this blissed out honeymoon phase. And I'm insanely jealous."

"Oh, you'll find your guy soon enough. Besides, I think I'm due."

  "That you are," Syd said.

They left the gym and took the short cut across the cut. The hairs on Tris's arms stood at attention, and she looked around for something out of place.

From three feet ahead, Sydney waved at her. "Hey, you feel like keeping up? What's the matter? I know the sex has made you a little slow, and I expect nothing less, but we gotta go."

"No." She looked around again. "I don't know. I have a funny feeling."

"That's you realizing you had countless orgasms last night and now you don't know what to do with yourself."

Tris giggled. "Yeah, I don't think so."

Her friend's smile morphed into a frown as she studied her more closely. "You okay?" Her gaze flitted around too.

"Yeah, forget it, I'm fine. I've just been a little jumpy lately. It's weird. I don't know. Like something is off."

"You need to call your dad?"

"No! Absolutely not. I would like to have at least one semester without him coming to interfere, or worse, yanking me back home. It's fine. I'll note it in my journal, and then if it becomes something serious, I'll report it and call him, okay?"

Xia chewed her lip. "Tris, I don't like this."

"Please, just let me enjoy the rest of today then we can talk about it, okay? I'll even consider telling Dad."

"Fine. Do me a favor and at least tell Shane."

"Okay. I'll tell him." Except he might make her call the police or worse.

Once back in their room, Syd headed for the showers first. Tris still had some work to do on her sociology assignment so she booted up her laptop. With a quick scan over her email, she grabbed her book from her desk. It was only then that she noticed the new mail icon.

She didn't recognize the sender, but her father had made her laptop pretty much hack proof and firmware proof, so she wasn't that concerned. But instead of an email with a link to buy Viagra or something, there were photos attached. Of her with Shane, from Los Angeles. They were kissing in some of them. In others, holding hands. One of them showed the car pulled off at the rest stop.

Oh, God! Her heart thundered. She couldn't swallow because her throat was suddenly dry. At the end of the message, a note said, break up with him today or he's a dead man.

No. No. No. No. No. A numb feeling spread up from her toes through her body to her extremities. The shaking started next. She couldn't do anything to control it except wrap her arms around herself and rock.

No, this was not going to happen to her again. She would not be afraid. Maybe this was some kind of mistake. But she read the message over and over again and couldn’t see how this could possibly be a mistake.

Her father had been right; she wasn't safe here. Someone had followed her to the concert. Someone had taken pictures of them. Someone had seen them at the rest stop. What else had they seen?

Her stomach pitched. She'd been such an idiot. She thought a few years and some distance from Maine could make her normal, but she wasn't normal. All those years ago, she'd insisted there was more than one person, but they'd only ever found one set of prints. Everyone told her she was hearing and seeing things. That her mind was trying to make sense of what had happened to her. But this wasn't her imagination. Someone was following her again. And now her actions had put Shane at risk.

Her mind raced as she tried to figure this out. If they’d been followed to L.A., then whoever was doing this was obviously keeping a very close eye on her. She wasn’t letting anything happen to Shane. Think, Tris. Think. She needed a plan, and right now she didn’t have one.

Two things were certain: someone was watching her, and they knew about her and Shane. That put Shane’s job in jeopardy. The last thing she wanted to do was comply with the demand. But she had no idea who was behind this. For now, she had to do what she could to protect him. Maybe she could call Roland. He owed her. If she hired him, he could look into this for her discretely.

No, he’d just tell her father. He was big on loyalty.

There was Micha’s husband. He was in security. She could ask Ricca for an introduction. Her gut twisted. But even if she did that, given she was being watched, she’d have to appear to be following orders. Which meant she’d have to hurt Shane.

Making the call to Ricca to ask for the favor would be the easy part. It was the thought of hurting Shane that kept her rooted to her bed for another ten minutes.

Finally, she pushed off her bed and went straight to his room. She only needed to knock twice before he opened the door, shirtless and dressed for a workout.

His grin was instant. "Hi. How did you know I was thinking about you?" He opened the door wider to let her in, but not before checking the hallways to see who might see them.

"I wanted to talk to you about something, Shane."

"That's great, because I wanted to talk to you about something too." He pulled her to him and kissed her neck. "I was thinking, for tonight, we could go to a party or a club. You know, neutral non-school ground. That way, the girls will be comfortable with me."

She blinked up at him. "You would do that? Just to make them comfortable?"

He shrugged. "Well, it would make you happy, so that's all I'm down for."

"Shane..." How was she going to do this?

  "Aren’t you forgetting something?"

She really didn’t want to do this. "What?"

He laughed. "You give a girl a couple of orgasms, and she all of a sudden forgets that you need a little foreplay. Where's my kiss?"

  "Shane..."

He kissed her slowly, taking time to savor her. When he pulled back, his gaze was dark, stormy. "Are you feeling okay? After last night?"

Tris flushed and ducked her head. "Uh, yeah, I'm fine."

"Ouch." He laughed. "You really know how to pump up a guy's ego."

His hands slid down to her waist, and he turned her so he could kiss the nape of her neck. Immediately, waves of pleasure coursed through her veins. She wanted him. The last thi
ng she wanted to do was walk away.

Shane slid his hands down her torso, under the elastic of her leggings and her underwear. His talented fingers stroked over her clit, and he dipped down to enter her shallowly. In her ear, he whispered, "I have been thinking about you since this morning. I haven't been able to sleep a wink. I keep thinking about the shower."

Her knees shook. The mere mention of the shower was enough to invoke memories of last night and the way he'd filled her. His level of control. The places he'd touched her. Where he'd had his tongue, where he'd had his fingers. Bringing her to orgasm more than once. Making her cry out his name.

And he was easily doing it again. She was on the verge of orgasm, ready to come, ready for her body to bow into his and let him have her again. But she couldn't. "Shane..."

"Tris," he whispered with a teasing note. "I'm addicted to making you come now. I need to see it again. Give me this, and we can talk about whatever you want. I just miss you. I wanted you in bed with me this morning."

Despite herself, she moaned. All she wanted was to be closer, so close, more. I'll kill him. I'll kill him. I'll kill him. The words ran through her skull over and over again. "Shane stop—" She broke on a sob.

He released her immediately. “Tris, what's the matter? Did I hurt you?"

The concern on his face was so apparent that she felt terrible. It would be easy to let him think he'd hurt her, to take that insecurity and feed into it, but she loved him. She couldn't do that to him. Not even to save his life. "No, it's not that, but I need some space to figure some stuff out."

"Excuse me?" His brows snapped down, and he scowled.

"I'm sorry. I really am. You were great, and thank you for everything you did for me, but I can't do this right now. I’ll explain later."

He shook his head. "I don’t understand. You have to talk to me." He took her hand.

Wrenching free, she backed up three feet. "No, Shane. When you touch me, you confuse me. I'm not ready for this, I need you to respect that."

"Is this because of what I said last night?"

The simple words that had filled her with joy—he was giving her the means to use against him. "Yes. I don’t love you. It's too much. I don’t want to see you anymore."

  "I don't believe you. You're freaking out."

"Well, you have no choice but to believe me because it's the truth. Please don’t call me anymore."

She didn't give him a chance to say anything else and ran out of his room. Even as she slipped into the sanctuary of her room, she could feel his eyes on her.

Fury brought her tears to the surface. She’d worked too hard to get free. For four years, fear had controlled her. She was not giving up this life she’d worked so hard for.

With the hot splash of tears tracing down her cheeks, she picked up her phone and called Ricca.

Her cousin answered on the first ring with her usual cheery tone. “Hey, girly. I was just saying to the girls how we needed to have the second generation over to dinner.”

  “Ricca, I need your help.”

  “Name it, it’s yours.”

  “Can I come over?”

“You want me to send Beckett to pick you up?

No. She’d get there on her own. “No, I’ll Uber it. See you in ten.”

As she wiped the tears from her face, she grabbed her jacket. Never again was she going to let someone else control her. She knew how to fight back. It was about time she started doing so.

Tris knew what she had to do, she just wasn't feeling brave enough to do it. Needing a boost of confidence, she tugged on leggings under her emerald green tunic. Shane had always liked her in this outfit. And to top it all off, she pulled out the shoes that had gotten her into this whole love mess in the first place. If she was going to see him, she needed the boost. The text she sent was difficult to compose.

I need to turn in my paper. Where can I find you?

  Shane's response was instant.

I'm at War's place. Will be here till five.

Thirty minutes later, she was knocking on his door, shifting on her feet. The shoes were gorgeous, but she still teetered on them a little. Heat flushed her body as he opened the door. Stay strong. Stay strong.

  "Hey, Tris."

She wiped her hands on her leggings. "Hey." She held up a large manila envelope with her paper. "Do you think we can do this quickly? I need to get back and pack for my trip with Ricca."

A shadow of pain passed over his face, but then he stepped back to let her inside. "Sure. I have the signature sheet right here."

The whole place smelled like him, and her heart squeezed. Maybe he and War wore the same cologne or something. Or maybe he'd been hanging out here to avoid seeing her, just like she'd changed her whole routine so she wouldn't run into him.

  "Thanks," she said, absently.

He tossed her paper onto the coffee table and handed her a clipboard with a signature sheet. As she signed and verified with her thumb print, she could feel his gaze on her, deconstructing every move.

"Tris, I've been wanting to talk to you." He licked his lips. "I've missed you."

She was so relieved she almost wanted to cry. She'd been so cruel to him, but he hadn't abandoned her even though logic called for him to. No, you don’t want that. He's in danger. "Well, I don’t want to talk to you. We're over. I made myself clear."

"You didn't give me a chance to make myself clear. I'm not giving up on us. We have something special. I see it; you have to see it."

She shook her head and tried to hand him back the clipboard. "No, we don’t, Shane. You need to leave me alone."

He took the clipboard from her and tossed it where he'd tossed her paper. His gaze was intent enough to melt her bones. Seriously, she needed help.

"You don’t want me. That's what you want me to believe." He walked toward her slowly, his gaze never wavering from hers.

"Yes." She backed up against the door. "I don’t want you. Sleeping with you w-was a mistake." S
he squeaked. Oh yeah, squeaking. Nothing said I'm standing my ground more than a squeak or stuttering.

"Okay. If that's true, then I want you to prove it."

  "Excuse me?"

"I'm going to kiss you. If you really don’t feel anything, you won’t respond. I'll walk away, leave you alone. Never bother you again."

There was no way she could let him kiss her. That would not work out in her favor. She'd melt into him just like always, and it would be a disaster for him. If he kissed her, she would have to find a way to guarantee she never saw him again. She'd have to leave. "Shane, I don't want you to kiss me."

He cocked his head. "Are you sure about that?"

"Yes. I'm sure." She had nowhere to go, her back pressing into the door.

"Then why are your pupils dilated?"

  "It's dark in here."

  "Your lips are parted."

She tipped her chin up. "I have a cold. I'm congested. You'll catch it if you kiss me."

His smile was brief. "I think I'm willing to take my chances."
