About the Author
Mike Mahan and his wife, Linda, live with two dogs in historic Montebrier in downtown Brierfield, Alabama, 4.5 miles south of his cherished Shelby Street. He has practiced dentistry for almost 50 years and served as Montevallo’s fire chief for 20 years. His other passions include music and history.
An Alabama native, Norman McMillan is retired from the University of Montevallo. His memoir, Distant Son: An Alabama Boyhood, was published in 2002 by the Cahaba Trace Commission. His plays, Truman Capote: Against a Copper Sky and Ashes of Roses (based on stories of Mary Ward Brown), have been produced in Monroeville, Mobile, Montgomery, Montevallo, and Marion.
