“No I can’t lose my best friend I just can’t! Please don’t tell me her husband did something to her! Michelle cried.
“Ma’am I don’t want to accuse anyone just yet. We are going to do everything we can for your friend and if you can, try to get in touch with her husband to let him know what is going on. I have to get back and check on Mrs. Reynolds” the doctor said. Michelle took her phone out of her purse and dialed Michael’s number. “Hello?” Michael answered.
“Michael this is Michelle and I am down here at North General Hospital. Janet has been in an accident and you need to get here right away!” Michelle said frantic.
“Is this a joke? “Don’t play with me!” Michael exclaimed. “This is not a joke and you seriously need to get down here now and if something happens to Janet I am blaming you!”Michelle yelled over the phone.
“Alright I am on my way now and nothing will happen to Janet” he said. “You better pray it doesn’t because I am coming after you if anything does happen to her!” Michelle shouted into the phone. “You are the least of my worries. I am concerned for my wife only” Michael said. I pray that nothing happens to Janet. I couldn’t live with myself if anything happened to her and if Susan had anything to do with this, there is going to be serious problems. Michelle didn’t like all this waiting she wanted her best friend to be okay. Lord please watch over Janet and heal her because I just found out today I am expecting my first child and I want to share this news with my best friend and I also want her to be the baby’s godmother. Oh no Janet was supposed to find out if she was pregnant and by the way it looks if she was she may have lost it. This is not a good day today and I cannot take any more bad news she thought. I need to call DeWayne and let him know what happened so he won’t worry about me. He is my rock and I don’t know what I would do without him she thought. I want for nothing and he is a great provider and husband. I knew when I first saw him that he was my going to be my husband and yes people thought I was crazy. Now they are looking crazy now she laughed to herself. I love him so much and can’t imagine my life without him. I must admit he does spoil me and I do love it. He is going to be surprised when I tell him we are going to be parents. Can’t believe we have been married for five years and it felt like it was just yesterday. She took her cell phone out to call her husband DeWayne.
“Hey babe. There has been a terrible accident and Janet was involved. It doesn’t look too good right now but I know God is able” Michelle said.
“Yes, honey you are right and I know Janet will be okay because she has you on her side as well as praying for her” Dewayne said.
“Yes you are right babe”
Michelle said.
“Call me if you need me. I love you” he said. “Okay I will. Love you too” she said as she ended the call. The machine was making a whirring sound as it pumped air into Janet’s lungs. The nurse was checking the monitors to make sure everything was okay. I pray she makes it through the night because she is in real bad shape and hopefully her family has been notified. Well it’s time for me to make my rounds and see about the other patients the nurse said to herself. Michael was so nervous when he arrived at the hospital and he didn’t know what to expect. Okay keep it together and keep calm Michael told himself.
“Excuse me” Michael said to the lady behind the desk.
“Yes, may I help you?”The lady asked. “I am trying to find my wife Janet Reynolds, I was notified that she was involved in an accident and was brought here” Michael told the nurse. “Let’s see” she said as she looked at the computer screen. “Yes she is registered here but you need to talk with the Dr. first before you can see her” the nurse told Michael.
“Oh okay” Michael said nervously.
“I will let the Dr. know you are here so he can speak with you” the lady said. “Thank you” Michael said to the lady.
“You are quite welcome.” Don’t worry everything will be fine” the lady told him. “I’m sure she will be okay. Thank you” Michael said sadly.
If anything happens to her I will have no one else to blame but myself and that is the honest truth he thought to himself.
Chapter 4 Susan couldn’t believe what she had just done and she hopes no one would find out. I don’t even know if anyone even seen the car or the license plate she thought to herself. I don’t need the police to come snooping around. I have to get rid of the car and I have to do it fast she thought to herself. She actually just wanted to scare Michael not hurt anyone seriously. Well since Michael found out that I am married I know he is really upset but he never asked me if I was so it is what it is. Susan went to this mechanic downtown that she knew really well and she knew he would help her out.
“Hey Manny, how are you?” Susan asked. “Hey Susan, I am great. How are you?” Manny replied. “I am okay. Wanted to stop by and see if you can do some work for me” Susan said. “What you got?” Manny asked. “Well I was thinking to paint the car another color and to also remove any dents that may be there as well” she replied. “Okay it will probably take about four or five days the maximum and what color would you like it?” Manny asked her. “I am thinking black would be good enough and there is no way you can do it any faster?” Susan replied. “Well if there was more help I could but I am shorthanded at the moment but don’t worry I will have it ready for you as soon as I can” Manny replied.
“Thank you Manny, you are the best. Could I leave it here and borrow one of your loaner cars? That way I won’t have to drop the car off and it will already be here so you can start on it” she said. “Well ma’am looks like you have it planned out already. Sure why not. I aim to please.” He told Susan.
“Okay sounds like a plan to me. So which car can I take?” Susan asked. Well, now that’s taken care of, home I go. I know Michael will be calling soon so I have to get my story straight.
When Michael spoke with the doctor he was not expecting to hear that Janet might not make it through the night and that she lost the baby. She never told me we were expecting and I can’t believe she wouldn’t have told me unless she hadn’t found out yet. “Excuse me Doctor Jackson?” Michael called. “Yes Mr. Reynolds” Dr. Jackson answered. “Can you tell me how far along my wife was?”Michael asked. “She was twelve weeks and if it’s any consolation I am truly sorry Mr. Reynolds. My team and I are doing everything possible to save your wife” Doctor Jackson said.
“I really appreciate what you are doing and is it possible for me to see her?” Michael asked.
“Yes I will allow you some time and it is good for you to talk to her because she can possibly hear you but just can’t respond. Did you and your wife have any disagreements or arguments today?” the doctor asked him. “No and why would you ask that?” he asked. “Well your wife has some bruises that I think are not related to the accident but it’s just my opinion Mr. Reynolds” the doctor said.
“Well doctor you need to keep your opinions to yourself. Thanks again Doctor Jackson for being so concerned” Michael said with sarcasm. “You are very welcome Mr. Reynolds” the doctor said. Michael was not prepared for what he saw when he walked into Janet’s room. She had a breathing tube and her head was wrapped with a bandage and she had some cuts and bruises as well. “What have I done, no I am so sorry Janet!” Michael cried to Janet. “I never meant for this to happen, please forgive me. Come back to me Janet don’t leave me. I am so sorry that you lost the baby. I will never forgive myself if anything happens to you and I will find out who did this to you, I promise you that! I love you Janet” Michael cried.
I have to get out of here and get some air and find Susan because I know she had something to do with this. I don’t know why I hit Janet today the way I did but I hope she forgives me. I should have never done that to her. Wait until I get my hands on Susan Michael thought to himself. She really thinks she will get away with this but I am going to make sure she doesn’t and she will pay. She will be sorry she ever met me when I am through with her.
Chapter 4 Susan had just p
ulled into the driveway and her husband pulled right behind her. I have to get myself together before Charles recognizes my nervousness.
“Hey honey, how was your day?”Charles asked Susan.
“Oh it was great, busy as usual” Susan replied.
“Where is your car at?” Charles asked. “Well I decided to get it painted. It needed a new paint job.” She said.
“Oh well it looked fine to me. Sale any houses today?” he asked. “No it wasn’t such a productive day today. You know sometimes it gets slow in real estate” Susan replied.
“Yeah that’s true. Are you sure you are ok? You look a little frazzled” Charles said. “Yes I am fine, just a little headache. A few aspirin should clear it up” Susan said. “Okay if you say so. I will make some tea for both of us” he said.
“That will be great” Susan said. As soon as they got into the house Susan went upstairs to take a shower. As she was preparing to take her shower she felt sick to her stomach and almost didn’t make it to the toilet bowl. Well I am not going to be able to hide this pregnancy forever she thought to herself. The thing is I don’t know who the father is and it could be Charles or Michael. I feel bad that I had an affair on Charles but he is never here. He is always away on business trips or working late with clients. I know that is not an excuse but I will have to tell him and it will have to be soon. Her cell phone was ringing and she wondered who that could be. It was an unknown number. “Hello?” she answered. A deep voice said “I saw what you did today and I will go to the police if my demand is not met” the caller said. “Who is this and what kind of game are you playing?!” Susan exclaimed.
“This is a game to see if you will able to get away with hurting people. I want fifty thousand cash by tomorrow or I am going to the police and to your husband as well. I will call you tomorrow with further instructions” the caller said. “Wait! Who is this!” Susan exclaimed. All she heard was the dial tone. This has to be Michael playing this crazy game or maybe someone did see what she did today. Well at least I put the car in the shop. I hate to involve Manny in this because he is a nice guy. I know that they probably have a description of the car by now because someone may have seen it. Oh how did I get myself into this mess she thought to herself. In room 404 the alert of the machine brought the nurses and doctors to their feet. They raced to the room to find that Janet Reynolds was awake and trying to move
“Mrs. Reynolds please calm down, we are here to help you. You have been in a serious accident” the doctor said. Janet was confused and didn’t understand. Wait, I remember walking through the neighborhood but that’s it she thought to herself.
”If you can hear me blink once” the doctor said.
Janet blinked once and then tried to move her arm.
“Mrs. Reynolds, can you feel this on your feet? Blink once for yes and two for no” the doctor said as he touched her toes and her feet. Janet blinked once. As if the doctor read her mind;”Mrs. Reynolds you were involved in an accident and you are here at North General Hospital. Your husband and best friend have been here with you and will be glad to know you are awake. We are going to try and get the breathing tube out today. Try to relax and not stress because you are in a very fragile state right now” the doctor said. The doctor read her thoughts as she looked down at her stomach.
“I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you were twelve weeks along and you lost the baby. I am so sorry Mrs. Reynolds, I really am. We have grief counselors if you need to speak with someone. I will find your husband and your friend to tell them the good news that you are awake” the doctor told Janet. Janet was in disbelief about the baby. She couldn’t believe there was no baby. God please help me she said to herself. I can’t bear this alone someone has to help me through this she thought to herself. This was just too much to bear right now. I need my best friend. Where is she Janet cried to herself.
Chapter 6
Michelle was in the hospital Chapel praying for Susan’s total healing and recovery. God I will help her anyway I can so, please let her be okay because she is like a sister to me and I couldn’t bear the thought of her not making it. Well I should go and see if there is any change before I head home. I need to eat too. I have not eaten all day and I don’t want to make myself or the baby sick. As Michelle was making her way to see about Michelle she ran into Dr. Jackson. “Hey Dr. Jackson, you are just the person I want to see” Michelle said. “I was heading this way to find you as well and give you an update on Mrs. Reynolds. She is woke and alert for much as I can see but having trouble moving her arms. I don’t see any paralysis down the road. We have to get the breathing tube out and eventually start some rehabilitation for her as well. I must say someone was really watching over her because it was a very close call” he said.
“Thank you Jesus for answering my prayers! It is a miracle! It was God that saved and spared her life Dr. Jackson!
Prayers really do work!” Michelle exclaimed.
“Yes, he did and I would never doubt that it was God because miracles do happen. I am glad that everything worked out for the best but she still has a tough road to recovery. I have to find her husband and let him know as well” he said. “Thank you for all you have done Dr. Jackson. I really appreciate it. I really do” she told him.
“No problem and if I had to do it over again I would. I am about saving lives and helping others. You can go see her in about an hour. Nice meeting you” he said.
“Same here” she told him.
I am so happy that my best friend is going to be okay. I can’t wait to see her Michelle thought to herself. She took her cell phone out to call DeWayne.
“Hey honey” Michelle said.
“Hello my love. Is everything okay?’
“Yes, Janet woke up! Can you believe it?! I prayed so much for her and I know God heard my prayers!” she exclaimed. “Yes he did babe and I am so glad Janet is going to be okay. She really is going to need you now more than ever. I know you will be there for her babe” Dewayne said.
“Yes she will need me more than ever and I plan on being right there every step of the way. Once I go to see her I am coming home. I have some important news for you” she told him.
“Okay can’t wait to hear. I love you Michelle and be careful” he said.
I will babe and I love you too” she said.
“Hello” Michael said into the phone. “What kind of sick game are you playing?” Susan asked.
“You are the one playing the sick game. If you had anything to do with my wife’s accident I am coming after you so you better start looking over your shoulder! Seems you left out that you were married! Oh now you can’t talk?! Michael shouted.
“I had nothing to do you’re your wife’s accident. Well you never asked if I was married so I didn’t tell you. We need to talk soon because there is something I have to tell you” Susan said.
“Yeah, we will have a talk alright because I am going to get to the bottom of this and if you are any way responsible for my wife’s accident you will pay!” Michael shouted as he ended the call. The nerve of her to call me and ask what kind of game I am playing. I have to focus on Janet now and I will deal with Susan later. “Hello Mr. Reynolds. This is Dr. Jackson. I am calling you to inform you that your wife is awake and we are in the process of removing her breathing tube. She is still in a very fragile state and will need rehabilitation at some point” the doctor said.
“Wow best news I have heard all day doctor! Am I able to see her now?” Michael asked.
“Sure in about an hour and try not to tire her out. She has been through a great deal of trauma and do not want her to relapse” the doctor said.
“Okay I will be gentle with her. Thank you for all you and your team have done. Can’t thank you enough” Michael said.
“Thank God too because he was watching over her. I will talk with you later Mr. Reynolds’s” the doctor said. He still was not sure of the bruises on Mrs. Reynolds but time will tell he thought to himself.
Chapter 7

Michael was so happy that Janet was going to be alright. I would have never forgiven myself if anything would have happened to Janet. I am going to do everything in my power to make this right. Michael made a stop in the gift shop to buy flowers for Janet before going up to her room. Michael opened the door to his wife’s room and braced his self for what he may see. Wow! Michael couldn’t believe that Janet was alert and sitting in an upright position. “Hey honey. You gave me quite a scare. I was so scared I would never be able to see or talk to you again. I bought you some flowers to brighten up your room” Michael told Janet.
Janet just looked at Michael with a hurt and pained look on her face. She wanted to yell and scream at him for what he had done to her but she didn’t want to get herself upset. “Areee youuu sure about that Michael?” Janet stammered. She could hardly get her words out.
“Why would you say that? You know I love you Janet” Michael replied.
“Michaelll youu doo nott have to liee to meee. Jussst goo before I get upsettt” she stammered.
“Okay I will leave because that’s the last thing I want to do is upset you. I will come back later. I love you” Michael said.
Janet just turned her head and looked out the window. With tears running down her eyes she thought of the baby she lost. God please help me get through this pain and give me strength because I cannot do this on my own and please help me to forgive my husband for what he has done to me. I know I have to forgive but it is hard just help me God please Janet cried to herself. I wish my best friend would come so I can see and hug her. I miss her and I know she will come to see me.
Michelle was so anxious to see Janet. She didn’t know what she would have done if Janet didn’t make it. She stopped in the gift shop to pick up balloons and flowers for Janet. Okay here it goes Michelle thought to herself.
