A Matter of Principal Page 17

by Leigh Michaels

“There are going to be more children?” she asked demurely. But there was a catch in her breath; she wasn’t sure if it was from the idea of another generation of McKennas—dark-haired, blue-eyed, strong-willed and thoroughly charming—or the ravishing touch of Patrick’s hands against her breasts. She answered her own question. “I wouldn’t be surprised if there are several.”

He smiled, but his voice was serious. “And will you think about Susan?”

She shook her head. “I don’t have to think, Patrick. I couldn’t ask for a better father for her.”

“You won’t regret it, I promise you. Will you marry me soon?”

His lips were trailing down her throat, and his thumb was drawing sensual circles over her nipple.

“I think I’d better, don’t you?” She was a little breathless.

“Well, I could keep doing this until you give in.”

“In that case, Patrick, I might need a week or two to think about it.”

He laughed. “And Nell told me a young woman in love wasn’t capable of being rational!”

“That’s funny. She told me the same thing about you.” She put her head down on his shoulder. “Shall we call her up and tell her that we came to our senses?”

“Later,” Patrick murmured. “After all, she’s the one who’s got all the patience in the world.”
