“I understand. Thank you. I have a lot to think about.”
She stood up. “Remember. Don’t tell anyone.”
“I won’t.”
She left.
I thought, She was telling the truth, but she had an underlying reason to do so. I wonder what her secondary agenda is. No matter. She was telling the truth, and this gives me some ideas. I smiled. It gives me some wonderful ideas!
Two days later, Susan walked up to Colleen. “You think it worked?”
“It worked. You were right. Telling the truth was the only way to keep his mind off leaving. He’ll be so busy trying to play games with Becky, and with working on the improvements, at the same time that it will be another year before we need to worry about this again.”
“Thanks.”
But before Colleen could say “you’re welcome,” Susan was gone.
Big Yellows said, “Admiral, you are needed on the bridge. We just were told by the Body Proper that a much larger fleet, with ships ten times the size of the largest one we have ever encountered, just magically appeared in our way. An entire fleet just teleported into out path. We are slowing down.”
Little Yellows said, “This one just sent a message to the new ships.”
Surprised, Red yelled, “Through the helmet!”
Gray asked, “What did he say?”
Little Yellows said, “He said to hold off until the actual fighting ships arrive. Apparently, all we’ve fought so far are old-style ships with little to no real ability. Ships that he created years ago. The real warships are on the way, and there are thousands of them.”
Gray turned white. Blue nearly fainted. Black entered the room and looked at me with a need I could not identify.
Clear entered, and I watched him travel across the room as he thought about killing me. His career was ruined, and his pen was in shame due to his actions—and he was going to kill me for revenge.
As I watched, the Black followed my lead and struck with a force I had not witnessed before. He slammed the Clear, grappled it, and then broke it in two. Then he turned to me. “That coward is dead.” He turned to Gray. “Admiral, as per standard orders, your color is in charge. The Body Proper is telling your leader.”
Gray looked at the tank and then looked around in a panic. “Where is the prisoner? Where is Freddy?”
