“What are you doing here?” He growled, looking up and down at her. Matt wanted her here, but not if she was with his brother. There was no way he could deal with their relationship.

“I wanted to talk to you.” He let her in and closed the door, only to catch a glimpse of Ryan’s car in the driveway.

“So, you brought Ryan with you? He’s lucky the axe is out back,” he snarled, reaching for the front door again.

“Stop that,” she hissed, pressing her hands to his bare chest. The pleasure raced up his body like he knew it would. Their eyes met, both feeling the connection. It was a look of longing that needed to be sated.

“Don’t tell me to stop shit, woman,” he muttered, closing the gap between them. He moved in so close that her back hit the door. Raising his hands and planting them on the door beside her head. “I’m going to kiss you and I don’t give a fuck what he has to say about it,” he confessed, dropping his head and pressing his lips to the woman he loved and lusted for. She parted them slowly, letting him slip his tongue into her mouth. Mentally, he felt like a win when she allowed it. The kiss continued to intensify physically, emotionally it couldn’t get more intense. He pulled her head back by her hair. “You’re done with him. You’re mine now. You’ve always been mine.”

  “You owe him an apology.”

Stopping the kiss and backing off her, he hissed, “The fuck I do. He did the shadiest shit a brother could do.” Matt ran his hand through his hair, frustrated with this situation.

“No, he didn’t. I don’t know what you think was happening between us or why you assumed that, but we’re not together and would never be.”

“What the fuck was he doing touching your face and planted between your thighs?” he asked, closing the distance again and asserting his dominance. She pressed her hand on his bare chest, sending pleasure through him almost making him forget what he saw.

“If you’d seen what happened a whole thirty seconds earlier you would understand that it wasn’t what you think. I tripped and hit my head on his desk so hard I was dizzy afterward. He was worried and helped me up onto his desk. He was checking to see if I needed a doctor and if I cracked my skull.” She lifted the cotton hat off her head and at the center was a dark bruise with a small welt. Matt felt like a dick immediately, he hadn’t taken care of her like he promised he’d do from the moment he saw her.

The overprotectiveness washed over him and he pulled her up and into his arms. “Oh shit. Are you okay?” he asked, carrying her to the sofa. She started to shake in his arms, so he held her tighter.

“I’m going to be fine. High heels aren’t my thing it seems,” she laughed. It was something he found so sexy. I could listen to her laugh all day, he thought.

“I think you look perfect in them.” He growled against her ear, wanting to do so much more, but afraid to push it. They didn’t know each other, and apparently, they had so much to talk about before he planted his baby in her. That was what he had planned when he got back. Wanting her secured to him, he was going to fuck his baby into her before Ryan could make his move. Now it seemed like it was irrelevant. Part of him needed to apologize to Ryan, yet another part told him he didn’t fucking owe nobody anything. Ryan made it seem he was doing everything he could to keep them apart. Matt thought it was because he didn’t want to lose his assistant. He talked about Candice on every call, and Mara said that Candy was all over Ryan that night.

“You should have seen me all week, then you wouldn’t say that. Ryan said I looked like a newborn calf.”

“That sounds like Ryan. Did he drive you here?” As much as he loved having her here, the idea of Ryan staying was too much.

“Yes, he’s on the phone with someone called July. They were arguing and he’s planning to go after her.” Matt knew there was something going on between them before she up and quit one day. Just a note without a goodbye.

There was a knock on the door and Matt sat Candice on the sofa before getting the door. Ryan stepped in and set her suitcase down. “Sorry to interrupt, Matt, but I got to piss before I hit the road.” He looked at Matt’s shirtless frame. “Damn, you work quick. I got in here just in time.” Matt pulled his brother into a hug.

“I shouldn’t have jumped the gun.”

“No. Trust me when I say I get it.” Ryan smiled and clapped his brother on the shoulder. “Excuse me, I’ve got to go piss. I need to get the jet for Dallas.”

“I’ll call to have it ready,” Matt said, picking up his cell on off the table.

“Good. Thanks,” Ryan said, walking to the general bathroom down the hall. Candice was sitting on the couch looking nervous and a bit out of place. Matt couldn’t take his eyes off her.

“This is Matthew Kane. Ryan Kane will need the jet in two hours to Dallas.” As soon as he got it straightened out, he moved back to the sofa to sit with Candice.

“Sweet Candy, I want to kiss you, but if I do again, we’re going to be naked in bed in a minute.”

“You make it sound like a bad thing,” she tossed back. She took off her coat and gloves because it was warm inside. Matt tried not to stare at the menial task that had no sexual intent behind it, but was turning him on.

“It is with Ryan here,” he growled.

Ryan stepped back into the room and said, “I’m out of here. Wish me luck. Her father’s a fucking cowboy.” He raised his brows and shook his head.

“Run off with her and have the jet ready for takeoff.” Matt wasn’t joking, he should have stolen Candy the moment he first saw her instead of leaving her to Ryan.

“That may be the way to go. Have fun you two, and I expect some nieces and nephews. Godfather status.” He winked and walked out the front door.

  Candice

Ryan had left them alone and the tension in the air was thick with need, silent apologizes, and unspoken promises.

“I’m sorry, Candy. I shouldn’t have let my jealousy get the better of me. That won’t happen again.”

“I hope so. I hope you never have a reason to doubt me,” she said, pulling his head down for a gentle kiss full of heart. She’d fallen in love with him in what seemed to be an overnight decision.

He took the surprise kiss and laid her down on the sofa. Leaning over her, he stared into her blue eyes. She loved the look on his face. It said so much and she wanted everything. She pressed her hand to his bare chest knowing that it brought out the animal in him. “Make love to me.”

  “Always.”

He stood up and grabbed her hands, pulling her to her feet. He winked before she was off her feet and cradled in his arms. She let out a giggle before he whispered, “I’ve been wanting to do this since forever.” She melted completely in his arms.

  Chapter Seven

  Matt

Feeling like a king, he carried his queen to his bed. Setting her down on her feet, he started to undress her. He lifted up her oversized sweater and tossed it to the side. Matt tried not to drool as he stared at the sexiest tits ever. She had handfuls, and just needing to touch them, he cupped each breast, squeezing and softly rubbing his thumbs over her nipples, making them peak.

She tossed her head back and moaned, giving Matt access to her neck. Her skin was soft and sweet. “Mmm,” he moaned against her ear. “I can’t wait to taste all of you, my sweet Candy.”

Reaching behind, he unsnapped her bra. She opened her arms and let it fall away. He kissed her lips, slipping his tongue into her mouth, sliding it back and forth with hers. Matt raked his hands through her hair and pulled her ponytail out, letting Candy’s long blonde hair fall around and frame her gorgeous face. Sitting her down on the bed and standing between her thighs, Matt bent down and kissed her. Their kiss intensified and desire went straight to cock; he pulled his lips away and gently pushed her to the mattress. She gave a light bounce, making her breasts jiggle.

“Mine,” he growled, looking at them like he had intentions of doing fucked up things to them. “I’m going to fucking possess every inch of you, Candy
. I want to lick your pussy and see if you’re as sweet as your name,” he confessed, grinding his lower body on hers until they were both panting. He could feel the front of his jeans wet from his precum.

Standing up, Matt tugged at her jeans, unbuttoning them and pulling them down and off her, taking her shoes and socks with. He stood there for a moment admiring her perfect figure. Everything about her just sent him reeling with desire.

Kneeling, he parted her legs that were still hanging off the bed. He pressed his face to her pink panties, pushing his mouth against her pussy and planting a kiss. She shivered, sat back up, and nervously tried to close her legs, but, with a wicked grin, he held them open.

“Mine,” he reminded her again with an arched brow and a no nonsense expression on his handsome face. She relaxed and laid her head back down. He slid his finger, pushing the panties to the side before running his tongue methodically up and down her slit. Candice nearly bucked her body off the bed. “Mm…need more,” he grunted, tearing her panties off.

He lifted her legs and wrapped them around his shoulders as he feasted. Every tiny whimper told him what she wanted. He slipped a finger in her tight heat, stretching her while trying to get her honey on his tongue. Sucking her clit sent her screaming over the edge. She called out his name repeatedly, “Matthew.” His cock pressed hard against his jeans as he tried to stave off the need to come. Her voice was melodic and breathy. The sound that would send any man over. Rising to his feet, he undid his jeans and whipped out his large cock. He watched her eyes as she stared at his length. He planned to break her in two while planting his baby in her. That was all he thought of in London. Hell, since the first time he saw her. Lifting her legs and wrapping them around his waist, he tested her entrance and sunk into her depths.

Matt froze when he felt the tear and the way her pussy tried to reject him. He looked down into her eyes that were glazed and filled with unshed tears. “You’re definitely mine alone.”

  Candice

She nodded, laced her fingers around his head, and pulled him down to her. He kissed her like she deserved; like she was everything and more. Once her body relaxed, he began to rock his hips. The feeling made him growl and moan, tossing his head back. Watching him lose himself in her body brought her back to where she’d been before. She ran her nails against his broad chest, learning his body. As he moved faster inside her, she started to get the rhythm and followed his direction.

“Oh,” she moaned, wrapping her legs tighter around him and pressing her heels against his ass. They ground their bodies together until there was nothing separating them. The sweat from their heated skin eased the grinding. Their voices were full of moans and sighs, and their flesh slapping against each other echoed in the exposed wooden vaulted ceiling.

“I’m so close. Your pussy is like a drug I know that I’ll never get enough of,” he admitted, thrusting harder into her.

She clawed at him, needing more. Her orgasm was so shocking that she cried out, “Oh my God.”

“No, baby. It’s only me,” he muttered, shooting his release into her womb. She felt his body stiffen as he emptied his cum inside her. It was almost enough to turn her on again. “Thank you,” he whispered over and over again. He moved them to the center of the bed, grabbing her shirt to wipe her down, tossing it in the laundry basket, and cuddling her up in his arms to go to sleep.

“Rest, my love,” he muttered against her ear, sending shivers down her body. She loved this man with everything in her and nothing and no one was going to change that. This is what a relationship should feel like, she thought to herself.

  Chapter Eight

  Matt

Waking up to the smell of bacon came to him as a surprise. He walked into the kitchen in a pair of joggers to see Candy talking to Danielle, his little sister. “Matt,” Danielle squealed, jumping in his arms.

“What are you doing here?” he asked, thankful he was wearing pants.

“Mom called me and said you were here and probably didn’t have any food, so I brought up some before the storm kicked up.”

“Did you drive up by yourself?”

“No, Reed is making a snowman outside with your nephew.”

Matt walked to the window and saw just that. He smiled to himself because one day it would be his turn to make snowmen with his kids. He wanted to scoop Candy back up and take her to bed, making sure to knock her up.

“Don’t worry. We’ll be out of your hair soon, mom just asked to make sure you were taken care of or she’d come here herself.”

  “Thanks for coming then.”

“Candice is making some lunch for all of us before we leave, so why don’t you go play with the boys.”

“You know you sound like mom already.”

“Shut up,” Danielle hissed. Matt ran up to Candy and planted a fast but passionate kiss on her lips before snatching a piece of bacon and running to get dressed.

  Candice

She’d been surprised to see a woman pop up at the front door until she noticed the resemblance to the Kane’s. She knew the woman was Danielle. They brought in several grocery bags along with a little boy. Danielle was clearly pregnant and it struck a chord with her. Candice feared being like her mother and having a man that only stayed because he knocked her up. They hadn’t used protection and she worried that she was following in her mother’s footsteps.

When Matt went outside to play with the boys and she watched the way he lovingly played with little Reed, some of her fears slipped away. She knew Matthew wanted to marry her and he had every intention of getting her pregnant, which he made clear while she was serving lunch.

He came up behind her and started peppering kisses on her neck, then whispered, “Mm…I see you looking at her round belly. I can’t wait to get you pregnant. Just the thought has me hard.” He hugged her tighter. “Candy, you’re my world.”

She almost dropped the plate of burgers she made so she could drag him off to the bedroom. He hadn’t told her he loved her, but after the messages he sent Ryan to the words he had spoken to her, she knew. It was only a matter of time before he told her.

They finished their food just as the first flakes of the storm started to come down. “Okay, Reed, let’s go,” Matt said. Reed got up and started picking up the dishes.

Candice started to get up, but Danielle tapped her hand. “Sit down. This is a lovely thing to enjoy.”

  “I’ll help them clean up.”

  “Did they help you cook?”

  “No.”

“Then they clean up. It’s the rule in the Kane household; something Reed learned from and adopted in the Landry household.”

“Oh my. This just keeps getting better and better.”

“My parents raised some remarkable men. I hope that we can keep that tradition and respect up with our children.”

“I’ve never known a man to help with anything.”

“That’s the case with a lot of men. It’s the wife’s job even if she’s got a job outside the house.”

“I really lucked out.” Candice knew that he was more than she could have ever hoped for. It scared her, but from the talk she had with Rose the other night, it seemed that she wasn’t the only one who thought this family was amazing. In the two years for her, nothing changed between her and Spencer. Well, she said their passion and love intensified. Candice couldn’t wait for the time when she could tell Matt that she was pregnant.

They all left about half an hour later to make sure they got down the pass and to their home before the storm hit. They lived on the other side of town. Matt promised that we’d all go down to the Kane’s family home for Christmas. As much as she wanted to go, she was nervous. So far everyone she met was amazing, but his parents were considered the best. It unnerved her, wondering if she could live up to the family name.

“What’s on your mind, beautiful?” Matt said, walking her to the sofa.

“Nothing,” she replied, attempting to seem sunny.

  “Bullshit,
Candice. Tell me what had that concerned look on your face a moment ago.”

“What if your parents don’t like me? I mean…I’m not like you.”

“I’m glad you’re not like me because I’m not into dudes, but my parents aren’t snobs.”

  “No, but they’re perfect.”

“Ha, I supposed compared to a lot of parents they are, but they are pretty normal people. My mom is a nosy, loving, controlling mother. My father is a determined, questioning, and stern father. They’ll love you. If they could love Rose, you’re a shoo-in.”

  “Why wouldn’t they love her?”

“Her and Reed are cousins. Technically, they’re brother and sister. Long story. Anyways, Mitch Landry, the man believed to be Rose’s dad, screwed our company and family over. He’s in prison right now for that and for trying to have Rose killed. She isn’t her parents, and my parents, hell the whole family, welcomed her.”

“Especially you,” Candice let her jealousy slip.

“Come on, now. I don’t know what you’ve heard or what you’ve been told, but it wasn’t like that.”

“I know, I’m sorry. Rose is a really nice person. I’m just being petty.”

“No, you’re being reasonable. I understand. My brother gives me shit all the time for no reason about her. Yes, I planned to asked her out one day. Just like I planned on getting a tattoo one day. Neither have ever happened. I could have asked her out, but I didn’t. She’s a pretty girl, but no different than any other. I wanted to be her friend more than anything. I hated her father and I worried for her. That’s it. She has my brother and I couldn’t be happier for them.”

  “I’m sorry.”
