"Uh, that would be me."
Roger raised one hand in the air, still openly gawking at Viveka. "Guilty!"
"Roger," Viveka purred. "That sounds a lot better than Darryl."
Jillian looked at the two of them for a moment and then back at Darryl.
"You're telling the truth?" she asked.
"I promised not to hurt you," he said quietly so that only she could hear.
Darryl claimed that he did not know who ViVi22 was and she believed him. Unless he was the greatest liar in the world, he had to be telling the truth. Why then would he have invested his time and money to see her in Kentucky, in order to clear things up between them?
Viveka thought that it was the best time for her to interrupt the two of them. She decided to take charge of the situation, lest her deception be revealed.
“Listen, what happened between the two of you was just a simple misunderstanding. Allow me to explain. I was the one who convinced Jillian to test you. I pretended to be someone else and I created a fake profile on the site. Then I sent you a message, Darryl. Only, it wasn’t you on the receiving end, but rather Roger, not so?” She waited for confirmation for Darryl and Roger. After receiving nods from the both of them, she continued, “ Then Jillian and I believed that it was actually Darryl who was communicated with me. So there it is! A simple case of misunderstanding. Now you two, just kiss and make up,” she instructed.
Though they weren’t alone in the coffee shop, Jillian and Darryl stood up and embraced each other for the first time. She was slightly shorter than he was so he had to bend a little. His lips touched hers. Each felt an electrifying sensation. It was more like a passionate smack than an actual kiss. Even though they were already in love with each other, physical intimacy was something new and challenging for the both of them. That situation was something they planned to change very soon.
As his strong arms engulfed her, Jillian felt a complete sense of belonging. She had finally found the one that she had been waiting for all her life and she did not want him to ever let her go.
Darryl looked into her eyes. They were a few shades darker than his but that did not hide the unmistakable sparkle of love that was peering back into his soul. He knew that he did not have to look any further.
“I promised that I would never hurt you, Jillian,” he remarked, not wanting to lose the moment as yet.
"And I promised you a picnic," she grinned.
Roger and Viveka were too busy enjoying each other’s company to pay much attention to their mutual friends. Inspired by the moment, they decided that they would join Darryl and Jillian on the picnic and make it a couples’ outing. Two individuals’ search for true love had led to two new relationships. Exciting times were ahead for the four friends.
