“Maybe, but it’s getting close to eleven!”
“So? Daddy let us stay up for the ball drop at New Year’s when you had to perform!” Fiona exclaimed.
Natalie giggled and nodded beside her sister. “Yeah, it was great. Eleven’s not late at all.”
Anna nudged her sister with her elbow. “Shh, we weren’t supposed to tell.”
Ian, who was there too and annoyingly a head taller than me now, just laughed. “Sis, you’re going to have to learn how to keep it cool when you’re getting away with stuff. It’s all about the attitude and the confidence.”
Ryker arched an eyebrow at our son. “So, what have you been getting away with lately, Ian? It better not involve your lab partner Becky?”
“No comment,” Ian said, holding up his hands in defeat. “Hey, squirts, come here.”
The three girls ran from me to Ian and hugged him tight. To think I’d been worried the first time I’d ever told him about my pregnancy, scared that he’d be hurt and think I was replacing his old family. There wasn’t a big brother out there who loved his sisters as much as Ian did Natalie, Fiona, and Anna. He’d protect them until the seas dried up and the sun went dark. I knew that in my bones.
He was so like his father.
“Well,” Aunt Ellen said. “I think that’s enough congratulating Mom. We’re going to head straight home for sleep and then probably see the zoo tomorrow. You all have a nice weekend.” She winked at both Ryker and me. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
“That leaves open a lot of stuff,” Ian chirped.
“Enough,” Ryker replied. Then he strode over to where Ian was and kissed each of our girls on the crowns of their heads. “Be good for Aunt Ellen. Oh, and don’t harass your brother…too much.”
Fiona grinned, and I bet she took it as an invitation to do some damage and tease her big brother. She would. “Oh, we promise, Daddy.”
“Bye, Daddy!” Natalie said, hugging him.
Anna was more quiet by nature—though still a pure Eden—but she demurely hugged her dad before the whole pack of kids and my Aunt Ellen walked out the door.
Ryker made sure my dressing room door was shut behind them, and then he locked it. “Well,” he said, giving a low rumble through his chest. When he talked like that, it went straight to my core, sent a fire flaring through my belly. I was sure Ryker knew it too, knew that it struck down all my reserves. “What are we going to do alone in your room?”
I stood up and carefully slipped out of my costume. I didn’t own them, but the theater sure did, and even if I was married to a billionaire, I didn’t want to abuse their trust. I hung the dress up on the mannequin and shimmied out of my own underwear. Standing naked before Ryker made me feel powerful, like it seemed impossible that a man as sexy and amazing as the Ryker Eden could love me too.
Let alone be my husband and the father of my children.
The person I’d spend the rest of my life with, and who I considered my soulmate.
Who I knew deep in my bones was the only man I’d ever love.
“You know,” I practically cooed. “They just redid the bathroom for my dressing room. Huge walk-in shower now, about a billion jets.”
Ryker unknotted his tie and slipped off his jacket. “Then what are we waiting for, darling?”
***
He had me up against the shower wall. His hungry mouth roamed over my body, licking over my collarbone, down my neck, and over the peaked nipples of my breasts. His length was pressed up against my belly, as heavy and hard as ever. I was wet for him in a way that had nothing to do with the sudsy shower or the water still flowing over us both.
Ryker had that effect on me, even now. No matter how busy my day was or how tiring sometimes being with the kids could be…even if I’d just read a review in the paper that made me upset…no matter what, I could have Ryker naked before me in all his muscular glory and still be wet and ready for him in an instant, my clit throbbing for him as it was now.
He slid his thick manhood inside of me and flexed his hips up and down. I hissed at the heat of him as he entered me, at the way I felt complete with him buried balls deep inside of my core. Ryker shifted his hips again, and I dug my heels into his side.
Screaming loudly, not caring who heard me, I gave a completely different type of encore. Even as Ryker pounded harder into me, I bucked against him and let the heat and passion—that raging fire—surge between us. Finally, he found the perfect spot, the angle that set every nerve of my body on fire. I came, and that fire of passion burning between us exploded into an entire forest fire, a raging inferno that blazed with an intensity that, even now, neither of us could control.
But that we both craved.
That I knew I’d always want, no matter what.
“God, Ryker, yes!”
When I could stand again, Ryker set me on my feet and lathered up my hair. He reached down every so often and squeezed the swell of my hips, even let his hand stray between my still sweetly aching thighs.
“I never thought I could be this happy again.”
“I never thought I could be this happy. Period,” I admitted.
He pulled me around and drew me to his chest. His erection was up again and clearly hungry for another round after only twenty minutes. The water would soon grow cold, but neither of us cared.
“I love you, Savannah, always and forever,” he said.
I kissed him, losing myself in the cinnamon and heavenly taste of it all. “Always and forever,” I agreed. And I meant that until the day I died.
