Side Chick Catching Main Chick Feelings 2

by B. M. Hardin

  I loved him.

  He loved me.

And that was the only thing that mattered.

After a few minutes, a few words and the exchange of wedding bands, it came time for us to seal the deal with a kiss..

He smiled and the kiss that he laid on me almost made me melt.

It was a kiss that I would never forget.

A first kiss between his wife and my husband.

  I was officially married!

  Can I get a amen!

I mean, Drake was my husband!

  Oh hell to the yeah!

I walked out of the courthouse smiling from ear to ear.

I was the happiest woman on the whole planet at that moment and it just felt good to finally be completely his.

I’d waited forever for this day, and it had come.

Daddy and Velvet wanted to carry on a conversation but Drake and I seemed to have the same thing on our minds.

We rushed them off and headed home.

It was time to get freaky!

I could definitely have some sex at this point and though I still cautioned him that it was best if we took it slow, nothing was still off limits.

To be honest, it was probably the best sex that we had ever had.

It was the type of sex that should have gotten me pregnant, but I wasn’t even going to think about it.

After we made love, and then got ourselves together, we headed out to enjoy the rest of the day together.

Drake said that we didn’t have to go anywhere to have a honeymoon; we could bring the honeymoon to us.

Though we were still planning to take one as soon as possible.

It was just his way of saying let’s make the absolute best of the day.

And that’s exactly what we did.

We did everything under the sun, just like we used to do before the wife, prison, and even before Drake got into the drug game.

We ate, took a walk in the park, went to ride go-carts, and we pretty much did everything that we used to enjoy doing together.

  Everything was perfect.

  It was all just perfect.

We didn’t arrive back home until late that evening and though we were both exhausted, we decided that we wanted to continue spending quality time together, so we showered, together, and laid in the bed naked for a movie night.

I decided while trying to figure out what movie to watch, to catch up on the news.

And that’s when I saw it.

  Jinx’s car was crushed!

The news said that other drivers reported the car to be speeding down the highway and then finally as it swerved to miss a car, it flipped countless amount of times before coming to a stop.

Drake let out a low deep sigh.

My heart was racing and I’d started to sweat.

Seeing it made me feel awful.

Just like the first time, I couldn’t believe that I was a part of something so morally wrong.

But what else was I supposed to do?

Jinx had some people come to my house, beat me half to death and made me lose the baby.

And what if she had something to do with the van that had tried to run us off of the road.

What other choice did I have?

But maybe there could have been other options, versus killing her.

But there was nothing to do about it now.

Seeing Drake sit up, I followed his eyes back to the TV and that’s when I noticed what had caught his attention.

  It was Kane.

Kane had been the one driving the car.

And according to the news reporter…

  Kane was still alive.

  Aw hell…

  ~***~

  Naomi looked pregnant and miserable.

And being that my sister had blasted my pregnancy news out in front of everyone at the church that day, Naomi instinctively glanced down at my stomach.

But unfortunately there was nothing there for her to see.

I could tell that she was confused, but what happened to the baby was none of her business; but there was something else that I had to say.

“That little stunt you pulled should have gotten you beat all the way down. And it still just might happen once you drop that load,” I threatened her.

  Naomi smirked.

“Don’t let the professional look fool you. I’m straight from the hood. Translation…you don’t scare me boo. We can bang all day if that’s what you want to do. If you want me, you know where to find me. Remember? You used to live in my house. But at the end of the day, you got him. And I don’t want him. So what’s the problem?”

She looked frustrated and continued to push her cart but I followed her.

She had her daughter with her and I studied her.

In a way I guess she did somewhat look like Kane but in my opinion, she still favored Drake more.

“So how is your so-called love of your life Kane? He was in an accident right? You do realize that he’s married and he’ll probably never leave her. Side chick life ain’t all it’s cracked out to be. Trust me,” I mentioned to her.

No, I didn’t want to talk to her, but the whole purpose was to try to get the scoop on Kane.

Since I couldn’t exactly call Jinx, and since Kane had been the one driving the car that day, Drake and I were in the dark on his status.

So far, no one had come knocking at our door, so I supposed that meant that nothing stuck out indicating that Drake or I might have something to do with it.

Actually the news said that they believed that it may have been a factory issue or something to that extent but they couldn’t have been more wrong.

Drake had done it just right…again.

I figured that after the mix up, maybe killing Jinx might have been a little too much from the start.

She just needed a good ass whoopin’ for what she did.

So, the plan to her, after talking to Drake on it for days, was out.

“ You’re right it isn’t. But I’m not just some ass like you were to him. I’m the one that he loves and soon she will see that I’m not just his side chick or just the mother of his other kids. No, I’m so much more. She will see,” Naomi proceeded to walk off but I still wanted to ask a few things so I followed.”

“So, he didn’t die? I saw the accident on the news.”

“No he’s not dead. But she won’t let me see him or even talk to him. She won’t even let my daughter see her dad. But it’s all good though.”

I could see the disappointment in her eyes.

I could see that she was serious about everything that she was saying and that she truly felt as though she was more than his side chick.

But all side chicks feel that way at some point or another.

I felt that way for three years and trust me, it wasn’t fun.

I figured that I needed to ask her one last thing; which was the most important thing.

“Have you seen my sister? Last I talked to her she was with Vicki. Have you seen her?”

  “No.”

And with that she walked off and I didn’t follow her.

I paid for my groceries and headed to my car.

I sat there for a while just to get my thoughts together.

Naomi was pretty much in the same situation I was in and the sad part about it all was that I wasn’t sure if her situation would turn out the way that mine own had.

  But she seemed so sure.

And thinking of how Kane defended her in front of Jinx, maybe she had a reason to be.

There was no telling with these people.

And she was still sporting that big ass ring on her ring finger.

  Something was definitely up.

But that was if Kane made it through or out of the hospital.

Really, for some reason being angry at Naomi for telling Drake now seemed pointless.

I’d done the exact same thing in a sense and maybe she felt that she had to or maybe it was because she was just upset that she’d caught
me dealing with the man that had her heart.

  I guess I could understand.

And at the end of the day, she had much bigger fish to fry.

They had kids involved in a sticky situation, as though being the woman on the side wasn’t already sticky enough.

  But that was her problem.

  I had my own.

The knock on my car window startled me and seeing the face behind the knock gave me another feeling that I couldn’t exactly describe.

  Jinx.

I hadn’t seen her since that day I popped up on Kane at the car lot but now that the devil was looking at me right in my face, there was only one thing to do.

Get out of the car and whoop her ass!

  I didn’t want to talk.

I didn’t want to hear what she had to say.

I didn’t want to collect $200 after I passed Go.

I just wanted to beat her the way that she’d had those other people beat me.

She’d taken my child from me.

She’d taken my ability to ever have kids and there was just no forgiving something like that.

  “Bitch, you got some nerve.”

Jinx just looked at me as I got out of the car, but assuming that she noticed the look on my face, she pulled out a gun just as I was about to get the party started.

“Don’t make me pull the trigger Moet. I’m not here to fight with you.”

I looked around the parking lot to see how many witnesses were there just in case things went left.

  She wouldn’t shoot.

  I think.

And by the time I smacked the hell out of her, she wouldn’t have had time to even think about it.

But my fists were no match for silver bullets, so I just stood there.

  “I thought you were pregnant?”

  What?

Oh, so this bitch wants to be funny?

How dare she play dumb and insult me?

Gun or not, I’m not having it!

I’ll take a bullet before I take disrespect.

  “You already had the baby?”

  She stupid.

And she was trying to play me like I was too.

“Cut the crap. You know damn well what happened to the baby. You sent your little click to my house to jump on me and I lost it bitch.”

I was so mad and it was so hard to keep from punching her in the face.

I was starting to shake because I wanted to beat the hell out of her so bad.

“What are you talking about? I didn’t send any click to do anything to you. The last time I saw you, that day I threw the brick through your car window. After falling out with Kane over and over for a while after that, finally we had the conversation that we truly needed to have. Kane promised me that I didn’t have anything to worry about in regards to you or any other woman and he threatened to leave me if I didn’t let the whole thing go. It wasn’t easy but he’s all I know. And I loved him enough to forgive him. So, I don’t know what you are talking about,” Jinx said.

  What?

She sounded so sincere that I almost believed her.

But if she hadn’t done it than who did?

  “You’re lying.”

  “No.”

“Why were you calling my phone over and over if you let it all go?”

“I haven’t called your phone since that day I messed up your car.”

  She was lying!

She’d called me a hundred times after that.”

I wished I hadn’t switched phones so that I could prove it to her but she argued me up and down that she never called me.

She was lying right to my face.

“ Whatever. I haven’t called you and I didn’t send a click to do anything to you. Making you pay wasn’t worth losing my marriage.”

I started to think about what she was saying.

Nope, she thought she had me fooled.

I thought about the time line for a minute.

She threw the brick in my car window after I had already been beaten and lost the baby.

  Nice try bitch!

I didn’t say anything and neither did she for a few seconds.

I was waiting for her to put the gun down so I could attack her but she didn’t.

“I’m here to ask you to come and see my husband.”

I looked at her as though she was crazy.

  See him for what?

And so he was still alive.

And me, go see Kane…not in this lifetime!

“I’m sure that you have heard about the accident. Or maybe you haven’t, but I need my husband back. Things were just getting back on track and then just like that, something goes extremely wrong. But you are the only one that can help me,” Jinx said, now putting the gun in her purse.

  What?

  What is going on here?

Jinx was asking me for help?

  With Kane?

  What was she smoking?

I wanted to lunge at her but she started talking again, and my feet froze in place.

“You are the only one that can help me.”

  “I can’t help you Jinx.”

“Yes you can. You see, he’s alive but there’s a problem.”

I looked at her, awaiting her next statement.

“You see, the only person that he remembers is…you.”

  Chapter FIVE

“No, Moe, it’s their business. Their problem. We’ve already done enough. We’re supposed to be letting it all go. Letting them off the hook and moving on with our lives,” Drake stated.

I told him that Jinx wanted me to go visit Kane at the hospital.

She said that he had been hurt badly in the accident and suffered terrible head trauma.

She said the doctor’s didn’t expect him to pull through and begged her to pull the plug but she didn’t and then she said one day he opened his eyes and…

  Called out my name.

She said he called out for me, begged for me and when she introduced herself as his wife, he called her a liar.

Somehow, of all people, he remembered me.

Out of family, friends, his kids, Jinx and Naomi, he only remembered me.

He did remember who he was but as far as people go, he only remembered me.

The doctors didn’t seem to have all of the answers, but Jinx said that I just might be the key to him regaining his memory.

She said that the doctors said that bringing me to talk to him might help his memory or at least push him in the right direction.

To be honest, I didn’t want to help Kane at all.

After what he’d done to me, and how he’d tried to play me in front of Jinx, I didn’t have anything to say to him.

And Jinx wasn’t my favorite person in the world either.

But to hear her say that she wasn’t behind my attack, raised some questions, and I knew that there was one person with the answers.

  Kane.

I remembered him trying to warn me before it happened, which pretty much had assured me that his wife was behind it all.

But if she hadn’t been, then he knew who was.

Well, that’s if he could get his memory back.

If she hadn’t been, then I had been angry at the wrong person all along.

If she hadn’t been, the whole accident had been for nothing.

And even though it was done and over with and maybe even not that big of a deal, I needed to know who else was out to get me if not them.

And I needed to know why.

And more importantly, I needed to know who was behind me losing my baby so that I could fuck them up.

  Plan and simple.

“No Moe,” Drake said again as he watched me in thinking mode.

My mind was all over the place, but I knew that it was only right to respect my husband’s wishes.

But what about me and what I wanted?

  And I wanted answers!

I told him that Jinx said she hadn’t sent people t
o attack me, which he saw as an even bigger reason to stay away from the situation.

He didn’t believe her either, but he said if she didn’t do it, then who did?

I had yet to tell him that Kane had tried to warn me.

It never seemed like the right time.

And now wasn’t the time either.

I just needed to find out if he could remember who had been out to get me and why.

That’s all I wanted to know.

But I was going to try to let it go and just continue my new, married life with my husband.

But it wasn’t going to be easy.

But at the end of the day, I didn’t owe Jinx any favors and who was to say that she wasn’t lying anyway?

She could have just been saying what she needed to say so that I could do what she wanted me to do.

But I wasn’t going to be her sucka’!

I kissed Drake and he kissed me back.

He knew that I wanted to be naughty and it didn’t take him long to give me what I wanted and then shortly after, he headed out to work as usual and I was left at home, doing nothing.

I’d decorated the whole house since I had been better and now I needed to find something else to keep me active.

I tried calling Lee Lee again.

  Still nothing.

I didn’t care what Chardonnay said, this was not normal.

I hadn’t heard from her in so long that I’d lost count.

A while ago, she had sent one little text saying that she was fine and that she was going to call me soon, but she never did.

I called and called after that, be she never answered or texted me back again.

So, with nothing but free time on my hands, decided to go by her house again.

Her car still wasn’t there but I knew that somewhere there had to be a spare key .

Mama had always told us that give an extra key to a person and give an extra key to nature; which meant always hide a spare key somewhere around the house or in your car, which is where I kept mine.

I got out and started looking around the house for a spare key.

It was a nice little house.

I wasn’t sure if Lee Lee owned it or not.

  I’d never bothered to ask.

But it was cute and cozy looking, but it still had just a pinch of personality.

After looking for a few minutes and finding nothing, I headed around the back of the house, and I did the only thing left for me to do.
