The logical guess is they are preparing to attack the United States. Could be greed or survival, maybe desperation? The United States has lots of things these other nations want, including huge resources and money. Why not take them? Why else would they be that close to Alaska with such a large mass of troops? Using a lot of troop trucks and tanks, they could pour fifty or sixty million troops down through Alaska and Canada, sweeping down into the States, using the interstate road network. Why do they think this is necessary and that it will work?
Still, how did they put that many troops there without the United States knowing? What else is going on? How do they feed them? Do they think the US Army is currently vulnerable? Is troop strength low? No boots on the ground, no civilian militia, maybe depending on technology only to defend the country. The Washington civilian leaders might have the foolish belief no country would ever attack them. This belief is contrary to what the histories of the populations on Earth have always demonstrated: war is the path to power and resources.
Surely the United States has seen these troops from their spy satellites. The CIA must know about this. Did the CIA people get paid for their treason, hiding the knowledge about the troops? Who else was paid off?
There could also be more military assets somewhere else for them to be that strategically daring, to concentrate so many troops in one spot. What else could be going on? Have the Chinese or the Russians brought nukes or chemical weapons in secret into the United States, maybe over the open Mexican border? Is the Mexican government part of the treachery? Maybe a deal was made, or maybe the drug cartels are doing it, their own deal. Maybe there are troops in Mexico, too. A second front makes sense.
Maybe they start out by planting microburst bombs close to the power plants and then destroying power lines, resulting in no electrical energy in the United States. Use cyber attacks to cut off all e-mail, and then destroy all cell-phone communications. Afterward there is complete chaos, then a coordinated military surprise attack. Are there more countries allied to Russia and China? Maybe other enemies are part of it: Iran, North Korea? The Russians and the Chinese have obviously made a deal. Who else is part of it? The Russians would be easy to talk into this.
For one reason alone, they could be convinced to have Alaska back and all that oil. Russia sold the United States the Alaskan area in 1867 for $7 million. Many in Russia think the czar was a fool. He lost a large asset, selling it for pennies, and was hoodwinked by the United States. They have always wanted it back. Now they may have that opportunity; maybe China has agreed to give them Alaska for their help. They would get the oil, too.
My guess is that it is possible their own populations do not know about the potentially coming military conflict. This is one of the advantages of an autocratic government: dictators don’t have to report to anyone. Have the Washington politicians provided a reason for the Chinese and the Russian leaders to attack, something they could use to justify a war to the rest of the world?
Why? The world economy is in trouble. Maybe money lost from countries not paying their debt? Maybe the Chinese government feels threatened. Are they afraid the United States is defaulting on their debt? It was not good my last time there. Maybe the States’ large debt is getting larger. To the Chinese it has always been a problem. A big problem if maybe they think they will not get their money back. It is possible the Chinese have no faith in the United States’ ability to control their national debt, thinking the States will choose to print money instead, thus paying them back in cheap inflated dollars. Billions of dollars would be cheapened, the world economy thrown into chaos, and the value of their loaned dollars destroyed, making the Chinese leadership look like fools to have loaned so much money to the United States. Yes, it is a good excuse to go after US resources.
The more I think about it, the more anxiety I feel. Historically the Chinese and Russian governments have never been high on the United States; they still remember the Cold War years. They would be delighted to support an attack if it worked in their favor. Do they have respect for the Washington politicians? Politicians who might sell their loyalty, betray their country? Do they think Americans will not fight for their country, too busy on Facebook, playing video games, or watching TV? Do they consider the United States weak and vulnerable to attack?
The US government maybe thinks naively that they are respected by the world, surrounded by nations who want the status quo to stay the same. Thinking they want to support the US way of life and goals as the United States stays democratic, a free people, and well off. Then maybe they are foolish by thinking other countries are not envious of the United States’ prosperity, the taking up of so much of the world’s resources by a small population. The United States doesn’t know, never suspects the contempt or understands another country’s jealousy of the United States, the lust for that wealth and those resources.
The media in the United States could be feeding them superficial nonsense, no real information about reality, lulling them into a false sense of security. Using ugly stories to divide the country, they create hatred among cultural segments, exploiting the ignorant; worst of all, backing poor leaders. Are the young grateful, and do they appreciate their right to be free, the right to own a gun, to vote, to pursue happiness? Could the US government be overconfident, maybe arrogant, thinking they have many friends and allies, maybe assuming the world knows the United States is too powerful and too important to ever be attacked?
What could be motivating the unbelievable possibility or delusion of starting a major war? What could be worth starting all the destruction and suffering of war? Who would win?
It is easy to think this out, and the numbers are scary. The fifty-five million troops attacking would be overwhelming. As 90 percent of them are Chinese, it means the Chinese could primarily occupy the United States after the possible war. They do have the population numbers to make occupation successful. The Chinese population is about 1.4 billion, and with only 5 percent in the military they could have seventy million troops. Ten percent would give them 140 million troops. They have the numbers for a very strong occupying army with little strain. The surplus of males because of the nation’s previous years of female population control helps, too. The male soldiers are without mates and may be looking for females. There are a lot of females in the United States. Plus, the Chinese troops are more or less expendable as far as the Chinese economy is concerned. They are not needed on the mainland. Better here.
The US military forces would have a tough time using nuclear weapons on such a large mass of enemy troops spread out so close to home. They could also destroy much of Canada and the northern latitudes of the United States. Radiation fallout would be terrible. Nuclear retaliation from China or Russia is an issue, too. Fear of that probably would prevent a US nuclear attack on the Chinese mainland or Russia. The Chinese could trade cities one by one with the United States, nuclear missiles back and forth, the destruction awful yet worse for the United States, as it has fewer cities to give up. Could we trade Atlanta for Beijing and so on?
Thus the troops on the ground are critical. What does the United States have in ground troops that are in the country? Just guessing, maybe about a million or less who can actually fight. Maybe four thousand tanks that are usable or maybe fewer, yet this is questionable, depending on their condition and age. Plus, could they be utilized where needed? How many attack helicopters or fighter jets are in the country, not deployed overseas?
If the regular army or the National Guard fails, can a civilian militia face off with the attackers, maybe using guerrilla warfare? Thus the question, how many people or patriots have guns, and will they defend their country? How could they fight tanks and assault weapons with shotguns? Do they have courage and the firearms expertise? Are they willing to sacrifice their lives for freedom and their country?
I am overthinking this. There must be an explanation; it’s just not possible for this to happen. Why would the people of this planet risk it all?
Un
fortunately there’s not much I can do, nor much I want to do. I have seven days left for my visit to Earth and am not in my jurisdiction, nor is it my business, per my employer’s instructions. Plus, solving the problem or the possibility of a third world war is complicated, way beyond what I am allowed to do here. The fact that this might happen is one of the reasons the Consortium is not interested in adding Earth to their membership. Surely the CIA or the NSA knows about this, and the United States is prepared for a possible attack. How could they not know? Are they so overconfident or too arrogant to be on alert, not looking for possible enemies? Or did the Chinese pay off the right people or use blackmail on them from data they hacked from American personal computers?
This is not my problem. I have been looking forward to this visit for ten years, and meeting Anna is an extra blessing. I will follow the events in Russia for everyone’s sake and help if I can, although it cannot become my problem. I am not sure if I should tell anyone, but not Anna or anyone right now; for me to scare and panic a lot of people would not help the situation. I need to check it out more. It’s just too hard to believe.
The other puzzling thing would be the transporting of that many troops without anyone knowing. How could this be? Then there is feeding them. Is it possible the Chinese troops had passage to Russia by ship? Maybe that is the real reason the Chinese built their massive cargo ships. The same cargo ships used for Wal-Mart products. Ships that are capable of carrying almost forty thousand cars or nine hundred million cans could maybe carry one hundred thousand troops per trip. If you had forty ships traveling four thousand miles round trip at twenty miles per hour, thus able to make the trip three times a month, that’s twelve million troops transported in a month. No one would notice, as there would be nothing strange about these massive ships working their way north toward California, just going a little farther up to the Bering Straits near Alaska. The tanks, helicopters, and trucks may have been hauled by rail overland through Russia. Maybe they are using Russian tanks. Maybe they are Chinese tanks that look like Russian tanks.
Go figure! I saw some of these ships as I passed over the straits. I wonder what they carried.
Anna is looking at me, wondering what I am thinking, probing my mind. She is learning fast, developing her telepathic skills, and she knows I am worried.
I respond, “No fair, taking my tricks and using them on me!” I laugh and tell her I will explain to her soon about a bizarre problem. For now we have a ship’s tour to finish.
Chapter 13
The Chinese Premier and His General CIA's Section 58
At the same time, a large Chinese military jet is taking off from Moscow, a big Boeing modified to be a flying command ship, with a very sophisticated communications capacity. It is heavily armed. Several fighter jets are escorting it. Three Chinese generals and numerous support staff are on board, the plane heading for China to meet with the Chinese political leadership. All the critical people will be at this emergency meeting.
General Ling, the Chinese supreme commander, is currently talking to the Communist premier of the ruling Chinese party by a secure phone connection on board, saying, “We do not know what has happened to us, neither do the Russians. We were attacked, suffered serious casualties, maybe one hundred thousand hurt or dead in a matter of seconds, then it was gone. No trace of the attacker and not sure what happened or even what it was. Our guess, it’s just some kind of huge military fighter jet. For sure it was much more extreme than any known aircraft. Not possible, yet it happened.”
Premier Wu-Tong asks, “Have our troops been discovered by the United States? It should not be. It would be difficult for them to discover us with all our precautions. First of all we have paid off all the right technicians working with their surveillance equipment, the staff people and critical CIA management, too. We have also used blackmail and kidnapping to obtain cooperation. Plus Russia’s space station is manipulating their satellite feeds after our hacking into their systems. Currently no one can fly recon over Russia without being shot down. Villages in Russia near the encampment have been evacuated, thus no one is there to spy on us.”
General Ling continues, “Unlikely, yet maybe we have been discovered. If so our attack plans need to be triggered now, before the element of surprise is completely gone. Or worse, we will be attacked again and totally destroyed. What hit us we have little defense against. We could have been annihilated, millions of troops, and we are still vulnerable, just sitting there in one concentrated location. We need to move out, spread out. We have no clue where this thing came from or what it is or whether it will attack again, maybe tomorrow. We are vulnerable, and we just have guesswork.”
Premier Wu-Tong responds, “You and your generals got us into this. You will give us a new military solution immediately, as you need to resolve this issue. Our plan was supposed to solve problems, not make them worse. Let me remind you, you are currently scheduled to attack the United States on August the first, with the ground and weather the most stable in Alaska and Canada. The trucks and tanks should be ready. General, as you know, the people of China need the rice and grain from the world’s greatest farming area. The Midwest and Southern states are critical, as this farmland in the United States is vital to our feeding our 1.4 billion people. If they irresponsibly print currency to avoid paying their debt to us, it will destroy our ability to do business with them. We will lose millions of dollars in our loans to them, the cheap dollars in trade for our more valuable yen, deliberately done to cheat us. We would be foolish to ever do business with them again. Yet we need to buy their grain. We always are looking at possible starvation with our huge population. We will not let this happen.”
The premier is getting excited, intense. In a louder voice, he says, “We also need their corn, pork, beef, coal, timber, aluminum, natural gas, and oil. We need their technology. We also need the United States to pay back our loans in full, not in mega-inflated dollars valued at half of what we loaned them. The United States has a small population, maybe 350 million people, yet monopolizes more food than they need. They have a small military in terms of actual troops, just a few divisions that are spread thin. They are a divided country and are poorly managed. Always with the left against the right, the political leaders can’t make hard decisions. We have always said freedom and democracy do not work. The United States is a house of cards and will come apart easily. We also have plans to offer the president a chance to save his people. We will make him president for life for having his troops stand down, saving many American lives. It will be business as usual. Wall Street will be fine. Everyone will keep their jobs. We think he will take the offer. Of course the Congress will be eliminated, as will the Supreme Court.”
The premier laughs, saying, “They will keep their fast food and movies. They all are spoiled by their wealth, which they don’t deserve. Too much freedom, too much TV, too much Internet, and too much Facebook! We will save the country. You can do this, General. Get it done. Attack!”
The premier, in a low, threatening voice, says, “General, we anticipate a report from you within two days giving us your revised attack plan, with a new timeline and a new immediate attack date. You need to be back here in China with your officers, as you need to make your presentation to the entire leadership. You know the fate of China and the fate of the entire world will rest on our complete success. You need to be successful, or we all will suffer, you especially. Make arrangements to get here as soon as possible. Also, there is one more thing. As to your speculation, tell me, what is your real guesswork for the origination of this attacker? You must have some ideas.”
General Ling hesitates. Then, in a low voice, he answers, “You don’t want to hear this. You will scoff or just ignore me.”
“General Ling, give me your thoughts immediately. I will decide their value.”
“All right. Just between you and me, this situation is impossible. It could not have happened. We know there is nothing in this world that could do this, no known wea
pons or aircraft. Our intelligence gathering is excellent; we should know. Maybe the United States has a weapon we do not know about?”
Premier Wu-Tong quickly retorts, “If so, and if this was their weapon, then they know about us now. We have to move quickly if you are right. You need to attack soon, before August first, in a few days, maybe early next week.”
The general continues, “Premier Wu-Tong, there is something else I should say, although it is difficult to mention. There is another logical explanation. It is strange for me to even think this, much less say it out loud, it is so bizarre. Premier, you may not want my guesswork, as weird as it sounds, and you are rational to ignore me or laugh at me. Maybe I am crazy, but there may be another answer. This ship or weapon might not be from this planet. It may be alien, something from out there, a far advanced weapon from outer space, off world. It travels at speeds we only dream about, so fast we can’t see it. The other reason I say this is we do have some proof. It is because of the type of radiation measured from the tail thrust, fallout remnants on the ground surface underneath, material coming from this aircraft. The results are unknown on this planet, and there are no aircraft that use this fusion propulsion. Also, I do not think we have any real defense against it. We have real problems if it comes back. In fact everyone on Earth has an issue if this is true.”
The premier does not respond. He is speechless, in total shock. Finally he whispers, “General, tell no one until we talk next. We cannot turn back now; we are beyond that point. Pray that you are wrong.”
The CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, is a big place, not really a place of laughter; many serious people work there, with many heavy responsibilities. At this moment, John Jacobs, chief of Section 58 on the third floor, west wing, has a department of six people in a state of confusion, including himself. He is in his office looking out on the parking lot, trying to mentally sort this out.
