Love in the Afternoon Page 5

I gasped. Oh, no. In my haste to get away from a broken heart I knew was inevitable, I had forgotten that Chase’s bedroom window faced the running path. From the elevation of the house, he would have been able to see all the way to the street where I would have crossed to get to the park.

I pressed my fingers to my temple. “Chase…Let me expl—”

“No,” he barked. “You’re going to listen and get something through that thick, stubborn, sensible head of yours.”

My mouth dropped open at his tone, but I stayed quiet.

“The night of my birthday, finding Leeza in my tub fucking another man was exactly what I needed.”

My forehead drew tight. I wondered if he’d lost his mind from depression or something. Through Kalan, I knew that he had maintained the break-up with Leeza and moved her stuff out as he’d said. Leeza was reportedly dating a senior manager at one of the downtown bank headquarters.

“If not for such an appalling embarrassment I never would have woken up to what I knew.”

I wanted to ask what that was, but instead I respected his request for me to remain silent and bit deep into my bottom lip.

Lifting his hand, he stroked his thumb over my lip and gave it a tug until I released it.

He smiled. “I love you, sweetheart.”

“What?” I said, my silence forgotten.

Chuckling, he slipped his hand around to the nape of my neck and pulled me closer to him. We still were not touching as he gazed into my eyes. “I love your smile. Your generous heart. I love how your brown eyes light up when you laugh and darken when you’re aroused. I love the smell of your body and the taste of your pussy. I love how confident you are in your own skin and how you carry yourself. I love every voluptuous curve and the way you scream when you come. Most importantly I love that all these years you have been there for my family, my favorite cousin and for me.”

I was trembling from my core out to my limbs. I couldn’t believe his words; they overwhelmed me. “Chase, I don’t know what to say.”

Slipping his arm around my waist, he said, “Just tell me that when you ran away from me that night it wasn’t because you don’t love me.”

Was he blind and crazy? I gripped his shoulders. “I do love you. I’ve loved you for so long. I was scared, that’s why I ran. I knew there was no way I could lay in your arms all night and not reveal my heart to you. You weren’t ready for that.”

He shrugged. “We will never know. However, in the last few months I’ve dealt with myself and I’m prepared to be the man you need, if you’ll have me.”

“Oh, yes…yes!” I stretched up on my toes and slipped my arms around his neck.

“Good because the family is expecting you at my parents' house tonight.”His hands slid down and cupped my ass holding me against him.

Frowning, I ran dates through my mind trying to figure out why everyone would be gathered. “Why? What’s going on?”

With his strong arms, he lifted me off my feet and placed me on the table to sit. “For our engagement party, of course.”

“What would make them think we’re getting engaged?” My breath hitched as he started placing kisses along the side of my neck.

“The three carat diamond in my pocket, with ‘I love you, Oriana’ inscribed on the inside of the band.” He chuckled.

“For real? Let me see it, Chase,” I begged.

“Soon. I have thought long and hard on how I’m going to propose to you.” He started unbuttoning my shirt.

“You have?”I felt warm and giddy with excitement at the promise of my future before me.

“Oh, yes. It starts with me getting you naked on this conference table and ending with my placing it over your clit while I make you come.” Opening the last button, he pulled my shirt from the waistband of my skirt.

I swatted at his hands. “Chase. Not here. Someone could come in.”

He shook his head. “Oh, no they won’t. I’ve given my whole office staff the rest of the afternoon off.”He slipped his hands beneath the hem of my skirt.

“Why?” I asked, becoming breathless as his fingers brushed the moist seat of my panties.

“Because I didn’t want you to feel embarrassed when you discovered that they all heard you screaming when you came, multiple times.”

My cheeks were on fire and my heart raced with the thought of the ways this man could bring me to orgasm. “I don’t scream.”

“Oh, my love, you have issued a challenge that I plan to happily prove you wrong in.” He kissed my mouth, before he pressed his hand to my chest and guided me back along the table. “Let’s start with how many licks it takes before you come the first time.”

He shoved my skirt up my hips and parted my thighs wide. Just the thought of what was to come had my eyes already rolling to the back of my head. Minutes later, I was screaming out my defeat and the answer to his proposal.

  “Yes!”

  About the Author

I've been penning erotic tales since 2006, on the hedonistic side of the romance genre. However, I've been writing romance under a different pen for a while. I'm eclectic by nature.

I'm married to my best friend. A guy that makes me laugh 'til I can't breathe and one who steals my breath every time he walks into a room. I believe in happily ever after like the rising of the sun depended on it.
