As she sat there taking it all in, Lina recognized the importance of the pen. She smiled, thinking of how brilliant Chantele was, leaving the pen behind for Vincent to find.
“Alex, I know about the pen too. The pen’s special,” Lina explained. “I’ll require your help. We need to break into your mother's files on the computer. Can you help me, Alex?” Lina knew Alex was a genius, if anyone could help her break Chantele's password it would be him.
“Of course, but how?” Alex asked.
“I need you to help me work out the password on your mother's computer,” Lina replied. “We need to crack the code.”
“We can try,” Alex wiped away the tears, the sound of hope returning to his voice.
They attempted all the passwords they could think of to get into Chantele's computer. None of them worked. They entered name and date combinations to dates and places, none of them worked. Alex jumped up, annoyed it was taking so long. He closed his eyes and pictured the diary, trying to see if there were any more clues hidden there.
“When they miss me, ask them to close their eyes, and look in the darkness, so I can light their heart …”
He finally saw it. The password was right under his nose. Chantele used to take him to science fairs where they would discuss the stars, moon, planets, and solar system. Chantele used to remind Alex, as beautiful and mysterious as the world was, there was one planet that belonged to God. The planet of love and miracles. The planet no one could ever find. It was the one only made from love. The love of Jesus and God. The love of freedom and peace. Chantele called it 'Planet Heaven.’
Alex typed it in, ‘Planet Heaven,’ the two words unlocked Chantele’s computer to them. The system came up with one folder open, filled with PDFs. One titled. ‘When love is all you have left,” caught their attention immediately. They both knew that was Chantele. They were elated, finally cracked the clue.
Lina and Alex sat and listened to Chantele's voice. They wanted to hear her, not simply read a PDF. Chantele's voice was calm and collected, almost angelic. Alex felt the warmth of his mother’s presence for the first time since her disappearance.
She explained everything in the recording. Her grandfather Vladimir, the death of her mother Katya, her secret life, and her friend Sanya. It was all there. Lina couldn't believe what she was hearing, the feelings she had for Chantele were spot on. She remained strong, refusing to break down in front of Alex. They listened, together when they realized the man in her office had been Ivan. He was the devil, not Sanya as Chantele thought.
Lina remembered where she had seen him before. The trip to Belgium with Chantele. At the World Congress for Nuclear Medical Research and Development. Ivan had stared at Chantele the entire time in the Congress. His eyes never leaving her. Chantele and Lina both noticed him, uneasy under the glare of his piercing eyes. Lina got up and confronted him. He wore a visitor’s ID badge with the name Ivan printed on it. They exchanged a few words and parted ways. Ivan explained he thought he’d recognized Chantele, but it had been a case of mistaken identity. Now, Lina's anxiety levels were raised as she worried about Chantele's safety.
They closed the file and sat there for a moment, taking it all in. Shaking themselves back to the moment Lina went to shut down the computer. Just then a new file appeared, it was labeled - “FOUND HER - CALL THE POLICE.”
Lina opened the file, her heart racing. The message had been sent by Vincent! He’d been taken to her by Ivan and left detailed directions. Lina alerted the police, leaving the computer running as she and Alex ran down the stairs, following Vincent’s instructions to find Chantele.
Alex couldn’t contain his excitement, because they were finally going to find his mother!
CHAPTER 13
P
retending to be asleep, Chantele thought about Sanya's mother and Ivan's sister. They were facing their last days on earth, both dying from a cruel disease. It was a nightmare for Chantele.
Sanya had been backed into a corner, forced to disclose Chantele's whereabouts in hopes of saving her mother's life. Ivan's plot against Chantele led him to Sanya. She agreed to help Ivan find his niece for the promise of a cure that only Chantele could provide.
She didn’t know of his plan to kill Vincent in front of Chantele if she didn't deliver her end of the deal. Vincent was Ivan's back up plan, an insurance policy.
Vincent was brought to Chantele, and they were tied up, facing each other. Chantele remembered Vincent's distraught face seeing his wife for the first time powerless and weak. He kept saying he loved her, he forgave her, and he’d never leave her. Ivan started torturing Vincent with Chantele unable to look away.
It was moments after this when they heard sirens in the background, almost drowned out by Chantele’s cries. Ivan stopped, grabbing Sanya and fleeing before the police arrived. The police found Vincent and Chantele tied up, but mostly unharmed.
Lina and Alex arrived in time to see Alex’s parents walking out the front door. Breaking free from the paramedics, Chantele ran to her son, holding him tightly while tears flowed down her face. It felt as if she hugged him for an eternity. Alex held her just as tight, almost squeezing the oxygen out of his mother’s body while tears flowed down his face. Chantele was proud of him, how he had come through for them both by deciphering the final clues in the letter.
Samantha and Suzie were happy to see their mother, oblivious to the fact she had been kidnapped. They still thought she had been away on a business trip. Chantele, Alex, and Vincent decided to keep the actual events a secret. Much to the girls’ confusion, Chantele hugged them hard, telling them how proud she was of them and how much she loved and had missed them.
Chantele opened her eyes, knowing she couldn't fall asleep. She decided to have a shower instead. Climbing out from between the silk sheets, she left Harry behind. He hadn’t budged from her side since she returned. Turning the shower on, Chantele took off her nightie and turned on the shower for the second time for the night. She felt dirty, even after scrubbing herself for half-an-hour when the family first got home.
Chantele closed her eyes as the water ran over her face and down her neck. She couldn’t help thinking of Sanya and Ivan. She was so lost in thought, she didn't notice the shower door open.
Vincent decided to join his wife, not wanting to spend one more second without her.
Chantele jumped slightly as she felt something, opening her eyes to find Vincent standing in behind her, surprised by his presence. Chantele knew she had a lot of explaining to do.
Vincent began to slowly massage the base of Chantele’s neck, feeling her tight muscles and knotted shoulders. Slowly, using the coconut scented shower-gel, he washed Chantele's body. He massaged the tension out, making his way down to her waist and back after loosening her muscles. His movements slow and sensual, he touched every inch of her skin. Happy she was home, and in his arms again, he wouldn’t interrogate her tonight. Instead, he chose to continue showing his wife how much she meant to him. Vincent brushed Chantele’s neck with a slow flurry of butterfly kisses.
Chantele dropped her head back onto his shoulder exposing her neck in ‘Yes please,’ manner. Gooseflesh making her skin tingle reminded her how blessed she was to still be alive and finally receiving the touch she’d craved while they were apart.
She was home safely, with her husband and children who loved her and she loved dearly. The planets, sun, moon, and stars had brought them back together again. Reaching backward Chantele felt his hardness against her buttocks.
Turning around, their eyes met, and she saw the pain in his expression, Chantele closed hers in an attempt to block it out. She’d never forgive herself for what her family, especially Vincent, had been put through. Feeling Vincent's gentle touch lift her chin, she tilted her head back. His lips met hers. Their first kiss since the police freed them. At first, it was a light, tentative brush of his lips against hers. When Vincent’s need to know his wife was really home safely, coincided with
Chantele’s desire for reassurance from him that everything was going be all right. Their kiss intensified, and she pulled him closer.
Vincent turned off the shower, continuing his exploration of her body with a towel. Once they were both dry, he carried Chantele back to their bed. He wanted his wife tonight, and he was going to have her. He wanted to connect with the mother of his children, the amazing women he married. He gently lay her down and resumed worshipping her body, this time with his lips. He loved the way Chantele’s nipples hardened under his gentle caress. He tried desperately to control his own reactions, wanting to give her as much attention as he could before entering her, knowing he’d be lost once they joined.
Her moans fueled his passion, and he finally surrendered unable to wait any longer, positioning himself above her he looked down into Chantele's eyes. He lovingly made his way into the depth of her womanhood. Her warmth encasing him with her inner tightness. He moaned in subliminal bliss as he advanced a little more with each thrust. Their sense of belonging so intimately necessary for the both of them they felt one another’s deep-seated touch all the way down to their soul. Vincent made it all the way into Chantele’s cave, savoring the sensation he stopped.
Buried inside her, both of them breathing heavily he asked, “Who are you?”
Chantele's heart sank. She felt him inside of her and wanted to continue making love to him. He was the man she loved more than anyone or anything. She closed her eyes and took a centering breath, knowing it was time to tell her husband who she was.
“My name is Celina Fabrizio. I am the daughter of Katya and Anton Fabrizio and the granddaughter of Vladimir and Alina Sokolov.” Chantele recited.
“Pleased to meet you, Celina, I feel as we have been together before,” Vincent whispered, smiling.
Chantele felt the weight of the world lift from her shoulders, blushing, she smiled back at her lover. “Yes, I believe we may have. Please call me Chantele, Celina belongs in the past.”
Vincent held her closer and kissed her, pushing in and out again. Their rhythm slowly building the fervor between them. This was precisely what they needed, the closeness, the intimacy of their connection as they exploded together. Their hearts pounding as one, Vincent released his essence inside Chantele’s climaxing core. He stayed there inside her with his lips locked with hers, they remained joined above and below in the afterglow. He belonged to her, and her to him. Chantele was finally home.
Vincent held Chantele from behind as he slept. Comfortable under the thin sheets she still couldn’t quite relax enough to fall asleep. Instead, helplessly thinking of Nadya and Karina. They were still dying, and Celina was the only one who could save them.
