Janet looks at TJ and says, “Let’s give it another three days. By then you’ll be less swollen and feeling better.”
“What’s your plan TJ?”
“I want to kill those assholes that did this to me and wouldn’t even let me see my sister,” says TJ.
I see that TJ is frustrated and angry right now. I want to help TJ, but I can’t afford risking my life and my people without a proper plan.
“We need to do this casino attack the right way. Let’s prepare a plan and then go from there.”
TJ gives me a look of frustration.
Janet says, “That’s a good idea. We will get this done the right way.”
“We have a couple drones we can use to survey the area and see what we are up against. I say we use them to check out the casino first and gain some intel.”
“That’s a good idea, but I don’t want to take forever with this,” says TJ.
“Let’s plan on gaining intel tomorrow and then go from there. You can take whoever wants to go with you.”
“How about you?” asks TJ to me.
“I can’t.”
I show TJ and Janet my recovering leg wound.
“What happened?” asks Janet.
“The meeting with Jacob happened. I got stabbed by DK.”
TJ asks, “Where is Jacob now?”
“We don’t know. My team hasn’t been able to find Jacob or DK since the meeting. We found where Jacob was living, but he was gone before we got there.”
Janet says, “That’s not good. Not knowing where they are is a recipe for disaster.”
“I will find where they are and kill them myself.”
TJ says, “You help me with this, and I’ll help you kill Jacob and every last Conqueror.”
CHAPTER 2
NO MATTER WHAT
“We brought some more stuff back from Fisher Sporting Goods. Felix, James, and Hector are going back into St. Pete to check some new places out, and Matt and Shaun are going out looking for the bullet making ingredients,” says Phil to me as we stand in my garage looking at the map of Tampa Bay that Jon made for me.
“Good, that’s all good stuff. Things are still looking up for us around here.”
“Yeah, things are coming together. Jon and I are going with TJ to the casino today to check out the area and get some drone video,” says Phil.
“You be careful with that casino trip. TJ is in a state of anger still and wants blood. He might be only thinking about getting revenge on the people that beat him up. You and Jon be smart out there, don’t get caught up in a risky situation.”
“I will see what TJ wants to do and go from there. If his plan is too risky, then Jon and I will step away from it,” replies Phil.
I look at the map of Tampa Bay that is secured on my large cork board in my garage and see the markings and notes Jon wrote on it.
“We have barely scratched the surface around here. We still need to check out the football stadium, Ybor, the amusement park, Bayshore, and the other beach points. Not to mention the other areas just outside of Tampa Bay, like Pebble Springs.”
“Pebble Springs?” asks Phil.
I point to the map and say, “Yeah, it’s where they bottle the spring water around here. It’s pretty close by. We might need to check it out pretty soon. I’m worried about our tap water.”
“The water treatment plant probably isn’t working anymore. I think we should check that out at some point as well. Use your water filters more for drinking water,” says Phil.
“We will. I want to check out the water treatment plant, sewage treatment plant, and electric company buildings very soon.”
Bobby G walks into my garage through my open garage door and over to Phil and myself.
“What’s up dad?”
“Just seeing what you guys are up to,” answers Bobby G.
“We are planning our next move around here. We have so much to see still.”
Bobby G looks at the map of Tampa Bay and says, “Yeah. We have only seen a small section of the area around here. What did you guys come up with?”
Phil answers, “We have some plans in motion and a plan for the future. Always be ready.”
Phil says goodbye to me and Bobby G and walks across the street to Matt’s house.
Shaun and Chewie walk by Bobby G’s oak tree.
Chewie barks at something moving in the grass.
Shaun lets go of Chewie’s leash.
Chewie runs after a large lizard that was sitting in Bobby G’s front yard.
The large lizard runs up Bobby G’s oak tree and Chewie chases after him.
Chewie barks at the lizard and puts his front paws on the large oak tree trunk.
“He got away boy?” asks Shaun to Chewie.
Chewie looks back at Shaun and barks.
“Next time, you’ll get him,” says Shaun to Chewie.
I walk with Bobby G over to his driveway and next to his SUV.
Chewie runs over to me.
I pet Chewie on his head and back.
Shaun walks over to Bobby G and me.
“What’s up guys?” asks Shaun.
“Nothing much, just looking over the map of Tampa Bay and getting a game plan. Phil and I came up with some places we want to check out soon.”
Shaun says, “That’s cool. Matt and I are going to check out a couple places in about an hour. We want to start looking for the materials for the bullet recipe.”
“Any good leads on where to go?” asks Bobby G.
Chewie sits in a shaded spot in the grass of Bobby G’s front yard.
“We are going to check out the salvage yard and industrial complex first today,” replies Shaun.
“Take some totes, or boxes, or something to put the materials in. What vehicle are you taking?”
Shaun replies, “That’s a good idea. We should take some totes in case we find some powder or loose objects. We are taking the old blue truck. I don’t want to mess my jeep up.”
“You love that jeep.”
“Sure do. It’s a jeep thing, you wouldn’t understand,” jokes Shaun.
Matt and Phil exit Matt’s house.
“You ready or what?” shouts Matt to Shaun.
“I’ll be ready in ten minutes! I just have to take Chewie home and get my gear!” shouts Shaun across the street to Matt.
Shaun takes Chewie back home.
Matt walks over to Bobby G and me.
Phil walks back to his house.
“What’s up Matt?”
“Just going on a run with Shaun. We are starting to look for the bullet ingredients,” replies Matt.
“Good stuff. We are pretty set with weapons and bullets for now, but it’s a good idea to start the process of trying to make bullets.”
“Yeah, I’m sure it will be a process. None of us have made bullets before,” says Matt.
“How are our borders and walls holding up?”
Matt replies, “Good. I checked every square inch of this place, and the neighborhood is secure. Nothing dead or living should be able to get in here unless they fly in.”
“Good, the plan is to make this place our home base and eventually become self-sufficient in here. If you think we need to beef up security or add to the walls anywhere, we will. Just let me know.”
“I will. I think we are good for now, but I have some ideas about adding some tripwires and other security measures around the back of the neighborhood,” says Matt.
Shaun exits his house with his gear and walks over to the blue truck that he is using for the run with Matt today.
Shaun puts his gear and two bags in the back of the blue truck.
Shaun shouts to me, “I got some bags, but do you have any totes we can take with us?”
“Let me check, but I think so!”
Bobby G walks into his garage, I walk into my garage, and Matt walks over to Shaun.
I find two empty plastic storage totes, and I walk them over to Shaun.
Bobby G finds a plas
tic storage tote and walks it over to Matt.
We load the blue truck up with totes and bags as well as a couple boxes.
Matt and Shaun get into the blue truck.
Shaun starts up the blue truck.
Bobby G and I say goodbye to Matt and Shaun.
Shaun drives through the South entrance and exits the neighborhood.
Several hours go by.
Bobby G and I are organizing some of the goods from Fisher Sporting Goods that were put in Bobby G’s garage.
Jon and Phil come driving down the street and stop at Bobby G’s driveway.
“We are heading over to TJ’s house now,” says Jon to me from the passenger seat of the electric truck that Phil is driving.
I walk down Bobby G’s driveway and over to Jon and Phil.
“You be careful out there. I wish I was coming with you guys.”
“Next time. You heal up. We can’t have you at fifty percent during runs,” says Jon.
“We will get a plan together and gain some intel today. We will be back tonight,” says Phil.
I say goodbye to Phil and Jon and Phil exits the neighborhood through the South entrance.
“I think I’ll be up to going out tomorrow. We can get you a new SUV tomorrow,” I say to Bobby G as I walk into his garage.
Bobby G puts a box on top of another box and says, “Sounds good. Only if you are up for it though.”
I help Bobby G stack the remaining boxes in his garage and say, “I am. We will take it easy anyway. There are a couple dealerships close to here. Plus, you’ll protect me.”
Bobby G smiles and says, “Always, I’ll always be there for you my son, no matter what.”
“You sure you want another SUV? Why not a small electric car?”
“I need the SUV for my back. The smaller cars are hard to get in and out of. I need a tall SUV as it’s a lot easier to get in and out of.”
“How about we find you a hybrid?”
“That’ll work. As long as it’s easy for me to get in and out of,” replies Bobby G.
Phil pulls up to TJ’s house.
“We are only gaining intel and making a plan today. No matter what TJ wants to do,” says Phil to Jon.
Jon replies, “I agree. I want to see what we are up against at this casino.”
TJ exits his house.
“What’s up guys? You ready?” asks TJ.
Phil answers, “Yeah, whenever you are.”
TJ runs back into his house.
“He seems really eager for this,” says Jon.
Phil replies, “Yeah, we might have to calm him down. He might be too eager.”
Janet and TJ exit TJ’s house.
TJ locks the front door to his house.
Janet waves to Phil and Jon as she gets into TJ’s jeep.
TJ walks over to Phil and says, “Follow me, I’ll lead the way.”
Phil reverses out of TJ’s driveway.
TJ reverses out of his driveway and speeds down the road.
“Here we go,” says Phil as he tries to catch up to TJ.
Phil follows TJ down the highway.
The highway is open and has minimal debris on the northbound section near downtown Tampa.
Gunfire and small explosions are heard around downtown Tampa as Phil and TJ drive down the highway.
“It still sounds like a warzone downtown,” says Jon.
A helicopter flies towards one of the large high-rise buildings in downtown Tampa.
Jon watches as the helicopter, which is not a military helicopter, hovers above the large building downtown and then lands on the roof of the building.
“That helicopter just landed on top of that high-rise,” says Jon to Phil.
“Must be some VIP in there,” says Phil as he follows TJ down the highway.
The large multi-story parking garage of the Native American owned casino is seen in the distance.
Phil picks up his radio and asks, “TJ, where should we get off?”
TJ responds through his radio, “Let’s go right up to their front door and knock it down.”
Phil doesn’t know if TJ is joking and isn’t sure how to respond.
Phil sees an open dirt area that is fenced in along the highway and has a good view of the casino parking garage and property.
“Let’s get off here and park in the open field, away from the casino. We have our drone for this,” says Phil through his radio.
The exit for the open dirt area is coming up, but TJ isn’t getting off.
Phil pulls into the exit lane.
Phil looks at TJ’s jeep and isn’t sure why TJ isn’t getting off the exit.
Phil is about to call TJ on his radio.
Suddenly, TJ’s jeep turns off the highway and TJ drives towards the open dirt field.
Phil and TJ park their vehicles in the open dirt field across from the casino.
Phil and Jon look out their electric truck windows and make sure the area is clear.
TJ exits his jeep and comes over to Phil.
“It’s safe,” says TJ as he looks at Phil through Phil’s driver side window.
Phil and Jon exit the electric truck.
Janet looks around the area and checks for any threats as she stands next to TJ’s passenger side door.
The open dirt field across from the casino is clear of any immediate danger, but there is a small group of zombies far away from Phil and TJ’s vehicles.
Jon sets up his drone while Phil grabs his binoculars.
TJ impatiently watches Jon set up the drone.
Phil feels TJ’s edginess and that annoys Phil.
“What’s up TJ?” asks Phil.
TJ answers, “Just trying to get this thing going.”
Phil walks over to Jon and TJ.
Jon checks his drone and his remote control for the drone.
TJ says, “Come on Jon. Let’s get going here.”
Phil looks at TJ and with a stern voice says, “Take your time Jon. Set it up right, we want this done right.”
TJ looks at Phil and asks, “Do we have a problem Phil?”
“I don’t know, do we?” asks Phil to TJ.
Jon says, “We are ready to go.”
Phil tells Jon to wait a second.
Phil looks at TJ and says, “We are here for you. We are here to help you. No matter what we see with the drone, we aren’t doing anything until we have a plan. A good plan. I’m not risking my life and Jon’s life without a reasonable plan.”
TJ says, “I understand, I’m just ready to get my sister back. The people in that casino almost killed me. I’m not going to just let them get away with that.”
“I’m not either. We are here for you, remember that,” says Phil.
Phil signals for Jon to start up the drone.
Jon let’s the drone fly and starts recording.
Jon flies the drone from the open dirt field, across the highway, and towards the casino parking garage.
TJ steps closer to Jon.
Phil looks through his binoculars across the highway and at the casino main building.
“I’d go as high as you can to avoid being spotted,” says TJ to Jon.
Jon flies the drone higher and slowly scans the area with the drone camera.
“The top floor of the parking garage is clear. I’m going to fly over the main building and around the property now,” says Jon as he looks down at the video display on the drone remote control.
Phil walks over to Janet.
“What can you tell me about the casino?” asks Phil to Janet.
Janet replies, “We parked in the casino parking garage, which was clear of zombies. We started to walk towards the main building of the casino, but we were stopped by a large group of Native Americans.”
“How many were there and what weapons did they have?” asks Phil to Janet.
“They had tomahawks, machetes, daggers, and bow and arrows,” answers Janet.
“Really?” asks Phil.
“No,” repli
es Janet.
Janet laughs and says, “They had assault rifles, handguns, blades, machine guns, and smaller weapons. There were about twenty of them.”
“I wasn’t sure what to expect. You think Indians, and you think of them riding horses and having their faces painted,” says Phil.
“I’m sure people think that, but these Indians have tons of money. They have been connected with the casino rights since the government and the tribes settled their lawsuits years ago. These Indians are rich and have tons of toys,” says Janet.
Phil asks, “Is it Indians or Native Americans?”
Janet answers, “Both. Indians is the old term, but Native Americans is the new PC term.”
Jon looks at the video display on his drone remote control and says, “There is a courtyard with people in it. A lot of people are there. They must have power as I see automatic doors opening and closing.”
“Stop right there. Zoom in on that person right there,” says TJ to Jon as TJ watches the video display on the drone remote control.
Jon stops the drone, puts the drone in hover, and zooms the drone camera on the person TJ asked to focus on.
The drone camera slowly zooms in on a woman.
TJ sees the woman’s face.
“That’s her, that’s my sister Alice,” says TJ.
BANG!
A male Native American fires a shot at the drone.
“Shit! We have been spotted!” shouts Jon.
Phil runs over to Jon.
“What happened?” asks Phil.
Jon replies, “They spotted the drone and shot at it.”
“Bring the drone back here now,” says Phil.
Jon tries to fly the drone to safety.
BANG!
BANG!
“Are they trying to shoot it down?” asks Janet.
Jon flies the drone higher in the sky and shouts, “Yeah, they don’t like us spying on them I guess!”
Janet sees that several trucks have pulled up to the top floor of the casino parking garage.
“We have a problem guys!” shouts Janet.
Jon frantically flies the drone towards the parking garage of the casino.
Several Native Americans watch the drone fly towards them and take aim at the drone.
Janet, Phil, and TJ look through their rifle scopes and see a group of Native Americans at the casino parking garage aiming their guns at them.
