I exit my house and make my way over to Bobby G’s driveway.
Bobby G is working on his old SUV again.
“Again, with this?”
“Yeah, I think I got it this time,” replies Bobby G.
“Dinner is almost ready. We eat in five.”
“Okay. I’ll go wash my hands and get a bottle of wine,” replies Bobby G.
Bobby G walks into his house.
I look at Bobby G’s garage and his old SUV.
“It’s hard to let things go I guess,” I say as I look at the engine of Bobby G’s old SUV.
I turn around and look at the oak tree in Bobby G’s front yard.
I look down the street and glance at the South entrance.
Brody is talking with Kevin as they stand on the lookout platform.
“We need to put a cover on the lookout platforms to block the sun,” says Matt as he walks over to me.
“What’s up Matt?”
“Nothing much, just taking a walk around the neighborhood. I try to check out the walls and borders once a week now,” replies Matt.
“Very good. I appreciate that. Any place where we can expand our borders?”
Matt looks at a house across the street from Bobby G’s house and asks, “I’ll have to see, what are you thinking?”
“Just some way to expand our walls, our space, and our land. I have some ideas brewing about how to improve our community.”
“We got a nice place here though. A nice settlement, but I’ll see what we can do,” replies Matt.
“We do, we definitely have a nice settlement here.”
Bobby G comes out of his house with a bottle of wine.
“I got a good bottle for tonight,” says Bobby G.
“I’ll let you go. I’ll see you later,” says Matt.
“See you later.”
Matt walks down the street and towards the South entrance.
Bobby G enters my house.
I hear something in the distance.
The object I hear is up in the sky.
I look up in the sky and see something flying.
The flying object is hard to make out.
I stare at the flying object, but the sun makes it difficult for me to look at the flying object for too long.
The flying object gets bigger as it moves towards my direction.
I realize what the flying object is and quickly take cover next to the oak tree in Bobby G’s front yard.
The slight buzzing of the flying object is heard as it flies towards the oak tree I’m standing next to.
I stare up into the sky and look for the flying object as I stay hidden next to the oak tree in Bobby G’s front yard.
The flying object comes into my view as it passes over the oak tree.
I make sure the flying object is out of sight before I leave my position under the oak tree.
The flying object is gone, and I don’t know what to do. Should I go inside and tell Bobby G and Lauren or gather everyone and tell them what I saw?
I decide to go over to Shaun’s house and tell Shaun.
KNOCK! KNOCK!
I knock on Shaun’s front door.
Shaun answers the door.
“We got a problem.”
“What is it?” asks Shaun.
“I just saw that white military attack drone.”
“Where?” asks Shaun.
Shaun walks out onto his front yard.
I look up into the sky with Shaun.
I point into the sky and say, “It was there, it just flew over our community. I hid under the oak tree until it flew away.”
Shaun and I continue to look for the white military attack drone in the sky, but it’s gone now.
“That’s not good. If that’s DK’s drone, then we got a problem. A big problem,” says Shaun.
“Let’s get everyone together for a meeting. We need to warn everyone now. Go tell Phil and Jon. I’ll go tell Lauren, Bobby G, and everyone around the South entrance.”
Shaun goes back inside his house to talk with Lisa.
Lisa is talking to someone on the radio.
Shaun overhears a woman reply to Lisa over the radio.
I run across the street towards my house.
Shaun runs back outside and shouts, “Ryan! Kat is on the radio!”
I stop running and turn around.
“What does she want?”
“You need to take this!” shouts Shaun.
I run back over to Shaun’s house.
Shaun hands me his radio.
“Yes Kat?” I ask over the radio.
“Do you know a Jacob and a DK?” asks Kat over the radio.
“Yeah. Why?” I ask over the radio.
Kat replies over the radio in a quieter tone of voice, “Because they are here. They are the new group that has been causing all the problems here.”
“Are you serious?” I ask over the radio.
Kat’s radio suddenly goes out and there is only static on the radio now.
“Kat? Are you there? Kat?” I ask over the radio.
There is no response from Kat.
I feel a great sense of concern for Kat’s safety and fear that Jacob may have done something to her.
I anxiously say into the radio, “Kat? You need to get out of there. Jacob and DK are not to be trusted.”
No answer from Kat.
Static is still only heard on the radio.
I hand Shaun back his radio.
“We are having a meeting in one hour. Tell everyone to meet at my house in one hour and keep trying to reach Kat.”
Shaun gets into the electric truck and drives towards Phil’s house.
I run across the street and enter my house.
“We got a problem. We are having a community meeting in one hour,” I say to Bobby G, Lauren, and Fran as I walk over to my dining room table.
