Area 4 – NYC Underworld
Chapter 11
Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Trouble
After escaping the hotel with his life and that of Jane’s he has Jane drop him off at the docks by the east river where the black market was hot and many illegal dealers were trying to make a name for themselves. It was starting to rain and thunder is heard then the rain begins to fall at a steady pace. Basically a normal night at the east river docks where illegal activity was at its prime. The dock was also home to a huge black market whether it was weapons, drugs or even plutonium. Jane was heading to Angel’s personal cabin for safe hiding, so Angel was going to be solo for this mission. When Angel gets to the docks he immediately sees Slugs in a meeting that is finishing up. So he hurries to catch him and once he sees Slugs he asks him a question…
Angel asks Slugs “Hey Slugs you mind if I ask you some questions?”
Slugs gives Angel no answer and immediately runs inside locking the huge wooden door. Then Slugs pulls the alarm and then several men in rain coats start to attack Angel. Some of them are armed with .50AE pistols others with MAC 11’s Angel makes quick work of the men. Angel then sees a red laser pointing towards him indicating he is being targeted by a sniper. He moves as fast as he can to get away from the range of the sniper. Angel finds a sniper rifle of his own, kneels down a box and when he has the target in his crosshairs he shoots the sniper down.
Angel says in his head, “Slugs probably has something to hide if he ran away from me that fast. Probably still thinks I’m part of the force or doesn’t want me inside. This switch should open the door.”
Angel finds a switch which opens the wooden door and finds more of Slugs henchmen coming out. Angel uses the flammable canisters to his advantage by shooting them and blowing up the henchmen. Angel then enters the warehouse getting out of the rain, where the common illegal goods could be found such as guns, stolen goods and drugs but no plutonium at least Angel doesn’t see any. More henchmen come out from the lower level and above as well. Angel finds himself in a good old warehouse firefight. Angel shoots a few of the henchmen until he sees a small crane that he could use to knock off the men on the upper levels. Angel quickly moves to the crane’s controls to the left side of the warehouse and moves the crane to bash onto where the henchmen were standing on in the upper level.
Angel says, “Well that will do some damage to this illegal warehouse, time to close this joint down!” After Angel takes care of all of the men he walks towards the door leading back outside. Angel sees a whole bunch of boats in the area that look like they were prepared to take off for a delivery.
“It’s time to put a stop order on these deliveries. There’s no need for these criminals to get their hands on any guns or drugs.”
Angel sees more henchmen armed with AK-47 rifles as he heads back into the rain. He dives to his right while shooting the henchmen down. As Angel moves on the same red laser is on him again and Angel runs away from the laser coming from the sniper rifle. This time though Angel has no idea where the sniper is located, however he does find some bombs that he could use to take the boats out. The problem is Angel is not comfortable with putting bombs knowing there is a sniper waiting for him to come out.
So what Angel does instead is use his sniper rifle to search for the sniper and eventually he finds the sniper on a sentry tower. Angel shoots the sniper forcing the sniper to fall to his death.
“I knew that sniper training would pay off some time. There’s one pin down, many more to go!”
Angel begins to plant the bombs onto the boats and detonates them all three boats go up in flames.
“This is any kingpin’s nightmare watching his good go up in smoke, but he had it coming to him. If there is plutonium inside the boats oh well!”
More of Slugs henchmen approach Angel after witnessing the boats being destroyed. Angel shoots the henchmen with ease and grabs a key leading inside to another warehouse. Angel uses the key to enter another warehouse where he sees meat hanging indicating a meat packing industry. He sees more henchmen who he kills and then more come out. Angel turns on the big fan in the meatpacking warehouse and the wind from the fan pushes the men into the meat crushers crushing the men into pieces. The warehouse walls are covered in blood, gore and body parts of the dead/decapitated henchmen. Some of the blood even gets on Angel and his shirt.
Angel heads back outside where he sees an empty dock with no boats and a ramp leading down to a big building that Angel needs to go investigate. He grabs one of the henchmen and throws him into the shark infested waters. The other henchman gets pushed into a prop swordfish which impales him through the heart. Angel shoots the rest of the henchmen. More henchmen come out after Angel, but they are all shot from behind by no other than Dayvon to Angel’s shock.
“Dayvon is that you I don’t believe it. Wait a minute now how can I trust you?” Angel holds his gun nervously and he is in shocked. It was like his prayers were answered, all he wanted was the trust of his friends. It had to begin somewhere and it would start with Dayvon.
“No need to get excited Angel I always knew you didn’t kill Frank Kelly you were with me that night it happened. Excuse the message I left on your phone, I was blind to the truth. Besides I was with you in the virtual world the first time so I know these alien bastards are capable of cloning us, I just never knew they could send them to Earth.”
“I really don’t think it’s the gloobas and if it is they’re behind the scenes this time. Scientists have gotten very greedy in knowledge with this virtual world and have discovered ways to interconnect the worlds together. Besides I think I know what the scoop is. Mayor Williams is trying to get Jane whacked so he can become mayor again and I found a supply of plutonium under the prison. Now why is that substance under the prison so conveniently I find very suspicious. That construction site I was investigating I think was nothing but a front for all of these illegal activity and that’s why Robert was whacked.”
“Sounds crazy but I never liked Mayor Williams and I don’t think you can really trust your uncle neither. That CES squad of his is nothing by a waste of money and Carlos isn’t necessary an honest dude neither. Besides the Elder God gave me a good prep talk telling me what was is going on, I can’t speak for the others however.” Dayvon warns Angel.
“You’re right Carlos is on my ass but whether that’s because he’s doing his job or if he wants me out of the picture remains to be seen. As for the others I hope they wake up and smell the coffee because we could all be the targets of this corrupt Mayor and his minions.” Angel says in great concern.
Dense fog begins to surround the docks with only the lights of the overhead lamps providing them any visibility. When it seemed Angel had it all figured out, the fog comes and covers everything again. What could the fog be covering? More of the raincoat baddies come out to attack the duo.
“Man those raincoats are so outdated, you guys look like a bunch of perverts!” Dayvon talks down about the green raincoats the henchmen were wearing. Dayvon did not have a raincoat either. He had a pair of army styles pants and a black v-neck t-shirt. The duo was absolutely getting wet in the rain.
Together Angel and Dayvon take out the henchmen. The duo proceeds down the ramp but they have to be careful as some of the boards are broken. Dayvon steps on a broken board and nearly falls into the water which is beginning to pick up in wave activity. Luckily for Dayvon Angel is able to grab him before he falls into the water. Angel pulls Dayvon up back to the surface just in time before a hungry shark came to grab itself a midnight snack. The duo prepares to enter the next building.
Out of nowhere Dayvon comes to save Angel and assists him in killing the henchmen that had surrounded Angel. Angel gives Dayvon his thanks and while Dayvon tells Angel he is on his side Angel still has his suspicions that this could all be a setup. Angel would have to watch his back carefully but Angel didn’t have many allies so he had to give Dayvon his trust. What else was this dock hiding from Angel?
Angel and Dayvon are able to fight through the heavy dense fog and get inside the building. Once inside the duo finds yet another storage room full of illegal goods stored in boxes and more henchmen in yellow raincoats to take out. Angel and Dayvon carefully shoot the henchman one by one until the room is clear. However above Dayvon a worker was trying to push a heavy metal box to crush Dayvon. Angel is able to push Dayvon out of the way before the box hits the floor. Angel shoots the worker causing him to fall onto the same box he was pushing.
Angel says “What goes around comes around! There’s still no sign of Slugs around though, he could be anywhere in this damn area.”
“Well standing here won’t do anything lets go!” Dayvon catches his breath after a near-death experience.
The duo goes outside to a gate area with yet even more boxes along with a forklift. Slugs’s henchmen come out after the duo. Angel and Dayvon each grab a man uses them as human shields then shoots the rest of the men clearing the room. A loud noise is heard, it is one of helicopters similar to the one Angel saw in the cemetery and the men with the masks of reptiles were back after Angel.
Angel says in a disgusted tone, “Oh man these freaks again with these stupid masks who in the hell are these freaks?”
“Well these guys look like glooba wannabes. That’s just them trying to scare us, but you’re right, why wear reptile masks?”
Dayvon sees the forklift and decides to start it up begins to drive it right towards the men in masks. The men try to get out of the way of the forklift in fact some of them even jump into the water choosing to die underwater rather than get hit by a forklift. Dayvon jumps over a box to tackle a one of the glooba wannabes attacking Angel punching him to death. The duo finds the key to open the gate leading them to a helipad and once again the helicopter attacks the duo. Angel and Dayvon run for cover which comes at a premium as there are a small amount of possible hiding spots. Angel uses the sniper rifle to take out the baddie manning the sentry gun on the helicopter. The helicopter then leaves and our heroes are free to go inside yet another building. However this one contained not only an army of bad guys but also a supply of plutonium.
“My suspicions are proven that plutonium has become a rather hot commodity, but I remember the gloobas were the ones to benefit the most. These guys might be working for the gloobas on the down low in exchange for power. I starting to smell a rat and it don’t smell good at all!” Angel says after his suspicions were proven true.
Dayvon and Angel shoot and kill the henchmen that come their way while they find nothing special where they are now they do see a door leading to a lower level. The duo heads for the lower level where the temperature begins to lower significantly as they were heading to a freezer or an area where the goods had to be kept in lower temperatures. Angel asks himself what could possibly need to be stored in low temperatures. As Angel and Dayvon enter the next room they see more henchmen along with a climate control system to keep the area cool. Angel tries to run but slips and falls as the floor is slippery. One of the henchmen try to grab Angel but he uses his right leg to kick him up then shoots him while he is in midair. Dayvon uses the slippery terrain to his advantage by slipping and consolidating his body like a ball to knock down the other henchmen.
The duo sees a couple of boots that will make them resistant to slipping on the slippery terrain. They proceed through the next door into a hallway where a few henchmen are. The duo takes care of them easily. Dayvon and Angel are shocked at what they see in the next room. The room contains capsules of creatures that our heroes fought in their previous adventure some poisonpus’s, poison ivy’s and an experimental turtle like creature. The two were in shocked, Angel almost went into shock. The same creatures that our heroes defeated were back and several of the creatures were experimental new creatures that the duo has never faced before.
Angel says in shock, “Son of a bitch that’s what Slug’s was hiding. It looks like in exchange for money these bastards are raising a glooba army. This story just got twisted in a big way!”
“Man this threw me off completely now I have no idea if these guys are working for the gloobas or they are gloobas disguised as humans?” Dayvon trying to piece together as he reloaded his gun, before the duo could talk anymore the capsules begin to break and the creatures break out.
Angel says in a normal sarcastic tone, “Well well if it isn’t our old friends I got the weird plant here you take on eight legs there.”
“Well of course I get to fight the poisonpus, he’s just my nemesis. Ok you octo freak of nature, take you best shot!” Dayvon was always finding himself fighting the poisonpus since the first adventure.
Angel dodges the vines of the poison ivy while Dayvon is dodging tentacles and poison ink from the poisonpus. Angel throws a canister into the poison ivy’s mouth and shoots it causing the creature to burn to a crisp. The poisonpus grabs Dayvon with it’s tentacles but Angel is able to shoot the poisonpus in the weak spot killing it instantly. Angel and Dayvon could not celebrate yet because there was still the matter of the turtle creature with a hard shell in its back. Despite it being just experimental it puts up a good fight with its strong claw attack and strong tail whip attack. The turtle like creature gives the duo some serious trouble knocking Dayvon to the floor, Angel tries to shoot it but the armor on the creature is too strong. The creature retracts into its shell and begins to roll around destroying the pipes and everything it touches.
Angel is able to jump onto an elevated pipe above him and dodge the rolling shell attack. After a few seconds the creature comes out of its shell and Angel shoot’s the creature in its head seeing a weak spot. The turtle goes down face first; Angel goes and checks out Dayvon asking him if he is ok Dayvon responds yes to Angel. Angel takes pictures of the facility on his phone as evidence of what was really going on and he had taken pictures of the plutonium in the facility.
The duo regains their equilibrium and then move into the next room where they see frozen meat such as pig, cow and fish nothing out of the ordinary. Angel and Dayvon see Slugs but not in the condition they wanted to see him. Slugs was found on a huge ice cube hanging with harpoons shot at him. The ice cube was as red as a rose, only this scene was so rosy.
Angel says in an angry tone, “Shit Slugs is dead who keeps killing my damn leads? Son of a bitch this must be some really serious business if I’m having a hard time getting anybody to talk.”
“Ahhhh damn it…” Dayvon agonizes in pain after being shot with a harpoon in the neck area. This is no use of Angel trying to save Dayvon, the harpoon kills him instantly. Angel gets next to Dayvon trying to see if there is anything he could do to save him. However as Angel is holding him, Dayvon is losing too much blood and dies on Angel’s arm. Angel grabs his phone to call 911, but remembers that the police are after him. Angel can only watch as the floor begins into crimson red and Dayvon’s body lies lifeless with the harpoon stuck in his neck.
Angel angrily says, “Dayvon no you can’t die on me! Whoever shot Dayvon show yourself, like a real man!” The man who shot Dayvon calmly walks in armed with a harpoon introduces himself as Swordfish. Swordfish was a husky man with a fisherman’s outfit and a beanie hat. He also carried a harpoon and a rotten smell of fish.
Swordfish says with an evil grin, “Aww I’m sorry about your friend, but he was catch of the day if you catch my drift.”
“Yeah I catch your drift takes a real man to kill somebody in the back, but I forgot you’re a criminal and you don’t ever play fair looks like you been in the water for too long anyway. Why did you kill Slugs?”
“Slugs was too much of a pussy he was going to spill the beans soon and besides I could have used the promotion myself. Well at least you’re smart enough to know that I play dirty literally and figuratively! Why not give yourself up or will I catch two big fish on the same day!”
“I’m not surprised you look like a crooked bastard anyway. Well you got the bait now see if you can catch the fish, come and get me if you can!”
Swordfish shoots a harpoon at Angel missing him and hitting the ice instead. Angel moves around the room to avoid being hit by a harpoon. He manages to get a few shots in but Swordfish is heavily armored.
“Angel where are you? Come out come out wherever you are there’s no escaping me!”
Angel throws a bucket of ice at Swordfish knocking him out, but only for a few seconds.
Swordfish says “Oh sneaky fish aren’t you, time to put you in your place!”
“Try me I don’t go down easily.”
Angel grabs a fish and while Swordfish shoots another harpoon Angel uses the big flounder to cover him preventing the harpoon from reaching him. Angel pushes the cows and pigs that were hanging towards Swordfish to disorient him. Angel finds a shotgun and shoots Swordfish, but still Swordfish is alive while Angel pumps the shotgun to shoot again. Swordfish uses a rope to grab Angel by the legs and pulls him.
Swordfish says “Well well looks like you’re the new catch of the day hehehe.”
“Well think again!”
Angel blasts Swordfish with the shotgun killing him. The only problem remaining was that Angel’s legs were tied up. To add to that Angel was poisoned he had been infected with a small amount of toxins after being exposed to poison ivy’s spit. Angel falls unconscious until a mysterious person picks him up.
As Angel explores more of the dock he finds many more disturbing discoveries. He discovers that Slugs was experimenting in creating a glooba army and had a horde of plutonium which all of a sudden became a hot commodity. More disturbing however, is the fact that the experimental creatures were actually living. Angel and Dayvon found themselves fighting the creatures, the duo survives the ordeal in killing the creatures. When the duo reaches the meat storage area they find Slugs is already dead in cold blood hanging on an ice cube, so Angel could cross that lead off the list. However he could cross off Dayvon as an ally as he is ambushed from behind with a harpoon by a man known as Swordfish. Angel uses some quick thinking to overcome Swordfish, but he finds himself tied up and poisoned from the spit of the poison ivy. Angel is picked up by a mysterious person. Who is the mysterious character that picks Angel up and is that person on the good side or the bad side?
