Goth Girl Page 14

by Melanie Mosher

Finally, I gathered my courage and sent the manuscript to Nimbus Publishing. It made its way out of the slush pile and onto senior editor Whitney Moran’s desk. Although she liked the story and the characters, it was not ready for publication. She gave me some guidance and offered a critique, with no guarantee that she would accept it. I jumped at the chance. With her advice—and later, Emily MacKinnon’s wonderful editing skills—Goth Girl became a book.

I also want to thank my husband, Jim, and my two daughters, Jill and Sam. They have always encouraged me to write and have listened to countless stories over the years. My girls are the two most tolerant, open-minded people I know. I have learned many lessons from them, the least of which is acceptance. This was the driving force behind this book. I learned to love Vic Markham and Goth Girl. I hope you do, too.
