The Italian Tycoon's Bride Page 17

by Brooks, Helen

‘She has given me Humphrey?’ Maisie raised shining eyes to those of her husband.

Blaine nodded. ‘But the arrangement is she is keeping him until we get back from honeymoon.’ They were leaving for the Caribbean for a month’s honeymoon the day after Boxing Day.

‘Oh, Blaine.’ Maisie wanted to cry with sheer happiness. Humphrey was such a special little dog and now he was hers.

‘I know.’ Blaine grinned at her. ‘All this—me, roses round the door and now Humphrey too.’

She didn’t mind that he was teasing her, not when he looked at her like he was looking at her now. She reached over Humphrey’s furry head and kissed Blaine hard on the mouth. ‘This is the best Christmas ever, Signor Morosini,’ she murmured. ‘And I love you more than words can say.’

‘And you are the most beautiful bride ever, Signora Morosini, and I intend to show you how much I love you over and over again all night,’ he said softly, his voice smoky with desire.

‘Good.’ There was no shyness in her brown eyes as she smiled at him, only a deep longing for the time when they would be alone in their big bed and she would finally be joined to him in body as well as heart and soul and mind. ‘I’ve waited a long time for this, you know!’

‘I do know.’ Suddenly all the laughter was gone from his dark face. ‘And I do not know what I have done to deserve you, my precious, sweet, honest, funny, beautiful Maisie. But I will spend the rest of my life making you happy. Do you believe this?’

‘Of course I believe it.’ And she did with all her heart. They had come through deep waters, they had weathered the storm and now love was at the helm.

It didn’t get any better than that.
