She clenched her fingers together and grinned. “From my dad. I got bored packing and made a little side trip.”
Chad chuckled. “You went all the way to New Orleans? Why didn’t you just stay there?”
Nadia stepped close to him. Her arms found their way around him, and her eyes met his. “Because you wanted me to ride with you, and I was looking forward to it.”
He shook his head pulling her closer and said, “You’re a good wife.”
She grinned and said, “I know. That’s what everybody keeps telling me.”

ONE WILD AND CRAZY NIGHT
Randi occupied the table in the front of Vampyr next to the bar. She looked up from her laptop to see what was going on outside. The rain had ended, and tourists and locals strolled along the pedestrian walkway.
Someone in a minion costume stood on the opposite side of the street. A street preacher attempted to convert a group of drag queens passing by while a ballerina in a pink tutu danced her way past Vampyr on her toes. Randi shook her head. This is why we vampires blend in so well here.
Rock Music spilled from the jukebox. Quinn came in from the back and sat next to her.
Randi looked at him and smiled. “How was your visit with Nadia?”
“Productive. Nadia was dreaming a little too big for a vampire. I had to bring her back to earth.” He noticed her eyes settling on a mortal couple sitting at the bar. The girl was striking with long red hair and bright green eyes. The sundress she was wearing emphasized her large breasts and slim waist.
Randi could hear the conversation she was having with a regular patron named Jason. She nudged Quinn to eavesdrop.
“Do you come here often?” asked the girl at the bar.
“Almost every day,” said Jason. “I don’t recall ever seeing you before. Local or tourist?”
“Neither. I’m here on business.”
“Oh, so what brings you to Vampyr?”
“Curiosity.” She leaned in close to him and said, “I’ve heard this is a vampire bar, and I’ve heard stories of vampires drinking blood from mortals in the alley.”
“That’s crazy,” said Jason, laughing. “Those rumors got started because one of the so-called ‘vampire bars’ is located next to our resort. There’s a lot of mystery surrounding New Orleans, and people come here hoping to have some kind of paranormal adventure, so the timeshare salespeople made up those stories to entice people to spend their money.”
She frowned and shook her head. “Is that a fact? Well, to what lengths people won’t go to make a buck.”
“Yep, we get all the credit,” said Jason with an egotistical grin.
If Jason wants to believe the stories of vampires are his doing, she certainly wasn’t going to burst his bubble. She looked at him with her eyes opened wide. “Wouldn’t if be fun if vampires were real and they did drink blood from people without killing them. I think it would be fun to be a vampire.”
“Each to his own,” said Jason. “Will I see you here again?” He motioned to the bartender for his tab.
“I’ll be around for a couple of weeks.”
“Well. It was a pleasure chatting with you, ma’am. I have to go now. I have a wife waiting at home.” He signed the credit card slip, pulled his copy and left the merchant copy on the bar with the pen.
“Figures. See you later then.”
“Later,” he said with a wink.”
“Don’t hold your breath,” mumbled the girl at the bar.
Randi and Quinn looked at each other recalling their earlier discussion about adding a little spice to their hunt.
“Did you hear that?” she asked.
“I did,” he said, wondering what was going on in his wife’s mind.
“What do you think? She’s obviously vampire friendly,” said Randi playing with her hair.
Quinn noticed her pretty face, long silky red hair, perfect breasts, and drop-dead body. He raised his brows and said, “She’s hot, babe. Honey, are you sure you want to do this? We don’t have to. It’s your call.”
The corners of her lips turned up. “Yes.”
He placed his hand over hers and said, “I love you. I don’t want you to do this because you think it’s what I want. I only want you to do it if it’s what you want. It doesn’t matter to me either way.”
She smiled and rested her other hand on his. “It is what I want. I want to experience this with you.”
He shook his head and smiled at her. “Then go for it.”
She winked at Quinn as she got up from the table and stepped behind the bar. Quinn got up and took a seat at the bar three stools down from the stunning redhead. The girl noticed him and looked his way flashing him a flirty smile. She was aware of his bedroom eyes grazing over her.
Randi eased her way over to her and said, “Hi, I’m Randi.”
The girl sipped her drink. Her smoky green eyes looked up, and she smiled. “Hello, Randi, I’m Riley.”
“Local or tourist?” asked Randi.
“Business. I’m an artist, and I’m here for the unveiling of a painting.” Riley glanced over at Quinn subtly licking her full glossed lips. She turned back to Randi and motioned to Quinn. “What a hottie.”
“Yes, he is,” said Randi with a smile. “That’s one of the many reasons I married him.”
Shit, thought Riley biting her lower lip. She shrugged her shoulders and attempted to laugh. “Oh, no. I’m sorry. Isn’t that always the way. The hot ones are always taken or gay.”
Randi laughed and said, “His name is Quinn. He owns the place. Since you can’t have my man, how about another drink? It’s on the house.”
“Sure. Thanks, Randi.”
Randi made her a fresh vodka martini and set it in front of her.
Riley sipped and raised her glass with a smile. “This is great, Randi. You’re quite a mixologist.”
“Thank you.” Randi leaned in close to Riley and whispered, “Are you planning to scout the alley tonight for a vampire to feast on your blood?”
Riley looked at her wondering why she would ask such a question. Unaware Randi was using her preternatural power of hypnosis on her to get the truth; she said, “If I thought those rumors were true, I probably would.”
Her words were music to Randi’s ears. She reached out and touched Riley’s hand. Her bright blue eyes sparkled as she said, “You know they’re true, don’t you?”
Riley realized Randi’s body temperature was way below normal for a human, and her mind began to make a connection. She looked into her eyes and asked, “Is your husband as cold as you are?”
“Even colder,” said Randi moving in closer. “You know what warms us. If you’re interested in making a donation, I don’t mind sharing my hot husband, but it’s a one-time thing, and I have to be there. It’s our rules.”
Riley smiled at Randi before focusing on Quinn. She shifted her eyes back to Randi. “For a taste of that, I’d agree to just about anything.”
Randi motioned to Quinn. He got up from his stool and joined them. Randi introduced them.
Quinn pulled his stool closer to Riley and sat allowing his arm to brush against hers sending sparks throughout her body.
“Did I hear you say you’re an artist?” asked Quinn.
Riley sipped her martini and swallowed. “Yes, you did. I paint abstract erotica,” she said in a low voice with a seductive smile.
He nodded looking at her out of the corner of his eye. “Sounds intriguing.”
Riley pointed to the front door. “Ah, I noticed when I came in that there’s an apartment for lease on the third floor. I was just wondering what it rents for a month? Do you know who owns it?”
“I do,” said Quinn. “I own the building. I’m asking $2,700.00 a month for it. It’s 1,400 square feet. It comes completely furnished with a living room, dining room, one bathroom, a guest room, and a spacious, cozy master bedroom.”
She tilted her head and smiled. “Really. I’ve never seen a French Quarter apart
ment. I’d love to see one.” She leaned in close to him twirling her hair and whispered, “Especially that spacious, cozy master bedroom.”
He flashed a suggestive smile making eye contact with her and said, “Then tonight is your lucky night.”
They got up and walked toward the back of the bar to the stairs. When they passed Quinn’s office, Randi suddenly stepped inside and pulled Quinn in behind her. “We’ll just be a moment,” she said grinning. “There’s one little thing we have to take care of first.” She closed the door.
Oh shit, thought Riley. I hope she isn’t having second thoughts.
Randi grabbed some condoms from Quinn’s desk drawer and stuffed them in his pocket. She looked at him and said, “Remember our agreement, Quinn. We can both have sex with a human, but the rules are, even though we’re vampires, there must always be a shield between us and the human, and the male must always finish on the outside.”
He looked at his wife playfully. “So many rules.”
“Yes, well, my darling, be happy I’m willing to play.”
Randi smiled as she and Quinn stepped outside. Quinn closed the office door and led the way to the apartment. He pulled the key from his pocket, unlocked the door, and allowed the ladies to enter first before closing and carefully locking it.
Riley looked all around impressed. “This is breathtakingly beautiful. From the outside, I wouldn’t have pictured it to look anything like this. It’s so modern and luxurious.” With the curtains drawn back, she could see Bourbon Street below. “What a cool view.”
“Just about all of the French Quarter apartments have been renovated and modernized. The one on the second floor is just like this one. It was home to me for many years. I loved it,” said Quinn.
“I can’t imagine why you would move,” said Riley.
“The need for more space was the only reason. I have a home uptown, so that’s where we live now.”
Randi looked around reminiscing. “I lived in this apartment for a short time. Then I married Quinn. He had tenants for a little while, but now it’s vacant again.”
The three of them entered the bedroom, and he closed the door. Randi smiled wasting no time. She lifted her dress sliding it over her head before slipping out of her undergarments.
Riley was impressed with Randi wearing only her high heels. “You have the perfect fit and toned beach body on down to the tan.”
Randi smiled and stepped close to Quinn. She unbuttoned his shirt and unzipped him stripping him down to his underwear. She stood behind him and slid down his briefs, and he stepped out of them.
Riley found him quite impressive. Feeling a bolt of electricity rippling through her body at the sight of him naked, she slowly dropped her sundress to the floor followed by her push-up bra and tiny lace panties.
She’s even hotter naked, thought Quinn, admiring her large perky breasts and Brazilian wax. He wondered why his wife picked such a hot one for him. He certainly had no problem getting into the mood.
Quinn sat on the side of the bed and Riley joined him. Randi knelt in front of him removing a condom from its wrapper and placed it on him making sure it was secure. She sat next to him on the bed. Quinn turned to Randi; their lips joined in a heated kiss. He withdrew and turned to face Riley. His mouth found hers and their tongues danced sending a tingling sensation throughout her body as they dropped down on the bed.
Clearly, she likes being bitten, thought Quinn, lying next to her, caressing and fondling her breasts; teasing her nipples. He slowly glided his hand down to her inner thighs. She moaned arching her back as his fingers moved upward massaging her in just the right spot giving her intense pleasure.
Riley glanced over at Randi as if in an attempt to see if she was still okay with her husband touching her like that and going that far with her. Randi smiled her approval. Relieved, Riley moved on top of him straddling him as he eased his way into her. As they began to rock together with a steady rhythm, he looked up at Randi, and she drifted down and kissed him passionately. He withdrew his lips from Randi and pulled Riley’s face down to his kissing her.
His lips softly grazed along her neck until she felt the slight sting of him sinking his fangs into her flesh. The sweet sensation she felt from him sucking the blood flowing from the bite while riding him sent waves of passion throughout her body.
Suddenly, he withdrew, flipped Riley over on her back and entered her again. Randi pricked Riley’s shoulder with her fangs releasing a small amount of blood. She licked it up savoring the taste. Feeling he was close to finishing, and trying to abide by his wife’s rules, Quinn withdrew from Riley scooting down toward the end of the bed. Randi drifted down and sunk her fangs into Riley’s pubic area allowing the blood to flow. Quinn slowly lapped it up finding her spot, the lashing of his tongue causing her to have a violent release. His eyes drifted over to Randi, and she smiled as Riley drowned in the after waves of pleasure.
Quinn found himself between the two women snuggling against them. He turned to Riley and stroked her hair. “Are you okay, babe?”
Riley sighed and smiled. “I couldn’t be better. That has to be the best orgasm I’ve ever had.”
“Thank you,” said Quinn. “I’m flattered.”
“You should be,” said Riley with a wink and a look of contentment on her face.
Once Quinn and Randi healed the bite marks, Quinn used his preternatural power of hypnosis to eradicate her memory of them drinking her blood suggesting all the mortal girl will remember is the sex.
Riley glanced at her watch and said, “It’s been fun, but I gotta run. I’m traveling with my parents, and they’re expecting me to meet them for dinner at nine.”
“We don’t want to keep Mom and Dad waiting,” said Quinn with a wink. “I have to say; I enjoyed it.”
“So did I,” said Randi.
Riley got out of bed and collected her clothes off the floor and quickly got back into them. Randi put on a robe and walked her to the door.
Riley turned to her and said, “Randi, you’re cool. Thank you for being so generous with your husband. If he were my husband, I’m not sure I would be so willing to let someone else sample the goodies.”
Randi laughed and said, “I trust my husband, and I enjoyed it too. As long as he doesn’t do anything behind my back, we’re fine.”
Riley smacked her lips. “Too bad you only allow him to play with a girl one time.”
“One time is a one night stand. Twice is a relationship.”
Riley nodded in agreement. “Makes sense. Smart girl. See you around, Randi.”
“Yeah, see you around, Riley.” She closed the door and made her way back to the bedroom.
She dropped her robe to the floor batting her eyelids at Quinn and joined him in bed. She removed the used condom from him and tossed it in the trashcan next to the bed. She faced him and smiled before asking, “Did you enjoy fucking her?”
He sighed and looked into her eyes smiling. “Yes, but not as much as I enjoy fucking my wife.”
She ran her fingers through his curls gazing at him. “Right answer, Quinn. I was just wondering. Did you like Riley?”
“Yes, she was cool, but it doesn’t matter. She’s going to go back home to wherever she’s from, and we’ll probably never see her again. Are you sure we want to make a habit of this?”
She cocked her head to the side and said, “Now and then. The blood part was fun. But you; Quinn, you were quite aggressively active sexually, and you didn’t get to finish.”
“Neither did you,” he said wrapping his arms around her looking into her eyes. “Now we get to finish what we started together.”
“That’s the best part.”
They smiled as their lips drew closer.
RILEY MADE HER WAY down the creaky, narrow, wooden stairs of the two-hundred-year-old building feeling fulfilled. That was certainly inspiring, she said to herself. I love vampires. Quinn and Randi think I don’t remember them taking my blood, but little do they know. It may have bee
n my first time with a couple, but as hot as Quinn was, it was worth it.
She headed over to Antoine’s to meet her parents for dinner. After dinner, she planned to go back to her hotel to preserve the memories in her next painting. The image was in her head. An abstract of a hot vampire male with long, blond, curly hair going down on a red haired female lapping up blood while his blond wife watches appropriately titled, The Vampire’s Kiss. If she works diligently, this will be the one she’ll be unveiling on Saturday night at the grand opening of Devereaux’s Fine Art.
NADIA, CHAD, AND LACEY arrived in New Orleans close to midnight. Lacey followed Chad and Nadia in her car, a Lexus SUV courtesy of Quinn. You can’t complain too much about an ex-husband who provides you with such a fine ride, but it had been sitting in the driveway for months. His wife had no more use for it after being turned into a vampire. Still, it was generous of him.
Nadia and Chad’s son, Jackson, stayed in Destin with Chad’s mother so he could spend the last two weeks of summer with his friends before permanently moving to New Orleans with his parents.
They entered the mansion located in New Orleans’ Upper Garden District through the kitchen door. Nadia stepped into the hallway. She looked around and took a deep breath; happy to be home. The elegant crystal chandelier that hung in the open foyer next to the winding staircase had its charm. There was something about the warmth of the red, green, and gold color scheme against the dark hardwood floors and white trim that she loved. She walked around admiring how perfectly the antique furniture fit in the old antebellum mansion. Her fingers tapped the keys of the baby grand piano that graced the front parlor. She didn’t realize how much she missed this house until she returned. Most of all, she missed her father.
Even though she came to town on Thursdays for After Dark’s show at Vampyr, it wasn’t the same. She loves Chad, but she was happy that her secret wish to return to New Orleans to live was about to be fulfilled.
