  Chapter 8

  Brock

I knew this was going to happen. I knew she’d find out and it would all end, but I had hoped that I’d have a little more time before it all went to shit. When I saw her step through the door behind her dad, it felt like being punched in the gut. He was scowling, and all I could think was that he’d found out about us. It’s not like being with her is wrong; she’s nineteen, I’m twenty-four, that’s normal. Us being together wouldn’t even be a blip in the universe if I didn’t work for her father.

Nick Sutter treated her like a princess. She was his perfect angel, and any boy that had come near her over the years was pretty much told to drop dead. I’d tried to broach the subject last week when I’d figured out who she was, but he’d told me in not so many words that something was going on with her and dating was the last thing she needed. I really didn’t know what he meant, she’s seemed fine to me but I gave up my quest for his permission anyway.

Now, I’m trying to decide if I should go after her or go to the meeting that I’m supposed to be at. My heart is telling me that Emma should be at the top of the list. I should race after her and make her listen to me, but my head? My head is saying, “go to the meeting, you idiot. You can talk later. He’s going to notice something if you act weird.” What did I do, you ask? I went to the meeting.

When I left work that evening, it was late. The sun was just barely peeking above the horizon and the beach was mostly in shadows. Emma had agreed to meet me again the night before, but after this morning I wasn’t sure if she’d show. I decided that if she wasn’t there, I was going to go find her. I’d think of an excuse for Nick whenever I knocked on the door. I had too many things I needed explain to just sit back and do nothing.

I parked in my usual spot and began walking down the beach. If anything, the white noise of the waves and the cool breeze of the evening would help clear my head. As I meandered along I let the waves wash up around my ankles and calves. It felt refreshing, and a few times I thought about swimming, clothes be damned.

When the sun finished its descent, I gazed out into the distance and saw her. She was sitting close to the same spot we’d been in the night before. Her knees were bent and her head was down. Her shoulders shook, and she hugged her legs to her chest. I’ve never felt worse than I did in that moment. Hurting her was the last thing that I wanted, but I didn’t know how I could have avoided that. If I’d told her about her dad, she’d know that it had to end. It would have ended before it started, and I never would have known what kissing her felt like. Now she was like a drug that I was severely addicted to.

“Hey,” I mumbled as I started to sit down beside her. Her shoulders lifted on a sigh before she peered up at me. As I began to fold my body beside hers, she wiped at her eyes.

“What are you doing?” she sniffed before turning away from me.

“I need to talk to you,” I murmured.

“You’ve had a week to talk. Why now?” her voice trembled before she started to shift and stand up.

“Where are you going?” I reached for her, and our fingers brushed and at that moment I could feel a zing shoot up my arm. “Emma, please?”

I saw her relent when her body sagged back to the sand, but she still refused to meet my gaze. “I don’t need any more men in my life that lie and walk away. I’ve had enough of that this year.”

“Do you think I liked hiding that from you? Do you know how hard it’s been for me to be with you knowing that I shouldn’t be? Your dad would fire me for what I’ve done, and I’m sure he’d kill me for the things I want to do. I like you, but I shouldn’t,” I growled as I picked up a broken seashell and hurled it at the water in the distance.

“My dad doesn’t get to pick who I date,” she muttered.

“We are talking about the same man here, right? Nick Sutter? My boss? The same man who used to threaten the boys that looked at you funny? I was there back then. I remember the way he’d glare at your friends when they’d look at you wrong in a bathing suit.”

“Ok, fine,” she laughed humorlessly. “I guess you’re right.” I watched her shake her head slowly before she finally turned her eyes on me. “So, what do we do now?”

“I don’t know, but I’d like to keep seeing you. Let’s see where it goes,” I leaned back on my hands and stretched my legs out in front of me. “You might not even want to be around me after you see what I’m really like,” I chuckled.

“I doubt that,” she volleyed back.

“I don’t want to sneak around, though. I think we should tell him. It’s better he knows now, and just fires me,” I pinched the bridge of my nose and sighed.

“No!” her arm flew out and grasped mine. “Not yet, please? We’ll tell him, just not yet.”

  “Em,” I groaned. “This isn’t a good idea. I’m not that guy. I don’t mess around behind people’s backs. I just don’t.”

“Please? I promise we’ll tell. I just need time to figure out how to do this and not make them mad,” she nibbled her lip and I growled watching the tender flesh move between her teeth.

“Why do you care if they get mad? You’re an adult. Adults don’t hide like this,” I looked back to the water. What a fucking contradiction I was. I’d been lying to her all week. I was an adult too. Why were we doing this, again? Oh yeah, because I can’t keep my hands off her, and every time I’m around her all I think about is sinking into her hot little body.

“Brock?” she bumped into me, bringing me back to the present.

“Fine,” I blew out a breath. “We can wait, but this has disaster written all over it.”

  Emma

“I know,” I mumbled as I leaned against him. His body sagged as he dragged his palms down his face. I felt bad making him hide this, but I knew my dad and I knew what was going to happen when he found out. I’d be lying if I said I thought he’d be ok with it, but I wasn’t ready to face that reality. “So, my parents are going out of town next week. Maybe you can come over and hang out some?”

  “Maybe,” he mused.

“Well don’t sound so excited,” I grumbled.

“It’s not that, Em. I’m just trying to wrap my head around all this. I don’t do the sneaking thing, I don’t. This goes against everything I believe in,” he shook his head as he picked at the sand.

“I thought you wanted to be with me?” I pulled back. “I thought you liked kissing me,” I leaned in and pressed my mouth to his. His body went ridged as I turned and lifted my left leg. I slid it over his lap and turned to straddle him. “Don’t you want to be with me?” I mumbled against his lips as I lowered myself and rocked against him.

“Fuck!” he hissed as his hands flew to my waist. “Don’t start something we can’t finish,” he warned.

“Touch me,” I begged as I threaded my fingers in his hair.

  “Em,” he warned again.

“Touch me!” I pleaded as I yanked at the soft strands and fused my lips more forcefully with his. I wanted him to snap. I needed him to. My emotions had been all over the place for months. Jordan had screwed up my head so badly that I wasn’t sure I’d ever be able to open up again. I didn’t know if I was ready, or wanted something like this, but Brock made me forget that.

“Em,” he tried again but I rolled my hips into his and he snapped. “Fuck, you’re hot when you do that.” One hand gripped my neck holding me in place while the other slid up my thigh. “Are you sure about this?” his fingers moved higher, sliding under my cotton gym shorts and pausing right at the elastic band of my panties. I nodded, not even breaking the kiss as my center throbbed. My body knew what was about to happen, and I couldn’t hold back anymore.

“Brock,” I whimpered as his fingers began to move again. They deftly crept under my cotton panties moving toward their destination, and I trembled with need as I waited for the moment they would connect with it.

“Hmmm?” he hummed as he licked at my lips. We were in a wild make out frenzy, but at the same time I felt every
movement. The moment his fingers touched me, I came alive. “Holy shit you're wet!” he growled before biting down on my lower lip. He tugged at it before leaning his head and plunging his tongue deeper into my mouth. I rocked against him, and could feel his erection poking me as I pressed down. “Em?” he panted. “We’re not doing that tonight.” I froze and broke the kiss.

When I pulled back, his eyes were wild with want. Every part of him was screaming that he wanted this; every part but his mouth that is. One finger sunk into me as his chest rose and fell in quick succession. He was barely holding onto his restraint. “I told you,” he growled “I’m not taking you out here on the beach. I’m gonna take care of this, but when I fuck you, it’ll be where I can take my time.” He leaned closer and trailed his lips up the column of my neck. “You’re so fucking sexy right now, and all I can think about is how you’re squeezing my fingers. I want that to be my cock more than anything else.”

I shivered with need as he moved closer to my ear. His breath feathered across the soft skin as his fingers began to move. He pumped in and out as he lightly bit down on my lobe. A moan slipped out which turned into a scream when his thumb found my clit. He quickly covered my mouth with his, muffling my screams as I came all over his hand. His fingers kept moving as I rode out the orgasm and came back to Earth. I trembled before sagging against his chest, and hearing him chuckle.

“I’m glad I amused you,” I muttered as a sigh escaped me.

“Baby, that’s not amusement,” he huffed. “That’s me realizing that I’m going to spend another night with my hand. You’ve managed to reduce me to a fifteen-year-old again,” he pressed a quick kiss to the top of my head.

I pulled back and grinned at him as I shoved his shoulders, causing him to fall on to his back. He went willingly until I reached for the button on his shorts. As soon as I popped it loose and he figured out what I was doing, he began to balk. “Emma, no,” he swatted at me but I brushed his hands away.

“It’s my turn now,” I pouted. “You helped me, now I’m gonna help you,” I tugged open the fly, and reached inside. We were on the sand, and I wanted to make sure he didn’t get it in his pants.

“Em,” he started to protest, but stopped when my fingers met the steel rod hidden beneath the cotton. His arguments weakened, and I pulled him free from the confines of his boxers. His cock stood proud pointing at the sky, and I licked my lips as I pumped him a few times. “I didn’t do that for this,” he mumbled as I leaned forward. When my hair brushed against his stomach and I my tongue ran up the side of him, he hissed, “Fuck!”

“Want me to stop?” I teased as I swirled around the tip and then sunk down, taking him as far as I could into my mouth.

“Fuck no!” the words came out on a gasp along with others that I couldn’t make out. His hips jerked up off the sand, and I giggled around him. It didn’t take long, just a few well-placed licks and the perfect timing of several hard sucks and he was trying to swat me away. “I’m gonna come, Em,” he pulled at my hair. I swatted his attempts to move me away as I sunk down one last time and hollowed my cheeks. “Em,” he warned again before his entire body tightened and I felt him come. “Shit! Oh fuck! Em...that’s... holy shit!” his hips lifted as his body stiffened and then went lax.

I giggled as I pulled back, raking my lips down his length one last time to clean the mess I’d made. I’d only done this for Jordan, but it was the one thing he’d always been pleased with. I sat back, and ran my tongue along my bottom lip before taking a chance to look at Brock. “Where the hell did you learn to do that?” he gasped as he laid there with his arm slung over his eyes. He was still breathing hard, and his cock was glistening in the moonlight.

“I have to keep some secrets,” I giggled as I shrugged. He peered out from under his arm at me as he shook his head. “What?” I laughed.

He began tucking himself away before sitting up. “Who knew sweet little Emma Sutter could do that,” he shook his head.

“You’re welcome,” I grinned before standing up. It was getting late, and my parents would wonder why I hadn’t come in yet. When I’d left the house I’d told them I was going for a walk. They hadn’t checked on me, but I’m sure they’d worry if I didn’t come in soon. “They leave Monday morning,” I tipped my head down the beach toward my house. “Come over anytime and you can have more of that,” I smirked as I turned to walk away.

“What if I want more than that?” he called, causing me to freeze.

“You can have that too,” I shouted back without turning around.

It was faint, but I heard it; the groan that slipped out of him. He didn’t know it yet, but I’d just claimed him. He’d been just out of reach for so long, and now he was right here. I’d gotten part of him tonight, and I was going to get rest soon. Brock Foster claimed my heart at thirteen, and now he was going to claim my body.

  Chapter 9

  Emma

Over the course of the last several days Brock and I have been texting like crazy. Between his work schedule with football camp and me trying to find a part-time job, we really haven’t had time for each other. Mel called last night to tell me that she’s going to take me up on my offer and come see me over July 4th weekend. My parents always have this huge barbeque, and half the neighborhood shows up. Speaking of parents, they left this morning. I couldn’t even believe it. They got up before me, and just left. No note, no goodbye, no reading Ryan and I the riot act, nothing.

At first I was a little upset, but then I remembered Brock’s promise to come over tonight and I forgot all about my hurt feelings. Mom had left an envelope with some grocery money on the counter, and I knew I’d need to hide it so Ryan didn’t give it away for beer money but otherwise the week was looking pretty promising.

“So what time is the party tonight?” Aaron flopped down on a chair beside me. I was sitting on the back deck looking through the want ads.

“Party?” I folded the paper back up and looked at him confused.

“Um, yeah. Mom and Dad gone, whole house to yourself, what am I missing here?” he tossed his hands in the air. “We used to do this all the time in high school. I can buy beer the legal way this time,” he chuckled.

“The last party you helped me throw ended with me cleaning for three days straight. I’m not doing that again,” I sighed.

“It wasn’t that bad,” he laughed as he leaned back in the chair.

“You left and passed out at home. I had to clean up every room in the house, including my parents’ bed,” I gaped.

“So we’ll lock the bedroom doors. I think the pool is safe,” his brows bounced as he looked around. I could see the wheels turning, and it scared me a little. Aaron was known for his parties, and some of his friends could get pretty wild.

“I don’t know,” I sighed as I looked at him. He had this sad puppy look and I couldn’t help but give in. “Fine,” I rolled my eyes. “You win,” I tossed my hands in the air.

“Win what?” Ryan came out wearing his board shorts.

“Party tonight,” Aaron waggled his brows as a grin spread across his face.

“Sweet!” Ryan fist pumped. “I’m hitting the waves,” he took off down the deck steps and within minutes I saw him jogging over the dunes with his surf board under his arm.

“Wonder if Jess is meeting him out there,” I mused aloud.

“What’s up with them?” Aaron ran his hand through his hair.

“I don’t know. I think they like each other but don’t want to admit it, or at least he doesn’t,” I shook my head as I went to pick up my paper again.

“Oh to be sixteen again,” Aaron chuckled.

“No thank you,” I groaned. “I don’t miss that time in my life.”

“Yes, you do. Just think... you had no worries back then,” he shrugged. “I’m going to head home and make a list. I need to get supplies for this, and invite some friends. Call some of yours so we have some chicks here too.”

“None of my college friends liv
e around here, you dope. My high school friends are the same as yours. Your party, you do the inviting.” I shook my head at him as he turned and jogged back toward Uncle Cam’s. “Why can’t we do this at your house? Uncle Cam went to the same thing, right?”

“My dad would kill me. Yours thinks you’re perfect. I’m not worried if he gets mad,” he shouted. At that moment I reached down and removed my shoe. I looked over at where he was smirking at me, and threw it as hard as I could at him. He ducked and then proceeded to laugh his ass off. If the idea of Brock coming tonight wasn’t sitting fresh in my brain I’d chase after him, but all I could think of now was how I’d tell Aaron about us. There was no way I’d be able to keep him hidden tonight.

By the time Brock texted me that he was on his way, the party was in full swing. There were people everywhere. The pool was full, couples milled around the deck, and every available space in our kitchen and living room had a body in it. I locked the bedrooms before anyone arrived, and put away anything that was breakable; I’d learned that lesson last time.

“What’s up!” Aaron came strolling through the slider with his hands up in the air. One was holding a red Solo cup, and the other was high fiving people as he walked by. His red lifeguard trunks were dripping water on the floor, and he laughed as a girl slipped in the puddle he was creating.

“Don’t be an ass,” I shoved him in the side and he snickered.

“I’m not. I plan on getting some,” he snorted as he sipped his drink.

“Ew,” I cringed just as the front door opened and Brock stepped in. “Shit!” I hissed under my breath.

“Crap! What’s he doing here?” Aaron began shoving his way through the crowd toward Brock, who looked like he was frozen in place. His face had gone blank, but now he was plastering on a fake smile.
