Cade (A Wesley Brothers Novel Book 1) Page 8

by Michelle Smith

“Hey, it’s not a big deal.”

“What if she suspects something? I’m sure she could tell I was nervous. She’s a lawyer for Christ’s sake. She knows when someone is lying to her.”

“Maybe, but you didn’t lie to her about anything, did you? I mean, she didn’t flat out ask you if you had a naked Cade Wesley in your bathroom, did she? Did she say anything else to make you think she knew I was here?”

  “Well, no.”

“See? So, you have nothing to worry about. Besides, even if she thought you had a guy up here, she’d have no way of knowing it was me. You’re a grown woman, anyway. You can do whatever, or whoever, you want.” I add that last part with a smirk and a shoulder nudge and it seems to do the trick. She smiles and the tension visibly leaves her face.

“You’re right. I’m being silly.” She leans over and gives me a sweet, chaste kiss before she gets up and heads over to the coffee maker to get a pot started. While her back is to me, I take the opportunity to walk across the room and grab my underwear that was hanging off the edge of the television. I don’t have the heart to tell her they were there the whole time.

“There he is.” Silas shouts as I open the door to the closed patio.

“Yeah, it’s about damned time! You’re late.” Van chimes in.

“What the fuck man, you’re never late!” Reed throws in his two cents.

The other two guys, Finn and Luca, are just watching me, waiting for me to answer Reed’s question. Waiting on their chance to tease me about shit too. I meet with the boys of Seven’s Edge here every week, supposedly to go over what their plans are for their weekend sets, but it’s really just an excuse to get together with my friends and shoot the shit. It’s a ritual we’ve done since they started playing here, but I don’t think we’ve ever actually looked at a set list or conducted any business while we’ve been doing it.

“Relax fuckers. I’m here now. I just got held up.” I throw out a fairly vague response. Now if they’ll just let it go.

“Held up by pussy I bet. Nothing else in this world would make you late.”

  Fucking Van.

I knew I wouldn’t be able to get it by him. I just shake my head and keep on walking, but my lack of denial only confirms Van’s words in his mind, so he absolutely can’t let it go. Yes, he’s right, but there’s no way in hell I’m going to tell him that.

“Dude, I knew it. It is a piece of pussy that held you up. Who was it? Anyone we know? I bet it was that hot little blonde with the nice ass I saw you flirting with the other night. Was it? Come on man, you can tell us.” Trying to ignore Van’s barrage of questions, I sit down on the opposite side of the table, all eyes on me waiting for me to spill. Not happening today. I’m not going to talk about Nora. Nora’s different.

“You might as well answer him. You know he’s not gonna stop until he gets some details.” Luca adds, and I know he’s right. When it comes to the topic of pussy, Van has a one-track mind.

Sighing in defeat, I run my hands through my hair. “No, it wasn’t the blonde from last week. Yes, it was a girl I met here a few days ago, and before you ask, no, you aren’t getting any details this time. Now can we just drop it?” I like pussy talk as much as the next guy but again, Nora is different and I don’t think I’m ready to figure out why just yet. Surprisingly, and for probably the first time ever, Van puts his palms up in a surrender motion and drops the subject.

“How’s the demo album coming?” I ask.

“Fucking awesome! We’re making the final changes this weekend and then Aaron will give it to the record execs. If they like it, which we already know they will, they said they’ll book us on the next tour. By this time next month, we’ll be rocking out venues all over the country.” I’ve never seen Finn so excited. He’s usually the level-headed, laid back one of the group.

“Wow, you guys are about to hit it big. You know that right? There’s no way in hell those execs won’t like it.” It’s the truth. I’ve known these guys for almost all my life, and I’ve heard every song they’ve written. They pack my place out every week and have a huge following, not just locally, but online as well.

“Yeah,” Luca adds, “but it’s not a sure thing yet. Besides, there’s a big difference between playing your bar and playing in front of thousands of people. What if they don’t think we’re ready for that kind of step up?” Always the worrier.

“Nah, you guys are more than ready. I see the way you work the crowd out here. They love you. All the women want to fuck you and all the men want to be just like you. Those guys would be idiots not to sign you. You’re gonna be huge.”

“Fuck yeah, we are!” Van shouts, and we all chime in with cheers. Making himself right at home, he walks around the bar to the beer cooler and pulls out six beers, lining them along the bar top and popping the bottle caps off one by one. He brings them back to us, handing them out, then raises his bottle in a toast and we all follow. “To Seven’s Edge! The next badass motherfuckers of rock!”

We all laugh and clink bottles, and spend the next half hour goofing around until it’s time for them to leave for their rehearsal. It sucks that they’re going to be gone soon, but I’m genuinely happy for their success. They’re family to me and I couldn’t be more thrilled that they’re about to live their dream.

  ***

Some time around noon I get a text from Nora telling me she’s finished for the day, so I tell her to head over to the bar for a quick lunch. When she walks in wearing those tight, short denim shorts and a yellow fitted T-shirt I almost don’t make it through our meal.

Seriously, does she not realize how sexy she is?

At least I have the decency to let her eat, but I don’t think I can wait until I can get her back to my place before I touch that sweet body of hers. My only option—unless I want to grope her in the bathroom—is my shitty little office in the back of the bar. Not the ideal space, but I’m being greedy. I have limited time with her and I want to enjoy it as much as I can before she leaves.

At least, that’s the lie I’m telling myself. If I was being honest, I’d admit something feels different with her, something I don’t ever remember feeling before with the other girls I’ve slept with. I have this insatiable need to be around her, to touch her, definitely to fuck her. Which is what I’d like to be doing right now, but I’ll have to settle for giving her a quick orgasm in my office. The fucking can come later. I already lost out on three nights with her. I’m not wasting any more time by waiting until I get her in my bed.

When we get up to leave the table, being the gentleman that I am, I make sure to pull her chair out for her and offer my hand when I help her up. But then, the un-gentlemanly side of me shows up. She’s out of her seat, standing in front of me with her back to my front, when I quickly splay my hand across her stomach and pull her back flush with my body. Her small gasp does not go unnoticed. Using my other hand, I pull her hair to the side, so her neck is exposed for me. I lean down and whisper in her ear, “I don’t think I can wait to get you back to my place before I taste your sweet pussy again.” There’s no one around. I made sure to sit us in a back section that wasn’t open yet, so I take the opportunity to nuzzle my nose into the soft skin behind her ear and plant a few kisses along her slender neck. My lips brush over her ear when I whisper, “Wanna go see my office?”

With her lips slightly parted and her breathing growing heavy, Nora nods her head in agreement. I let go of her waist and grab her hand, leading her to my office. When we reach the door, I let her pass through in front of me, inhaling her sweet, fruity scent as she walks by. She turns to face me, watching me as I shut the door, and turn the lock. She never takes her eyes off me as I walk over to her and reach for her shorts. I tug the buttons loose, probably with more force than necessary so that the movement jostles her body. With the buttons undone, I push my fingers into the sides of her shorts and what looks like flimsy lace panties, pulling them both roughly down her legs. The lust burn
ing in her eyes shows me she can tell how eager I am to get these off her. When I clear them from her body, I stand back up and lift her by her waist, placing her on top of my paper littered desk. Grabbing my rolling chair, I slide it over and sit down, scooting close to her legs, and parting her thighs wide.

“Already wet for me, and I haven’t even touched you yet. That’s so fucking hot.” I’m rewarded with a quick smile before it drops from her face when I take that first long, slow lick up her center. “This’ll be quick. I can’t wait to get you home and into my bed, so be a good girl, and come all over my tongue so we can get out of here.”

I slide her ass over a few inches to the edge of the desk, slipping my hands underneath the firm cheeks and lifting her slightly to my waiting tongue. She collapses down onto her back, moving around on the small space as I lick, suck, and nibble her into submission. I pull away, releasing her clit with a loud suction sound. “So, so sweet. I could lick you all day.”

As it turns out, all day licking won’t be necessary, despite the fact I’m entirely up for the challenge, and a little disappointed I won’t get to try. Within a few minutes, I have Nora coming undone, quite literally. Her hands are grasping at air, trying to find anything solid to grab on to. My name is whispered breathlessly across her lips as she’s racked with tremor after tremor, back bowing up off the desk, desperately trying to be quiet so my employees won’t hear her. I don’t let up though, instead choosing to continue my swirls and teasing licks, coaxing every last drop from her body until she has nothing left to give me. I slow down, despite my desire to keep going. I want to get her home into my bed.

  Home.

Why does that sound right to me?

Now is not the time to try to figure that out though. Finally pulling away, I get my first good look at her face. Her eyes are closed and her breathing is ragged, her cheeks flushed from her orgasm. My chest puffs up with pride at being the one responsible for that, and I damned sure want to do it again. And fast. My cock sits hard in my jeans, begging to get in on the action, but he’s going to have to way until later.

Helping her sit up, I reach over and grab her shorts and panties off the floor. I help her slip them up her legs, lifting her off the desk so she can finish putting them on. When she’s all buttoned up in front of me, I put my fingers under her chin and lift her face, kissing her deeply. I know she can taste herself on me, but she still deepens the kiss, which tells me my dirty girl likes the way she tastes. I somehow manage to pull away from her, running my thumb along her plump bottom lip. “Should we hit the beach or go back to my place first, beautiful?”

She doesn’t even hesitate. “Your place.”

  Chapter Ten

  Nora

Thank goodness for the fifteen-minute walk back to Cade’s house on the beach. He had walked to the bar today, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the space the walk provides. If we were in a car right now, I’d probably jump over the center console, pull down his zipper, and suck him all the way back to his place. Hell, even now, just walking next to the man, I feel the urge to pull him behind some buildings and drop to my knees. But alas, being arrested for engaging in lewd acts in public is not on my agenda. The man has me thinking about sex every minute I’m with him. Every minute I’m not with him too.

Fuck, he’s good with his tongue.

When he sat me up on the desk in his office and devoured me, I knew I was getting in deep. This is a once in a lifetime experience for me and I’m gonna dread leaving when our business is done here. I could easily see myself falling for this man, even though I don’t really know much about him other than the little things he’s divulged here and there. And the fact he can bring me to orgasm in record speeds and numbers. I can’t explain it, but deep down I feel there’s a connection, something between us I’ve never felt before, not even with Jeff who I thought was the love of my life. Things just feel right, and that has me a little concerned. This is supposed to be a fling, acting on an attraction to a man who’s, in all honesty, way out of my league. But Cade isn’t treating me like I’m just a fling. Maybe that’s why I’m confused. He’s been sweet and caring.

It’s the sex. That must be the reason for these feelings. I just need to remember that no matter how much I want my blue-eyed, six-packed Adonis, he’s just not mine to keep. That’s assuming he wants to be kept, anyway. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter how much I want him. If he doesn’t want me beyond my business trip, then there’s nothing left for me to do but go home and put Cade Wesley out of my mind. Even now, I know it’s going to be an almost impossible task. He’s not easily forgettable and that’s assuming I wanted to forget him. Which I don’t.

“Nora, did you hear what I said?” Cade’s hand on my arm finally pulls me out of my wayward thoughts. No, I didn’t hear what he said because I let my mind foolishly drift to thoughts of him.

“Sorry, I guess I was lost in my thoughts.” I answer him sheepishly.

“Where’s your mind at?” Cade asks, and I know there is no way I can tell him what I’m thinking. So, I’ll only give him a half-truth.

“Just about how bummed I’m going to be when this business trip is over and I have to go back to Dallas.” There, that doesn’t sound so needy, I think.

Something that looks like disappointment crosses over his face when he replies to me, “Yeah, it’s gonna suck.” It surprises me he would say that, but he immediately grabs my hand and ushers me in the direction of a two-story beach house at the end of the small street we’re walking on. I don’t get a chance to ask what he means by his comment.

“This is it. Home sweet home.” He takes my hand and pulls me behind him up the sidewalk. He opens the front door quickly and steps aside, allowing me in first.

It doesn’t look like the bachelor pad I envisioned, not that Cade looks like a beer can and old recliner kind of guy, because he definitely does not give off that vibe. The house is clean and airy. It has plenty of windows, light streaming in from all directions. The living room and kitchen are connected into one large open space, and the furniture looks soft and inviting, all the warm, rich, masculine colors blending together to create a functional, yet beautiful, space. There’s a small hallway and a staircase to our right and across the room along the back wall is a sliding glass door. Cade takes my hand and leads me over to it, opening the door and stepping out onto an intricate wooden deck built up off the sand. The salty sea air breezes over us as we stand there, looking out beyond the beach to the rolling waters about fifty yards away.

“Cade, this view is amazing!” I can’t help but sound astonished. It really is breathtaking. I just stepped outside and I could already see myself sitting out here after a long day at the office, basking in the sunshine and taking a relaxing dip in the ocean to cool off. It’s a vision I have no business building in my mind though. All of this isn’t mine.

We stand out there in silence for a few minutes, soaking up the beauty. Soon, Cade slips in behind me and wraps his arms around my waist, pulling me up against his body. He nuzzles into my neck, resting his chin on my shoulder and whispers in my ear. “Ready for the tour?”

Oh yeah, I’m definitely ready. I give Cade a nod of approval. He takes my hand, pulling me back in through the sliding glass door, closing out the roar of the ocean behind us. “Well, obviously, this is the living room and kitchen,” he says as he heads to the small hallway near the front door. We stop at the stairs and he points down to the end of the hall. “Down there is a bathroom and the laundry room. The bedrooms are upstairs.” He gives me his sexy smirk and I can almost feel my knees buckle. He sweeps his hand in a gesture to go ahead. “After you, beautiful.”

I start up the stairs, and I know Cade is looking at my ass as I climb. I can feel his gaze burning into me. I sneak a peek over my shoulder as I go, and sure enough, his eyes are focused right where I thought they would be. That gives me a little more confidence, and I may put a little more swing into my hips climbing the last few steps. Cade clears his throat as h
e hits the landing. He moves to his right and opens the door. “This is the spare bedroom, but right now I use it as an office.” The room is larger than I thought it would be. He has a desk over in the corner with large windows on either side letting light through. The curtains are pulled back, revealing the rolling ocean off in the distance. I don’t think I would ever get much done in this room if it was my office. I’d spend all my time gazing out the window at the ocean.

He doesn’t leave me time to comment as he pulls me back out of the room and across the little hallway to the other door. This one must be his bedroom. I should be more nervous than I am, but it doesn’t surprise me I’m not. I feel oddly close to Cade, and I trust him, which is strange because I don’t trust anyone completely. Not after all the drama I went through with Jeff. But the minute Cade opens the door, I know this is a place where I belong, and that scares me. Without even trying too hard, I can picture us coming home together and relaxing on the deck, then snuggling in bed and making love until the early hours of the morning. Then we’d get up the next day and do it all over again.

His room is beautiful, just like the rest of his house. It’s done in rich, dark woods and brilliant blues that remind me of the color of his eyes. The focal point of the room, of course, is the large king-size bed along the front wall. This room is larger than the other one, and my gaze moves to Cade as he walks across the room. He stands next to a long curtain running along the back wall, and he pulls at the cord to open it. The ocean beyond comes into spectacular view in the distance. I walk over to where he’s standing and look out over the deck and the beach below, to the water in the distance. I don’t even know what to say, so I go with simple and honest. “Wow. It’s such a wonderful view.”
