Secrets in the Dark Page 13

“So, you willingly went with the man who had you kidnapped, sold your best friend to a human trafficking group that caters to serial killers?” Diesel asked sarcastically, upset at Dakota’s statement.

“What? No! I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Dakota cried out, shaking as she stepped back away from an angry Diesel.

“Your mother sold you to that asshat! She had you kidnapped, kidnapped Tina along with you. She sold Tina to a human trafficking ring that sold her to a serial killer.”

“Tina? Is she ok?” Dakota asked quickly, clearly upset at the news.

“Yes, she’s alive and well. We barely managed to get to her in time.” Pratt softly said, looking Dakota in the eyes. “She’s never given up on you and calls us every week for an update on your search.”

“Tell her I’m okay. I’m married and taken care of.”

The door to the interrogation room opened and out walked Jackson and his attorney. Dakota dutifully walked up to Jackson and wrapped her arms around him and hugged him. Jackson grinned evilly at Pratt as he wrapped his arms around Dakota and kissed her head.

“Hello Madanm. Thank you for taking care of me. Are you ready to go?”

  “Yes, sir.”

  “Good girl. Let’s go!”

As they walked past everyone towards the door, Jackson smirked at Pratt. Ignoring the other women, he kept his arms tightly around Dakota, stopping short when Carter and Highlander walked into the room with Eddie and Sheila standing behind them.

Dakota gasped, as she startled in Jackson’s arms, looking up at him in fear. Looking back at Eddie and Sheila, Dakota looked almost hopeful, yet didn’t make a move towards them.

“It’s okay, my pet, you can go say hello.” Jackson whispered into Dakota’s hair.

As Dakota shuffled towards Eddie and Sheila, almost zombie like, Tina came out from behind her parents, tears streaming down her eyes. Dakota stopped her movements, staring at Tina wide-eyed.

Tina walked towards Dakota, engulfing her in her arms, holding Dakota tight, sobbing as she held her best friend in her arms. Eddie and Sheila came up behind the two girls, engulfing them in their arms, joining in the crying fest.

When the three let go of Dakota, she just stood there, meekly, staring at the floor. Jackson walked up to Dakota and placed a hand on her shoulder, causing Dakota to jump slightly.

“Dakota, come home with us. You don’t need to go with him. We can keep you safe!” Tina pleaded with Dakota.

“He’s my husband. I belong to him.” Dakota smiled weakly before turning away from them and walked away.

Jackson turned towards Pratt with an evil grin on his face. “If only you’d had learned to be as obedient of a wife as she has, who knows what joys you would have gained.”

“Trust me asshat, I gained no joy being married to your brother. The man I’m married to now, a real man, he brings me more joy than you, your father, your brother and every other man on this planet could ever dream of giving their partner. You’ll never be half the man my husband is.”

Jackson laughed as he looked at Highlander. “You really should learn to discipline your wife.”

As Highlander took a step towards Jackson, the women stood in front of him to block his path.

Jackson walked out of the station with Dakota in his arms. Dakota look back towards the group briefly before walking out of the door with Jackson.

“Laura, I don’t know who that girl is, but that was not our Dakota. That girl was a shell of the girl we knew.” Eddie fumed, pointing towards the door.

“She’s been through a traumatic experience Eddie. It takes them time to get out of the zombie zone…”

“Don’t give me that bullshit. You know as well as I do that girl is terrified of him. What are you and your team going to do about it?” Eddie yelled at Pratt before backing away as Highlander came towards them. “Shit! I’m sorry.” Eddie ran his fingers through his military cut hair as he stumbled backwards.

“Hey,” Pratt said as she walked up to Eddie and put her hand on his arm. “I get it. I know that wasn’t her. Unfortunately, there was nothing we could do since she claimed that was her husband.”

“I’m stumped though, why would she do that? She knew we could have helped her.”

Pratt looked over at York, staring for a few moments past her at the wall behind her. “Fuck! Find the attorney, get his ass back in in the interrogation room, now!”

“Ian, I need you to get Brody on the phone. I need him to look deep as he can get into this attorney. I want every fucking spec of dirt he can find. Carter, you or Alvarez can join me with the attorney in interrogation.”

“What is the meaning of this? I’ll have your badges for harassment!” Jackson’s attorney yelled.

“Go right ahead, Mr. Robertson. But then you’ll have to explain your part in covering up human trafficking.” Pratt responded, straight faced and to the point with the attorney.

“What the hell are you talking about?” The attorney stuttered.

“Your mail order bride from the Ukraine. She’s here illegal. You lied on your application for her U.S. citizenship. I’m sure the IRS would love to know how you came up with the money to buy your ex-wife too.”

  “That’s not human trafficking, there’s websites…”

“It’s human trafficking when the person who creates the website kidnapped the women and offers them to men overseas. It’s prostitution no matter how you think of it. Your ex-wife never signed up for the mail order bride shit, you falsified documents to get her into the U.S., then you lied on the paperwork for get her the citizenship.”

  “You have no proof…”

Pratt threw down the folder that showed the documents the attorney had filled out to get the mail order bride into the country and the paperwork for her citizenship. The folder also showed photos of the wife held captive and after she arrived in the country.

They attorney stared at the folder and the documents that spilled out of it for several moments before looking up at Pratt and Carter. “What do you want?”

  “Where are the kids kept?”

“What-t-t?” The attorney asked, shocked at Pratt’s question.

“A woman is given an opportunity to get away from her captor, ninety-nine percent of the time they jump at it. The one percent? The only time they don’t leave is when a child, or children are involved. Dakota knows me, she knows my team. She knows my husband and his SEAL team. She knows Eddie and his SEAL team. Hell, that girl knows every fucking SEAL team on the damn planet would go to the ends of the earth, and into fucking hell to protect her ass once she was home safe and sound again. She chose to go back to the man who abused her, the man who raped her,” Pratt glared at the attorney, staring him down.

“That doesn’t mean there is a child involved.” The attorney whispered softly, trying to find an answer.

“Yes, it does. I’m a woman, Mr. Robertson. The only way I would stay in that type of relationship she was in, was to protect my child. Only difference between me and Dakota, I escaped my hell because my ex had no common sense to separate me and my child. I had my child in my possession at all times, so I was able to escape with my child. Jackson controls Dakota, the only true way to make a woman afraid to leave you, separate her from something she values more than herself, her child.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about!” They attorney panicked.

Pratt smacked the table hard with her palm, making the attorney jump and Carter look at her in concern. “Where do they keep the children? This is the last time I am asking. I walk out of this room, I call both the IRS and Immigration, giving them your name and how you falsified information. Then I will fucking call the Senator myself and tell him how you fucking tried to make a deal to save your ass.”

“You’ll do that shit even if I do tell you!” The attorney mocked.

“You tell me where they keep the kids, I’ll keep your name out of the report. You did your job as Ja
ckson’s attorney, only we had evidence show up after you left and we nailed his ass. Now, where are the kids kept?”

The attorney looked from Pratt to Carter. When he saw the murder in Carter’s eyes, he swallowed with a loud gulp and then looked back at Pratt. “There’s some land that Jackson bought under his mother’s name eight years ago. He had a large cabin like home built on the property. It’s manned by a couple, a follower and his mail order bride, like mine. They hold the children of the women still in training.”

“How many kids are housed there?” Pratt asked, standing up at the same time Carter did.

“At any given time, there are at least twelve children in one of the rooms of the home. They keep the children in the same room, easier to control.”

“Give us the address of the property.” Carter demanded throwing the notepad at the attorney. “Also, include the mother’s name the property is under.”

As they walked out of the room, Eddie and Sheila walked up to Pratt in shock. “Dakota has a child?”

“That’s the only reason a victim would stay with their kidnapper. I’ve seen it before in the past. It’s rare. Most of the kids are kept with the mothers but are threatened on what would happen if they tried to escape and are caught.”

“Bring our girl home to us, little bit too. We’ll protect them both!” Eddie firmly said as he hugged Pratt tight.

  “You know it.”

Shane walked up to her sister. “Be safe, Laura.”

“You guys won’t get rid of me that quick!” Pratt winked at her sister before she hugged her and her brother-in-law, Pattrick. “When did you all get here?”

“Dad called Highlander yesterday. He told dad what happened, so we caught the first flight we could.”

Pratt looked over at her husband, nodding at him before walking away to get ready. Highlander looked at Ian and Carter. “Take care of my lass. She’s my world.”

“We’ve got her. Don’t worry!” Ian assured Highlander before smacking him on the back as he walked away.

An hour later, Ian’s team, Alpha Squad, Tampa PD SWAT and Dakota Swift’s team were suited up and slowly descending on the property where the cabin was located.

As they descended on the cabin, they watched as Jackson pulled into the property and Dakota jumped out of the SUV, running towards the log home. Jackson slowly following behind.

As Dakota came out of the cabin, she had two small children, no more than two years old holding onto each hand. As they came out of the home, Jackson walked up to one of the children, demanding their hand, to which the child hesitated slightly before letting go of Dakota’s hand to take their father’s.

Just as the kid let go of Dakota’s hands, Tampa PD shouted for everyone to freeze and get onto the ground. Jackson swung around to look at his surrounding before grabbing one of the children and taking off into the wooded area behind the cabin.

Dakota, out of fear for the child, followed Jackson, screaming for the child to be put down. Pratt, York, Alvarez, Carter and Ian took off after Jackson and Dakota into the woods.

The five of them scoured the woods before they came to a halt. Jackson stood there with a gun to a small boy’s head, with Dakota on her knees begging Jackson to let the boy go. Next to Dakota was a little girl, slightly smaller than the boy, crying for her mother.

“Get the fuck off my property or I will kill him. I can make more of him, so don’t fucking play me.”

“Let the boy go, Jackson. You’re not going to kill your own son. Let him go!” York ordered Jackson.

“He wouldn’t be the first one I killed, probably won’t be the last!” Jackson retaliated.

“Well, I’m sure daddy would be proud of your lack of accomplishments, killing your own sons. Daughters seems to be the way you Harris men go, not killing the sons!” Pratt mocked Jackson. Trying to get his attention.

“Fuck you, whore. My own brother was ordered to kill the spawn he created with you, to put you in your place and the fucking reject couldn’t even do that. Useless waste of sperm that he was. Father should have ended his life when he was younger, but no, he had high hopes that Jon would make a great Marine. Dumbass is even messing that shit up now with the trash he’s fucking.”

“Last chance to let the boy go, Jackson.” Pratt ordered, aiming her gun a little higher.

“Fuck you!” Jackson screamed at Pratt.

Pratt fired her weapon, hitting Jackson between the eyes. As he fell to the ground, Dakota screamed and grabbed her son, pulling him to her. Pratt stared at Jackson’s body for several seconds before going to Dakota and checking the boy over.

Ian and Carter ran over to Pratt as she handed the boy back to Dakota. “You ok?”

“Yeah. If I hadn’t killed him, he never would have left Dakota and these two kids alone. He would have hunted them down until the day he died. I couldn’t let him do that.”

“He would have shot his own kid. You were protecting them. No one faults you for that.” Ian said, glancing over at Dakota with the two children. “I would have done the same thing. You just beat me to it.”

Carter and York agreed with Ian’s statement, watching Dakota as she approached. Alvarez joined the group after she had caught up with them.

“Thank you for saving us. I’m sorry I had to…”

“Don’t. You did what you had to do to protect your children. I get it. Took me a bit to realize why you willingly left with him, but I get it. You have nothing to be sorry for.” Pratt said, crouching down to get on the little one’s levels.

Dakota followed suit. “Auntie Laura, meet Edward Pattrick and Sheyna Lauren. It was the closest I could get the names of the people who gave me hope.”

Pratt looked at Dakota in shock at the names. “I’m surprised Jackson let you name them.”

“He didn’t know who Eddie or Pattrick were. He did try to fight me on the Lauren part. I lied and said it had nothing to do with you. It was a name I had always loved as a little girl, so he relented when I obeyed him for a while.”

“Smart chica!” Pratt looked at the two small children and smiled. “Hi, I’m Auntie Laura. It’s nice to meet you.” Pratt held out her hand for the two youngsters to take in a handshake.

The two small children just stared at her before looking to their mother who nodded at them. Instead of taking Pratt’s hand to shake, both children engulfed her in a hug, causing everyone around them to chuckle when they knocked Pratt to the ground, laughing.

After all the children were gathered from the home, the couple taking care of them arrested, they all headed back to the station where everyone else was waiting.

Dakota walked in with both children holding her hands in between Ian and Carter, with York leading the way. Alvarez and Pratt walked behind the group, protecting their six’s.

Eddie and Sheila stepped forward towards Dakota. Dakota looked up at them, smiling shyly. “I’m sorry but I had to go with him.”

“We get it sweetheart. At first, we didn’t, but now we do. No one blames you for what you had to do. Never!” Sheila admitted as she engulfed Dakota into a hug.

As soon as Dakota was engulfed in a hug, she burst into tears. Eddie and Tina hugged her around Sheila, causing Sheila to start crying, then Tina.

“Momma, why you crying?” a little girl asked.

Everyone broke up the hug and looked down at the little girl. “It’s happy tears baby. Come here.” Dakota crouched down and picked up her little girl. “Eddie, Sheila, Tina, Shane and Pattrick, I’d like you to meet my daughter, Sheyna Lauren and my son, Edward Pattrick. They are twins.”

The small group gasped at the names and then got loud as they said hi to the small humans, welcoming them into the family.

Trident Security, Alpha Squad, Highlander, Highlander’s SEAL team, Larry, Gene, Carter, Alvarez and Swift all stood back to give them their privacy and observed.

“I’m glad that ended well. So, when do we head back to Californ-i-a?” Diesel asked jokingly.

  “Wh
y got a hot date or something?” Sgt. Brocard laughed, shaking her head.

“Yeah, although that’s not why I’m ready to head back. I’m ready to head back to our beaches for some sand and sun!”

“There’s sand and sun here.” Swift said, pointing towards the window.

“Yeahh, but your sand and sun is humid as fuck and I don’t want my bathing suit sticking to me like flies on shit.”

“Wow, Diez, such vocabulary!” Rameriez groaned. “I apologize for my teammate’s ignorant comments, Officer Swift. We’re still working on her wording.”

Swift laughed, “It’s all good. She’s not wrong either. I guess I’m just used to it.”

“Diesel wears a bathing suit?” Everyone laughed when Diesel flipped Rameriez off.

“Who’s the hot date with?” Raso asked, ignoring the others.

“Eh, just some dick, nothing serious.”

“It could be serious if you learned how to do a proper blow job.” Cortez cracked, staring Diesel down.

“Bitch, please. My stomach is a graveyard for a man’s sperm!”

“The fuck?!” Alpha Squad exclaimed in horror.

  “Gross, dumbass!” Raso mumbled.

“Umm, Diesel, you don’t suck dick so how is your stomach a graveyard?” York asked, hesitantly, as if she’s afraid of her teammate’s response.

“Ha, goes to show what you twats know! I do suck dick, just not a stranger’s dick. I gotta do research on the dick before any suckie suckie takes place.”

“I’m probably going to get into trouble for asking, but what about riding the strange dick?” Snake asked, trying to hide his laughter.

“Oh, I’ll fuck the hell out of strange dick all day long, as long as it’s wrapped. I just don’t suck it.”

“Okay, what if he wants to eat the pussy?” Snake asked, staring Diesel in the eyes.

“He can eat the pus pus if he wants, but he better eat it like he’s missed some meals too. I’ll ride his nose if I have to, to get off.”

Pratt, Raso, Cortez and York all groaned as they smacked their foreheads. “Don’t you dare do it Snake. I’ll risk the ass beating for kicking you in the nuts if you do it!” Pratt warned her husband’s grinning teammate.
