“My name is Sergeant David I’m the mission coordinator. Most of you will be trained to serve and protect your savior on the battle field. If you fail their training you’ll be assign here on watch duty. It’s not the end of the world, I mean you get to watch T.V for a living” David laughs.
“Sir we have vision on her” says a woman at the computer.
“Excellent zoom her in.”
The big screen closes up to a blond girl wearing a black leather jacket. She places a black book bag a gray machine next to her. She whispers something to the man in front of her who looks much older than she is.
“I can’t hear them. Where is the audio?” Chris yells.
“Right away sir.”
We start to hear unclear static and than a familiar girl voice says “Are you sure about this Jasen?”
The 6 foot muscular man nods and he walks up to an officer wearing a blue uniform. He tells him to walk though a cylinder glass and a red beam light scans from top to bottom.
“He’s clean” says the officer.
The blond girl walks in and turns around. I realize its Kala. She holds out her arm s as the red lights come down.
“C’mon c’mon. Let her pass” says David.
Looking at David makes me more nervous.
“She’s clean.”
“YES!” David jerks in excitement.
Kala calmly grabs her black book bag as she starts walking through the terminal unsuspected. The airport looks very high class with all the bright luxury department stores. David suddenly brings up an image of a man in his 40s on the corner of the screen. He has mostly gray hair and his emotionless face, a small scar on his lip.
“Who is that?” I ask.
“That sir is one of the most dangerous warlords that lives in Devah, the western territory. Kraven Walker is known for the killings of innocence’s with his virus experiments. You see ever territory has their own way fighting. For us we use the Redeemed and for Kraven, it’s bio weapons. Our mission today is to kill him while he’s on the plane before it lands.”
“How do we know he’ll use to fight us?” Vera asks.
“Just a week ago in Capa, a women living near the mountains was just infected along with her dog. We think Kraven sent one of his men to start an outbreak here in the Northern Territory.”
I stay quiet. I know who David is referring to. This is the man responsible for my mom’s sickness. I begin to feel nothing but anger.
“Do you have any clue what the military is doing to the infect women?” Vera ask.
“She’s being contained right now at C level. They’re running some test on her, but I think our scientist are studying her illness rather than saving her. That’s the smart thing do, so well know what were up against.”
I can’t believe this, my mom isn’t getting help.
“They’re using her body to study the virus?!” I exclaim.
Everyone turns to me as my voice becomes louder. Even the people in front of a monitor turns. David scolds me and says, “We’re doing the best we can. The only thing now is to kill this man before he spreads it in our realm again.”
I nod but I know David is lying. They’re probably running more test on my mom as we speak. I have save her and the only way to that is to get C level.
“Hazer, are you okay?” Vera ask.
“Yea I’m just thinking,” I say, taking a deep breath.
Everyone looks at the screen. Kala puts some kind of black device in her ear. It fits perfectly and it’s not noticeable. She begins to walk casually next to a 6 foot muscular man. I assume it’s her protector Jasen.
“This is Kala do you copy” Kala adjusts her device in her ear.
“Hello this is Sergeant David. I’ll be you advisor for this mission. I’m sending a picture of your target Kraven to you right now”
Kala walk passes a few restaurants while looking at a picture on her phone. It’s hard to believe she’s my age. If anyone ever found out she was from the North. They would arrest and execute her.
“Sir I just found Kraven Walker. He’s boarding with five body guards at Gate B-10.”
“Listen to me real carefully Kala. Kraven and his men went through the security check which means they don’t have any weapons but their hands. Build the gun and take him out. Sergeant Jasen will assist you in any way possible. If anything goes wrong than we have to go with plan B.”
“I know” says Kala.
“What’s plan B” says Garrett.
David looks at us and takes a deep breath.
“I’ll explain later. Alright I want all eyes on Kala and Kraven the whole time. This man is not leaving this plane alive” says David.
I look over to Garrett who is completely mesmerized by the screen or should I say Kala. The two enter the plane and I notice we are still able to see them. We immediately see Kraven and I realize how close they are too him. He’s sitting in first class but Kala keeps on walking to the back. Kala and Jasen finally sit down but they are near the wing of the plane.
David takes a deep breath and tells his workers to zoom into Kraven’s suitcase.
“What do you have in there?”
“There are too many people awake, I have to wait until everyone is asleep” says Kala.
“Don’t sweat it take your time.” David replies.
Kala unzips her book back and takes out a blow dryer. I think she is making some sort of weapon out of the objects she brought. Jasen is sitting on the outer seat and he’s very alert. Is Kala really going to pull this off?
“The plane is taking off sir” says the woman at the front computer.
“Excellent, make sure you have eyes on the body guards.”
I look to my right as the door opens and the Realm Leader walks into the room. I notice Ace is with him.
“Realm Leader Greg” David salutes.
“I heard we are about to take Kraven’s life. This is the moment of truth, where we’ll take power” says Greg.
Ace turns around and glares at me. I try to ignore her but it seems like her intentions is to provoke me and then punish me with the injection she’s been dying to place on us the moment we all got here. I hate her with all my guts. I wouldn’t hesitate if I got the chance to punish her for what she did to Mr. Rivera. Carter is the most enrage. His sharp eyes trailed Ace’s every move like hawk would to a mouse, but Ace isn’t a mouse, she’s a Commander, untouchable.
“Carry on Sergeant David.”
“Right away sir. Kala have you finish the weapon.”
“I’m almost done. I just need to add a few more parts” says Kala as she unscrews the tip of her toothpaste.
One of Kraven’s body guards stand up and whispers something to Kraven. His eye widens and nods. Does he know? We stare at him though the large screen and he suddenly looks right at the camera staring right at us.
“What is he saying” says Greg.
“Did you pick up on anything” David shouts at his workers.
“Sir I think he knows” says the women up front.
“Knows what?”
“That we are watching him.”
I look carefully at the screen and I notice Kraven is putting on a black bracelet. What can that be?
“Alright Kala, Kraven is on to us. Do you have the weapon or not?”
“I got it.”
Kala holds the strange looking object that resembles a pistol. She looks around and most of the people around her are already asleep. Jasen gets up allowing Kala to walk out with her weapon. The two slowly walks down the path way and Kraven doesn’t seem to notice them.
“Okay you have one shot do not waste it. Focus Kraven and fight the guards later. You have one chance Kala Boltman” David exclaims.
Realm Leader Greg is getting impatient as he’s crossing his legs and griping the chair handles. I wonder what they will do if Kala fails this mission.
Kala opens the curtains and while holding out her gun. So far no one notices her. She points the gun at Kraven’s head.
My heart starts to race as Kala takes a step closer to the dangerous warlord.
“Take fire,” David commands.
Right before Kala can pull the trigger; one of the fight attendances tackles her down, screaming “GUN!” Everyone on the plane screams and panics as they watch Kala struggle against the flight attendant.
“GET THAT WEAPON SOLIDER!” Greg shouts as he takes the mic away from David.
Jasen punches the flight attendant and knocks him out. One of the body guards grabs him, but Jasen quickly elbows them in the face. He drops unconscious from the impact.
“Damn” says Alex.
Jasen quickly helps Kala up and her eye has changed to a golden color and her pupils are completely gone.
“She’s using her abilities,” Garrett says nearly jumping out of his seat.
We look back and Kraven stands up with his two body guards, standing in front of him..
“Ah the Northern territory. I guess you both were sent here to kill me am I right? I mean we are at war, I think it’s fair to say you’re trespassing.” Kraven smiles.
“Kala get the gun, NOW!”
“It’s a shame I’ll be leaving this plane alive, but I can’t say the same for you two”
Kala quickly looks at the gun on floor.
“You see these aren’t ordinary body guards. They’re loyal. Meaning they will stop at nothing to protect me. Get them!!’
Kala lunges to the ground and picks up the gun. The body guards runs to her but luckily Jasen quickly stops them by kicking one in the men in the face. He quickly grabs the other one, bringin him to the ground.
“KALA NOW!”
One of the body guards suddenly punches Jasen in the face.
BANG!
The guard that jumps in front of Kraven and immediately drops to the floor dead and Kraven looks down at his chest. There is a hole in his jacket but I don’t see blood. Kraven opens his jacket and pulls out the bullet.
“Did I fail to mention my jacket is 70 percent bullet proof? I’m guessing that was your last shot isn’t it” Kraven smirks.
“Nope!” Kala’s gun snaps out and it turns into a knife, lugging towards him with speed, but Kraven mange to dodge her attack, punching her in the face.
“Capa really did train you well but I have some tricks of my own.”
Kraven adjusts his bracelet and a red light lit up. Kala quickly backs away as the medal on the chairs around her dissolves into tiny gray dust. The dust particle travels and forms around Kraven’s wrist, building black medal blade that seems to be fused to his arm. He lunges and swings at Kala.
Kala dodges the first swing and attempts to block the second. The black medal blade breaks Kala’s weapon, cutting her jacket.
I notice there isn’t a scratch on her skin. Is this her power?
Kraven comes back and tries to stab Kala in the chest. The sharp sword immediately breaks apart as it fails to penetrate Kala’s skin.
“What the hell?!”
“Did I fail to mention I’m 100 percent bullet proof?”
Jasen quickly gets up. The medal dust starts to form around the broken sword again, rebuilding itself.
“NO!” Kala screams.
Kraven pulls the sword out of him Jasen’s body. Kala quickly runs to Jasen, kneeing over his trenched blood body. It’s too late.
“So the rumors are true. I heard the North was working on a war serum. You’re a Redeemed? I didn’t expect to see one for the first time, but I have to cut this short. My time here is up and I have other plans to attend to.”
“KALA DO NOT LET HIM ESCAPE DO YOU HEAR ME!” Greg yells into the mic.
“Let that lesson to you.”
Kala’s tears become more noticeable. We watch her grieve in silence as she looks down to her protector. Kraven walks to the back of the plane where everyone is hiding. Greg continues to scream in the mic, telling her to get up and complete the mission.
Greg finally hands David back the mic and quickly says “Kala do you remember plan B.”
“Yes I do,” her voice cracks and echoes throughout this room. She wipes her tear and releases a heavy breath. We all watch carefully as she picks up the broken part that was once her weapon. It’s still has sharp edge to it.
She begins walks to the front where the pilots have locked their doors.
“What is she going David?” Greg ask.
“She’s hijacking the plane.”
As she gets to the door she stops and. reaches up to her nose. The blood imprints onto her fingers. She kicks down the door and the pilots reach for their guns shooting at Kala. The bullets ricochet off of her indestructible skin. She stabs one of the pilots and quickly snaps the other one’s neck. She immediately coughs up enormous amount of blood.
“Kala are you alright?!”
Kala reaches to her nose again and so much blood is coming out.
“What’s going on?” Kala yells.
“Using your powers too long will kill you. You’ve reached your limits” says David.
“How will I survive the outcome?” Kala ask.
We all turn to David and the look on his face worries me. He takes a deep breath and his eyes gave off a shameful look. Even though I just meant the girl, I really do hope he isn’t willing to let her die.
“Think about Capa. You will die in honor. Think no more.”
“I can still hold it,” Kala wipes her nose.
“That’s the sprit. Now listen to me carefully. Aim that plane to Devah’s tallest building. That’s where the leader Amin should be.”
Kala nods and her eyes turn back normal. She quickly turns the wheel around and the plane flies down to building below. I look into the other camera and see Kraven is opening the emergency door.
“Hit that building now!” Greg yells.
I look carefully at Kala’s eyes and they are still human. Why isn’t she using it?
“Why isn’t she using?!” I say.
Each moment she gets closer to the building is a moment closer to her death. I feel my heart racing as I hope she would survive.
BOOM!
The plane crashes into the building and the screen goes static. I couldn’t believe my eyes. This is what we’re doing on missions. I look to Garrett and Vera they’re just in shock as I am. I’m starting regret signing up for this.
“We lost connection sir.”
Everyone in the room goes quiet and none of us can still grasp what just happened. Greg takes off his hat and says “She fought well.”
I can’t believe the girl was just talking to a few hours ago is now dead. I know this is war but I’m just remembering the last words she said to me before she left on this mission. We walk out and I see Rylan pass us, his jaws are clutched and the look in eyes had such rage in them as her enters the room.
“Realm Leader! What happen?!”
“Watch your tone savior!”
“She did plan B didn’t she? We can’t leave her.”
“That is not up to you Savior,” Greg replies. “But sir!” “That’s enough! I’ve been too lenient with your kind. It’s time for you to get back in line where you belong.” Greg storms out with Ace who glares at me with her sharp eyes.
I start walking causally just when Rylan is about to come out of the room. I don’t want him to assume I’m east dropping or anything, but I didn’t realize how close Kala was to him. They must have been close friends while growing up here in this hell hole.
I wish I can tell him I’m sorry about Kala but I don’t even know how to say “hi” to him. It’s like he’s a stranger rather than my brother.
I follow the crowd out in the hallway and a few men in lab coats seem to be in a rush as the wind brushes against my face. I start to think about how my mom is still being experimented on and all the pain she must be enduring right now. The scream that I know all too well painfully stabs me in the heart as I think about all the times my mom was in pain.
I watch carefully where the men in lab coats are heading; they walk
up a stair case and enter a room on the second floor. I wonder if that’s where they are keeping my mom.
Chris is giving the initiates a lecture about something that I’m too far away to even hear. I’m sure he won’t notice I’m missing for a few minutes. I wait patiently as a few soldiers pass by who are too busy to even notice what I’m up to. I quickly run up the stair case as fast as my legs can handle.
I slowly walk towards the door where the three men in lab coat gone through. I peek inside and they are surrounding a person on a chair. I can hear a buzzing noise as I get closer
“Hold her still.”
“Please it hurts.”
The buzzing noise gets louder and my heart starts beating faster. What are they doing to my mom?
“NO, STOP!” I yell.
The men in lap coats look towards my way, revealing the person on the chair. It’s not my mom instead it’s a girl my age. She looks completely terrify as blood runs down her cheeks from the burnt Redeemed mark under her eye.
“Hey! You’re not allowed up here,” says the man holding the sharp tool.
The girl’s eyes turn green and the lights in this room explode, causing complete darkness. I quickly run out of the room and dash downstairs before I can get into any trouble. I’m already on Ace and Seth’s watch list I can’t afford to get in anymore trouble. I walk down stairs where my group waits for me. My heart begins to calm as I try to catch my breath.
“Hazer! Can you repeat what I just said?”
I notice Chris is looking right at me along with all the initiates. Oh god, I wasn’t even here when he was giving a lecture, but I can’t just stand here and not say anything. I’m starting to feel like a prey, being watch by a hundred eyes ready to eat me unless I give them an answer.
“Y-you said you wanted us to pay attention and learn from your experience?”
Giggles can be heard in the group and I realize I just made a joke of myself in front of everyone.
“Well you’re not completely wrong, pay attention next time; it would probably save your life.”
