“Oh yeah, what would that be Geno?” Charlie asked.
“I found a file hidden on that flash drive of Cooper’s. It had some interesting stuff in it.”
“What would that be?”
“Oh records of building permits signed by Judges that don’t exist except on paper. Transactions that have never been filed, properties that have exchanged hands a dozen times but are listed under one man’s name. Oh... and a list of judges and politicians that have received bribes and payoffs that aren’t quite kosher, if you know what I mean.”
Sam stepped forward. “I might be interested in seeing that file myself. If Charlie can’t do anything about it I sure as hell can.”
Charlie nodded. “I think Sam would be the person you should talk to about that file. Let the federal government handle that one. Me, I’m going to investigate the Holliday Mall structure. I think I need to review permits and building materials very carefully.”
Aries looked down the hall to the bedroom he was sharing with the woman he loved. “I think I have some fences to mend tonight.” He slapped Lucifer on the back. “I’ll see you guys when I see you.” Walking down the hall, he grinned. He couldn’t wait until his family met his woman. Then he laughed out loud. Hell, he couldn’t wait for Luna to meet his family. She would rock their world. He felt proud of her strength. As for her pain, he would spend every day for the rest of his life making it go away. He knew pain. But she had somehow taken that away for him.
He opened the door and caught sight of her standing by the window looking out. “Honey, I’m home! Come give your man a kiss. You are free from all that finally. You and me are gonna rock the town in celebration.”
Luna looked over at him with tears running down her face. She stared at him for a moment then smiled as she lifted a hand to wipe them away.
Her smile was brilliant to see and Aries felt his heart melt.
She rushed over to him.
He took her in his arms, lifted her up, and twirled her around in circles. “I love you sweetheart,” he whispered up at her. “Don’t ever leave me. I need you as much as I need air to breathe.”
“I won’t,” she promised. “I need you too. I love you to the moon and back.” She stilled and gazed lovingly at his face. “Please kiss me.”
Aries crushed his mouth on hers and took her breath away.
The fire inside them both smoldered then burst into flames, just like every time they kissed.
Aries moved her back to the bed. “First, we’ll put out this damn blaze. Then we’ll rock the town.”
Luna laughed through her happy tears as they fell onto the bed together.

I often use people I watch as characters in my books and I always try to give my characters some of my own values and habits.
I love to create characters and put them in a troubling situation then sit back and let them do all the work. My characters surprise even me at times. At some point in the book, they take on a life of their own and the twists and turns they create becomes the story. Of all the stories, I could write I found I like mystery/thrillers the best. I like to keep my readers guessing until the very end of the book.
