Hard to Resist (Sexy Nerd Boys, #3) Page 11

“Behave,” I growl the command, letting my teeth graze her in warning.

I suck her into my mouth and she wiggles beneath me. I want to worship her body all night long. And, that’s exactly what I plan to do. My free hand wanders to the soft thatch of hair between her legs and find her drenched with desire. My middle finger grazes her swollen clit and I press into her and massage a slow circular motion. Her legs fall open to give me better access.

“You like that Hadley?” I ask, sliding my middle finger down to her hot, wet center and press my thumb to her clit. She nods in approval and bites her lip against a moan.

  “Talk to me,” I request.

“I need it Ravi, please.” She puts her feet flat on the bed arches her hips towards me.

“Tell me no one makes you come like I do,” I demand, licking from her rib cage to her hip bone.

“Fuck, Ravi. No one, seriously, no one makes me come like you do.”

I pull back to admire her beautiful pussy before running my tongue slowly through her inner folds. She lets out a strangled sound and thrusts her fingers into my hair. When I reach her sensitive nub I suck her into my mouth, savoring the taste of her. Her fingers tighten around my hair and she uses the leverage to grind against my lips. God damn.

“Ravi. Yes. God.” She tenses, her tight hole clenching my fingers tight and then spasming long and hard.

My hand is shaking with longing as I pull it back and force myself to back away to put some space between us. I would give all of my earthly possessions to bury myself deeply inside of her. And, I’m having a really difficult time remembering all the reasons why it would be a bad idea to do so.

“Is it your turn now?” Hadley grins playfully at me once she catches her breath.

“You know most women don’t get quite so excited to give head,” I joke.

“Are you complaining about my enthusiasm?”

“Fuck no,” I answer with a laugh before knotting my fingers in her hair and yanking her forward to claim her lips again.

And, of course my cell phone chooses that exact moment to ring.

“Ignore it,” She pleads, reaching between us and grasping me through my jeans.

Less than a minute after the ringing stops the text alert goes off. I sigh and pull away.

“I’d better check that, it might be my mom,” I bite out with frustration.

I grab my phone and see a text from Kashi. I grind my teeth to keep from calling her and telling her what she just fucking interrupted. But, then I see the message.

Kashi: Ravi, I need you right now! I just found out I’m knocked up and I’m freaking the fuck out! Please!!!!

Mother fucker. How exactly is this my problem?

  My phone beeps again.

Kashi: Please, I don’t know what to do. Please.

“I’m sorry, I have to take this.”

“Is it your mom?” Hadley sits up and reaches for her shirt, concern filling her winter green eyes.

“Uh...” I consider saying ‘yes’, but I can’t risk the bad karma of saying my mom isn’t doing well. “No, it’s Kashi.”

Hadley’s eyes harden and she pulls on her pants quickly.

“Right,” She mutters before flying out of my room before I can say another word. Fuck my life. I sigh and press the ‘call button’.

“Ravi!” Kashi answers in a thick, panicked voice.

“Hey Kashi, try to calm down.”

“I can’t. My parents are going to freak the fuck out. And, when I told Jeff about it he could tell I was freaked out and so now he’s pissed at me. Everything is falling apart,” She starts to sob uncontrollably.

“Kashi it’s going to be okay. I’ll be there soon.” I toss my phone down on my bed and quickly put on clean clothes. Hadley’s bedroom door is closed and her music, Flogging Molly, is blaring. I sigh inwardly. How am I ever going to fix shit between Hadley and me? I suppose that’s a problem for later.

  Hadley

How could I have been so unbelievably stupid? I’m not taking the full blame for this, though. Ravi was like a man possessed, he’d owned my body in a way I’d never imagined possible. I swallow the bile in my throat. If Kashi hadn’t called just then Ravi and I would probably be fucking right now. Tingles run up my spine at the enticing thought. I’m going to hell.

No, I’m pissed at him dammit, no sexy thoughts! I told him not to kiss me unless he meant it, but he did it anyway. He kissed me and then took off. When will I learn my lesson when it comes to Ravi?

Shortly after Ravi leaves Xana trots back into his room. Her favorite spot in the house is Ravi’s bed. What can I say, the cat has great taste.

“Xana, come here sweetie.” I follow her and scoop her up.

My eyes land on Ravi’s phone, laying in the middle of his bed. He must’ve left it here on accident. I shouldn’t look at it. It’s none of my business.

I sigh to myself. What the hell, I’m already going to burn for what I did earlier today anyway.

The very top text conversation is from Kashi and as soon as I read the words on the screen my heart begins to pound uncontrollably. The room feels like it’s closing in on me. She’s pregnant. She’s fucking pregnant. Good god that was fast, they’ve only been seeing each other for a month. Fuck, fuck, fuck.

He’s supposed to be mine. I’m supposed to be the one to marry him and have his adorable brown skinned babies. This isn’t fair. My heart feels like it’s been ripped out of my chest. This seriously fucking sucks.

  Ravi

After the crazy day I’ve had all I can think of doing when I step through the door of the apartment is pulling Hadley into my arms and getting lost in her for a little while. But, I’m thinking the chances of that happening after I rushed out of here earlier are slim to none. I hear the faint sound of the television coming from the living room so I head there in search of Hadley.

As soon as I lay eyes on her my breath catches in my chest. She always has that effect on me. She’s sitting on the couch in a short green dress, her hair slightly mussed like she took a nap. I hope it was in my bed. Xana is curled up beside her dozing peacefully. And, then Hadley realizes I’m standing there and her expression turns to a mixture of hurt and anger.

“Hey beautiful, what’s up?” I take a step towards the couch.

Hadley stands quickly and tries to skirt around me, keeping her gaze averted from mine the entire time.

“Hadley,” I reach for her and she stops abruptly.

“Don’t touch me,” She bites out.

I hold my hands up in front of me to show her that I’m not going to touch her.

“I’m sorry about earlier. Will you please let me explain?”

She lets out a humorless laugh and tries again to step around me.

“You have a girlfriend. You shouldn’t even be thinking about touching me.” She shakes her head back and forth. Her eyes are glistening with tears threatening to spill over.

“I’m not going to take all the blame for this. You have a boyfriend and you still...well, you know.”

“That’s different.” She sets her hard glare on me.

  “How is it different?”

“Well, for one Matthew is gay. And, for two your girlfriend is pregnant.”

I’m not even sure which of those two statements to address first.

  “You’re dating a gay man?”

“Is that really the conversation you think we need to be having right now?” Hadley asks incredulously.

“No, you’re right. Kashi is pregnant,” I confirm.

A silent tear rolls down Hadley’s cheek and I honestly feel my heart breaking. How can I ever think of resisting her when Hadley is the only one I’ll ever want? I reach out and catch the tear with my thumb.

  “Hadley-”

She holds up a hand to stop my words.

“Stop. Just stop already, Ravi,” She insists before skirting around me.

Seconds later the door to her bedroom closes loudly. I briefly consider goin
g after her to clear this up, but I can’t work up the balls to do it.

  Chapter 13

  Ravi

It’s been seven days of pure torture. Hadley has basically decided to pretend I don’t exist. Every time I enter a room she leaves. There have been no home cooked meals, no tussles over the controller in order to decide what to watch, and the t-shirts of mine that she had previously seemed to have claimed as her own have been washed, folded, and placed on my bed while I was at my new part time job at the hospital (otherwise known as my weekly torture).

I don’t even know how to make this right either. I’m at a complete loss for words. I could simply correct her assumption that I’m about to be a daddy. And, I will tell her the truth about Kashi. But, I haven’t been able to get my head on straight as to what this all really means. Hadley and I can’t be together. So, why am I wasting so much time pining for someone I’ll never have?

I stare at my open word document and try to force past the writer’s block that continues to plague me. I thought at first that it was all the stress from the change of scenery. But, over time I’ve come to realize that my mind is too preoccupied with Hadley.

The sound of the front door opening pulls me from what can only be described as scowling at a blank word document. Moments later Chase appears in the entrance to the living room.

“Hey, man,” Chase greets me with a smile before flopping down on the couch next to me. “Is Had home?”

I nod, doing my best to mask the jolt that zips through me at the mere mention of her name.

“L.P. is in her room, I think.”

  “Hadley!” Chase shouts.

After several seconds the sound of Hadley’s bedroom door creaking open reaches us.

  “Chase?” She calls back.

“Yeah, get the hell out here. We need to talk about our plans for the Fourth of July.”

My heart begins to beat out an erratic rhythm. With all of this pouting, self-cajoling, and obsessing with the one woman I can’t have I’ve completely lost track of days. Tomorrow we would spend the entire day at the lake, Hadley would likely be in nothing but a few scraps of fabric known as a bathing suit, we would barbeque and drink. It’s been our tradition since the age of fifteen. Well, the drinking didn’t start until we were seventeen, but the rest of it has held strong.

Hadley appears wearing a pair of cutoff jean shorts that make her legs look miles long and a white tank top. Her dark hair is cascading wildly down her shoulders and her winter green eyes are trained directly on Chase, continuing in her task of pretending I don’t exist.

“What’s there to talk about? We’re going to the lake to grill burgers, drink beer, play bags, swim, and watch fireworks.” Hadley shrugs and turns to go back to her room.

“I kind of mentioned it to Matthew and he was hoping to come along.”

“Great.” Hadley nods. “Maybe I should see if anyone else wants to join us. I could invite Eve and Asher, maybe I could even see if Abby, Ethan, Nikki, Lee, Remy, and Dex have plans already.”

“Yeah, we could make it a big thing, that might be kind of fun,” Chase agrees.

“Okay, I’ll text everyone,” Hadley agrees and attempts to leave again.

“Wait,” Chase calls out. “Why do you keep trying to get out of here like your ass is on fire?”

Hadley casts a surreptitious glance in my direction but instead of answering Chase she reluctantly makes her way over to the couch and plops down between Chase and I.

Her sweet strawberry scent is like an IV injection of Viagra. Her thigh brushes against mine and even through my jeans the contact feels like a branding iron. My heart hammers loudly in my chest.

I jump off the couch like I’ve been electrocuted.

“Anyone need something to drink?” I ask lamely.

Chase and Hadley both look at me like I’ve lost my mind. Maybe I have.

  Hadley

I love the Fourth of July. I love spending the day at the lake grilling and drinking with friends. I love fireworks. I honestly wish I could do nothing but this every day of my life.

I stretch out like a cat in the sun and soak up the warmth soaking into my skin. A strangled coughing noise reaches my ears and I open my eyes to see Ravi staring at me intensely from a few feet away. I give him a look that says ‘keep dreaming’.

“You made these burgers, sugar?” Matthew calls out after taking a huge bite of his burger. I nod proudly. I’d made the patties beforehand and let Chase grill them.

“They’re amazing. You know, this just proves to me how stupid straight men are. How is it possible no one has wifed you up yet? You’re sexy as hell, you’re Gordon Ramsay in the kitchen, and based on the campus gossip you suck a mean dick. If I was straight, I’d snap you up in a hot second.”

I giggle and cast a glance towards Ravi who’s now openly scowling at Matthew. Matthew winks at him before returning to his burger and finishing it in two more bites.

“Who’s up for a chicken fight?” Matthew asks, grabbing me unceremoniously from my sunbathing position and flinging me over his shoulder.

“Oh, that sounds fun,” Eve grabs Asher’s arm and bounces on her toes excitedly. “Will you play with me?”

“Of course, Angel.” Asher pulls her into a scorching kiss before they splash into the water to join us.

  Ravi

I sit scowling at Hadley and Matthew together. I look down at the bottle of beer in my hand, just to have something to look at aside from Hadley. Perfect, beautiful Hadley laughing and splashing in the water with Matthew. She said he’s gay, and although I didn’t get the whole story I get that they’re not having a sexual relationship. But, I’m still fighting a white hot feeling in my chest, wishing I could be the one splashing around and making her laugh the way he is. I want to steal her away and keep every one of her smiles only for myself.

Alternate Universe Ravi is probably with Hadley in the lake. Hoarding every smile and laugh like a miser, kissing every inch of her glistening skin, telling her he’s the luckiest man in the world because he has her.

I don’t know how long I sit there but eventually Asher, Dex, and Ethan come to sit next to me.

“Hey you two are physicists, you think there’s an alternate universe where you’re still you, but maybe just one small detail is different?” I ask Asher and Dex.

“I don’t know. I don’t think it matters if there is though. You have to live this life to make yourself happy,” Asher says.

  “Easier said than done.”

“Nobody said it was easy. Sometimes the person you’re supposed to be with seems totally out of reach. But, the thing is, love has a way of turning your life inside out in the best possible way,” Ethan says looking towards Abby. Dex and Asher both nod their agreement, looking at their women as well.

“If you want her you should go get her,” Dex suggests. Then all three of them get up and saunter back to their women.

I watch Ethan pull Abby into a brief but passionate embrace and try to push back the ache of jealousy in my chest. Every couple here is so damn happy, it’s just not fair. Remy and her boyfriend Dex brought their kids and are a regular after school special. Nikki and Lee are showing off their brand new engagement rings. Apparently they surprised each other with proposals on the same night. And, of course Asher and Eve are all over each other like usual. I don’t begrudge any of Hadley’s friends happiness. I guess I wish I had some, too.

  *****

It’s nearly midnight when we get home from the lake. We’d all eaten our weight in burgers and fruit salad, then laid out in the grass to watch the fireworks. The lake is a pretty well-kept secret so it’s the perfect place to go to see fireworks every year. It’s definitely better than having to cram into a crowded clearing with thousands of strangers.

Hadley was cordial to me but didn’t talk to me unless necessary and kept a distance between us the entire time. Last year we snuck off into the woods for a secret make out session. Oh how times change.

“Night,” Hadley says tersely as soon as the door is closed behind us.

  “L.P., wait.”

If looks could kill I’d be flayed open.

“Hadley,” I correct, my voice quiet with apology.

She pauses only briefly but then continues to walk away. I reach for her arm desperately and drag her back.

“It’s not my baby,” I blurt. “Kashi and I aren’t really dating. Her parents told her that if she didn’t dump her white boyfriend and date a nice Indian boy they would stop paying her tuition. So, when our parents set us up on a date she asked if I could just pretend to be her boyfriend for a little while to appease her parents.”

Hadley stops trying to pull her arm away from me and meets my gaze.

“So you’re not going to have a baby?”

  “No, I’m not.”

Hadley’s lips crash into mine, catching me by surprise. I part my lips to deepen the kiss, reveling in her sweet taste. A desperate need settles in my lower abdomen. I’m so damn tired of fighting my feelings for her.

I reach out with trembling hands and drag her dress over her head, flinging it aside without regard. My breath is coming out raggedly as I look down at her clothed in nothing but the skimpy red bikini she tortured me with all day. It’s just begging to be torn apart in my hands. Her perky tits bounce enticingly. God, it’s been too long since I’ve truly felt her. Too fucking long.

My cock strains against my zipper, desperately needing to be set free. She leans close, her eyes not leaving mine, and her teeth graze my bottom lip. I groan and bend my head down, claiming her mouth in a commanding kiss. My tongue fucks her mouth relentlessly. My hands wrap around her ass and I pull her up, she wraps her legs around me seating her heat directly over my throbbing cock. Fuck the bedroom, I drop her onto the couch and her hands start to grasp for the zipper on my jeans. She tugs my pants open and my cock springs free. She wraps her fingers around my base and starts to stroke me firmly. God it reminds me of the first time all over again.

I’d been so ready to blow the second our lips had met for the first time. And, there she was laid out beneath me, begging me to have her. I tried to resist, just like I’d been resisting for the past few years. But when she’d wrapped her slender fingers around my cock and stroked it like it belonged to her I was a goner. And, fuck if she wasn’t right. It was always hers. I was always hers.
