I walk back to Gabby’s room. Luckily it’s just her and Linc. “Hey, you guys all by yourselves?” Linc whi spers, “Yeah, they left us so we could rest. They went downstairs to grab some food. Cade said he was going to call you, but when he did, he realized your phone was in here.”
“Oh, it’s okay. I need to go home and get ready for work anyway.”
He looks up as I’m walking toward the door. “Hey Daria, it was really good having you here today.”
I smile. “Thanks, Linc. I’m glad I got to be a part of your special day.”
~*~*~ I make my way home. I really do have to get ready for work. If I learned one thing today, it’s that I cannot be alone with Cade. I can’t trust myself with him. I start thinking with my heart instead of my brain.
I start the shower. I almost hate to wash the scent of him off of me knowing that I’ll never be that close again. I step into the scalding hot stream of water and it sprays down on my body. I start to cry again for the life I’ll never have. The house. The kids. The picket fence. Shit… kids. I think I’m past my ovulation point. I quit taking my birth control while I was in the mountains. There really wasn’t a need for it. I didn’t plan on having great, nasty, dirty hospital room sex with Cade.
I’m going to the clinic tomorrow to get some birth control. I said I was going to just hook up with people to fill the need; if I’m going to do that, today proved that I need to be prepared.
The water starts to run cold, pulling me from my thoughts. I step out of the shower and look at myself in the full length mirror. Cade was right; I do look like a skeleton. I run my hand across my protruding hip bone. Wow. I look like shit.
My cell starts ringing. I look and see that it’s Anna.
“Hey, Anna. What’s up?”
“Where did you go?”
“I have to work tonight, so I came home to get ready.”
“Oh, well, what happened with you and Cade?” “What do you mean?” “He came to lunch all calm and shit. Then afterward, he found out you’d left and he got all pissy and left, too.”
“I don’t know what his problem was. I told Linc I had to go to work. I can’t worry about Cade all the time.”
“I know. Are you sure nothing happened between the two of you?”
“Anna, I really have to get ready for work. I’m sorry. I’ll have to talk to you later.”
I hang up and head out the door for work.
Walking back to Gabby’s room, I run right into Russ. “Hey, man, where have you been?”
Chapter 10
Cade
Walking back to Gabby’s room, I run right into Russ. “Hey, man, where have you been?”
“Um, I went to check on Daria.”
Russ laughs. “Yeah, it looks like you checked on her all right. You should probably fix your belt.” I shove his shoulder. “Screw you, man.” “I’m not sure you’d have enough energy left to screw me. You look like you just ran a marathon. Did you at least get all of that sexual frustration out?”
I shove him again. He looks back at me. “Anyway, I was coming to find you so we could go grab some food. Gabby is taking a nap.”
“Sounds good; let me call Daria. Let her know what we are doing in case she wants to join us.” I run back into Gabby’s room to grab my phone. I whisper to Linc, “Do you want us to bring you back something, man?”
“Yes please. I’m gonna try to rest while Gabby is resting.”
“Okay.” I text Daria and realize her phone is still in here, too. “Shit, hey, if Daria comes back tell her we went downstairs to eat. Tell to come on down.”
He nods. “Yeah man.”
I look back as I’m going out the door. “Hey, Linc?”
“Yeah?” “You and Gab are parents.”
He smiles. “Yeah, - we are. How weird is that?”
I shake my head and walk out the door. I try to fix my clothes so it doesn’t look like I just had wild hospital room sex. Damn, that was awesome sex, though. I’ve always thought her body was made just for me. Even if she is way too skinny right now. After we eat, she and I have to talk.
We finish eating and make our way back up to Gabby’s room. Daria never showed up downstairs. I’m pissed, I try to call her phone and get no answer. Now she’s avoiding me again. What the hell? Once we are back in the room, I ask Linc where she went and he says she went to work. I look over to Russ. “Hey, man, what are you doing tonight?”
He shrugs. “Nothing really. I think Anna is going to stay here until all the parents get here. Then she’s going to let them into Linc and Gabby’s house. Why? What’s up?”
“Nothing. You wanna go grab a beer and some wings?”
“Sure, let me talk to Anna. We aren’t gonna be super late, are we?”
I shake my head. “Nah. I just wanna chill out a little.”
He shrugs. “Sounds good. I’ll be back in a second.”
~*~*~
Russ shakes his head as soon as we park the car. “Dude, you came here just to see her?”
“Maybe.” “Man, don’t fuck with her. She’s working. I know she didn’t come downstairs, but she told Linc she had to work.”
“I’m not gonna fuck with her. I’m just getting a beer and some wings.”
“As long as you aren’t going all stalker on her.” We make our way into Chandler’s and find an open pub table. Sure enough, not long after we arrive, she sees us.
“Hey guys. What can I get for you?” She seems nervous.
“I’ll have a Bud Light and some wings.”
Russ looks up. “I’ll have the same but Coors Light and Jalapeno Poppers.”
She and I both look at him like he’s lost his mind. I lean back in my chair. “How in the hell is that the same?”
“Both are kinds of beer and both are appetizers.”
Daria starts laughing. A real laugh. I know that’s why Russ said it. “So you aren’t behind the bar tonight?” “No, they only work all three of us behind the b ar on busy nights. Tonight was my turn to handle the two seaters around the bar.”
Russ slams his hands down on the table, making us all jump. “Good thing we came in tonight.”
Smiling at Russ, she says, “I guess it is. I’m gonna get this put in and I’ll be back with your beers.” I watch her as she walks away. She’s wearing a little black skirt tonight with a Chandler’s tank top and black boots.
A bunch of guys from the team and their girls come in. Jason sees us and walks over. “Hey guys, didn’t figure we’d see you here tonight.”
“We just came in to grab a couple of beers and some food. Anna’s still at the hospital with Gabby and Linc.”
Macy, Jason’s girlfriend, makes her way over to us. “So… give me all the details on the baby.”
I think for a second. “Um, seven pounds, four ounces, and twenty inches long.”
She smiles. “What’s his name?”
Russ laughs. “That has yet to be determined.” Lucas , one of the new guys, steps up. “Well, this deserves shots. We have a baby to celebrate. The next generation of the Addison football greats.”
Daria shows up with our beers and Macy bounces up and down. “Shit! Daria, I didn’t know you were back in town.” She pulls Daria into a huge hug. Her eyes get really big, “And you are working here? Oh my gosh, I bet you get to see a lot of hot guys.”Jason looks at her. “Since when are you worried about other hot guys?”
She gives him a stare. “Since you won’t quit jacking off in my bathroom to Maxim.”
Russ and I look at each other. “Whoa.” Daria starts laughing. “There are a few cute guys I’ve seen in here. But I’m not really looking. I just come to work, sling beer, and go home.”
Lucas says to Daria, “Hey gorgeous, we need a round of shots.”
She looks at him. “I need your ID. I know the other guys. I don’t know you.” He t akes out his ID. “Lucas Nathaniel Barnes. Junior in college, starting lineman, single, and a Scorpio. Now you know all about me; tell me about yourself.
”
I’m going to punch him in the face. Russ sees my body tensing. He leans in. “Cade, man, he doesn’t know you guys dated. Just leave it alone. I’m sure one of the other guys will explain it later.”
“Daria Jones. Junior in college, waitress here, single but not looking for anyone, especially you, and oh yeah. Aries.” She pats his shoulder. “You have a fun night. I’ll be back with those shots soon.”
Everyone is giving him shit for being shot down. He shouts as she’s going to the bar, “I hate to see you leave, but I love to watch you go.”
Russ spits his beer all over me. “Dude that was the fucking lamest line ever.”
Jason grabs Lucas’s arm. “Dude, that’s Cades ex- girlfriend. Show some respect.” Lucas looks at me like I’ve grown another head. “Why in hell is she your ex? If I had her, we wouldn’t leave my bedroom.”
I jump to my feet, but Russ grabs me. “Man don’t make a scene he’s just running his mouth.”
I look over at him with a death glare, “Don’t ever fucking talk about her that way again.” A few minutes later, Daria comes back with our food and the shots. It’s nice to see that Lucas apologizes to her.
An hour or so later and a few rounds later, Russ gets a text on his phone. “Hey, man, are you ready? Anna just texted that she’s heading home.”
Jason overhears and replies, “Hell no. You guys aren’t going anywhere. Hand me your phone.” He takes Russ’s phone and hits the call button. “Hey, Anna. It’s Jason. We are at Chandler’s. You should come down here. Macy is here and some of the other girls; they all want to see you.”
He pauses and then continues, “I know you’re tired, but come on. We all start classes and games soon. Come hang out for just like thirty minutes.”
She must agree because he says, “You will. See you soon.” Jason hands the phone back to Russ. “She’s coming down here to hang out. So you don’t have to leave. See? Problem fixed.”
Russ looks at him. “Maybe I wanted to go home. Why would I want to hang out with you guys when I’ll see more of you than I want to soon enough? I wanted to go home and sink my—.”
I stop him right there. “Whoa, I don’t wanna know what you want to sink into. So shut it.” I take another shot. We hear squealing at the door. We all look over there and see that a group of girls just came in the door. It looks like they are already well on their way to being drunk. These girls are what we like to call the football bimbos. They follow the team to all the games, bars, parties, anything we go to. They are always there, even though they don’t have boyfriends on the team. They just try to score with the single guys. Personally, I’d rather stick to using my hand over sleeping with one of them. It’s been worse since they figured out Daria and I split up.
That little tramp Carrie is with them. She’s obsessed with Russ and me. Anna walks in after the bimbos and sits down in Russ’s lap. “Hey, baby.” She kisses him on the cheek.
He smiles. “Hey.” I can’t tell what those two are doing with their hands and I don’t want to know.
I stand up. “I’m going to piss. Don’t let anyone touch my drink.” They nod. After I take care of business, I think about the other night when I ran into Daria in the hallway. I’m still pissed at her for not talking to me after we had sex today. Right now, though, I’m enjoying keeping her on pins and needles. She knows I’m going to say something to her about it. Maybe I’ll run into her again in the hallway and we can have a repeat of today. I open the bathroom door and someone is instantly on me, pushing me into the wall.
“What the fuck?’
I look down to see Carrie looking up at me. “It looks like you need some stress relief.”
I try to pull away. “Not with you, I don’t.”
She smiles. “Come on, we can make Daria jealous.” She gropes my dick.
“Whoa, Get off of me.” She tries to look all sexy. “Come on, you know you want to. We can do it right here. I’m not even wearing panties.”
I shake my head. “You need some help. Like professional help. Stay away from me.”
I shove her away as I walk on down the hall, back to the guys and to get another shot.
Chapter 11
Daria
Why in the hell did he have to come here tonight? I know he’s just waiting to corner me about today. My stupid fucking hormones are getting the better of me. I shouldn’t have caved today.
Walking to the storage closet, I see that dumb ass skank Carrie all up on Cade in the hallway. She needs to get a clue. Part of me wants to go beat the shit out of her, but that is something that a jealous girlfriend would do. I’m not his girlfriend. I have no right.
Anna comes bouncing up to me. “Hey, girlie.”
I hug her. “Hey, are you keeping that crowd under control over there?” “Pshh. I can keep my man under control. That is all I promise to do.” I see her glance down the hallway. “That little skank. She needs to get off of Cade.”
I shrug. “That’s his business, not mine.” We turn to see him push her away. Cade stalks back to the table. As Carrie comes from the hall, she shoulder checks Anna and me. Anna spins around.
“Bitch, you need to watch where you are going.”
She turns around. “Oh really?”
“Yeah, really. And stay away from Cade.”
She looks at us me both. “Oh, are you guys sad that I’ve had both Cade and Russ?”
Anna goes to grab her, but I grab Anna first. “If you hit her, I have to kick you out.” Anna nods. “You never slept with Russ. You slept with just about everyone else at that party, but not Russ. And I know Cade wouldn’t touch your skank ass with a ten foot pole!”
Russ approaches. “Hey, ladies, is there a problem?”
Anna smirks. “Our neighborhood STD PSA is telling me how she had sex with you and Cade.” Russ spins around. “Are you crazy? I never even touched you. We went out one time and you practically had sex with everyone at the party. So you need to keep my name out of your mouth. Come on, Anna. I’m ready to go.”
We laugh as Carrie stomps off. Russ gives me a kiss on the cheek. “I need a favor. Cade isn’t ready to leave yet. We drove his car here but I don’t want him driving. Can you make sure he calls a cab or something? We’ll get his car tomorrow.”
I nod. “I’ll do what I can.”
“Thanks.” I decide to go on back to the storage room where I was headed, before I saw that stupid girl all up on Cade. I grab the few items I need. As soon as I push the door open, I’m pushed back into the room by Cade. He’s drunk. “Where did you go today?”
“I told Linc I had to go home and get ready for work.” His aroma of cologne, musk and his after shave me wet. I squeeze my thighs together as he brushes a finger down my face. “Why are you always running from me, Daria?”
“I’m not running. But we aren’t good for each other.” He backs me up against the wall, putting his hands on both sides of my head. “Yes, we are. I know I said a bunch of shit last year. But I was wrong.”
I shake my head. “No, you weren’t. You need someone who can give you everything; I can’t do that.”
“I can’t have sex without you.”
“What?” He shakes his head. “My dick doesn’t work without you. I tried to get over you. Believe me. I tried. With several women.”
I try to push him off of me. “I don’t want to hear this.” “Why don’t you want to hear it? I didn’t actually fuck any of them. I’m telling you my dick doesn’t work without you. He will not get up. I was beginning to think I had ED or something. But today proved different.”
He’s by my ear, licking the lobe. My girl parts are screaming. Fuck! I know my breathing is slower.
“We can’t do this again. Today was a mistake.” He still has me pinned against the wall. I feel like my hormones are on overload. He runs his hand up my skirt.
“Fuck, Dar, you are so wet.” He snatches at my panties, ripping them. Before I use my better judgment, my legs are around his waist and he’s fu
cking me against the wall. AGAIN. For the second time today. WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING?
He kisses my neck and holds on to my ass not making any attempt to let go. “Fuck, baby, you feel so good. I don’t want to let you go.”
I can hear him saying these words, but they make me sad. I’m about to tell him to stop when his thumb grazes my clit.
“Fuck.” Why does my body always betray me? He nods. “Yep, baby.” His thrusts get faster and harder, at the same time as he works my clit with his thumb.
“Oh fuck, oh fuck, shit.” I come all over his dick. A minute later, I feel his hot semen burst inside of me. I love the way it makes me feel. After what feels like a few minutes he finally lets me down.
He kisses my cheek. “Mmm, that was awesome, baby.”
I shake my head. “Cade, we can’t keep doing this.”
He stumbles forward. “Why not?”
I feel the tears burning in my eyes. “We just can’t.”
“Why in the hell not? I love you. I need you.” “I know all of that. It’s just… I’m not worthy of your love.”
The tears fall down my face. He grabs me and pulls me to his chest. “I can’t let you go, Dar.”
“You have to.” When he sees that I’m not going to talk about it anymore he storms out in the hall. Great. Just fucking awesome.
I finish cleaning myself up and make my way back to the bar. Mack looks at me.
“I’m assuming that was your fifteen minute break?”
I nod. “Yeah. Sorry.” A couple hours later I’ve had Mack cut him off. He was already pretty buzzed, now he’s just plain damn shit faced.
He’s making a show of talking about me loudly, saying that he loves me. Even if I don’t love him anymore. I look at Mack.
“I gotta get him out of here. Do you mind if I cut out now? I only have like thirty minutes left.”
He shakes his head. “No, go take him home.” I walk over to the few stragglers left; Carrie is among them. I guess she’s waiting for whomever is too drunk to pay attention.
