"Are you Papa Gheto's wife?" I asked.

"Yes oh Mr.Mansen it's horrible!" She started crying.

  "Tell me what happened?"

"Oh this can't be happening! How can God do this to us?!"

I'm running out of patience. "Tell me what happened Mrs.Gheto!"

"Anton is dead!" She started wailing.

She continued, "Oh it's horrible! Too horrible! Gheto's old Chevy was hit by an eight wheeler truck!"

  I froze on the spot.

"The driver of the truck was drunk! Oh why?!" She wailed again.

  "Where's Althea?" I asked

She did not answer. People were looking at us now.

"Mrs. Gheto tell me where Althea is!"

This time I did not wait for an answer. I ran to the emergency room but a shattering headache overpowered me.

I crumpled on the floor. 'This is not happening!' I thought. 'I must see Althea!'

But I can't stand up. The room was spinning and my head was killing me.

I tried to crawl my way. I need to see Althea. There's nothing to stop me.

Suddenly someone grabbed me and tried to pull me up.

"Sir, are you alright? What happened?"

I tried to release myself away from the person's grasp.

"I need to see Althea Stefan!" I tried to speak, though the pain was getting worse by the second. "Where is Althea Stefan! I need to see her! Bring me to her!"

A doctor came out from the emergency room. He removed his mask and his bloody surgical gloves.

I used my remaining strength to grab his shoulders.

  "Where's Althea?!" I asked.

  "Sir?" The doctor looked surprised.

"Didn't you hear me? Where's Althea?! She's supposed to meet me on the church! Where is she?!"

The doctor averted his eyes. He swallowed. "I'm sorry sir. But we tried everything… "

"You doctors always say that!! Where is she?!" I shouted.

  "She's dead sir."

"No! You have the wrong person! Where is she?!"

"She was wearing a wedding dress when she was brought here."

Still, denial prevailed. "No!! She's alive! She can't be dead! NO! ALTHEA!! ALTHEA!!"

Then I felt something punctured my neck.

  My vision started to blur.

I heard voices and someone mentioned "sedative."

I recalled our date yesterday. Her laughter, her voice, her touch, everything. She's the reason why I'm here. She made me love life and see it in a different angle. Althea was my life. The reason of my existence. Without her, life was not worth living.

All my life, I thought I’ll never be able to feel what true love really is. I was close to giving up when I suddenly met her.

I saw Althea smiling in front of me. Her presence gave me peace. She offered her hand. I stretched mine; I tried to grab her hand, to feel her warm touch and never let it go when darkness prevailed.
