Bartel held his breath as the verdict was read. The jury found in favor of the defendants, the Bartels. Jim Callahan slapped Ron Bartel’s back as the Bartels turned to the jury and mouthed their thanks.
That was the last time Bartel ever heard of Littleton and he was glad to be rid of him forever. In Bartel’s mind there was plenty of pain in the world to go around without having to undertake any additional burdens in life by dealing with miserable people like Littleton.
