“Just ten minutes, that’s barely late,” Jenny told him.
Cal had to grin at how much this beautiful young girl had to learn. “Just ten, just ten you say, let see how many ten is.”
When the first crack of the paddle landed in the center of Jenny’s right cheek she squealed in shock at the pain. Her mind was still trying to comprehend what had happened when the second equally hard swat landed in exactly the same place, causing Jenny to howl. Three more spanks to her poor punished cheek quickly followed. There was a moment’s pause that allowed Jenny to draw in a ragged breath.
“No more, Cal, you’re killing me.”
Cal made no comment as he let go the second batch of five thunderous spanks to her left cheek. Jenny shouted and squirmed but there was no escape.
“That was just ten, doesn’t seem like such a little number now does it?”
“You let me up! That really hurt, dammit!”
“We’re not through, how many minutes were you late this morning?” Cal asked quietly.
“I… Cal no, I can’t take it, please stop.”
“Jenny, you got yourself into this, but I’m going to finish it. How late were you?”
Thoughts flooded Jenny’s head: I hate him, this isn’t right, going to report him, I can’t take anymore…
Cal waited, knowing Jenny needed time to process what was happening.
Why doesn’t he just go ahead? He knew exactly how late she’d been, but he still waited.
“Twenty, I was twenty minutes late today. But Cal, please don’t…” was all she got out before Cal turned the paddle to her sit spot, right where butt and thigh met. This time he alternated from side to side at a slightly slower pace, but each spank was firm and unforgiving.
Jenny was crying in earnest as he finished and he took a minute to massage away the pain and give her a moment to calm down. As her crying lessened he helped her to her feet.
“It’s all right now,” he told her, pulling her into a hug. “Just remember actions have consequence and for you, being late to class results in you getting a hard spanking. Does that extra few minutes of sleep seem worth it right now?”
“No, sir,” Jenny answered speaking quietly in to his chest.
Cal fought it, but that little ‘no, sir’ had gone straight to his penis and he tried to shift around without letting Jenny go. He knew comfort and forgiveness were just as important to discipline and learning as the spanking had been, but there was no way Jenny could help feeling what this was doing to him. He didn’t just want to hold her he wanted to scoop her up and take her to his bed. Her hair, smooth as silk smelled of coconut and sunshine.
“Okay then,” Cal told her finally taking a step back even though it was the very last thing he wanted to do. “I need to get back to work and so do you. Have you decided on a topic for your big paper?”
“I’m working on it,” Jenny answered dully. Her ass hurt and so did her heart at the moment. The research paper was the last thing on her mind.
“Seriously Jenny, don’t let it get away from you.”
“I won’t, it’s coming along fine,” Jenny lied, after all she had two more months. And it wasn’t really a lie, she was going to think about it that afternoon, honest.
Cal watched Jenny walk to her car. He could still smell her scent and wanted her back in his arms. What was happening to him? He hadn’t ever been this wrapped up in a woman.
Cal’s thoughts turned to Pat. They’d dated for nearly two years. His family had loved her and everyone was sure that they would marry. Pat had been fun, they’d enjoyed watching football together on Sunday afternoons. She could talk with him about anything. They had enjoyed sparring about politics. She enjoyed camping and fishing and they’d had a great sex life, but of course she had eventually wanted more—a husband and kids. Cal simply wanted to feel more strongly about a woman before he settled down.
He knew he’d made the right decision when he’d heard six months after they’d stopped seeing each other, that Pat had married. The news hadn’t hurt him, he was happy she’d found what she wanted. Now finally, he’d found what he wanted, but he couldn’t have her.
Chapter 8
One thing Jenny really liked about Cal was that after a spanking it really felt like a clean slate and he never mentioned the incident again. At home when her mother thought she screwed up—usually by embarrassing her mother—it was never over. Once she got started, her mother would bring up things from years ago. Cal’s spankings sucked, but once they were over, the whole thing was over.
She was happier with herself lately. She felt a maturity, an ownership of her actions and she even like the feeling of accepting the consequences if she messed up. The idea of spanking had seemed so childish when Cal had first brought it up. How could it be that being spanked and knowing that a spanking was a very real consequence if she messed up, could make her feel more like a real woman than anything else in her life?
Everything quieted down for a while. Jenny had two alarms now, her phone and a clock across the room she had to get up to turn off. She didn’t plan on being late again. She had a big history test coming up. There were only three the whole semester, and she and Cal studied nearly every night. Time with Cal was both fun and frustrating. He was always the gentleman—damn him. But she could usually get a hug and she couldn’t believe how much she’d come to look forward to them. She’d like to throw him down and rip his clothes off before ravishing him, but for the time being the hug was as good as she could get.
Cal told her this was her night off from cooking. “I know you’re worried about your history exam Thursday so you relax. I’ll cook Wednesday night and we can study afterwards.”
She wasn’t really too worried about the exam. She knew the material, but she looked forward to spending the evening with Cal, studying or not.
Jenny checked her phone after class Wednesday morning. She frowned seeing the text from Cal, Call me was all it said. Please don’t let this screw up tonight Jenny silently prayed.
Cal answered his cell on the first ring. “Hey Jenny, I just got word I have to go to Raleigh this afternoon. I’ll have to stay overnight. Sorry to have to cancel on you. Can I count on you to stay in and study tonight? I want us both to be proud of that exam grade tomorrow.”
Jenny was surprised when tears sprang to her eyes. How crazy, but she couldn’t talk without crying. She managed to get out, “Sure, I…” and disconnected the call mid-sentence. She allowed herself a short cry to get it out of her system before calling Cal back.
“Sorry, I guess we got disconnected. It’s fine about tonight. I’ll study,” she promised.
“You sure you’re okay? I’m really sorry. This came up suddenly.”
“I’m fine, seriously. But I’m holding you to your promise to cook soon. Megan’s in that class too, we’ll study together. Call me when you get back, okay?”
“I’ll cook for you soon. Study with Megan, and promise me you’ll stay in tonight. No partying or craziness, study. And get a good night’s sleep, promise me?” Cal insisted.
Jenny laughed, “Yes, your high sheriffness. I promise. Your will is my command. Drive carefully. I’ll talk to you tomorrow."
Jenny sighed—not the evening she’d been planning on, but studying with Megan was fun too. There was a lot more giggling, much less studying, more fun.
Jenny had lucked out when she got her new room and roommate. She’d assumed whoever was looking for a room this late had to have something seriously wrong with her, but that wasn’t the case with Megan. She’d come to school with a friend from home to room with. They got along well. Megan even began dating her roomie’s brother. Big mistake! When she caught him cheating and dumped him his baby sister turned on Megan. The living situation had become intolerable and Megan had to bail.
Jenny thought she and Megan had to have been given the smallest dorm rooms ever created, her closet at home was more than twice the size of their miniscule room. She’d definitely had her doubts tha
t two girls could possible get along living is quarters this tight, but it had worked. She really liked Megan. Together they complained about the room, the meals, the homework and anything else they could think to complain about, but it became more a lighthearted and a fun way to release tension rather than true bitterness.
Jenny even trusted Megan with how she felt about Cal. She didn’t go into details of how they’d met or the true nature of their relationship, she just described him as her mentor. She did share with Megan that mentor or not, she had definite feelings for him and hoped to do something about those feelings if Cal would only get over his reluctance.
They had settled in to talk, gossip and even study a little after dinner. Mostly they discussed ways to get Cal to come around to Jenny’s way of thinking, but after truly studying for a good half hour Megan was done.
“Enough!” Megan shouted at nine. “I’ve absorbed all my brain is capable of and I’m starving. Let’s get some ice cream.”
“I’m done too, but I think I’ll take a shower and go to bed,” Jenny said yawning.
“No, come with me. I studied with you now you keep me from starving.”
“I kind of promised Cal I’d stay in tonight.”
“I don’t think he was worried about Dairy Queen, come on!”
“All right let me grab some cash,” Jenny finally agreed. Surely Cal wouldn’t mind her going out for a milkshake.
The night was beautiful and clear, spring was definitely on its way. Jenny loved being out walking, but she found herself missing Cal even more and she wondered what he was doing.
They were walking by Sigma Nu, one of the oldest fraternities on campus which was in a beautiful old home with a wide front porch, when someone shouted, “Jenny, Megan, come we’re cooking burgers, they’re nearly done. We definitely need some beautiful women in this crowd.”
“Well that would be us for sure,” Megan called back laughing. She headed toward the house.
Jenny hesitated for a minute before she caught the smell of the burgers. It’s no worse than ice cream she thought, and followed Megan. Looking around Jenny saw tons of people she knew. She hadn’t been to a party in forever.
“Want a beer?” Jenny turned to see Kyle Gilbert holding out a cold one. Kyle was in her economics class and they’d talked as they’d walked across campus a time or two.
Jenny took the beer. “Isn’t it a little late for a cookout? And I thought fraternities weren’t allowed to have beer at parties anymore,” she asked him.
“The night’s just getting started, but yeah to the beer thing. We’re not allowed, so no drinking on the porch or flashing guys out the window. This is a nice respectable place, you know. Aren’t you in Alpha Delta Pi?”
“Yeah, I was for like a minute. I didn’t suit them, or they didn’t suit me. All I can remember is that there was a fist fight involved,” Jenny explained.
“I have to hear more about this.” Kyle grinned. “Get a burger and tell me all about it.”
Jenny grinned back as she followed Kyle to the back yard. It was fun to just relax and talk and flirt a little. Kyle was hot, no doubt about it. His blond hair and baby blue eyes made him stand out. It wasn’t that she was really interested, but he was fun to talk to. Jenny fixed a plate and joined Kyle. He laughed about them sending her to the sheriff’s house and howled as she told him about the dorm fight.
“Remind me not to piss you off. You took down all three of them, impressive. But now you’re living in a regular dorm. That must suck.”
“Well it’s a crummy little room for sure, but it’s not that bad. And I like Megan so it all worked out.”
“What about you, was there a lot of hazing to get in here?”
“No, not for me. They wanted me and they really wanted Daddy’s money so it was pretty smooth,” Kyle explained.
“Well aren’t you the arrogant one?” Jenny told him.
“Why not. I’m good looking, intelligent and rich. Trust me Jenny, I’m the whole package and then some. I’ll be happy to prove it all to you. But first let me get you another beer.
Jenny couldn’t help grinning at him. She hadn’t done much partying since she’d met Cal and she’d missed kicking back with a beer, legal or not, and her parents had never cared if she drank. The first beer had been good, the second even better and they seemed to improve as the night went on.
Chapter 9
The next morning Jenny woke slowly. Her mouth felt like she had used it to clean out the inside of several old tennis shoes. She struggled to open her eyes and felt a wave of panic as she realized she wasn’t in her room. Shit! She was still at the fraternity house, in someone’s bed. It only took a second to realize she was going to be sick. She spied a bathroom to the right and made a mad dash, somewhere between the vomiting and dry heaving she realized someone was holding her hair back.
When the nausea finally subsided she sat back. Kyle flushed the toilet and then got her a cold cloth. Barely looking at him she put the cloth to her face and cried. Kyle sat on the floor with her.
“It’s okay, Jenny. You’ll probably feel better now. Sit here a minute and I’ll get you something for your headache.”
“What happened last night?” she asked sobbing.
“Nothing,” Kyle answered firmly. “I know what you’re thinking and nothing happened. You were…” he hesitated, “well you got pretty wasted and I brought you to my room to sleep it off. I wasn’t going to leave you out in the common room. I put you in my bed and I slept on the couch. That’s all that happened. I might not have mentioned it last night, but I’m also a gentleman.”
“Where’s Megan?” she asked.
“No idea,” Kyle told her. “Do you have your phone? There’s about seven on the counter out there.”
Jenny felt her pockets, “No, it’s…”
“Let me guess, the one with the pouty lips case, right?”
Jenny just nodded feeling stupid. “I guess I really screwed up your morning. Sorry.”
“No problem, I have an exam at two. I’ve got nothing to do till then.”
Exam!
“What time is it?” Jenny asked, panicked.
“It’s almost eleven,” Kyle told her.
Jenny felt her stomach roll again. “I had an exam at nine,” she whispered.
“It’ll be okay,” Kyle assured her. “Look, your folks are paying this place a crap load of money. They should really be catering to us, not expecting us to jump through their hoops. Just tell the professor you were sick or there was a family emergency or something and you’ll be able to take it later. It’s one exam, it’s no big deal.”
Jenny stared at Kyle. One part of her loved what he was saying. It was so easy, just tell the professor one little lie. Well not really a lie, she had been sick when she woke up. Would it really matter?
Who was she kidding? She didn’t give a shit about the exam. But she did give a shit about Cal and what he would think. She knew Cal’s take on all this would be nearly the opposite of Kyle’s.
Walking back into the bedroom, Jenny asked, “Is there a way for me to get out of here without doing the walk of shame through the house?”
Kyle laughed, “Sure, hang on a minute.” He left the room and was quickly back with her phone. “That’s why I love a ground floor room.” Opening a window for her, Kyle said, “I have my own private entrance and exit.”
Jenny smiled weakly. “Thanks Kyle, seriously, you’ve been a friend.”
As Jenny headed to the window Kyle spoke, “I wouldn’t mind trying out at being more than a friend. I really enjoyed talking with you last night, you know before things got a little nuts. Are you seeing anyone?”
She stared at Kyle, was she seeing anyone? “I d-don’t know,” she stammered. “It’s complicated.”
“That’s okay,” Kyle pulled Jenny into a hug, “let’s go out some time and I’ll help you figure it out,” Kyle told her grinning. Kyle was being sweet, but his hug was nothing like Cal’s. Jenny knew it was a stupid
comparison but that’s where her mind went. It still felt good and she liked the sensation of his hands running up and down her back. If Cal wasn’t crowding her mind she would definitely be interested. “I called me from your phone,” Kyle told her, “so I’ve got your number. I’ll be in touch.”
“Yeah, okay,” Jenny answered and she climbed out the window and headed home.
Chapter 10
Jenny walked carefully back to her dorm, praying she wouldn’t throw up again on the way. Looking at her phone she had time to see that she had several messages just as her phone went dead.
Megan grabbed her the minute she walked in, “Where the hell have you been?”
“Where have I been? You take me to a frat house, let me get drunk and just leave me there?” Jenny demanded angrily.
“You left me!” Megan stormed. “One minute you’re dancing and then you were gone. Someone said you’d gone off with Kyle, but no one knew where. I assumed you’d spent the night with him somewhere, but when you didn’t show up for the exam and you didn’t answer your phone I was scared. If you were just staying with a guy, I sure didn’t want to get Cal involved but I was ready to call the police if you hadn’t shown up soon.”
“Forget it. Everything was just screwed up.” Jenny plugged in her phone to charge and check her text messages. There were several from Megan and one from Cal. Cal’s text read, I’ll be thinking of you this morning. Good luck on the exam. I’m hoping to be home around four. I’ll call when I get there. Jenny sank down on her bed and closed her eyes. What the hell was she going to tell Cal?
Late that afternoon Cal tossed his overnight bag on his bed. He was happy to be back home. He wanted a shower and he needed to make several calls, but all he could think about was Jenny. He knew he loved her and the thought tore at his gut. She was a rich, preppy college girl. A small town sheriff, nine years older than her, was not in her future. Sure she’d tried to come on to him a few times, but that was obviously the way she normally got her way with men. It didn’t really mean anything. But she was changing and he was enjoying the woman she was becoming. Who knew, maybe she did care. But nothing could happen for the next month. “Why did I give her a three-month probation?” he chided himself, “what would have been wrong with three days?”
