“You’re not going to distract me today. The plane is leaving soon.”
“It’s my jet. It can take off whenever.”
“Jason,” she pleads.
With a groan, he lets her go.
“It’s just three days,” she assures him.
“Three long days.”
She can’t argue with him there.
“When I come back, we’re getting married, Jason. Then you’ll have a whole lifetime of me.” She zips her suitcase, and places it on the floor next to the bed. Jason looks at it like it’s personally offending him. “At some point during our marriage, you’ll probably wish I was away for three long days.”
“Never,” he says with conviction, his eyes full of fiery passion.
“Ugh, don’t look at me like that.”
“Like what?”
“Like that,” Kaia replies, pointing at Jason’s stupidly handsome face. “Like I hung the moon, and you want to devour me. It’s very inconvenient when I’m trying to make a point.”
“I’ll be happy to make things more inconvenient for you,” he says lasciviously.
She hates herself a little for wanting to stay. Maybe she can push the flight back an hour, hour and a half…no. No.
“I’m leaving now.”
Jason’s head lolls back in exasperation. “Fine. Come here and give me a kiss.”
That’s one request that she absolutely cannot resist.
“It’s one of my last ones as a single woman,” she teases. “Make it count.”
Jason reaches up, slides his fingers through her hair, and oh. He makes it count. When they both finally come up for air, Kaia’s more than a little dazed, and Jason looks triumphant.
With shaky hands, she grabs the handle of her suitcase, and wheels it to the bedroom door. “I’ll see you on Saturday. I’ll be the one in the dress at the end of the aisle.”
He grins. “I’ll make sure I’m on time.”
“It’s a date then,” she tells him.
With a wink, he replies, “Sure is.”
Kaia smiles at the man she’s going to spend the rest of her life with. Forever’s never been so beautiful.
