Making of a Magister Page 28

“Cousins, I am sorry,” she called out to them. “Please, you have nothing to fear. I am myself, once more.” She gestured for them to join her.

Astrid looked at the others. She was not sure she trusted Stela, but she could not hide in Rothmar forever. She gingerly stepped from the doorway and walked down the stairs. She flinched as Stela ran toward her.

“I love you,” Stela hugged Astrid tightly. “I am sorry for the things I said. We must work to improve our realms’ relations.”

“You have suffered much since taking the throne. I suppose you cannot be blamed for you actions. I suggest you avoid situations in the future which upset you,” Astrid nervously laughed as she returned Stela’s hug.

Amanda and Maurice followed. Stela apologized and agreed she would never threaten them again. Maurice helped Harris enter Rothmar, while Stela and Braynard remained in the courtyard. Orthia, Astrid, and Amanda left the two alone, joining the others inside.

“I am afraid you have worn yourself out,” Braynard said. He could sense Stela was becoming weak. She had expended much energy and would need to rest.

“I am feeling quite exhausted,” she responded as the two walked toward the palace.

“You will not be returning to them.” Braynard stopped her. “It is time for you to come with me. There is much to do before you face Diana. I am afraid she is more powerful now.”

“I cannot celebrate with my family? I must leave now?” Stela began to move toward the palace.

“Stela, we must go. You have destroyed all that Diana held dear. She will seek to come for you soon. You are not prepared for her. You must learn to control the powers so that you will never again do what occurred here today.” Braynard grabbed her arm. He supported her as she collapsed. The two vanished.

Harris returned to the courtyard. It was empty. There was no sign of Braynard or Stela.

“Stela!” he called out. “Braynard?” Neither answered. He ran about the grounds looking for his wife, but she was not to be found.

‘She is with me,” the voice rang in his head. “She is fine. I must prepare her. My time grows short, as does hers. You will not see her again. You will be regent to young Joseph. Raise him well.”

“Stela! Stela!” he screamed but she would not come. The others heard his cries and rushed out to join him.

“Where is she?” Astrid asked, trying to console him.

“He has taken her,” Harris said, turning to her. “We are not to see her again.”

Orthia reached out and placed her hand on his back. His face was buried in Astrid’s shoulder. His sobs were faint, but she could sense his pain. “This was his plan all along,” she finally said.

  “What?” Amanda asked.

“The making of a magister,” Orthia whispered.

The Fall of Lilith (Fantasy Angels Series) (Volume 1)

  By Vashti Quiroz-Vega

“I merely assisted you in doing what you desired all along.” So says Lilith, the most exquisite of the angels. The two most important pledges an angel makes to God are those of obedience and celibacy, and dire consequences await any who break their oaths. At first, the angels are happy in their celestial home, learning and exploring together. As they grow older, though, Lilith begins to question these pledges, which now seem arbitrary and stifling. Her challenge of the status quo leads to disagreement, jealousy, and strife among her peers. As the arguing and acrimony grow, lines are drawn and sides are chosen. Is war inevitable? Filled with robust characters, incredible landscapes, and exciting action, The Fall of Lilith is an epic tale of seduction, betrayal, and revenge. Free Will involves asking difficult questions and making hard choices, choices that require strength and sacrifice. These decisions can tear apart friendships and cause rifts between allies. They can even threaten the foundations of Heaven.

Bitter Awakenings (The Keeper Chronicles, Book 1)

  By Kester James Finley

It had been a quiet three years for Truddie Mae Watts, an almost immortal woman sharing the body of an eleven-year-old girl alongside an injured demon. As a Keeper, those chosen by the fates and granted supernatural powers to protect the veil between our world and the astral planes, she has grown accustomed to the tranquility of her home magically hidden away within the swampy wilderness along the outskirts of Dade City, Florida. That is until the veil calls out for her assistance urging her back into action and into the path of a sinister new enemy.

Something has breached the veil into our world. An entity that marks her and those she loves, for death. Driven by a ravenous appetite for energy, a craving for the occult, and a desire to end all of Keeper kind, it will stop at nothing until this world, her reality, is erased.

Now, forced to work alongside the tri-blooded Dusty, her adopted son and nature mage Niles, and Valda the snobby ice enchantress, they must race to stop this new evil that is hell-bent to destroy them and ultimately cause two worlds to collide that would unravel the universe.

Against all odds and against a ticking monstrosity of devouring evil, the Keepers must rally and protect not only their reality but also themselves before time runs out for them all.
