Coming Home: A Lesbian Romance Page 7

“Whenever you are,” Catherine said wishing she could take a cold shower, but wondered if that would do anything to her over excited body.

Sam pulled on her hand as soon as the crowd moved and they made their escape.

When they got into Sam’s truck, Catherine ran her hand across her brow. “That was wild. I’ve never experienced anything like that before.” Or felt that excited.

When they got back to Catherine’s house, Sam asked, “Do you mind if I use your bathroom?”

“Of course, not.” Catherine opened the door.

When Sam came out of the bathroom, she walked toward the door. “Thanks for an interesting day,” she smiled. “And for going with me.”

Catherine moved closer. “Thank you for my painting and...” She didn’t finish.

Sam grinned. “That was my pleasure.” Her grin opened wide.

“You’re bad, Sam.” Catherine tapped Sam’s stomach.

They both became serious while they looked at each other. Catherine moved closer and Sam’s eyes opened wide as she knew what was coming. Catherine put her hand on Sam’s arm and kissed her mouth. Catherine stepped away and looked at Sam. “That’s for getting me revved up today.”

“Was that my punishment? Because if it was, I think you owe me more than that.”

“I do, do I?” Catherine asked.

“Yes,” Sam said moving to Catherine this time. Their lips pressed together and Catherine’s tongue touched against Sam’s lips. Sam allowed her entry and their tongues danced.

Someone moaned and Sam’s back was now pressed up against the door. Catherine stepped back and looked at Sam’s face. She could see the desire in Sam’s eyes as she kissed her lips softly once more.

“Wow,” Sam said still standing against the door. “I never figured my day was going to be like this when I left the house.”

Catherine giggled hiding her face behind her hands. “I don’t know what came over me.”

“I do.” Sam wiggled her eyebrows. “The same thing that made me think I was going to self-combust.”

“Hey, it was your hand in my crotch,” Catherine said blushing.

“I know. I thought you were going to kick my ass,” Sam grinned.

“Kick your ass,” she said. “I wanted to rip your clothes off and take you right there.” Catherine’s hand covered her face again.

Sam stepped forward and pulled Catherine’s hands down. “Are you sorry?”

“That I kissed you? That I want you?” Catherine asked.

Sam swallowed hard and nodded. “As much as I want you, I’m going to let you have some time to think. It was a very stimulating day and I want you to be sure.” Sam opened the door. “I’ll call you tomorrow.”

“You don’t want to have dinner tonight? I could pick up Chinese food.” Catherine felt like she was begging.

“I’ll pick up the food on my way over.”

“Only if you let me pay for it.” Catherine went to her wallet and handed Sam forty dollars. “Get fried rice and shrimp with vegetables and whatever you want. We can share.”

  “Six o’clock?” Sam asked.

Catherine nodded as she moved closer. “Okay,” she said before she kissed her mouth again.

“I better leave before I change my mind,” Sam winked. “I’ll see you later.”

“Yes,” she said watching Sam go out the door.

Catherine dropped into a chair after Sam left. Her head was spinning not only from the kisses, but that she wanted Sam to stay and make love to her. It was only Sam’s good sense that kept them out of the bedroom. Was she ready to make love to her? If she did, what was it going to mean? Was she like the woman in her book that fell for the lesbian and realized that’s what she had wanted all her life? She got into the shower at four and changed into a new pair of shorts and a sleeveless shirt.

Catherine was emptying the dishwasher when she heard the knock on the door. Looking at the clock, she called out, “Come in Sam. You’re early.”

  “It’s Amy, not Sam.”

Catherine spun around and said, “Hi. What are you doing here?”

“I heard you’re not going to see Arthur again,” Amy said leaning against the counter.

Catherine wiped her hands on a towel. “No. I’m not.”

  “Why?” Amy asked.

Catherine blushed. “Because there was nothing there. I felt absolutely nothing for him,” Catherine said adamantly.

“But you feel something for Sam, don’t you?”

  Catherine didn’t answer.

“I knew it,” Amy raised her voice. “For God’s sake, Cate. Is this about sex?”

The door opened and Sam walked in. “Is everything okay in here? I could hear you outside.”

“How could you do that, Sam?” Amy poked her finger into Sam’s chest.

“She didn’t do anything, Amy,” Catherine said looking at Sam. “It was me.”

“You’re going to hurt this girl,” Amy said pointing at Sam. “You didn’t see what happened when she lost Robin.” Amy walked out the door.

“Well, that didn’t go well,” Catherine said with a laugh.

Sam was still holding the bag of food as she stood near the door. Catherine moved closer and took the bag from her. She walked over to the counter and put it down. Sam hadn’t moved into the room.

“Are you leaving?” Catherine asked with a grin.

“Do you want me to?” Sam asked still unsure what to do.

Catherine walked over to her and touched her arm. “No, I don’t want you to go. Do you want to leave?” she asked looking into her eyes.

Sam shook her head, but didn’t move.

“Good,” Catherine said before kissing her lightly on the lips.

  “You amaze me, Cate.”

“Why? Because I won’t take crap from Amy?” Catherine asked pulling Sam over to the counter. “Was it me or did she seem jealous?”

“I have to admit that when she started giving you a hard time, I thought she was just looking out for you. The longer it went on the more it seemed like she was a jealous ex-girlfriend.” Sam looked at Catherine. “Was there something when you were young?”

Catherine laughed. “Amy and me? Now that’s funny.”

“Maybe not on your part, but maybe there was on her part?”

“At this point, anything is possible.” Catherine walked over to Sam. “I don’t want to talk about her anymore.”

“Okay. Let’s eat before the food gets cold,” Sam said with a smile.

They each loaded their plate and began to eat. “I know you gave me time to think and I appreciate that.”

Sam’s fork stopped in mid-air. She waited for the rest of Catherine’s comment. The one that would break her heart.

“It wasn’t necessary. I haven’t changed my mind,” Catherine said with a smirk.

Sam let out the breath she had been holding.

“Does that disappoint you?” Catherine asked grinning.

Sam shook her head from side to side.

  “Does it make you happy?”

“More than I can say in words.” Sam returned the smile that was waiting when she looked at Catherine.

They finished their meal and sat on the couch. This time, they didn’t sit at opposite ends. Catherine’s leg was pressed against Sam’s and she took her hand. “What are you thinking?” Catherine asked squeezing Sam’s hand.

“How lucky I am,” Sam sighed. “When you came down the stairs that Sunday when it rained,” Sam swallowed, “I thought I was going to swallow my tongue when I saw you.”

  “You liked the view, huh?”

“Very much. I was happy the power went out so you wouldn’t catch me staring at your breasts.”

Catherine ran her hand up Sam’s arm. “I caught you,” she said with a giggle.

“Shit. I’m sorry.” Sam’s hand went to her head.

“Hey, you have this way of making a girl feel like she’s the most beautiful woman in the world. Not just with your
eyes, but in your actions.”

“Yeah, like my hand between your legs,” she said with a laugh.

“Not that, silly. Arthur opened my door for me, he held my chair. He showed a lot of interest in me, but I felt nothing.”

“Is that why you went out with him? To see if you felt something for a man?” Sam let go of Catherine’s hand.

“I was scared, Sam. I kept having these feelings for you when you were around. I guess I did want to see if it was you or just me needing to be with someone.”

“You slept with him?” Sam asked turning on the sofa.

“Ew, no way. He did kiss me good night.”

  “And?” Sam asked.

“Nothing.” Catherine took Sam’s again. “Now kissing you,” her sigh was deep, “that was the most erotic thing I’ve ever felt.”

“Maybe because you were already turned on,” Sam said placing her hand on top of the one Catherine held.

“Well, maybe we should test that theory of yours?” Catherine asked with a seductive husky voice.

Sam leaned over and kissed her mouth. The kiss deepened and their tongues played their dance. Catherine began to recline on the couch and Sam’s body followed hers. Catherine’s hand pulled at Sam’s shirt and her hands caressed the strong back. A moan escaped Catherine’s mouth as she pulled Sam on top of her. Her legs opened allowing Sam to move her body in between.

Sam’s mouth nibbled on Catherine’s neck and her hands moved under her shirt. Slowly they caressed until the hand held Catherine’s breast. This time it was Sam to moan. She reached behind and unclasped the bra that kept her fingers from feeling the skin she desired. Her fingers embraced Catherine’s breast. She couldn’t stand it any longer and moved the shirt away from her moaning lips. She took the nipple in her mouth and flicked her tongue over the swollen areola.

Catherine moved under Sam with such urgency. “Sam, please,” she pleaded. “I need you to touch me.”

She raised herself on her knees and reached for the band on Catherine shorts. Catherine raised her hips making it easier for Sam to remove them. She was about to lower her body, when Catherine’s hand pulled at her shirt. Sam smiled as she raised the shirt over her head. Now Catherine’s hand went to her waistband. Sam pulled the shorts down her legs and threw them on the floor. Before she lowered herself, she pulled Catherine’s shirt and bra off. As their flesh touched for the first time, they both moaned.

“I don’t want to break the mood, but don’t you think we’d be more comfortable in your bed?” Sam whispered into Catherine’s ear.

Catherine chuckled and put her hands on Sam’s chest. “You’re right.” Catherine took her hand and led her to the bedroom. She threw the covers back and they got into bed.

Sam covered her body and they took the position they had on the couch. Sam’s mouth covered hers and deepened the kiss. Then she moved to her neck, her chest, her breast. She kept going lower with her kisses. Sam could see the ragged breathing Catherine was doing in anticipation. “I have to taste you,” Sam said softly as her mouth closed over her.

Catherine’s hips jumped and found the rhythm against Sam’s mouth. Sam licked, she sucked until her tongue went into the opening. Catherine suddenly stilled and the strong orgasm took over her body. She was trembling until the waves ceased, but Sam wasn’t done.

“What you’re doing to me, it’s...” Catherine never finished her sentence because Sam’s mouth found hers again. Her body was still strumming when Sam put her hand between her legs. Catherine’s legs opened wide and Sam entered her. Again Catherine’s hips moved off the bed. It didn’t take long for Catherine to have another orgasm. She let out a loud moan as her body fell exhausted on the bed. “Those books didn’t lie,” Catherine’s voice was ragged.

Sam looked down into Catherine’s face. “Books?”

“I downloaded another book onto my Kindle.” She covered her face with her hands.

Sam moved her hands. “Do you want to practice what you learned?” She looked at Catherine. “I don’t want you to do anything you aren’t comfortable doing. Okay?”

Catherine nodded and rolled Sam’s body over. She settled in between Sam. Her hands touched the strong abs before her tentative hands touched her breasts. “So soft,” Catherine whispered. Her tongue teased the nipple and touched the other breast with such amazement. Catherine moved her body against Sam’s wetness. Their bodies molded together as if they were one. Her hand moved lower and she touched Sam’s wetness. She touched, caressed and entered her first with one finger and then added another.

Sam’s hips rose to meet her fingers. “Harder,” she moaned.

Catherine moved deeper into her and she felt it as the wave hit Sam. “That’s it, baby.”

Sam’s body dropped back and a tear fell from her eye. Before she knew it, she was crying.

Catherine looked at her. “Oh, honey. Did I do something to hurt you?” she asked not understanding.

Sam shook her head, but the tears continued to fall.

  “What is it then?”

Sam wiped her eyes and tried to smile. “I never thought I would feel like this again. Do you know what you’ve done to my heart?”

Catherine’s eyes filled with tears. “Yes. You’ve done the same thing to my heart, Sam.” Her arms wrapped around her. “I know I should be having doubts, but I’m not. Do you think that’s strange?”

“Do you want to stop?” Sam asked cautiously.

“No,” Catherine said as her mouth went back to capture Sam’s lips.

Sam showed Catherine what it was like to make love the whole night.

  CHAPTER TEN

Catherine awoke to Sam pressed into her back. She yawned and stretched her body.

“Good morning.” Sam said against her back. The hand that laid across her stomach began to move slowly. “Are you okay?”

Catherine rolled over on her back and moved into the crook of Sam’s arm. “I’m better than okay. My body is humming.”

“Then no regrets?” Sam asked hesitantly.

“Only that you drained me of all my strength last night,” she giggled, “or I should say sometime this morning.”

Sam squeezed her and kissed her forehead.

“No one ever cried after I made love to them,” Catherine sighed. “Do you have time for breakfast?”

“Sorry, but I’ve got to get to work.” Sam rolled over and began collecting her clothes. Once she was dressed, she bent down and kissed Catherine’s mouth. “I’ll call you when I get home today.

“I’ll be waiting,” Catherine said smiling up at her.

While Sam worked she couldn’t help but remember their night of making love, but Amy’s words also entered her head. Was this just a fling for Catherine? Would she realize that she wasn’t a lesbian and go back to dating men? By five o’clock she had found no answers.

She pulled into her driveway and went into the house to take a shower, but before she could get upstairs, there was a knock at the door.

“Amy, what are you doing here?” Sam asked.

Amy pushed through and walked into the living room. “I came to talk some sense into you.”

“Amy, I appreciate you wanting to protect me, but this is between Cate and me.”

“How long do you think she’ll play house with you? She may not leave you tomorrow or next week, but she will end up hurting you.”

Sam sat down in a chair unable to stand on her feet.

“I’ve known Cate almost all my life. There was a girl in school that liked Cate. I heard rumors about them.” Amy waved her hand in the air. “This is all about the sex and you’ll be the one to get hurt. Just think about what you’re doing, Sam.”

Amy left Sam to let her words sink in. Did Catherine experiment when she was in high school? Did she experiment in college? She got into her truck and went back to work.

Sam’s phone rang around seven o’clock. She knew without looking at the screen who it was. “Hello.”

sp; “Hi. Where are you?”

“Still at work. We got a rush job in today,” Sam lied.

“Are you leaving soon?” Catherine asked softly.

“Not for another couple of hours.”

  Catherine didn’t comment.

“I’ll be working late all week,” Sam sighed. “I’ll call you on the weekend.”

  “Good night, Sam.”

Sam’s heart broke hearing the disappointment in Catherine’s voice. She hated lying to her, but Amy was right. She had to take a step back and really think about what she was doing.

Catherine knew something was wrong. She could hear it in Sam’s voice. Something happened after she left and now she was going to avoid her the rest of the week. Catherine grabbed her keys and went for a walk.

As she walked the boardwalk, she knew she wasn’t going to give up on Sam so easily. If Sam was having second thoughts, she would be patient. The only thing she wasn’t willing to do was stop seeing her.

Friday, Sam did something she hadn’t done in a long time. “Hey, Carol. How are you?”

“As I live and breathe, Sam. It’s so good to hear from you,” Carol answered and then said to someone in the room. “It’s Sam.”

Sam could hear the person in the background.

“Sam, I’m going to put you on speaker. Jessica wants to speak with you too. Okay, we’re both here.”

  “Hi, Jess,” Sam said.

“Are you finally ready to come out and play?” Jessica asked.

  Sam chuckled. “I am.”

“Good,” Carol said. “We’ll pick you up at seven.”

Jess yelled. “I’ll call the rest of the gang. They’re going to be so happy to see you. We love you, Sam.”

  “I love you guys too.”

Catherine took a walk on the boardwalk later that day. She sat on a bench at Sam’s street. She watched her pull into the driveway at six o’clock. At seven a car pulled up. Sam came out of the house and hugged and kissed the two women before they got in the car and left. Catherine knew that she had to give Sam time. That she had to believe that she would never hurt her, but how was she going to do that if she wouldn’t see her.

Another woman was watching the same scene Catherine was. As the car pulled away, she left the window wearing a wide smile.
